- Disclaimer: I am a professional hairdresser, I completely forgot to say because I talk about it so often on my channel, but just for anyone that’s new here, I am a professional and I’m just showing what works for me :) x
Welcome back to my channel, where today I'll be sharing with you how I transformed my hair from brown to blonde using the back to back slice highlighting technique. In this video, I'll be taking you through a detailed step-by-step process on how I highlighted my hair, the products I used, and why I chose L'Oreal Studio Blonde 8 Multi-Techniques to achieve a natural-looking blonde colour.
Products used:
Olaplex amzn.to/3UG0lZB amzn.to/3zZUZyQ
L'Oreal Studio Blonde 8 Multi-Techniques: amzn.to/3UEbvOx
20 Volume Developer: amzn.to/3MJHQSg
Foils: amzn.to/3myg5Bg
Tail Comb: amzn.to/41vRa00
Colour Bowl and Brush: amzn.to/3och76w
Step by Step Instructions:
To start, I parted my hair into three sections. The first parting was ear to ear, and the second was above the occipital bone.
Beginning with the first section at the bottom of my head, behind my ear, I took a small section of hair and placed it on a foil.
In a colour bowl, I mixed L'Oreal Studio Blonde 8 Multi-Techniques with 20 volume developer. This particular bleach is perfect for achieving multiple blonde shades, making it an ideal choice for back to back slice highlighting.
Using a tail comb, I applied the mixture to the small section of hair, making sure to coat it thoroughly from root to tip.
After applying the mixture, I placed the foil over the section of hair and folded it over, securing it in place.
I repeated this process, working my way back until the bottom section was complete.
Once the first section was finished developing, I removed the foils as and when that section was done, rather than waiting for all of them to finish developing.
I then repeated the same process on the next section and continued until all the hair in that section was in foil.
I left the mixture on until the colour lifted to the desired shade, checking it regularly.
After washing my hair with shampoo, I applied Olaplex part 2 to my hair, which helps to strengthen and protect the hair after bleaching.
Products You Will Need:
L'Oreal Studio Blonde 8 Multi-Techniques
20 Volume Developer
Foils
Tail Comb
Colour Bowl
Colour Brush
Olaplex Part 1 and Part 2
Conclusion:
Overall, using L'Oreal Studio Blonde 8 Multi-Techniques and the back to back slice highlighting technique allowed me to achieve a beautiful blonde transformation. Additionally, incorporating Olaplex part 1 and 2 helped to maintain the health and strength of my hair. This Is the best bleaching at home I've ever seen, it was done so perfectly, Brad Mondo has to see this.
He couldn’t do this good. He won’t watch 😂
I was thinking the same thing! Brad Mondo needs to see this!!
She is a hairstylist, I'd be disappointed if she didn't do really great :D
He’d definitely love the sectioning 👌🏻
He did see it 😊
You literally did a better job on your own head than any hairdresser I can find in my country 😭
You must live in Belgium, just like me. I can't find one either 😑
Lol I live in Florida in the USA & I can tell you most here don’t do as good as she did & she DID HER OWN HAIR. Extremely impressive. Her hair looks gorgeous. 💎💎💎👍🏼😊
@@cindypowell6358 yesss i live in California and she’s good and I’m also a licensed cosmetologist so she did good
@@racheltrue8 😊
@@talithagalle2908 no but I’m your neighbor Luxemburg 😂
This was fascinating, not only your understanding of the foil and slice placement on your head and how the bleached hair would fall, but also how calm you stayed during the process and managed to keep tabs on exactly when you did each part and which to take out! panicking and leaving different sections in for too long can all make self-bleaching so difficult, I only ever did my own blonde for 4 years after learning from RUclips, and after watching many "I bleached my hair at home!" This was the most complex but also the most well executed! It's one thing to have a plan and idea in your head, but you really stuck to it and it came out perfectly! I'm so so impressed with your control and again the timing of taking out and rinsing each section to make it all even!
I wrote this before I got to the part where you said you're a professional LOL But literally -everything- still stands! you stayed so calm, it's so easy to panic just because of how LONG it takes to do your own hair, and I have no idea how you had such a level of control over the back of your head and control over the bleach working in a mirror! I'm so so so impressed.
@@bubblekitteashe’s a hairdresser
@@bubblekittea could u do it urself? im debating wether doing it on my own or not cuz my hairdresser is refusing to do it on me cuz of my dark hair.
Wow this is the best at home bleaching video I have ever seen. A few minutes in I guessed that you must be a professional hairdresser because what you were doing looked SO satisfyingly good haha
Love the result! :)
Well done!! It looks so fresh from the salon, and it suits you so much. And, as someone who has tried multiple times to go blonde at home, and failed most times - with this tutorial I would be confident to try again! Absolutely gorgeous! :)
The whole time I waited for you to come out as a hairstylist 😂
The root stretch is a game changer so don’t worry about any harsh line inbetween. They’ll grow out softer anyways without being too visible 🎉
This is the best at home bleach job I ever saw!!! Massive round of applause 👏 ❤
IM LIVINGGGGG FOR THIS!! I’m a hairdresser too and while watching I was like there’s no way she doesn’t do hair like what a pro if she doesn’t and then you disclaimed at the end and I had an “Ah Ha!” moment 😂 great job! I’m sure you’re an amazing hairdresser and very impressive for a diy with the fullness of hair you have! Love the cut too!
Gorgeous! It really brightens your face. I just did a partial around my face the other day. Hadn’t done it in a year or so, it turned out really good with all my natural growth.
Awh thank you! And did you do it on yourself or go to a salon?
@@Rachelmckeown I did it myself, it was an absolute workout, i just toned the blonde but gonna do a 7/1 on the root for a bit of a smudge on my next wash lol x
brad mondo needs to see this masterpiece 😳😌
I love that you left the roots! That's what I want to do to my hair. I hate having the blonde all the way to the root thank you for the video!
Yeah me too and it grows out much more naturally like this x
@@Rachelmckeown exactly! No harsh lines :)
wow the result is really really stunning! this blonde suits you so well. and im really looking forward to the toner video, please please make that video
🥹🤍
I'm a hairdresser; also. You did a great job. The tone is beautiful and looks really good on you!
Oh my goodness hahaha everyone in the comments that doesn’t know you’re a hairdresser, I knewwwwww it 😊😊😊❤ amazing job , I have no excuse to not do my own hair in the back now , I always am a little scared and just do the front and top ❤ I’m a hairdresser
You look so gorgeous and fresh with this pearly color. Your natural level of course looks beautiful on you too.
your patience is gold, your hair is gold, and your accent is gold.
I was toying with the idea of bleaching my own hair as a new mom who’s breastfeeding I don’t have hours to sit in a salon to get this done but after watching how well you did it and how complex it is I’ve decided to wait and get it done when I can sometime rather than do it myself, not do as good of a job and then have to get it fixed anyway 😂 thanks for saving me the trouble! It came out so beautiful btw well done and excellent technique
Very very very professional and natural work!!!
This is such a beautiful tone of blond. Everyone wants the Targaryen look and it’s just on cute on some complexions.
Mama ur hair is long and thick omg! It turned out so gorge!!!
I can’t describe how cool this is!!! The best at home video!❤️❤️
this is so cool to see as an aspiring hairstylist who does their own hair at home :) it looks beautiful!!! you are very skilled
Your hair looks so amazing!! I want this exact result on my naturally black hair. I was going to bleach my hair at home and came on RUclips searching for a tutorial and found your video. Now I realize I need to go get it done professionally because I can’t do what you do 😂.
The color turned out beautifully! Well done.
As a lifetime blonde I have to say you are a blonde! It is your color in my opinion!!!!!! It brightens up your whole face! ❤
Amazing work. The whole video I was like she’s gotta be a hairdresser there’s no way she can be this good lol
I'm not a professional hairdresser, but I learned everything about hair on RUclips 😊
This is actually professional foiling like wow im impressed 🥰💖
Hands down she smashed it
Looks really good on you and it’s really well done 😊
Thank you!💕
Brad mondo would be proud! You look stunning girl. love it!!!😍😍😍😍
OMG!! You are sooooo talented!!! 😍 WOW! It looks gorgeous!! I thought to myself that you’re gonna be a famous hairdresser! 🥰
Awhh thank you so much!! ❤️
I like how blond hair looks on you ❤
Thanks x😊
Wow. I so wish i could have my hair cut and coloured by you. Your are a true professional!
thank you so much for this and you are so talented for doing this by your own I had to ask my dad to help and it turned out so good
I was going to say damn girl. You have to be a hairstylist. You did excellent. I loved before and after. ❤
I had to lie down after watching this 🤯. Kudos to you, it looks beautiful!!! Talk about dedication girl.
You are better than many people hair stylists I know 😢😢
Damn, you did fantastic! You can do my hair any day!
Did u add the opalex part one to ur bleach and developer mixture? And then just use part two once completely finished and washed out? On its own?
I literally can't BELIEVE you got it that light with just a 20 vol!!! I have dark brown hair that I regularly bleach to platinum and, even using a 40 vol developer, it still takes me atleast a couple bleaching sessions and a literal SHIT TON of bonding treatments to get it as light as I want it
I think it depends how much warmth you have in your hair naturally, my mums a natural blonde so I think my undertone is naturally quite ashy so it lifts really well!
@@Rachelmckeownyaaa my hair definitely pulls a lot of warmer tones...... Plus I always use a bonding add-in, such as Ion Absolute Perfection Step 1 or BondBar Recovery Booster, and whenever you use those products with your bleach mixture, they actually bring down your developer strength by about 10 levels..... Which means if I were to use a 20 volume developer, it'd basically work as a 10 volume developer after adding in those bond repair mix-ins. I usually use a 40 volume since that way I'm getting at least the strength of a 30 volume
Mama you look gorgeous this came out so beautiful!
Would you ever do this on someone else as I’ve asked salons and they say will be multiple appointments and is just way too expensive
Absolutely beautiful, I want to try this over this upcoming weekend! I noticed all of your products are showing up for the UK. Is there any way you could link the products for the US? I’ve never seen such a wonderful job done on hair. Thank you!
Beautiful blonde hair ❤
Wow what an exceptional job! Better than hair salons.
I feel so fed up with going and spending hundreds to thousands of dollars for so-called high end salons to damage the integrity of my hair. It has grown out 4 inches and I’m seeing hair growing back from places that I didn’t even remember I had! That is the result of them frying my hair off. You inspired me to try this. Fingers crossed and thank you.❤
Wow this is amazing you have a talent not many can do such amazing by them self 👏🏾
HairBuddha would be so proud of this video 😊
God bless you and your channel! I should have seen this video before I bleached my hair 😂
Your parting was fantastic!!!
Wow u don't need any professional to dye your hair.....amazing 😊
May I ask: are u a hairstylist?!....because it seemed like u are 😊
How much time did all this take?!...girl, u have patience 😅
Where is Brad Mondo?! U definitely need a compliment 😊
Thank you so much!! Yes I am a hairdresser and this to me about 4 hours so it took a long time! Xx
Wow! Many professionals are unable to do things as well as you did. 👏🏻👏🏻
brad would be so proud
A hairdresser that’s why. If it was just a regular person like myself, who doesn’t know anything about hair. lol. I would’ve burned my thin, damaged, dry hair off. lol.
But gorgeous hair. Beautiful outcome.
How do you know when to take out each section of foils?
One of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen! Thanks so much for the foiling tips! ❤❤
this is some seriously genius technique
Please STAY blonde, you look amazing. At first I didn't know you were a professional and just a self taught gal. The thing is, you didn't shove it down someone's throat and you're so lovely/nice. Again please stay blonde. You look STUNNING!!!!!!
Awh thank you soo much! I should’ve probably mentioned it at the beginning I just didn’t think about it haha x thanks again!!🥰
This is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing! What did you use as a toner?
Awesome video! Such a beautiful result. Can you please do a regrowth / touch up video too?
🤓 great job babe! I’m a professional loreal hairdresser as well, and was looking for the same video 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Thankyou for sharing
Amazing! You look fantastic! 😍
holyshit it's taking so fucking long respect
Thank you 😭😂x
You inspired me to go all blonde and of course I’ll be visiting my hairdresser, because I clearly can’t do this by myself😂
OMG! Its was AMAZING! Hugs from BRAZIL! ❤❤❤
wow! Beautiful transformation!!!
Turned out Gorgeous. Just make sure to give it a deep conditioning every once in a while 💖💅✨
I will never complain about foiling my 6 inch hair again😂 you did beautiful it’s hard doing ur own hair even as a hair stylist 🙈😂😂😂
Beautifully done! Question: when did you us the Olaplex 1?
How long did this take you? Looks incredible! ❤
Wow, you did a fantastic job! thanks for sharing your expertise. I can't wait to see a root smudge/drop video. I do this myself, but would love to see how others do it!
You did amazing. Well done good Job and thsnk you for posting this ❤❤❤
when i read she was a professional hairdresser everything made sense
it's a wonderful video, but I'm just wondering for how long. that bleach was on there, even after you removed the bottom folie. the bleach doesn't stop developing right? so that bleach had to be on there for at least 45 min?? with 20 developer, that's pretty harsh.. my hair would never
Your hair looks amazing! And in one time! wow.. also can you maybe do a video how to take care of bleached hair?Like hair care routine
Will you do a video on how you get your bleached hair to look so silky and healthy.
Thank you for the video, the whole works, and the results are amazing ! I've been foiling my awn hair for some time, do the back with a standing mirror which I change position depending what side I'm doing. Doing an almost platinum card looks scary though!
Amazing job! Questions, how long did you keep each section on before rinsing? What are the exact measurements for the toner? Did you do a root smudge or was this the way the roots came out be cause of the technique you used?
Wow you did such a good job!
Very nice job. It looks amazing!
Thank you very much!
Did u do the next video of toning your beautiful hair ???😍😍
I would love to know how many hours this took 🤯👏 great work
The best video i seen so far
Awh wow thanks!
What hair roller do you use for your layers? I can never seem to find a good hair roller for my hair and mine’s pretty similar to yours.
Hello, in what ratio did you mix Studio 8 and the developer? And how far do I have to put the mixture on my foils... right up to the scalp?
Question - I have thin hair that lightens super easily (I am naturally a darker blonde) I've always wondered if I could just comb a weak lightener throughout my whole hair (maybe leaving the ends out?) and leave it for 10 - 15 mins? My goal is always to just brighten around my roots.
Amazing technique ❤
Looks amazing!
Hi Rachel, i love your video. I am not a profesional hairdresser but I am doing my hair since ages. I never got away with a dialight toner. Did you ever do the videos on how to tone it with dialight ? Thx❤
My arms would have started to shake just sectioning. How is it her arms are still connected to her? Even if she takes mini breaks, wow!!
Hahahahaha!! This made me laugh😂I feel soo understood haha my arms were getting tired but I think I’m used to it from being a hairdresser for so long 😂
I did the exact same thing to my hair 1 month ago and it tourned out shockingly great. :D But it was hell of a work as I couldn't find anything on youtube... This video would have been a huge help. 😄
but which toner do you use after dyeing? ❤
AMAZING? did ya use any toner? or just left the bleach color?? tyvm and congrats! amazing work!!!!!
This is incredible!!!!!
What toners did you use and how did you use them ?? Application process
This video was so helpful!
I’m convinced I can do
This at home
She is so good at hair parting so she can Bleach her own hair😊😊
Hahaha, the tidier the sections, the neater the highlights :)
I think you done a great job and really suits you. 👍
