  • Part 2 of the home made LED panel. This time, I put the LED strips onto something smaller and more portable. If you haven't watched part 1, here's the link:

Sweet bro. I'm always needing more light to work, especially since I've gotten older. Gonna make one of these SOON. I just tried unsuccessfully to repair an LED tv. Broke the bezel. Now I have the lights left from the back. This will do nicely for my workroom to make repairs. I'll finally have enough light. Thanks friend. Good video.

I have done 2 of these, 1 Samsung 42" and a Vizio 55". On the Samsung, I removed the input board keeping the power supply board. When I plug in the AC power, it immediately turns on. With the Vizio, I had to leave the input board in and I must use the power switch or the remote to turn it on. How I realized that I needed to keep the input board was having the light on and start unplugging cables. One of them killed the light, so put it back. Since, I wasn't going to try to sell the cards, it didn't matter. I didn't think about it until it was too late, but if you can turn the brightness up to max before removing the LCD board do it. Putting the 2 sheets of plastic that is behind the LCD screen, gives you the defused light.

Thanks for sharing this. Watched both of your videos. Really like your careful and patient explanation. Can you please show the inside and how you installed the batteries and switch? Also, how do you charge them when necessary? Great vid! I enjoy salvaging and found lots of parts, including these same LED strips from a broken LED TV. Your video was exactly what I was looking for!

    Love your work mate.
Was wondering how you get your hands on 18500 batteries. Do your friends throw them away, or you have enough power tool batteries to salvage them?

I made my LED light panel from a Toshiba TV. After turning it on, it goes out by itself after a few minutes. The screen is now apart from the light and I can't figure out how to make it stop.

Sir, I only have to strip led lights from a recycle tv, but the led isn't say the voltage. Could you please help to know how can connect them to use them as desk light?

    How many Amps?

You need a resistor on each string of leds to stop them burning out. There should be one inside the tv of the right size for one string. The manufacturers use one resistor because they power the leds in series with high voltage.

Is there any way you could make it change color
