In 1990, I was a ten-year-old girl visiting a video game store in San Jose. My mom, her brother, and the proprietor all tried to convince me not to buy The Legend of Zelda, because it was too hard. I am going to be thirty-eight next Tuesday, and I'm so glad I didn't listen to them. I'm saving up to buy Breath of the Wild, and eventually want to get the GBA rereleases of a lot of the other games.
I’m currently playing botw rn and I’m so glad I decided to play it, I’m only 15 (16 very soon) but when I was around 5-7 I played Zelda all the time on my brother’s gameboy and his cube it’s such a nostalgic thing for me I have such fond memories of it, and this music really takes me back lol
Nothing cooler than the feeling you get when you step into the final dungeon. For the entire game you have grown used to the single dungeon song. Then there is Gannon, it gives you chills, it feels like the end, you are finally there, the final boss. There is something so powerful about a new song after hours upon hours of that 6 minutes of music looped.
I'll never forget getting this in 1989 for my birthday. I had collected both the red and blue rings and whistles, had a shit ton of heart HP, and was generally killing it at the game, when the power went out, cut the power to the NES during the game. When it came back and I restarted the NES, all my saves were gone. I was so angry and sad that I cried for a literal hour lol.
im about to be 22 and listening to this still hits me with a wave of nostalgia from my childhood of playing this and the other zelda games that were included in the collection i played on the nintendo game cube.
I can still see in my mind that gold cartridge. It stood out so much from all the gray around it, like it was screaming for you to look at it and play, even if for just a little bit. Then you were hooked in.
You didn't miss much. There was some better music, better cartoons, better toys, and some better TV and moves, but that's about it. Other than that it was just daytime talk show hosts like Oprah, Donahue, and Geraldo trying to convince all the fat, suburbanite housewives that theur precious fuck trophies were being fingerbanged by satanic cult members in the schools and daycare centers. And who could ever forget the moral majority. Ugh. The 80s are fun to reminisce about but I'd never want to go back.
im 14 now ive been playing this game for as long as i can remember this is what got me into gaming on my dads NES with the gold cartrige. i still to this day havent beaten the game but ive gotten back into it recently and i think its finally time.
Nintendo music is the kind that when you hear it for the first time in ages you cry.this gives me that feel, along with n64 rainbow road, a few Galaxy soundtracks and theres a lot more of them.these are the best
On my 11th birthday I got TLOZ, that gold cartridge, I knew this gonna be the shit lol. And hearing the music for the 1st time when you put it in, was mesmerizing. Those were the days, now I play those ROM hacks of Zelda games for nostalgia moments.
Wow! amazing to hear this after all these years. I played this game when it first came out. I'm in my middle ages now and can remember finishing both the game and the second run after typing in "Zelda" a hard mode. lol I even remember Nintendo having the monthly subscription my mom used to get for me walking thru this game. I beleive it was called Nintendo Power. great late 80's game for my childhood years. great upload!
Alfredo Rosado You know you didn't need to enter your name as "Zelda" to do the second quest, right? If you finished the game on your file, open it again and the second quest will begin.
after listening to the Famicom Disk System enhanced version of the title theme, this version sounds a little bit empty, I mean, you can clearly hear that one channel is completely missing.
Because it's an old and iconic part of gaming history, and a lot of people are nostalgic for it, including some people you might have had contact with or seen on the internet with. I suppose there must be such a thing as contact nostalgia. 🤔
Something about this feels so magical, and it's hard to explain why. Orchestra music is here to say for The Legend of Zelda series and it's all great stuff, but there's something about the simplicity of this chiptune music and how it's still able to convey specific emotions and feeling just goes to show how much of an incredibly composer Koji Kondo is.
Today, the Legend of Zelda series turns 33. I would type some hearts, but the amount of hearts needed to encompass my love and gratitude for this series would break RUclips. so, I'll settle for just one: From the bottom of my heart, *Thank you, Nintendo!*
One thing I really cherish about Zelda 1 and 2 is that the final dungeons have unique music. Link to the Past sadly didn't do this. And then in OOT all the dungeons musics became unique. As a kid it really made you feel special that you made it to the final level.
Only thing missing from the 5:27 "best dungeon" music is the sound of 15 hearts being refilled from empty. Something about that added effect is really satisfying.
The two rooms of Dark Knights to get that stinkin whistle. We wore that whistle out after retrieving it for the first time. It was quite a victory. It made the whistle seem like buried treasure.
You have to realize what they were working with- it was an 8 bit system. At the time, I was blown away- the melody, even to this day, ranks at the top for me- and would place it beside a movie soundtrack from John Williams or Hans Zimmer
Very few of us grew up off the gold cartridge Zelda for NES. A LTTP will always be my favorite but the original always had a special place in my heart since I was 5.
+Kris Kallies I really like the game Contra, for the NES. With its two player co-op multiplayer, me and my friends had a lot of memories playing it. Especially the one time my dad bought seafood for us after we finished the game ;)
wow cool. i bet you used screen capture tech to do this. i use to do that when I played NES. I'd used to hook it up to the vcr and then connect the whole outfit to a tv and would be able to record the actual game play LOL too bad i don't have the tapes yet lol.
Death (5:36) and The Ending (7:10) have very similar melodies. I've always said that, "There's something magical about the original Legend of Zelda." If Nostalgia is the Afterlife, then there truly is something magical about this game.
I'm 46 years old and you have taken me back all the way to my childhood.. Wonderful memories of my brother and me fighting over the Nintendo. Lol
This music still sounds epic
its cool that's just fine!!! enough with the other comment!!!!! you hear on TV. commercials!!!
It is epic!
______Even more so on my Bose sound link color 2.
Possibly the best Nintendo soundtrack of all the original games...
Agree

It was the right choice, long live Zelda.
It was definitely the right choice.
Nice botw got ,e into the series I’m young so I’m ready for the next generation and my uncle gave us his n64 so I can play ocarina of time

it's a very special game indeed
Remind generations hundreds of years from now to pay respects to this classic masterpiece.
wow this soundtrack is only 9 minutes, and now we have 4 hour soundtracks. it's great to see how far we've come...
It's dangerous to go alone. Take this.
It's dangerous to go alone. Take every knight in the kingdom
Brian Lawler Amen!
Take this! *gives a bomb*

same but with virtual console (wii)
Im 13 and these were the kind of games I played as a kid because my dad wanted to share his childhood with me. I love this so much!
same
This music is so freaking legendary and iconic; this composer set the bar high for other video games to compete. It's freaking hypnotic!
86, the year I was born. Along with Zelda, Metroid,.. Good year;)
I still have my mom's NES from the 80's and it works perfectly on my HDTV. I love it so much
my dad took out his nes and that was my first console lol
the first two songs: tears in my eyes....

All these 8 bit songs bring back so many great memories of my childhood. My brother and i were nes junkies
These sounds from the older days are so beautiful.
I feel nostalgic and it makes me get wet with tears even though I didn't live those days.

Title screen theme will always be my favorite NES tune.

nostalgic. thanks so much for putting this up!
Although I didn’t grow up with these songs or games, the soundtrack is still amazing
This melody is so iconic, just heard it in breath of the wild and got chills. Rlly took me back
I loved my childhood...so many memories hearing this...thanks Zeldafan!!!!
I love this. Nostalgia all over. One of the best video game music ever
Wow! amazing to hear this after all these years. I played this game when it first came out. My first game on the NES. I think I just walked through a wall! Thank you, my friend, for bringing me back to happy carefree times!
Happy 30th Birthday Legend of Zelda!!!!
icemanowns1 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
For 1986, the original Zelda was a great hit.
Yess the beginning of an amazing franchise~
So magical
after listening to the Famicom Disk System enhanced version of the title theme, this version sounds a little bit empty, I mean, you can clearly hear that one channel is completely missing.
I'm fourteen how am i feeling nostalgic towards this?!
Because it's an old and iconic part of gaming history, and a lot of people are nostalgic for it, including some people you might have had contact with or seen on the internet with. I suppose there must be such a thing as contact nostalgia. 🤔
I've always found the main theme to be a banger, no matter how old it is. It always gets stuck in my head when I remember it
It's amazing they could make such great music with nothing to work with besides square waves and white noise
Nerd chills start at 4:18
4:13 guess I was the only weird kid that loved that song lol
+one37am No it was one of my favorites, too :D
+one37am I liked this song best for this game too- really dramatic.
one37am Nah
Put that shit on 1.5 speed vro
By far my favourite soundtrack of this game. A dark, dramatic and mysterious theme.

so, I'll settle for just one:

6:15 The music made the last level harder because it made you so tense.
Every time I hear these songs it's time to go on journey to save the princess. Takes me back to when I was younger. Now all I need is to find my sword
When Zelda was still imagination-inspiring, difficult, and enjoyably open-world.
"This is Hyrule, you are Link, there is a cave. Good luck."
MrTree1779 It is back to where it started in BOTW :)
MrTree1779 which Games are you talking about? There is hardly any bad Zelda game out there.
@@aliimiza8421 Except for that one that we like to pretend never existed
leavemealone2006 you mean Zelda CDi? I don’t consider them as Zelda games.
1779 was an 18th century year. Huh?!
That first note gets me every time
Possibly the most underrated video game soundtrack ever
Speed up to 1.5x to sound fit in

This song defines my childhood. Can’t believe it sounded this digital. It gave me goosebumps!
Probably one of the greatest games ever! Especially for me I was 10 when this game came out! Ocarina of time a close second, wind waker 3rd!
I started my life with this game 🤣😍
Zelda Svensson 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 me to
So much nostalgia!!!
I was humming overworld to myself while working today ❤
Awesome memories. The theme song is haunting.
Masterpiece
I love this soundtrack
wow, this game is so good I never noticed that it only had like 5 songs.
i feel old listing to this
love classic Zelda music

My Childhood right there :')
You know what I think would be really awesome? If someone were to make a movie with the plot of the original Legend Of Zelda game for the NES!
jackrobinson82 Except don't because they would totally fuck it all up and it would be shit.
With an essentially non-reactive antagonist?
happy anniversary

It still amazes me that this game was built on 128k of ram!!! Took me months to beat!!! Best money i ever spent!
always come back to this vid for some reason
6:10 the whistle tune from Mario 3 wtf?
Older I get the more I respect. Good game music. Not just child hood.
These are actual musicians making the sound track. To gamer life.
Best game
The legend of Zelda!!
Why is nostalgia so sad?
It hurts yet feels so great at the same time
Because you can never go back. Nostalgia is only healthy in small doses. Otherwise, it can destroy you emotionally.
i cry man
Ah yes. The first game I ever rage quitted. I’m picturing my 9 year old self going berserk.
Game is legend! Do I love the castle music, very mysterious and haunting.
