In my opinion, as long as both cars can achieve same results, it's a draw. Of course every vehicle is different, so you gotta use a different method. What makes the difference here is not the torque value (which is very similar, specially cosindering that the petrol unit is much lighter) but the torque curve. The 1.2 turbo 3-cyl has not excellent low end torque compared to other turbo petrol engines which reaches max torque @1500rpms already. This one reaches max torque @2100rpms, anyway not bad in the end. Different style, same result. Very good
A great side-by-side comparison! One little detail though: why test the ‘24 model on A/T tires? It gives it an advantage over the ‘23 model on all-season road tires. Keep up the great work! 💪

Great video - Thank you! How much did your tyre choice impact the grip available to each car? It would be interesting to see the tyres swapped around to see if there was any difference. Of course, the torque from the diesel will always help.
Lac of torque is the red thread in the 1.2 story, I've seen many videos already with the duster 3 engine stalling and eventually shutting off in trying a slow controlled climb.
Considering it's a1.2 hibrid engine it's quite impressive . Yes the older model has more torque, but the new one has everything else. The interior, no catalyst bs,better interior ,bigger car. And most importantly no problems with oil bearings which is very common in 1.5 dci
the diesel one doesnt seem to be with AC on since the guy is always with the windows open.. that could influence.. also, i dont understand why in that example for the suspension when u put the rear wheel on the rock, why doesnt the rear wheels kick in much sooner??... if the front wheels are struggling, the back wheels should come much sooner.. and you were even on Lock mode which should force the back wheels to come into play sooner. i dont get it lol sometimes it looks like a 4x2 car. Also, the difference in torque is just 30 Nm lol. which now that ive look this info up, makes me more confident about the whole AC off in the diesel thing..
... if the front wheels are struggling, the back wheels should come much sooner... cause it doesnt have a differential lock. The tourque is transmitted the rear, but the diff decides the proportion to which wheel (left or right). Only at higher revs (2500-3000) the electronics kick in and brakes the spinning wheel

another real life valuable comparison ! I would agree on all of your assessments, especially since you are so familiar with the dci capabilities. Torque/rpm ratio is so important when you don't really have a REAL 4x4 transmission. To this point, isn't it so that the 1st gear is a bit shorter on new Duster 3 compared with Duster 2 ?
@@racer5440 well, since the 1st gear I use only rarely as a start gear (if uphill or extremely slow speed needed...egz. in slow moving traffic) I wouldn't mind it being even a shorter .....but, it is what it is....
@@DusterCoolTravels yes, @racer5440 wrote the same...pity, as I wrote, it might have been an oportunity to even shorten the 1st gear for a notch (tooth) so more torque at lower speed would compensate one old advantage that diesel engines were superior....anyhow, the first gear on Duster's are rarely (in my case at least) used as a normal starting gear in everyday (city, asphalt) ride....

They said that the haldex clutch engages in milliseconds after the front wheels slip, but apparently this is not true with Renault/Nissan/Dacia. Am I missing something?
This is NOT a Haldex clutch. All Dusters have GKN two stage electromagnetic clutch and need around 30 degs angle of input shaft overspin spin for full engage of rear axle.
Very interesting video, in quite tough conditions. Would be even more interesting in wet conditions. This autumn maybe ? Considering the fact that Duster III has the same gear ratios, whatever 4x2 or 4x4 (Duster II 4x4 gear ratios are shorter than 4x2) , I think its performance is quite good. Concerning the absence of 1.5 dCi in Duster III, maybe potential customers should put some pressure on Renault/Dacia, for example by a public petition. If the number of signatures is high, maybe they would re-introduce the lovely dCi in Duster III. Why is Kangoo still available with dCi engine and not Duster ? And if Citroën offers HDI on the new C3 Aircross...(HDI is back in Berlingo).
1.5 dci is perfect for that car, such nice engine. I used to drive 2010 Suzuki SX4 4x4 and i loved it and drove it in quite extreme condition with confidence. Now i drive 2016 SCross 1.6ddis also with 4x4 and its also capable but it is more sutable for bad roads or highway driving bsc it to low and engine has a lot of tourqe for overtaking,..
Dacia should have kept 2.gen in production using 1.33tce with mild hybrid that was already in production for RENAULT/NISSAN such a wasted opportunity, or speed-up development of 3.gen and use 1.33tce mild hybrid, I know price would increase but capabilities would increase as well, 1.2tce 3banger is not gonna last very long 3.gen is heavier engine has less power first 3 gears might be same but with bigger tires final ratio is higher, I had high hopes for 3.gen bigger luggage space, more space in interior but so far given engine options seeing the design of suspension it's no go for me I wonder how long are bushings gonna last with factory Adventure package lift shock absorbers those front lower control arms are not gonna be happy (1.gen and 2.gen are much more sutable for lifting) over all desing is nice so it becomes yet another city SUV that gonna mostly ordered in FWD 😢.

None had 4WD did they? It's a shame the 1.5 dci ended.. There's technology out there that could bring this engine back easily and practically zero emissions on the pollution side (it could end this madness for EV that will lead us nowhere). The torque is higher for diesel so helps on control but did see a huge difference between them in fact the new look smother in several climbs
Next week we get our new Sandero Stepway 110 TCe. We see us soon in Romania.👍🤓 Question! What do you see when you look in the rearview mirror of your new Dacia Sandero? Clearly, the VW Golf.😂
Nice video overall, but 17:09 - completely wrong, the statement, the idea, maybe except the conclusion. I don't get the diesel mania and neither the refusal of most people (at least in Romania) to understand the purpose of a gearbox and why diesel higher torque doesn't necessary lead to higher torque at the wheel.
Foarte interesat videoclipul.

Yes
another real life valuable comparison ! I would agree on all of your assessments, especially since you are so familiar with the dci capabilities. Torque/rpm ratio is so important when you don't really have a REAL 4x4 transmission. To this point, isn't it so that the 1st gear is a bit shorter on new Duster 3 compared with Duster 2 ?
it´s coming the e-4WD...
No gears are the same
@@racer5440 well, since the 1st gear I use only rarely as a start gear (if uphill or extremely slow speed needed...egz. in slow moving traffic) I wouldn't mind it being even a shorter .....but, it is what it is....
First gear is the same on both models
@@DusterCoolTravels yes, @racer5440 wrote the same...pity, as I wrote, it might have been an oportunity to even shorten the 1st gear for a notch (tooth) so more torque at lower speed would compensate one old advantage that diesel engines were superior....anyhow, the first gear on Duster's are rarely (in my case at least) used as a normal starting gear in everyday (city, asphalt) ride....
Top video! Not very great difference between the two cars in the field. Duster III has better looks, less noise and better, comfortable but stable suspension on the road. ❤ I made my choice for DIII
You´ve forgotten to mention that DIII is now 2.500EUR more expensive - for a worse / weak engine...😉
Ambele Duster sa descurcat fara nici o problema 👍
Multumesc!
Am facut un test pe offroad, urmeaza clip in curand. 😁pe drum normal 7 la suta
good job!
Thank you 🙏
the driving depend to according to charge of 0,9 kWh battery? can the charge see it in a menu?
You can see the state of the accu in the menu.
This accu helps only by the start
Duster 2 , Nr 1
Duster 3 looks much better
Nice Videos! Can you test more through mud? Old vs new duster?
Thank you. Yes, we will make more test. Soon. We have to install some skid plates on the 2023 duster first💪
@@DusterCoolTravels Very nice! I'm really looking forward to it 🥰.
I choose the new design and Diesel 4 ever!
Duster2 had better off-roading tires which made the difference in my opinion ! Both cars performed equally well, but Duster3 better looking by far!!!
Since differential lock is on, why the front wheels are spinning and the rear do nothing?
Yes, unfortunately the Duster AWD does sometimes strange things... It´s not the best but usally does the job
its not a mechanical diff lock.its a coupling based version and it only delivers same revs when only on asphalt surfaces or maybe on snow or mud.so its no use for hard off road
Because it uses an electornical system and not a mechanical one... -:)
@@mihaimihai9254 well, it takes forever to engage.
No diesel, no duster.
Video bellissimi!
Sarebbe molto interessante!
Saluti!
Yes, it would be interesting but I can’t find a Suzuki s cross 😅to go offroading with me
@@DusterCoolTravels spero che la troverai! Sarebbe veramente una bella sfida!
Maybe you can have more chances with the suzuki vitara. This would also be a great test.
2023 dci very nice performance motor dizayn hing technology
The new one, still have the low gear ratio in 1st and second gear??
Yes. It does.
But the hill descent control ,you have to be in neutral gear or first gear?🤔
First gear
HDc works in neutral and in any gear really. 1st too.
Neutral, first or any other gear, under 30 km/h .
the tires are very different ,that`s not fair
None had 4WD did they? It's a shame the 1.5 dci ended.. There's technology out there that could bring this engine back easily and practically zero emissions on the pollution side (it could end this madness for EV that will lead us nowhere).
The torque is higher for diesel so helps on control but did see a huge difference between them in fact the new look smother in several climbs
We need the 1.5 diesel on the new Duster
You can have it. In turkey or morocco 🇲🇦
Muy buena comparación
Egy ideig én is jartam Suv-val a hasonló utakat. Aztán rájöttem hogy semmi értelme. Vettem egy terepjárót 😉
Next week we get our new Sandero Stepway 110 TCe. We see us soon in Romania.👍🤓 Question! What do you see when you look in the rearview mirror of your new Dacia Sandero? Clearly, the VW Golf.😂
good one. 😅
New one have better suited tires but still older one looked more capable.
Small blocks working harder is not good engineering. It will reduce component part lifetimes and cost alot more to maintain as cars age.
Buena comparativa .
Good luck with the 1,2 TCE, normally it should broke before reaching 25000 miles…
Did you had one and it broke?👀or you just say it without knowing?
you're referring to the old "Bad" 1.2 engine , produced from 2012 until 2017. This one is a completely different engine
@@cristivpopescu exactly.
Not the best test, the tyres are different, cooper are much better, has a better grip...
What about fuel consumption?
Diesel wins again. Almost 2 l less than the petrol👀
@@DusterCoolTravels that's a lot, but that depends on prices, of vehicle and fuel, and kms done per year. Thx.
Duster 3 are AT-uri , iar Duster 2 are anvelope normale de iarna sau allseason!
useless comparison , off road tires vs road tires ? what a hell ?
where were you at 1:39?
Foarte interesat videoclipul.
Not sure why im excited about the 150 journey got 3 years to go yet 😢😢😢😢
È una pubblicità di Carrara & Matta?
I, ko je bolji?
Duster 3 - has changes ... be fair !
Duster 2 - stock
Let's compare Duster 2 and 3 - stock (no modifications)
Only after that we discussed.
DON'T forget that Duster 2 took you on roads that Duster 3 (with modifications, improvements) will never take you on.
And let's talk about Duster 3 engines in 4-5 years or over 100,000. km
... will they be like 1.5 dCi?!
Everything that is new is good for 1-2 years ... only for those who can afford a car for this time!
What changes has the duster 3?
Better tires on the duster 3, so kinda biased in favor of the newer version
I’m not so sure you do👀
1.5dci çok iyi
Depends on how they compare on all types of roads for speed, comfort and mpg.
This car should have an 1.6 L engine at least.
We're using it for towing and it needs more power
