100% agree with you on the buttons. I also love how they integrated the screen into the dashboard better. My friend has a 2019 XSE with such a high end interior. She still gets compliments on her car all the time.
Yes!! Totally agree at the better integrated screen. That was one of the first things John noticed when he got in was how much better the position of the screen was versus his Camry. 😂
Your review really like when you have an normal and friendly conversation with someone you close to, And have nothing to hide or fake from you ...that my impressionist of your car reviewing....keep up buddy
Thank you! I’m so glad it comes across that way, that’s fully my intent. When I’m filming these I don’t feel like I’m taking to the camera but rather to all of you watching as if you were in the car with me!
I bought a 2025 XLE with premium package 3 weeks ago. Luckily my fit and finish is much better. I got reservoir blue because it was the only Camry on the lot. I’m happy with it for the most part. I’ve hit 44.4 miles per gallon. I have always bought Mazdas and their fit and finish is really great.
@@joshjamescars Honestly if my dealer had an XSE I probably would have gone for that one but there was 1 Camry on their showroom floor with a big red bow and it was the Reservoir Blue. In my head I liked the car and sat in it but the color was a deal killer for me as I never have wanted a blue car. The salesperson was super though except he didn’t know how to explain the ECVT. But I was there for 6 hours! At the end of the 5th hour I was tired and I was thinking I wanted a Camry and didn’t feel like waiting months for other colors and trims arrived so I finally told the manager okay I’ll take the blue Camry before it sells, an elderly came in and started telling the salesman they wanted to make a deal. I could hear them a few feet over from me. I had to pull trigger or walk away. The blue gets tons of compliments from a variety of people when I’m out and about.
I have the XLE also, fully loaded with AWD. I prefer the faux Alcantara interior and only the XLE has memory seats. Real leather on a $40k Camry, but imitation leather on a $75k Lexus? Wow, I can’t complain about my OTD price of $41k (I haggle really well 😊).
I have an older 2012 Mazda 3 that has been an absolute tank. It’s approaching 300,000 miles though and I’m planning on upgrading to something bigger. It’ll be a reward for finishing school and starting my career too. Would have went with a Mazda 6 if those were still around, but I’m seriously considering either a new Camry or Hybrid Accord now. I think I’m leaning towards the Camry. My parents told me to future proof myself and get an even larger RAV4, Honda CRV, or Mazda CX5/CX50, but I want a sedan lol.
I wasn't overly impressed with the styling of the new Camry, either... until I went and saw the ocean gem/black roof with premium plus package, illuminated door sills and front accent lighting in person... then I bought it.
Thank you! Either is great. I think I would personally go for the XLE because I like the white-ish interior and I would rather have the 18” wheels. But the XSE with the sport suspension does feel a little more firm and precise. Test drive both and see what you prefer.
First time viewer on this channel and my jaw dropped when this host talked about a high trim, and clean, well maintained Camry. Well I’m a 4th year surgical resident, I inherited a large sum from grandmother 2 years ago. I have a bank account that would allow me to buy multiple cars and they could be the prestige brands he spoke of. I give money away to those in need and that calculated into my decision to go drive a Toyota Camry out of curiosity. I also drove the Mercedes and Audi etc. I gave my decision lots of thought, and I went back to Toyota and chose a 2025 Camry because I love saving money and I don’t need to impress anyone or take criticism from family and friends for a $145k M5 competition from BMW that I wanted. Anyways, I paid the Camry in full and my insurance premium for 6 months and of course TT&L right away. I’m thrilled to not have debt and have a new car. I have a 2021 Mazda CX-5 as well. I wash my cars a couple of times a week. The Camry is a great daily driver and good at mailing its mission. That Ocean Gem is gorgeous. Thank you so much for your presentation. I subbed. And I drove the Honda accord but didn’t really care for it… seats, styling, lack of some features, turn me away after 3 times driving it.
Hahaha! Irrefutable PROOF of what I was talking about! I grew up in a very middle class, but very comfortable home and neighborhood where you could tell who was actually wealthy by the fact that they drove a Camry XLE V6 (this is back in the days before XSE ever existed) and they were always impeccably maintained and were in better condition than the luxury cars that you’d see at the mall. With that said, once you’re well into your future surgical practice, you should buy your dream M5 Competition because I do believe life is too short to not buy the fun car and have the experience. Since you can afford it, you should enjoy your luck and success. :) And you shouldn’t worry about criticism from people about what you do with your money. But always keep the Camry because I think even when you have the nice car, you’ll want to baby it. Case in point, one of my parents’ neighbors has a beautiful classic Porsche 911 that he’s owned for decades but his daily driver is always a Camry XLE. 😂
I could give you more reasons why your position on the way you are managing your good fortune is a good idea. There will be a time later when buying that "fun" car would be better. If they still make fun cars. I am assuming you have no debt (highly unusual for someone that has been in school for as long as you have) and that you have engaged a "fee only" financial planner. With your outlook you will be very successful. Good luck with your practice which unless you are doing a fellowship, I would think will be starting soon. That Camry is a fine car will go over a lot better with your potential referral sources and the people you work with.
@@joshjamescars lol, This is terrific! Thank you for wisdom and contributions to the auto world with your reviews. I will be watching others in the weeks agreed but your channel was in my “feed or pipeline” and I saw your Camry review and wanted to see if your channel and you were any good. Lots of care review channels nowadays. You are great! You are nuanced and have experience with Camry and you have class and common sense. I love it and I am happy to subscribe. Your parents sound like intelligent people too. I’ve looked at Camrys for years and kind of wondered what the deal was and why I always see so many. I was at a stop light in Oklahoma City last night and I was in my Camry and the other 3 parts of the intersection all had a new Camry in therm! I couldn’t believe all the Camrys were the first cars in the line and my head was going back and forth because I had not seen 2025 Camrys in the roads yet. Then all of the sudden 4 of us! A gorgeous white XSE and the Solar Red, not sure of the factory color name and then an Ocean Gem LE and me in my reservoir blue. I paid off my Mazda CX-5 GT lease for $20,513 and it’s too great to get rid of with only 22,320 miles. I figured if I didn’t like Camry that I’d dump in a year or maybe give to a younger cousin or something. But I believe now she is a keeper and I’ll keep her in the stable for 10 years maybe! I’m not a flashy guy but I am very curious about that M5 when I just wanna have fun. I do have access to my Father’s 911t S and it’s something special. But I like saving more than I like spending tbh. I wear lots of black shirts when I go out instead of all the luxury Italian brands that my colleagues and friends usually wear. I do spend on watches tho! Hahaha Take care and thanks again for such a thoughtful response. I will be sure to like and watch all of your videos, Josh
@@brianbarbe9646 no debt here I was lucky to have family support who told me if I committed to the work, they’d take care of school debt. My grandma kicked in $90k initially and my folks took care of the rest and I’ve been out of debt with cars and credit cards etc. my folks are a dentist and a cardiologist in my city. I’m an only child and only grandchild so they pin their hopes on me lol. And yes there is a financial planner in my city that my parents and their friends use, he charges me 3%. I don’t believe he is a fiduciary but that’s okay for now.
Wow. This video got a lot of views. Nice job. Appreciate the explanation of what an "ECVT" is. Also made me feel better that someone much younger and more tech savvy than a geezer like me struggled with the Toyota instrument cluster set up. I had the same issue with our Grand Highlander. Good thing I don't care about much beyond speed, fuel level and coolant temp.
@@joshjamescars do you have any opinions on Camry vs Audi A4 for the price diff? I was heavily considering Audi but my local dealer doesn’t ever have much inventory since pandemic. I know we aren’t comparing apples & oranges. And Audi would have cost another $12$-$17k likely based on my choices.
@2004cyrus Personally I’ve never been a huge fan of the A4… and as you may know the A4 is going away since it’s at the end of its generational run (came out in 2016), and the A5 is the new gas engine sedan going forward (even numbers will be reserved for electric Audis from here on out). I’m excited to see what that looks like and I don’t think you missed out on anything by not buying the current (outgoing) A4. But in general I do love Audi’s design language and technology. Their cars are the most timeless of all the Germans. I think BMW and Mercedes have gotten really trendy and gaudy as of late. Audi knows how to do restrained avant-Garde design, and I think if I were ever to buy an EV, it would be some kind of eTron. They really do live their “Vorsprung durch Technik” or Progress through Technology mantra.
@@joshjamescars I’m handing on your way very wise word! Wow I agree with all of that! I did drive an eTron. I don’t know about the end of this generation of A4 and no more. I don’t regret my decision so far. I love how Audi is restrain with styling compared to the other 2 that are not my preference style wise many times. Thanks for such a nuanced reply!
I agree at the extra tech, but I do really like having a digital speedometer for quick glance reads at how fast I’m going. Especially on our inner city roads where speed traps are all over the place. But I’m with you on gauges. If the screen goes out, I want a fallback.
Hello Josh, love your reviews cause you're so detailed with pointing out interior materials and quality. However, I am curious. It looks like this Camry you reviewed has 19"rims and 40" profile tires. Typically with low profile tires, when driven over road irregularities/ripples and imperfections in the road, you get extra vibration or reverberations in the suspension and body structure vs when older Camry's had higher profile tires. How was this compared to those older Camry's. Did it feel more or less solid?
Thank you! I was actually really impressed by how nicely this Camry rode even considering it has big wheels and low profile tires. I felt like the suspension was tuned to be softer than it is in our V6 Camry with the same setup. But it’s all up to personal preference. And, if you don’t want that kind of ride you can get most of the same features on the equivalent XLE which I think comes with 18” wheels and softer suspension tuning.
Josh: I had a Cadillac STS I chose the base XLE Crown 25 I felt it was a better fit getting in and out for me. Like you said Toyota’s drive alike also the speedometer screen is a mess to try to set up. I’ve spent hours on it sitting in the garage. I did try on the road driving it was too complicated and took away my attention from the road as you mentioned. I’m in northern Louisiana the all wheel drive has come on twice or three times. Making me wonder why. Hope you continue posting these great reviews. 😊😊
Oh man I loved the Cadillac STS. I wish they’d kept that around… that was always the best looking of their sedans. More stately than the smaller CTS, but not frumpy like the DeVille/XTS. Anyhow… congrats on the Camry!! I’m sure you’re saving a ton on gas versus the STS too! As for AWD, Toyota’s intelligent AWD isn’t just for when the vehicle loses traction. It will come on sometimes if the system thinks it should use the rear wheels to kick in for a better takeoff (like getting off the line) or if the rear wheels helping to push the car will give you better handling in whatever situation you’re in. :) I see that happening in my Rsv4 Prime too. Totally normal, and just the car giving you the best balance of power and efficiency that it can.
Thanks for the review, Josh! It would also be great to hear your opinion about the new Toyota Crown Signia which is also less than $50k and fully manufactured in Japan.
Yes! I’m hoping to be able to do that sometime soon too. They’re just now hitting dealers, and I imagine there will probably be a line of folks waiting for one but as soon as I can get one, I’ll give it a go.
Great job!! 👏 I test drove a xse then the Crown.. I actually prefer the crown for the smooth ride, it’s Lexus like feel, and it is very quiet compared to the camry. For me it was just being higher up too since I am only 5’0… however I am not paying $50k for a Toyota limited 🤪 yes for a Lexus. That blue is a beautiful color and is hard to find! Still holding out for the Crown sport that looks like a Macan 😂 I like the IS as well as you mentioned it, but the interior so dated and the camera quality.. oh but that V6 😅
Hello!!! Been meaning to respond to this for so long! Been a busy, busy week. Yes to Crown Sport coming here… if that comes (and if they bring it with a PHEV drivetrain) I’ll buy one so fast… I wish they had brought that instead of the Crown Signia.
The non-hybrid is a non-starter for me. The hybrid is more efficient, more reliable, has more power, is quieter and nicer to drive, and will have much better resale value. All for maybe $1-2K more.
Besides the new Camry, I am looking at the lower end model of the Toyota Crown as well. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but it's NOT Lexus expensive especially if you go for any model BUT the Platinum version. For the extra $7-$8K, the ride is more quiet & luxurious, and you get AWD. Although it is also a Sedan, the Crown sits 4" higher which is closer to the height of some SUVs. But, because the Crown is a heavier car, the MPG will drop to an average of 41 MPG, which is still impressive for a larger car.
I agree with the ride height but the Camry offers AWD on all trims for 2025 as well. Price wise, the Crown starts at $41K and the ES starts at $43K and ES hybrid starts at $44K. So yes, the Crown is Lexus expensive. It doesn’t have all wheel drive, but it is a much nicer sedan than the Crown even with how premium the Crown itself is. And definitely consider the ownership experience you get with Lexus in that extra $2-3K. Since the ES is almost certainly getting redesigned for the 2026 model, if you don’t need to buy right away, it is definitely worth waiting to see what the next ES looks like before you decide one way or another.
What puts the 2025 Camry ahead of Honda's Accord is several things: 1. AWD option - I think they're doing this because of their Acura branch. The Accord really should be given an AWD option 2. Hybrid entry level is at the base level of the Camry, you have to go up to the Sports-L/Touring to get the hybrid 3. Overall design of the exterior is much better looking (imo) vs. the accord. It's sharper and more aggressive looking 4. Color. The Accord on the interior does not have a lot of color to it, just a ton of the same color/monotoned. Camry, you're given a lot of options (White, Red, Black, etc.) I'll be getting a new car soon, and I think the Camry will be it. My only issue, dealerships in my area only getting Gray/Black options, not a lot of Ocean Gem/White which is the color I want.
I agree with most of this. The only thing I’ll say to #2 is that most people won’t go for the base trims of either anyway. Also, Honda’s interior quality and the Google-based infotainment system on the Accord I think are better than what’s in this Camry. But it is missing a lot of other nice features.
@@joshjamescars I agree with the interior. I really do like the overall design of the Accord interior, and the Google integrated system is nicely done. Big fan of the Touring level and how you can get the Google map integrated into the digital gauge cluster. The color/material could be a little more expansive to offer people something, just to give it some personality. I do think that the Accord with the next re-design could introduce a couple things to make it competitive with the Camry with the exterior and drivetrain. You can't go wrong with either, but for me personally, I like what the Camry can bring to the table.
I've been going back and forth between the xle and Accord touring. I like that I can get AWD on the Camry but that interior looks funky to me. Piano black and cloth on the dashboard should never be done.
🫶 Josh unwavering commitment to buttons a dashboard, I believe years from now everyone would look back at other reviewers who were glorifying touch screens as being silly. I do think one should compare the Camry inside materials to previous generations, the 2018 through this one, have so much cheaper materials inside as compared to the fit and finish of the early 2000 models. If ever get a privilege to check one a well maintained one from that era, it would be a great treat to present it on this channel.
Oh without doubt a Toyota from 2001 is going to have better materials. 😂 Even as wonderful as my GX460 is, the GX470 and Land Cruiser/LX470 of that era had even better materials. The Camry from that generation and the one after were just so wonderful. And same with the second-gen Highlander. My very best friend’s mom has a 2006 IS250 and I remind her constantly that when she’s finally ready to part with it (which may literally not be until 20 years from now), I will be ready to buy it from her. Also, I so hope this all screen trend expires soon. I will not buy another car with all the climate controls being on screen.
Love your review... you clearly love toyotas but not unfair with other options like other channels do and they pretend they are not biased downing toyotas
With Josh +1, regarding the color match. It is more work to coordinate all colors that are additional, but makes it more elegant instead of utilitarian.
Thank you for this review .It gave comfort purchasing and owning a 2023 Camry. I also heard of issues when purchasing a first production model. The only negative to my Camry is the 4-cylinder. This was a need and an interim purchase, because in 2023, I was hoping for the redesign of the RX, GX, 4-Runner and Land Cruiser to arrive, which was all released in 2024. I'm definitely keeping the Camry, at least through 2026, when the warranty expires, and may upgrade to one of the 4 models aforementioned. I really want a SUV with more room capacity
I think you’re in a really solid position; the Camry is such a good daily driver car that I’m sure you didn’t pay too much for, and that you can hold onto until you’re ready to jump into something new. I think waiting until 2026 for any of the new Toyota trucks is a good move too since so many of them are having some early teething issues (transmission failures in the Tacoma is becoming a thing from what I’m reading). And until then you can hang out and save money in your Camry!
@@joshjamescars Makes complete sense and thank you. I didn't pay much. In fact, the funny thing with this SE is that, I told the sales guy, everything I never used in my GS. For example, The SE doesn't have a sunroof and I didn't want a push button start. At the 15th year. mark, that push start failed on my GS, along with the alternator. One other time, I almost got stranded, because my car wouldn't start. The battery key fob needed replacing. So I asked for a physical key with the Camry. Mentally, I am worry-free, because I drive a new car, under warranty of 2 years remaining, and it won't cost that much in repairs/maintenance - hopefully.
Right!? I was really surprised by that because the Kentucky plant usually puts out cars that rival Japan in terms of fit and finish. But… first model year problems definitely exist even with Toyota. And I’d most definitely keep your V6 ES!
Great review Josh. You provide excellent content. I agree 100% with your validation philosophy. I own a Grand Highlander hybrid and could not justify buying a TX with those stupid electronic door handles although I can afford to buy it. I like the color coordination of your shirt and sunglass tint. Also love your Submariner 😊. I just subscribed. ✌ peace bro
Thank you! I personally think the TX is an absolute joke (I have a review on the base 350 here on the channel, hated it) so regardless of the status symbol and prestige badge factor, I think you got the better car with the Grand Highlander. I can’t imagine why anyone would buy a TX since you can literally get a loaded Grand Highlander for basically the same price as a base TX350.
Your argument is on point. Very well said my friend. Check out videos on older Crowns as they were JDM cars like the Century, particularly 2006-2016/17 😊
Thank you! And thanks as always for watching! And YES at the Crown! The new actual Crown sedan in Japan is absolutely stunning too… I honestly think that should have come here instead of the weird lifted crossover sedan.
Hi Josh. Nice review. I have never considered a Camry, although I see quite a few on the road speeding like sports cars. When I say speeding I mean speeding along with dodging in and out of traffic. That blue really stands out it is a beautiful color. In your previous review of the plug in hybrid you mentioned emptying the gas tank do you also recommend that for non plug in hybrids? Back in the day we had a Toyota Cressida which at that time was considered their luxury version of a sedan before Lexus was introduced. Prior to Covid we went to an auto where Toyota was really promoting the Rav 4. It had a lot of the options you look for in a vehicle. The 360 camera and quite a few other features. Again, great review. Thank you.
Blue are the people here that walk around Blue like my Camry, its in and outside... Another great review. I am blown away by the Camry and the Crown. It hurts how much better these products are compared to Lexus, a point you bring up across multiple areas (interior, ride, engine, etc.). Why is Toyota doing this? I don't understand the strategy... I might lease something until Lexus improves enough to be worthy of a purchase.
If you haven’t already, go and watch the video I’ve linked at the end of this comment… that’s my guess because I can’t think of any other reason Lexus is putting out such banal vehicles right now. ruclips.net/video/x1vX_DuWZFg/видео.html
so wait until next year for the improvements to the quality control...i got the first mazda 3 2019 redesign and theres several electronic issues i experience.
Most definitely. I never recommend buying first model year when it comes to cars. Every car has issues when it comes out and buying second or third year ensures you avoid most of them!
Great review Josh! I think what will be interesting for me is that normally I would get a Lexus ES, however with the direction they are going with removing all physical controls I don't know if I will actually like the updated ES. The loss of the V6 is a bit disappointing but it sounds like the hybrid performs well and I already have a Golf R if I want more performance. So maybe the Camry will actually be better a compliment? Did you look at an XLE Josh? Does it have soft touch rear door cards, anything else of note in interior improvements?
Hello! I think if you’re in the market for a new car or will be ready to buy in the next year, I’d probably go and grab the last 2025 ES with the V6, if that’s what you like. Also, in this new generation, the XLE is a tier below the XSE so what you get on the XSE is going to be as nice or nicer than what you get in the XLE. The nice thing about the XLE is I believe it has 18” wheels so you’ll probably get a softer ride in it as well.
@@joshjamescars Ah interesting, didn't realize the XSE was different in Canada, it looks our XLE is still at the top offering a couple of memory features the XSE does not have (nothing mentioned about soft touch so I bet it's still hard in the back). Also didn't see that the ES was going to stay the same in 2025 maybe I'll consider that. Thanks for the info.
@joelcummings Oh yeah, in Canada things are usually different in terms of trim and grade from the US. And yes! The current ES is great and judging by the resale of V6 Camrys here in the states (selling for above their new price), I’m sure it will be worth a mint later on.
If I did swap out my Camry, it would be this Ocean color. Tech wise, it's awesome...just the driving experience that's keeping me on my v6. I have this cluster on my loaded XSE RAV4. On the settings...I too changed it from the default and I couldn't find settings either. You have to stick it back to the middle in order for it to "be tthere". I agree there needs to be more rails on this....also--most of the gauge information is FRICKING USELESS. Did this come with a heads up display?
Haha! Yes but I hope you never end up flipping your V6 Camry. The hybrid is great but definitely not the same driving experience we have. It isn’t nearly as fast or as smooth, sadly. And yes this can come with a head up display but you have to option into it on the XLE and XSE.
Hi Josh, because Crowns are not very highly sought after, the lowest price I have seen available for Platinum Crown is $46k (from 55k MSRP). Would you recommend getting the Crown Platinum at around $46-47k range (very doable these days) consider you are getting that ultra powerful Hybrid Max power?
WOW! That’s a really good deal. That would definitely make the Crown more appealing. I think I would personally still do the Camry because I would rather have a super efficient car if I’m buying a Toyota sedan (the Crown Platinum with the Hybrid Max is kind of a gas guzzler for what it is, like all Hybrid Max cars as that powertrain was designed for performance and not efficiency) but that’s just me. The other thing you should think about, it may not be right for you, is whether you want an IS350 which is also around 46-47. For better performance, that’s the way I would go if you don’t need a midsize sedan. The Hybrid Max is more powerful on paper but doesn’t drive nearly as nicely as the V6.
@@joshjamescars thanks, that’s a good point. Also I feel Hybrid Max is still kinda in low production volume (only 3-4 models if I count correctly) indicating that Toyota/Lexus might still need time to field test the long term reliability. I think I’ll sit this one out for now.
@shawnacevedo8842 Yes! Though it’s the same engine that’s in all the new 4-cylinder trucks also. But, with that said, I think it needs more time in the oven. I think now is the time to buy a V6, but for anything else, it makes sense to wait a bit.
Regarding pricing of cars nowadays: wait until you see Honda’s pricing. $55k for a Pilot Black Edition, $45k for a CR-V, etc. then you have to deal with the crazy APRs right now. Honestly, it sucks if you really need a car right now. Go 2nd hand? Deal with the crazy price and crazier APRs at 9.99%. Regarding the car: it looks stunning! The colour’s looking really good.
Honda’s pricing is high but not as bad IMO. They’re on par with their competitors in the market which are all expensive. Toyota is on a whole other level of ridiculous with the way they’re pricing their new trucks and SUVs.
Not sure what the QP package refers to but if you don’t see any in your region it may mean that it’s not a popular option there and so you may want to look at other states to see if you can find one elsewhere and have it shipped to you. A lot of times regions will request that cars not get sent to their region with specific options because they know they’ll have a hard time selling.
Hello! I address that in the last chapter at the end of the video, but in short, I personally don’t really see the point of the Crown. For basically the same price as the base and mid trims, you can get an ES300h (or 350 if you want the V6) which gives you more luxury. And if you’re after performance, for a bit more than the Platinum trim, you can get an IS500. The only two things I think the Crown offers is the higher ride height. The more interesting Crown is the Crown Signia which is basically a Camry wagon.
Thanks for explaining the difference between ECVT and older CVT. I get irritated when reviewers refer to this as CVT. Different mechanical engineering and operating principles. If you watch videos about the newer Toyota ECVTs, it is actually a simple but effective design.
Question: How is the wireless charging? Toyota wireless chargers for me have been worthless. They say they are charging but the actual charging is so low my phone will actually lose charge. Just curious if they have improved =)
That’s how wireless charging is in general whether in a car or on a desk. Because of the way wireless charging units conduct electricity (I won’t go into detail on the magnetic coils that they use), a lot of the energy generated is lost and wasted in transmission. That’s why you don’t see any kind of wireless charging for cars either. There would be too much net loss in power generated for it to make sense. There’s no replacement for metal on metal contact for power transfer.
Question about Adaptive Cruise. Do you actually have to move the steering wheel to turn off the prompt to touch the steering wheel? In other words does the steering wheel have a touch sensor? My 2023 Lexus NX350 does have a touch sensitive steering wheel. In my opinion if the steering wheel doesn’t have a touch sensor then it renders Adaptive Cruise unusable. I recently bought my wife a 2025 Lexus UX300h and we were very disappointed that it doesn’t have a touch sensitive steering wheel. So I was searching Toyota models in general to see if they were the same and found your video. Thanks for your vids!
Hello! Most cars with TSS/LSS 3.0 will have the touch capacitive steering wheel. Anything with 2.0 or 2.5 will not have it. The UX is nearing the end of its generational run (it’s the Lexus version of the current-gen Corolla hatchback which launched in 2018) and thus has the much older system. Overall you’ll find your NX has much better lane trace, adaptive cruise, and obstacle avoidance.
Oh that’s news to me, and I’m glad to hear that! It’s likely then that they didn’t change the actual steering wheel (going back to it being an older vehicle) and so the feature just got taken out. Your NX was a clean sheet redesign from 2022 and so it has the new Lexus steering wheel that’s used on all new-gen vehicles now.
Update-I just googled and you’re right, it has 3.0 but it looks like it’s missing some of the more advanced (but IMO useless) features which I imagine would require some different hardware. This is good to know that there are some vehicles with this kind of configuration.
@@joshjamescars The car itself is very nice and it’s perfect for one driver(no kids). Great gas mileage. We got the top line FSport 2 model. However, we would have just got the NX350h if we knew about the steering wheel. Unfortunately Lexus just lists the features which are the same. Thanks for responding (subbed for support!☺️) Honestly, I think having to jerk the wheel every minute is a safety hazard.
Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say you're wrong (because you're probably not, especially in regards to the current crown sedan) but the new, sort of wagon, Crown thing looks pretty spectacular. And... if it sells as poorly as the current Crown, lots of discounts can be expected. It looks more like a Lexus in and out. A super quick check, shows an XLE for $47K in DFW. Actually, i think that's MSRP. or TSRP? Color choices a bit meh. Please go drive one (so i don't have to). Value...well, hard to beat Camry for that.
The Crown Signia looks to be a great car/wagon/thing, but it’s also significantly cheaper because it doesn’t have the hybrid max engine like the sedan does, and instead shares the same A25A engine and standard hybrid system with Camry and RX. As such funny thing about the Crown Signia is that it basically is a Camry wagon reincarnated!
I think the reason Honda does not include all-wheel drive in the Accord is because it is not necessary ,but at the same time their car should be cheaper than the Camry
AWD can be really useful for those who want a sedan but get serious winter weather. For the longest time if you wanted AWD you were stuck buying a much more expensive crossover, so I like that we’re seeing it on affordable sedans these days.
@@joshjamescarsagree, I'm just concerned that adding all-wheel drive may affect reliability, and by the way, if you are not a good driver in snowy conditions no all-wheel, four-wheel is going to help you. It's better to just stay home.
No, AWD won’t affect reliability at all. It’s the same eAWD system (electric motor on the rear axel) that’s been used in the Rav4, RX, Highlander, Prius, NX, and other hybrids for years. And Toyota’s hybrids consistently rank higher in reliability than their non-hybrid counterparts.
@charlesjackson1700 Toyota has actually said all cars will go hybrid only not just the Rav4. Sienna, Sequoia, Camry, Prius, etc. are already there. And the 4Runner now offering a hybrid, the only vehicles in the lineup to not offer a hybrid are GR cars, which would make it easy to drop the gas-only versions of the rest of them too.
@@joshjamescarsHow embarrassing for me lol. When you were playing with the buttons I thought I saw the scalloped bezel, helium escape valve, and skeletonized hands of a Seamaster. I've got the black SMP and love it.
Nooo, we’re so happy with our current cars I don’t think we need anything else at the moment. And I definitely wouldn’t trade our V6 Camry for this one.
I actually agree with you on the LE! I owned a Prius LE for a few months last year and it was great. And yes at the mirage, but a Civic LX at $24K is arguably twice the car the Mirage was.
As stated clearly in the video, that is NOT correct but also remember when cars are new they often end up sitting on lots and idling with the engine on, etc. so it could have been doing that for months before I ever got into it. My real world average in this car driving it without consideration to efficiency was 45-48.
@@joshjamescars I passed on buying a 24'nx hybrid because of the infotainment system. You are on a short list who's brave enough to call out Lexus for this
I don’t think the XSE is “better” than the XLE, they’re just two different versions of the top trim. One is more “luxury” (XLE) and one is sporting driving (XSE). XSE has the sport tuned suspension and rides more firmly, XLE has the regular suspension tuning and rides more softly.
Totally agree. I believe the XLE does come standard with the light gray headliner, and in there you can also get the light-grey/white leather seats as well! Pano roof also helps immensely to brighten up the cabin.
Get rid of the Crown and bring back the Avalon with updated features and a price in the mid-40’s. It would be a better option between the Camry and the Lexus sedans.
Not him flashing us his new ray ban glasses to blend with the car. Im going to be honest, your Camry is quieter than the new one, but you right abt the front...he is gorgeous in person. Now, compared to your Camry...who the most comfy and easy to use ? Abt the crown ... that is a Japanese car, Toyota should never bring to US to be honest. They are trying to popularize the Crown in North America , I think to bring more revenue to Toyota, but that price is crazy for a Crown when you can grab a 2022 or 2023 ES 350 or RX450(if you looking for the v6 and comfort). Would I buy one Camry instead of Accord or Sonata...uhhh ion. PSA: read the manual the infotainment page, how to personalize the cluster
Haha! I actually ended up buying two pairs of those because I liked them so much. I now have them with the blue Hawaii lenses and the standard black lenses LOL. As for comfort, I think that goes to the new one. I was really surprised at how cushy this XSE felt. Our V6 is definitely more firm, but I think that matches the vibe of the V6. The hybrid isn’t about sporting driving so having it tuned to feel a little softer makes sense. This new Camry also shares its seats with the Prius, which means they’re really comfy but lacking the bolstering we have in our Camry. Again, makes sense since you don’t need that with a hybrid. As for the Crown… it’s a Japanese car that from what I understand not even the Japanese like. I’ve heard that in Japan, Crown Sport and the actual luxury Crown touring sedan outsell the crown crossover (what our crown is called there).
We’re already there with the hybrid max system! :) The standard non-turbo hybrid system will always be aimed at efficiency and so power will never be its mission in life.
You definitely do not have to go up to the top trim anymore, though. And I wouldn’t. I’d be buying an LE or SE for closer to $30-35K. Which happens to be around the same price as a nicely optioned Civic these days. The Civic hybrid I believe will top out near $35.
Ah the XLE is great too. That’s probably the one I’d buy too because I like the interior better than the XSE.
@kayanoreeves1949 I fully agree on the XLE. I also much prefer the white-ish interior option in there over the black or red in the XSE.
Haha congratulations!! I haven’t yet seen an ocean gem with the black roof, but I can imagine how good that looks!

Excellent review! Logical, factual, honest and clearly presented. CR like! 😊
XSE or XLE? AWD required 🇨🇦
Hahaha
Take care and thanks again for such a thoughtful response. I will be sure to like and watch all of your videos, Josh

Same here Brian on all of your points.
@brianbarbe9646 Haha yes at the instrument cluster setup. It’s a mess… hopefully they’ll improve it with software updates over time.
Thanks for your very informative assessment of the new Camry. I’ve heard nothing but good about it from all reviews.
You’re welcome! There’s really not much to complain about here for the price!
I bought one and I’m very happy
Love your logical and informative reviews. Great job!!
Thank you!
The extra tech is the Achilles' Heel of cars. Speedometers should still at least be analog.
Great review! It’s why I keep coming back 😎. Thank you Josh.
Thank you! And thanks for always coming back!
Thanks for the review, Josh! It would also be great to hear your opinion about the new Toyota Crown Signia which is also less than $50k and fully manufactured in Japan.
Yes! I’m hoping to be able to do that sometime soon too. They’re just now hitting dealers, and I imagine there will probably be a line of folks waiting for one but as soon as I can get one, I’ll give it a go.
love the channel and love that ocean color!
Thank you!! And the color is amazing!
Great job!! 👏
I test drove a xse then the Crown..
Still holding out for the Crown sport that looks like a Macan 😂
I like the IS as well as you mentioned it, but the interior so dated and the camera quality.. oh but that V6 😅
Hello!!! Been meaning to respond to this for so long! Been a busy, busy week. Yes to Crown Sport coming here… if that comes (and if they bring it with a PHEV drivetrain) I’ll buy one so fast… I wish they had brought that instead of the Crown Signia.
Ah, the beauty of colors. And, something besides black on the interior. Kirk Kreifels got 62mpg on the LE model. Toyota has hybrid down.
They definitely do!
great review!! question. Should i get the Camry 2025 SE or Camry 2024 SE- non hybird? i cant decide lol
What puts the 2025 Camry ahead of Honda's Accord is several things:
1. AWD option - I think they're doing this because of their Acura branch. The Accord really should be given an AWD option
2. Hybrid entry level is at the base level of the Camry, you have to go up to the Sports-L/Touring to get the hybrid
3. Overall design of the exterior is much better looking (imo) vs. the accord. It's sharper and more aggressive looking
4. Color. The Accord on the interior does not have a lot of color to it, just a ton of the same color/monotoned. Camry, you're given a lot of options (White, Red, Black, etc.)
I'll be getting a new car soon, and I think the Camry will be it.
You forgot to mention that the Camry is going to be more reliable than the Accord.
I chose the Camry over the m Accord and have no regrets. Drove them both several times. Good luck !
Thank you!
@@joshjamescars you’re welcome
With Josh +1, regarding the color match. It is more work to coordinate all colors that are additional, but makes it more elegant instead of utilitarian.
Yes!! Exactly my thoughts.
Color gorgeous..fit and finish shocked..😮 I will keep my 22 ES350 FSPORT V6

Thank you.
Hey Josh love the channel. Does the 2025 Camry have power folding mirrors?
It does not. For that, you’ll have to get the Lexus ES. And thank you! Glad you’re enjoying!
Blue are the people here

Blue like my Camry, its in and outside...

I love watched your review. it is like a friend's review
I'm so glad you felt that way! :)
so wait until next year for the improvements to the quality control...i got the first mazda 3 2019 redesign and theres several electronic issues i experience.
@@joshjamescars here is where you say the. XSE is better than the XLE. Can you be more specific? Thanks
@iratashman7202 I replied to your other comment please read that.
Your home is beautiful-- most of us can only dream of.
I think it looks nicer than it is in real life. 😂
@@joshjamescars You're too modest Josh, that's why you're so appealing.
Is Toyota building any camry XLE with the QP pkg? I cant any
Not sure what the QP package refers to but if you don’t see any in your region it may mean that it’s not a popular option there and so you may want to look at other states to see if you can find one elsewhere and have it shipped to you. A lot of times regions will request that cars not get sent to their region with specific options because they know they’ll have a hard time selling.
Hi Josh, what are your thoughts on the Toyota Crown?I'll wait for your response if you come across this comment..
Yes! Simple, effective, and 27 years old since it came out in the first gen Prius in 1997.
@@joshjamescars No belts, chains or pulleys. Continuous improvement, that’s what Toyota does best.
I like your car review
The body-colored front grill actually makes it look like a Lexus. It looks similar RX350 front grill.
Yes! Though I personally think the beluga whale or overbite look of the RX is unattractive. I think the Camry and Crown Signia pull it off better.
I wish it was a plugin wagon. The new crown signing is so expensive compared to the Camry
I’m guessing we’ll get a plug in Crown Signia since it exists in Japan. But yes! The Crown Signia is definitely expensive relative to the Camry.
I just bought one that color but with the black roof
Also panoramic sunroof
Congratulations!!! That’s a great spec!!
@@joshjamescars The New 2025 UX300h has 3.0. Yet it does not have a touch sensitive wheel. We just bought it Aug 3,2024. 🤷♂️
Well done!!!
Thank you!
@@joshjamescars cool. Just started watching your road trip vid. I was about to say…what about the Prada store!!…and now you’re there. 😂
So much more than a car review
I hope that’s a good thing, thank you!
Hoping to see your review and option on the crown signia. There are lots of reviews but they’re eh blah. lol
If I can get my hands on one, I will definitely do a proper video on it!
They need to put this in the next gen Rav4. The 5th gen hybrid is so good! Very punchy off the line.
I’m sure they will since the NX is already on gen-5 and the Rav should come out with an entirely new generation in 2026.
Nice Seamaster
Thanks! The watch in the video is a Sub, but I have two seamasters that I absolutely love! One 300m, one Planet Ocean.
@@joshjamescarsHow embarrassing for me lol. When you were playing with the buttons I thought I saw the scalloped bezel, helium escape valve, and skeletonized hands of a Seamaster. I've got the black SMP and love it.
@MrBacchus18 Oh! You may have. I may have been wearing a different watch in some of the cutaway clips! :) I do swap them out all the time!
Are you gonna get one Josh?
Nooo, we’re so happy with our current cars I don’t think we need anything else at the moment. And I definitely wouldn’t trade our V6 Camry for this one.
lol “only” $42k. I say the base LE is all you need. Even “cheap” cars aren’t cheap anymore.
The discontinued Mitsubishi Mirage even peaked at $21k!
I actually agree with you on the LE! I owned a Prius LE for a few months last year and it was great. And yes at the mirage, but a Civic LX at $24K is arguably twice the car the Mirage was.
Toyota gets me so depressed on there prices
Dealerships markup are out of control
No markup on my new Camry
2:30 i went to 3 dealers in sf bay area and out the door price is over $50k
Unless you’re looking at a top end trim with all the options, there’s no way it should be $50K. You need to laugh in their faces and walk right out.
33 MPG indicated for a Toyota hybrid? That is really poor if correct.
As stated clearly in the video, that is NOT correct but also remember when cars are new they often end up sitting on lots and idling with the engine on, etc. so it could have been doing that for months before I ever got into it. My real world average in this car driving it without consideration to efficiency was 45-48.
your next test drive car should be Lexus es300h 2024 to tell us the difference versus this Camry =)
I actually am spending the day with one as we speak! Don’t have time to do a full on review but will be sharing some of that. :)
@@joshjamescars awesome!!

@@joshjamescars I passed on buying a 24'nx hybrid because of the infotainment system. You are on a short list who's brave enough to call out Lexus for this
Nice, humorous opinionated spin on car reviews Josh, keep it up
Haha thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
How is the XSE better than the XLE?
I don’t think the XSE is “better” than the XLE, they’re just two different versions of the top trim. One is more “luxury” (XLE) and one is sporting driving (XSE). XSE has the sport tuned suspension and rides more firmly, XLE has the regular suspension tuning and rides more softly.
@@joshjamescars I read your response to @joelcummings where you said the XSE is a ‘tier above’ the XSE.
@iratashman7202 Ah! I just meant in price and how Toyota structures out the tier walk.
Is it still built in Japan?
Camry has been made in Kentucky since the 80s.
@@joshjamescars Shame, thought the hybrid would come from Japan like my Prius; Bulletproof.
@JD-xo3xz Nope. A lot of hybrids are made in the US or Canada including Camry, ES, RX, NX, and others.
Black seats and black inner roof lining makes it very dark and gloomy. Should have a choice for white roof lining
Totally agree. I believe the XLE does come standard with the light gray headliner, and in there you can also get the light-grey/white leather seats as well! Pano roof also helps immensely to brighten up the cabin.
Hard to find grey interior,
@adrienchan2097 I see a fair number of them where I live.
You said it, a boring cvt appliance. Maybe I'll take a look at the new Tundra 4 banger. lol
You get a real transmission… and real transmission failures in there. 😂
You should trade up to a house with a much bigger garage to have a whole stable of cool vehicles.
Haha! If interest rates and home prices weren’t so high I would! But also, it’s a good thing that we don’t have the space for 5 cars!!
Get rid of the Crown and bring back the Avalon with updated features and a price in the mid-40’s. It would be a better option between the Camry and the Lexus sedans.
Yep!! Exactly this.
@@joshjamescars Toyota should start sending some cars to test drive. Like crown 👑 for example 😁
Under $30k? Where?😂
I see all trims, but especially base Camry LEs being discounted by over $1K where I am. Would bring you to around $29 before taxes and fees.
I think Toyota will continue to perfect there hybred and one day soon it will be a powerful mofo.
We’re already there with the hybrid max system! :) The standard non-turbo hybrid system will always be aimed at efficiency and so power will never be its mission in life.
Agree. RX is a fail for this generation. Hence the value for the older RX is holding so well.
Hi Josh, previous Camry looks better than new one in my opinion.
I agree. I still prefer our Camry to the new one but the new one has grown on me. I no longer think it looks flat out strange.
"good, cheap car" well top XSE price is about 47-48k not really cheap. Top, cheap car is a new Honda Civic
You definitely do not have to go up to the top trim anymore, though. And I wouldn’t. I’d be buying an LE or SE for closer to $30-35K. Which happens to be around the same price as a nicely optioned Civic these days. The Civic hybrid I believe will top out near $35.
I wanted v6...it was too expensive
