Man I absolutely hate mascara. Everyone says it’s like the bare minimum makeup if you are gonna wear makeup tho. And I mean, for me it kinda is. When I was younger I had the terrible habit of pulling out my eyelashes and eyebrows and had to go to doctors for it and now my eyelashes are kinda damaged. My eyebrows somehow recovered fully and they look amazing and I’m very proud of them, just not my eyelashes. And so I’m wanting to wear mascara to help offset the fact that I don’t have very many eyelashes (although, it may actually highlight that fact, it kinda depends on the mascara for me) but I HATE taking it off. My mom insists that her face wash helps take off her mascara. It doesn’t for me AT ALL. So I resort to, with water and my fingers, lightly tugging to get that stuff off, and I hate it so much. It takes more eyelashes out and it just hurts and takes forever and doesn’t even get it all out. I’m gonna try the oil method. But I’m also really apprehensive of mascara in general and if it doesn’t work well then I’m just going to not wear mascara at all

Thank you so much for this video. My eyelids have been swelling for years fluctuantly and now I know why… I wear heavy eye makeup daily but never used makeup remover-only acne face washes. It was a vicious cycle of trying to use makeup to hide the swelling, and then ignorantly using harsh cleansers to rub the makeup off. When I went without eye makeup for a period, this swelling would vanish. But then I’d start using eye makeup again just to feel a little good about myself, and the cycle would start all over again. Right now my skin is so dry and irritated, but worse of all, there is a cyst in my eyelid, two permanent black spots on my eyeballs under the lid, and my lashes fall out all the time. I feel like such an unbelievable idiot. Thank you for educating us, Dr.! ❤
My mother has used vasaline to remove her eye makeup (and the rest of her makeup) for all of my 30+ years of knowing her. She does tug and pull quite a bit but she doesn't like to do a cleanse after. However, when I do have some eye makeup that's being stubborn, vasaline does work well to get it moving and my Cerave cleanser does the rest of the work easily.

I use a diy mixture of melted coconut oil, baby shampoo, and water in a glass container, and shake well. It works great. My eye make-up, as well as the rest of my make-up comes right off. The mixture is very gentle, and rinses off very easily, leaving your skin feeling very moisturized. I always double cleanse with my Cerave moisturizing cleanser. They're a match made in heaven.
The BEST makeup remover is my old stand by cleanser, Purity Made Simple Cleanser by Philosophy. It’s a gentle gel cleanser that does foam up a little. But it removes waterproof mascara and makeup without stinging your eyes. I’m 59 with fair skin & eczema prone. They worked with doctors on this formula. TJMAXX, Ulta, & Sephora sell it even up front in the small bottles for people to try. No need to buy a separate eye makeup remover. I also refer you to the videos on here by QVC for Info & Demos.😉

I bought Neutrogena body oil from the States since it is not sold here. It took a month and cost a lot in shipping but I was thrilled to finally get something that would remove mascara. Well, I tried it that night and it took ages trying to get my mascara off then I took a shower and came out with panda eyes so I used it again. My eyes were so sore and irritated and I did not even use it with waterproof mascara! I really do not recommend using this if you have sensitive eyes.

I follow it up with gentle facial cleanser. I also CLEAN my eyeliner pencil tips with 70% rubbing alcohol after using so that it is clean for every application.
Hey Dr Dray, the Neutrogena Fragrance Free Body Oil ingredients list is a little different from what you said: Isopropyl myristate, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed oil, PEG-40 sorbitan peroleate, propylparaben, BHT. Is this still ok 👍?
Get some contact lens cleaning solution to wet the q-tip before running it along your waterline. It cleans up makeup there and is less irritating than running a dry q-tip there.
I've heard that using oil based products on the eyes (such as petroleum jelly) can cause or advance cataracts. Do you know if there is any truth to that?
Since she is a doctor and said the America Acedemy of Ophthalmologists recommends vaseline, no. I just had cataract surgery at age 58. Unusual, but it happens.
I use Trader Joe’s jojoba oil. Just a few drops rubbed gently into each eyelid will breakup makeup and mascara. It does not sting my eyes and washes off easily. I think jojoba oil is supposed to be good for the skin and the eye lashes too.
I find that Dawn removes the oil cleanser without irritation. That is a suggestion for a video...all the uses for Dawn dishwashing liquid. I have used it as a bubble bath and a clarifying shampoo and a cleanser with no negative results.

Just sliding a wet cotton pad on my face without removing almost any sunscreen irritated my skin soo much! I'm very happy I found that video that have many suggestions for my problem, thank you!
I don't wear eye makeup (it has become very irritating to me in recent years - I also can't wear contacts) because I have rosacea affiliated blepharitis. Also, lots of people recommend tea tree oil for blepharitis and, let me just say, that was the worst. It was fine at first and then it became so extremely uncomfortable. Hot compress and gentle surfactant is far superior.
I just used Dove sensative skin and a baby wash cloth. It gently washed off my eye makeup off in no time. I just closed my eyes tight in case it burned them, and I had eyelids sudsy but didn't bother me or get into my eyes. It did the job but would prefer my cerave still.
Great info Dr Dray. BIODERMA soaked cotton pads placed over eyes for two minutes without rubbing will melt eye makeup (even waterproof mascara). Lisa Eldridge, MUA to many stars and runway models does this for in between shoots. If you’ve ever used Inglot eyeliner this product is incredibly difficult to remove even with oil but Bioderma gently gets it off. I will use my favorite oil cleanser, Physicians Formula cleansing balm Matcha, then Follow it up with a face cleaner and then any make up left I will put bioderma on a cotton swab and dab it off.
What about eye drops? I've seen Drew Barrymore uses them after removing mascara, to get everything out. I'm thinking this is unnecessary, since our eyes tear up if there is something in them, but would love to hear your opinion. Hugs from Europe xxx
Not everyone’s eyes produce sufficient tears to keep their eyes free of debris and well moisturized. This could be why Drew Barrymore uses lubricant drops (preservative-free).
I use saline solution (the type, you use, to rinse off your contact lenses) to rinse out my eyes in the evening. This was recommended to me by an eye doctor years ago, to help with seasonal allergies. I was shocked, to see, how much 'stuff' comes out sometimes...especially whenever I use more make up, than mascara. It also feels really, really good. Because it's saltwater (like your tears!), it feels cleansing and refreshing, it doesn't sting or irritate the eyes at all, quite the opposite.
@@raraavis7782 wow! Thank you so much for this. As I've gotten older and on the days I wear makeup the next day esp upon waking my eyes feel gritty and swollen. I'm going to try this!
Albolene is one of my FAVORITE products and I have recommended this product to all of my clients for the double cleanse process. It is inexpensive and is effective. I've never had anyone experience any kind of allergy or irritation from this product either.
I use OCuSoft Lid Scrub recommended by my ophthamologist. It's safe and gentle on lids and eyes. It does a good job at removing my non- waterproof mascara and keeps my lashes healthy. Then I follow with Neostrata Restore facial cleanser. I love it!...Non- irritating to my eyes and leaves my face soft and clean.✨
DIY eye makeup remover Equal parts oil, witch hazel and distilled water. Works great, is not irritating at all. Followed by your normal gentle cleanser. I also use habo labo oil cleanser but I find it does not completely remove my eye makeup.
Cerave hydrating cleanser works good taking off my makeup. Then I very softly wipe my mascara off with that and a microfiber wash cloth. I buy the microfiber wash cloths at dollar general.
Hello Dr. Dray, I have a question I hope you can answer. I've been using the CeraVe Salycilic Acid cream during the night, and the Ordinary AHA BHA peeling solution once a week, is it too much exfoliation for my skin? Have a wonderful day!😊
Neutrogena Body Oil to remove mascara? Brillant. I used this product on by pregnant belly for 9 months straight and swear it helped with no stretch marks etc...
I drove to 3 different stores to find Neutrogena Body Oil, fragrance free, and IT DOESN’T DO ANYTHING TO REMOVE MY MASCARA. That is the sole reason I purchased it. 😩 My mascara isn’t even waterproof (?) i had to scrub and scrub with the oil and it didn’t take it off. I wonder if I got a different kind. You said it’s made with sunflower oil but mine says sesame oil. I used the Benefit They’re Real mascara. The Bioderma Micellar water removes it in a swipe. I guess I have to stick with that.

Your skin looks awesome Dr. Dray! 💕
Is the Neutrogena body oil effective with waterproof mascara as well?
Just purchased Albolene! Thank you!
Mary Kay eye make up remover is the only one that has worked for me :)
buy this oil without thinking since I saw that you recommend it!
I love the camomille cleanser from the body shop for years.
Same, it's great and cruelty free!
I use coconut oil followed by cleanser (currently hadolabo based on your recommendation)

Lol
Hehehe
Ohhhh, good grief🤣😂
Thank you to the moon and back for all the great information!!🌸
I bought the body oil and baby shampoo today and it works so good and Im so happy .. thanks
Good info! I’m going to go get some baby shampoo to help remove makeup gently
Walked in the living room last night saw Kerasal on tv and involuntarily yelled Dr. Dray’s feet! 🦶
lol Happy Friday!
Dr Dray runners feet that don’t look like runners feet.
Happy Friday uncle Charlie 😀 I see that commercial too and think of her too😀
@@marizzy63 :) Happy Friday! Lol at the commercial!
@@UncleCharlie111x2 Lol Lol Happy Friday!! I Hope You're Having a Splendid Day, and That Your Weekend Wii Be Amazing Friend!! Always!!
What about eye drops? I've seen Drew Barrymore uses them after removing mascara, to get everything out. I'm thinking this is unnecessary, since our eyes tear up if there is something in them, but would love to hear your opinion. Hugs from Europe xxx
it does help after I oil cleanse my make up off to really get everything off
Not everyone’s eyes produce sufficient tears to keep their eyes free of debris and well moisturized.
I use eye drops (the single use ones without preservative) to clean my eyes every day. My eye surgeon recommends it as I have oily tears.
Omg you read my concern!! Thank you thank you
I've always used baby oil to remove eye makeup, which I learned from my mom. Any problems with that that I am not aware of?
Somehow oils sting for me but if it’s working for you it’s fine then. Baby shampoo is awesome for the hair as adults too.
I use aloe vera gel with a clean reusable pad. It's much better than makeup remover but I will try an oil cleanser.
Does it rinse off a waterproof mascara?
I'm using the Walmart brand eye makeup remover...it's great...shake it first.
You can also use baby shampoo to handwash your silk pillowcases and clothing.
My mother always used baby oil to remove makeup. Never had 1 wrinkle on her face til the day she died.
Albolene is one of my FAVORITE products and I have recommended this product to all of my clients for the double cleanse process. It is inexpensive and is effective. I've never had anyone experience any kind of allergy or irritation from this product either.
I have used baby oil On cotton ball for probably 30 plus years to remove eye make up
I use OCuSoft Lid Scrub recommended by my ophthamologist.
DIY eye makeup remover
Equal parts oil, witch hazel and distilled water. Works great, is not irritating at all. Followed by your normal gentle cleanser. I also use habo labo oil cleanser but I find it does not completely remove my eye makeup.
What type of oil? Coconut oil stings my eyes something terrible 😔
Cerave hydrating cleanser works good taking off my makeup. Then I very softly wipe my mascara off with that and a microfiber wash cloth. I buy the microfiber wash cloths at dollar general.
I like Albolene Eye Make Up Remover (not the big tub; I use that on my face).
I’m going to try that neutrogena body oil for my double cleanse.

Hello Dr. Dray, I have a question I hope you can answer. I've been using the CeraVe Salycilic Acid cream during the night, and the Ordinary AHA BHA peeling solution once a week, is it too much exfoliation for my skin? Have a wonderful day!😊
it shouldn’t be unless you have sensitive or dry skin :)
I’m not Dr. Dray, lol, but I think your skin would let you know!....( red, irritated, etc, back off...)
If you’re not sure, consult with a board-certified dermatologist for advice on the right treatment plan for your skin. 😊
Neutrogena Body Oil to remove mascara? Brillant. I used this product
on by pregnant belly for 9 months straight and swear it helped with no stretch marks etc...
I agree! In a previous video you recommended the oil for the face and it works very well.
Mam your skin is glowing so much !!
What do you think of the reusable makeup remover cloths? Do they cause micro tears?
What products from Avene should we use for prone to redness, oversensitive mature skin?
Can I use coconut oil to remove face makeup too?
Your skin is so beautiful!
It says online it's sesame oil not sunflower oil, I'm really confused I can't find any that include sunflower oil, please help!
