I know this is an old video and you already got to having platinum hair, but for anyone watching, I recommend using a color remover before bleaching if you have built up box dye! Color Oops is really good and don't really damage your hair. It will make the bleaching process a lot faster. Color Oops WILL lighten your natural hair a little though so be careful.
yes, i definitely recommend a bleach test strand & a color remover test strand to see what works best as it really depends on the color, layers of color & whether it’s permanent or not. i know some ppl can’t afford that though so i would typically only use color remover on permanent dyes as sometime it does nothing for semi permanent! semi permanent removed the best with a mixture of 20 dev, dish soap, baking soda & purple shampoo! it is still v drying though :)
@@Maneatermissa yes I imagine 2 applications of colour oops might be necessary for very dark built up colours. However I don’t think it’s recommended to use colour oops and bleach on the same day as I think the bleach can actually reverse the colour removal process of colour ooops
yes I did this after dying my hair from bleached blonde to a colour too dark for my liking (once red and twice brown) and each time it really helped, and didn’t cause any visible damage whatsoever. I’ve used bleach before on fresh dyed dark hair and it really really damaged my hair for some reason - but when I bleached straight after using the hair colour remover there wasn’t much damage at all - strange but true. One thing I would say though is that the colour remover only seemed to work temporarily for me (very strange!) one instance I used it and it looked blonde again after but slowly began to turn a very light brown shade again after a week or so 🤔
I would recommend the next time you have dark box-dyed (or any dye) hair... to first use *Color Oops, Hair Color Remover* ... It does not have bleach in it. Does not have ammonia in it. It won't mess with your natural color in the roots area. But it will definitely lift out the hair dye! It smells HORRIBLE, I will admit, so be prepared for that. But it gets out & removes all of the hair dye in your hair without bleach! I left mine on for 45 minutes, and Color Oops removed all my dye! *THEN* after two weeks of allowing my hair to rest & be deep conditioned, in preparation of bleaching... I was able to bleach my hair! And it worked a lot nicer & evenly. Only had to bleach it once in my own case. Which equals less damage via bleaching, cuz I did not have to bleach it so much! Hope that helps, for future reference!
If you did a color remover like Color Oops (a non bleached based color remover) a couple times before bleaching your hair, the bleaching process woukd have been a lot easier for you. Removing Removing dye pigments first helps sooooooo much! I always do color removers on my clients to remove that dark pigment.
Brad Mondo said it doesn’t make much different to the hair when you’re bleaching it. I mean a couple of weeks won’t make your hair less damaged. Also oil doesn’t really fix your damaged hair it just makes it feel nicer in that moment. Having said that I’m glad you managed to get it to the shade you wanted. It looks like a lot of work!
Yeah, it was a lot of work and took a few months 😅. I felt like my hair could endure more if I let it breathe in between bleaches compared to back to back bleaching sessions. I think Brad Mondo actually said not to do it all back to back but I could be wrong. For me, when I use coconut oil, I have shinier and smoother hair, I'm not saying it repairs broken bonds, just that it makes a world of a difference in regards to the texture.
Brad mondo is also not even a licensed cosmetologist. It absolutely makes a difference when you space out your bleaching vs doing it at once. Bonding treatments like k18 and olaplex should be used to help the hair in between bleaching
Hello! I have some advice for you and for anyone reading this, if you can please please invest in the Olaplex line! Using the Blonde me line to bleach is great, but using the Olaplex Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatments will definitely help in taking care of you hair! I was a blonde at about level 9 for over 6 years and Olaplex really help my hair! I’m not a complete blonde anymore cause with the whole COVID thing and not being able to get supplies for dyeing I’ve decided to let my natural hair grow, and my in the process of going Gray! But I’m still using my Olaplex and it’s just really good for my hair! So Good Luck to all! ✌️
I love Olaplex!!! My favorite is no.8 (mask) and no.3, it really is key in helping your hair, but you do need to have a good hair care routine in order to make blonde hair look good!
I feel like it'd be easier to bleach your roots (if the regrowth isn't that big). Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it grows so fast but I can already see my roots 1 week after bleaching 😂
“Don’t bleach twice in the same week” Meanwhile me: *watches while waiting for my 3rd bleach for the day to work* I had blue hair for 2 years and then I dyed it black a few times. Now I’m bleaching it and it’s turning green 🤡🤡😭
Blue hair dye turns green and stains the hair when u try to remove it and in skme cases will forever stain ur hair green. I know this from personal experience. Some of my hair never turned back to blonde when i had it
Looks nice but just takes too long for Me,I'll go to the Salon. My Hubs first cousin has a shop and She is GREAT AT BLEACHIMG BLACK HAIR BLONDE AF!But I'm gonna order actic fox and do my own coloring.i always do its the best!
I did this after 8 years of black box dye too, and the same thing happened. So it is probably the years of overlapping dark dye (not sure if it being box dye actually makes it last longer though)
I would recommend olaplex. Their whole line. Give that hair some repair 🙏🏻 if you get a lift but it’s not at a cute phase get a semi permanent colour that’s a colour dark enough to unify the hair colour from top to bottom 😽
Was your hair box dyed first? I just used a color remover on my box dyed black hair of 5 years. Really really will help with the bleach process to do that first
Ok so i am about to bleach my hair after 1 year with out bleaching and using black box dyed. Thanks to the comment i remember i used color oops in the past so im gonna buy some ❤
Your hair is strong. 💪🏽 I would be bald. That’s why I could never be blond. If I wait a few more years I will be mostly gray so Mother Nature and Father Time will bleach my hair for me. You looks like an entirely different person blond. Ooh la la
Honestly, you could pull off red hair easily. Maybe it is the lighting or my computer but you look great w/the red. That red isn't ideal, I guess but you still look good. :)
Im Wayy late to this video, I know but I'm going through something so similar as you did. I have naturally dark hair and I had several boxes black dye on it. Instead of doing it myself. I've been going to a hair dressor. She's been gradually adding more highlights each time she goes in and doing a toner. I'm on my third set of highlights. I'm a lot lighter now. But like your third session, you still had that orange/ red tone to lifted through; I do as well. And i noticed even your fourth bleach, it still had it. So did it go away with a bleach bath? Cause instead of going full platinum blonde, I'm doing a dimensional platinum blonde. So i don't think she'll do the bleach bath with me. And I'm doing every 6 weeks instead of 2. >.< it's so hard being patient but maybe I'll be there by my 6 or seven set of highlights since you had to do 4 bleach sessions and 3 bleach baths?
I'm sure it would work! 🤗 The darkest parts will probably need more bleach sessions if your hair isn't all the same color. Maybe do your roots last if that's your natural hair color since roots always bleach the fastest. But you'll need to tone at the end if you don't want it to be yellow
U keep saying this is how it looks like 🤔 don't u mean what it looks like 😆 BTW I love the end result it looks good I am bleaching mine at min iv only done it once so I am still at that uneven orange brown stage😅☹️
The first 2 bleaches were 2 days in a row. I then waited 2 weeks and did another 2 bleaches back to back. I honestly would recommend waiting at least 2 weeks in between bleaches cause it's worth it (bleaching 2 days in a row really damages it)
everybody’s hair is difference but for me i bleached my hair twice over 2 days and it’s fine! use a mask afterwards and if you need to bleach again wait at least a couple days and maybe lower the volume to a 20
Hi! I didn't tone my hair in between bleaches because I needed to keep lightening it and I didn't want to deposit any color. I only toned at the end (part 4)
Wait.. There's obviously something you're not telling us. At the end of the video, your hair looks about 5 shades lighter than after the 4th bleaching you stated. So that leads me to believe that you must have bleached it again to get to that platinum blonde level.
I think you're referring to the last pic I showed!!! That's how I looked like at the end, in part 4! Sorry for the misunderstanding I just wanted to let everyone know that it does become platinum eventually and the thumbnail pic wasn't clickbait because I achieved platinum blonde at the end!
If you've never bleached hair, just informing you that's how long you leave it (max an hour), it says so on the box and even Brad Mondo says it. Maybe inform yourself before lashing out ☺️

Box dye
Or maybe it's not coated enough with bleach !
I did this after 8 years of black box dye too, and the same thing happened. So it is probably the years of overlapping dark dye (not sure if it being box dye actually makes it last longer though)
I had hair this long and decided to cut it to my chin before bleaching. I highly suggest this. Easier application and healthier hair.
Cut your hair after you bleach it not before
Your natural hair lifts so well
Damn, that box color is stubborn. Ur doing good tho. Wash ur hair as little as possible
It’s coming together 😍
get yourself some Majestic Pure Fractionated Coconut Oil coconut oil off amazon it cost about 18.99
I think this ginger hair suited u so much! It looked so beautiful! In my opinion it was much better than this blonde hair color:(
i totally agree

One thing I hate about bleachers is how quick ur roots grow. I have black hair and dark hair naturally. I feel like it’s just easier to buy a wig lol

Were u saturating enough? Thin sections
It was completely saturated (used thin sections) but the ends were dyed multiple times with black box dye and they were harder to lighten
