I died on level 51 against Innocence. As a witch, I almost vendored all evasion based gear as I have no need (or almost no need) for green sockets. It was probably an error. I am trying again and will see in time.
I am playing a zoomancer and even if it is hard as minions are crushed, it is so much fun!

I would still absolutely use a hybrid chest piece as a witch, I understand the socket pressure might force you to reconsider helmet gloves and boots.
I think as a witch, instead of oath of the maji, I would go Barkskin + grace and swap grace for determination vs bosses.
This will put more pressure on your gearing through resistance but will reward you handsomely with huge physical damage reduction

@@YanKuch I'll see in time. I had for defensive layers the following, to give you an idea:
- Vitality aura
- Clarity aura
- Determination aura
- Stone golem (for life regen)
- Holy relic (life regen)
- Mind over Matter
- Defiance banner
I also used many minions to deal DPS and skeletons as both dps and as a wall to shield myself against waves of projectiles.
I had above that all 3 resistances capped since Act 3, I had 1700 life and 300 ES and I died to a one shot attack from Innocence.
I had almost no evasion at all.

so, yes hybrid > no armor. but how about armor/evasion vs pure armor. i feel like the evasion stat doesnt help much until you have more of it. the counterargument would probably be that evasion helps against elemental hits from attacks, but resistances are a thing so :/. i typically focus on pure armor and run determination+purity of elements asap on pretty much every character (i play hardcore, otherwise i might consider haste), even if its witch/ranger etc that need stats for it. you can do evasion later around lv80ish when you have extra defensive layers to make it feel good.

@@fruz1378 the first few bits of armor give more physical damage reduction than the last bits, especially against big hits.

evasion has linear return but doesn't care about the size of the hit.
