The first time I heard Lola was at a bar called Group Therapy in Columbia, SC in 1986. People starting stomping on tables and swinging from the rafters when they heard the opening riff. The University of South Carolina has to be one of the most conservative public school student bases around but went raucous when Lola turned out to be a man. They loved this song and made me love it.

I saw them twice. In '82 and again in '89. About the 5th song in during the '82 show they started Destroyer: "Met a girl called Lola and I took her back to my place Feeling guilty, feeling scared, hidden cameras everywhere Stop!......" then the song stopped and the stage went completely dark for what felt like 30 seconds. The lights came back on and the band WAS GONE!!!!!!!! The lights went out again and then went back on for a final time as the band were all back in their places and without missing a beat - they resumed the song right where it left off. It's was a predictive song and has now become so factual it's scary!
Cross-dressing has been around for centuries - and homo/bisexuality has been around forever.
Soo underated, underrated, Who and Beatles are favs,The Kinks are right up there
Not underrated but rather underplayed.
Love this group and this song!!! Music back then was the best ever 👍
Thanks for your love and support 👋
So far ahead of the times showed no fear with song great respect !
Brilliant song & fantastic group!*!!🥰🎼🎶🎤🎸🥁💞❤️💖
Great, happy memories, at College & of all the wonderful songs from those times!*!! 🥰🎶🌻🌈💕
Dave’s background vocals always spot on.
Epic live performance, the crowd truly loves this one !! 🎶🎶🎶
I Heard this song so many times growing up in the 80s, and now I have the video as a part of my collection along with so many others back in the day. It's a beautiful thing.
Great song and performance FTW!
Yeah!
One of the greatest live albums ever. I was fortunate to have seen them live countless times. Never a let down except for one time in Conn. where the sounds system kept breaking down and they cut it short. God save the Kinks!!
I saw them twice. In '82 and again in '89. About the 5th song in during the '82 show they started Destroyer:
"Met a girl called Lola and I took her back to my place
Feeling guilty, feeling scared, hidden cameras everywhere
Stop!......"
then the song stopped and the stage went completely dark for what felt like 30 seconds. The lights came back on and the band WAS GONE!!!!!!!!
The lights went out again and then went back on for a final time as the band were all back in their places and without missing a beat - they resumed the song right where it left off.
One of the coolest moments of any show I've ever seen.
