The pedals and cockpit are a bit small in the 360, especially for our size. On the other hand, I bet the viper has a more comfortable ride for longer periods of driving. One thing to remember is that the 360 isn't focused on power as much as it is a beautifully refined piece of machinery - like an expensive e36 or e46. Great sound, race appearance, nimble on its feet and aerodynamic with just enough to get you around the track. Passions are usually expensive no matter how you cut it.

You are so right about the use of power tools. I hired a company to re do the head liner on my truck. They re-did the liner fine but when they re installed it someone obviously used a power drill because every hole in the plastic trim pieces was cracked. I was so f’n mad. If they simply used a hand Phillips screwdriver they’d have felt the proper tightening level and eased off. Maybe ten more minutes of work. Now I hate leaving my vehicle with anyone because you never know what they’re going to screw up and hide.

"What repair surprised you that it was actually super easy?" Thought replacing a few of the battery cells in a second gen Prius would be more involved. Turns out it wasn't hard at all. Took longer to do a voltage drop test on each cell than the actual disassemble and reinstall. Another 'fix' was actually a quick hack. Didn't want to remove the entire upper intake to replace one knock sensor on my '03 GMC Yukon 5.3 liter. So, cut the wire from the bad one and spliced it into the good one. Worked out great! The check engine light is no longer on and there has been no knocking or pinging.

Years ago I had an 1991 NSX and a friend brought over his 1996 Lotus Esprit. Short story; the Lotus "looked" like a James Bond car on the outside, but under its skin it was worse than a 1988 Ford Escort. The Acura was like it was built in another Universe compared to the Lotus. Ferarri isn't that bad, but I learned that "Exotic Cars" are really "Exotic Engines"; everything else is typically less sophisticated than you'd find in a family SUV. Some of the reason for this is the mechanical "feel" of driving is what people pay $250K for; technology that isolates them from that is forbidden in an exotic. The other reason is these boutique manufacturers simply don't have the resources to be "exotic" in everything; they'll put fuel pumps you'd find in a Kia in if it meets their needs. Keep up the good work Wiz!

Took the circuit board to a mobile phone and computer repair shop. Fitted new switches to the board and the buttons worked fine. New packs not available and a lot cheaper than a used switch pack that likely would end up with the same problems down the road.

My theory is - they have pretty average reliability but whenever something goes wrong the owners go nuts because it's not cheap to repair. And they learn to think of this car as a money pit because of how annoyin those regular expenses can be.

I believe 2009 was the last year Ferrari offered a real manual transmission on any of their cars. It was a sad day in the automotive world. And their powdercoated red intake manifolds are about the most beautiful piece of artwork I've ever seen. I'd take one off a junk Ferrari just to hang in my living room as art if I could.
I got to drive a 458 on the track last year at SpeedVegas. That was a bucket list checkoff no question. Yes, it did have the flappy paddles and I am a true manual guy (I have a 2019 Camaro SS 6 speed) but to be able to take a Ferrari up to 140 on a track is something every gearhead should do once in their life, flappy paddles or not.

IMO the evap hoses are breaking down because of the ethanol in the fuel. The rubber isn't the right type to resist the ethanol.

    Sir
Would it be possible for you to stick a camera on a tripod and on time lapse when Mrs Wizard isn’t available? You tease us with how easy it was to work on the 360, would have been great to see it.
UKSalavgeRebuilds do a fine job utilising time lapse and it’s highly watchable.
What you describe wouldn’t been great content.
    Good on ya Wizard

Good so see a guy that just wants to bring a Ferrari back to it's original condition. Leave crazy alone.

I love watching these videos, after driving a couple of Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, they are cool to admire, BUT just not worth the cost of ownership.

“Worth” is a subjective term. My Ferrari has been worth every penny to me.

One of our coffee pots had a lid gasket that oozed sticky goo like that. I asked a co-worker what he thought might be the cause. He asked "Where was it made?" I told him, "Italy." He replied, "Revenge."

Funny I was thinking exactly the same thing, I run nothing but ethanol free in everything except my little box on wheels SUV I drive daily, and if I owned a car like this I'd go out of my way to fill it with ethanol free gas!

The 360 was the first Ferrari I ever saw in the wild. My 16 year old self probably looking ridiculous, running across a park to snap a photo or two or maybe dozen of the bright red Ferrari.

Car Wizard, I have seen head light haze wiped away using Walmart Deet 40 mosquito spray. Then just wiped off with a clean rag. Seen on RUclips Shorts.

Not as amazing as Kia Rondo fuel pumps matching exactly a Ferrari.
      Is the DEET method real?

1999 and how many km’s does it have?? Already had to change out hoses and rebuild the steering rack?! 😲
Don’t get me wrong. I love Ferrari. I couldn’t bring myself to owning 1. The maintenance would be killer. Go broke trying to keep it on the road. I’ll stick to my rotary. 😉😎

I've never seen so many flexible pipes in a car. Is it small wonder they burst into flames. I thought the short high pressure fuel lines on my Alfa V6 were a worry at times. They have been known to cause fires when they go porous.

That is a very beautiful car. I love the fact that you can get the rack out so easily. Just try that on a Ford Escape!
