That means there’s no micro SD card in the camera! :) if it’s a new car definitely go back and have them put one in for you. Or, if it’s a used car or you just installed it, you’ll need to put one in (you can get one on Amazon, look for a SanDisk SDXC card). That’s what the camera records to so if there’s no card, it’s not saving anything.

No differences at all. In 2022 the GX got the updated infotainment and that carried on until the end of production in 2023.

@sal5101 thank you! It’s less about mileage and more about how the vehicle was cared for. For example, a lease return should have less than 36K miles, but you’ll probably see some lease returns that have been treated as such. So my advice is always to have an independent mechanic go with you to see any car you’re interested in and they can be the judge of what kind of condition it’s in. It’s also possible for any car to have accident damage that’s been repaired and you definitely want to avoid those as well.

@@joshjamescarswe live in ireland but usually try to get over to japan if we can during the summer, osaka and kyoyo last year. to see how everything works there makes you realize why their products, all of them not just Toyota, run and work so well.

The “X year” period is not length of the warranty but age of the car. Also, just so you know, what you really did was buy 7 years of additional coverage because your new car factory warranty is in play for the first 3 years.

Interesting! If you park out in the sun on a regular basis that could also be sun damage. Leather is like skin-it can get damaged over time by the heat and UV rays that cars are exposed to.

I think I understand what you’re asking, but the construction is solid. The outermost layer is a tough ripstop nylon so hail should not puncture it. And inside, it’s like a bouncy house-the blower is constantly filling the inner pocket with air and keeping it taut.

Thank you! Interior noise is what you would expect from an economy car. I think people have a misconception (partly because of the current price) that this is a premium vehicle but it’s important to remember that the Rav Prime is just an econobox with a high-tech powertrain. That said, the Prime has acoustic glass on the windshield and front windows which helps. But a Camry, Venza, etc. will all be quieter. And so again… for me I feel like the car is worth the $30K we paid, but not the $45-55K that it costs to buy today.

Link to those in the video description! And yes! I agree at the resale value though it’s also not as good on the newer ones as what it was for you and I who purchased in 2021. Our car is still worth about what we paid out of pocket. The 24s and 15s seem to depreciate like any other Rav hybrid. Which is still very good! But I think all the incentives we were able to get in the early years really did offset the depreciation as you say!

Keep the Wrangler, it’s a better dedicated off-roader than a 4Runner, and you have the Tundra for long haul V8 driving! That’s the perfect combo IMO. And the resale value of those are holding so well compared to the new twin turbo 6s which are just tanking in value.

Forester Hybrid doesn’t use Toyota (planetary style gear-set) eCVT, it uses the same Subaru Lineartronic belt and pulley CVT as all the other cars which I don’t like. I believe they have to use that became of the way the symmetrical AWD system works. I’m also not a fan of the Subaru infotainment system where everything is on the giant 11” touchscreen. Though the AWD system is fantastic. So the CVT and 11” screen might be a worthwhile trade off if you need the AWD. CR-V hybrid also has a true mechanical AWD system as well. The Mazda is great-the Mazda CX50 really is a station wagon, though, so you have to be okay with the lower, more car-like driving position. I find the seats to be kind of stiff. I don’t think you should do anything until we know what the 2026 Rav (which should be all-hybrid) is like. That should be shown later this year.

@ I’m reading that Subaru’s new hybrids (Crosstrek and Forester) are using Toyota’s planetary eCVT adapted longitudinally to accommodate their engine and AWD systems (not Subaru’s conventional CVT). There’s information all over the Tube and the 🕸️ about it. Watch Redlines (Sofyan) overview of it he breaks it down pretty well.

@tails300 That would be GREAT if that’s the case! I need to catch up on the details of it. That would absolutely make it worth buying. In that case, however, I’d give it a year or so to work out the bugs. That’s a pretty major change to the way the gearset has worked in Toyota’s hybrids.

Oh yes, right you are! Thanks for letting me know! The changes do sound GREAT, but also it’s a very different and brand new architecture, so I’m excited to see how that works but I would definitely give it a year. Toyota’s hybrids are generally trouble free but there are always bugs and kinks in the first year of new generations. Same was true in the Prime. We had 3 recalls for some things that got solved in 22 and 23.

Same! I think if they keep pricing similar to the current model it’ll keep their dominance in this class. And hopefully they’ll be able to make a lot more PHEVs too since this will likely be entirely made in North America down to the battery.

Yes!! And the savings from gas you’re getting up in Vancouver I’m sure are tremendous.

Gas is $6.80 CDN a gallon or $4.73 a gallon USD. Yes $5-$10 a day on electricity alone. Then hybrid savings after that. I was on a waiting list for a hybrid for 2 years and I got lucky to get a prime someone else passed up on. Waiting list is 3-4 years for a prime here because Canada doesn’t get a fair share of allotment compared to the US.

@philipf2705 that’s crazy that the wait is still that long. Meanwhile, they can’t sell them at MSRP here. Good lease cash on the hood and discounts are common now.

Hello! I’ve talked about Subaru in the past in various Q&As and such-I like Subaru, and have owned an Outback! It was a 2018 3.6R Touring so it had their amazing flat-six boxer engine. I really like Subaru except for the fact that all their cars use a CVT. I like the Forester except for that. The Rav gas model uses an 8-speed automatic which would be my preference. I also personally don’t particularly care for the giant 11” touchscreen that is in the new Forester. Otherwise, it’s a great car! And Subaru’s AWD system is legendary. If you’re looking between the two, definitely DO NOT buy now. There is an all-new Rav4 coming later this year and the Forester hybrid is coming out later this year as well. The Forester hybrid is going to use an eCVT which will make it much better. And in general, both the next-gen Rav and Forester hybrid will be improvements over the models that are out now.

We live in Texas (energy is cheap here) and on average it’s about $250/month, for a 4B/2,500 square foot house at about 18 cents/kWh on average.

I consider that to include any quality issues to be anything that you have to take the car in for issues with. A lot of cars I’ve had have had (especially newer Toyota products which seem to be built way more cheaply, but also the European and American cars we’ve owned) to go in for unscheduled repair in the first 3 years, Toyota included. Rattles, squeaks, misalignment of panels, things becoming loose, materials wearing prematurely, etc.

Congratulations!! The LE hybrid is such a great value. Also, with Toyota hybrids you’ll see your fuel economy improve as the car breaks in as well and the systems get used to your driving style. :)
