I cannot believe virtually no one is reviewing the QN85D. It is such a great sleeper TV- It even surpasses the QN90D In some of the most crucial fundamental aspects of picture quality.
@chidieberekenneth3295 I bought both the QN90D and QN85D, planning to use the 90D in the main room and the 85D in the bedroom. Surprisingly, we both ended up preferring the 85D. Itd color production is noticeably better (after both have basic calibration) , and it has a more natural, cinematic image quality-almost like a plasma TV. A big reason for this is because the 85D uses a very high native contrast ratio panel paired with a modest number of local dimming zones. Samsung has a bad habit of using ridiculously low native contrast ratio panels (the QN90D is no exception) and relying completely on local dimming. The QN85D is actually the one and only TV in the past six years they've made since the Q8FN that switched back to their old method of using a very high native contrast ratio panel paired with a modest amount of local dimming zones. You actually end up with much better color production, better shadow detail and more overall stable black level performance because the algorithm is extremely solid. I've actually always felt that a modest amount of dimming zones is generally better than extremely high zone count because they are less taxing on the processor and allow for a better algorithm. Especially when it comes to preserving shadow detail. The 90D, despite having slightly better black levels, suffers from slightly more blooming at times. This is because its much higher zone count tries to maintain small highlights, while the 85D dims highlights to prevent blooming- the algorithms use a different approach. We also tried a Hisense U8N before deciding on the Samsungs. Both Samsungs were far better, especially in dark rooms, where the Hisense struggled with constantly fluctuating letterbox bars. The QN85D is hands down the sleeper TV of 2024. It’s baffling that it’s getting no attention. I know TVs, and the 85D is something special. Honestly I'd recommend it to people over the QN90D unless you need higher peak brightness capabilities... In my opinion both are brighter than you'll ever actually need.

@MBFly25 Local dimming algorithm is more important than zone count and you are way off about it having 12 times more, that is ridiculously inaccurate. Are you sure you want to make this comparison? Okay, remember, you asked: The QN85C has a pathetic native contrast ratio of 900:1 and a total contrast ratio of 85,000:1 using all of those great dimming zones you mentioned. The QN85D has a native contrast ratio of 5,500:1 and a total contrast ratio of 137,000:1, even with far fewer dimming zones. This is a staggering difference and one of the most important aspects of picture quality, if not the most important. I want you to go to Rtings, compare TVs, verify all of this, and also pay very close attention to the blooming test video comparison. The QN85C has substantially more blooming than the QN85D, despite having far more zones. This is because the QN85D uses a far better panel with a much better native contrast ratio, a much better overall contrast ratio, and a significantly better algorithm. The QN85D also has better color gamut coverage. So, better black levels by miles, better color production, almost twice the contrast ratio... remind me again how the QN85C is better? The QN85D Is a gigantic leap forward from the QN85C and one of the best mini LEDs on the planet. There are probably less than four LED based panels on the planet that can match or surpass its contrast ratio.
@ no matter what you say it is less LEDs and Zones than last year and yes, theoretically it has a better contrast ratio than last year, but I don’t believe only numbers when you have them side-by-side and when you compare the same picture on both TVs at the same time the old QN85C has a better looking picture because it feels brighter and the colors also feel stronger compared to this year’s model. I tested both TVs be side-by-side. And yes, more important is the local dimming algorithm, you’re absolute right, but Samsung is not the best TV company in this segment. Yes they have improved their algorithm, compared to last year’s model. You can see that and I think that’s why they reduced the LEDs and zones to make the TV cheaper but for me that feels like a downgrade especially when you compared it to Sony Tvs and they’re absolutely amazing local dimming algorithm. But Samsung got it definitely better this year compared to LG‘s LEDs and their bad algorithm .
fomo, love your content but there is one blind spot you have.... you only rate and discuss TV performance in a dark room. I'll bet 50% if not more of your viewers watch TV in the daytime, especially weekends, where the light control is poor. Reflection handling is critical, and you literally never talk about it... as though the entire world watches in a dark room. Sony Bravia 7 -- 4th worst rellection handling in the HISTORY of rtings,.... essentially a mirror. it is a dark room only tv, and you don't mention this. Panasonic W95 is also really poor at reflection handling. And again not a word from you about that. TCL qm7 is terrible for bright rooms for the same reason., dark scenes are essentially unwatchable in the day in a bright room... really bad reflection handling. Please expand your reviews by viewing a TV in a bright room and report about the reflection handing.
It's extremely frustrating that you didn't turn on brightness preferred on the B7. Brightness preferred on the Sony especially in gaming is what is the best. It makes the full scene brighter and more shadow detail while still retaining the contrast. Now tons of people saw this and thing "hmm not good enough" because you failed at your job. You need to learn each TV and all that is needed.
But you understand brightness preferred screws up tone mapping resulting in clipped highlights - it’s Sony’s job to address this in Gradation preferred which represents “accuracy” while Brightness preferred is a subjective choice to be brighter than accurate. Why not just play in FPS mode? Unless I make a point of this, would Sony care to fix it? Nope
38:53 Wtf? Usually Sony is way brighter than Samsungs on fullscreen. But maybe it's because it is not flagship LED from Sony. So what it tells me is that Samsung's flagship is not at the flagship level of Sony. 🤣 Just put Bravia 9 there to compare with QN90D/95D. :|
So some of the nature scenes I would give to the S95D, but I am blown away truely by the Bravia 7, if next years model is even better, I think I might need to upgrade from an OLED, or at-least try it for a little while and compare.

Nope
Say no disrespect, is there a reason you need to wear gloves? Great videos 👍
The Panasonic's electricity consumption is scary - La consommation électrique du Panasonic fait peur
Bravia 7 is insaneee.
Fomo is on fire today
They look almost the same. I would buy the cheapest one
I guess I’m not only subscriber who likes the soap opera effect. I tried my best to get it real close to it on my 65” Hisense U8N 😅
Wow 😮
Panasonic W95 is the best!
The SONY looks amazing.
Bravia 7 looks better than everything here in the majority of the scenes to me, S95D doesn’t seem like it’s worth the price
So some of the nature scenes I would give to the S95D, but I am blown away truely by the Bravia 7, if next years model is even better, I think I might need to upgrade from an OLED, or at-least try it for a little while and compare.
You are dreaming lol
But most content is not rated at this peak brightness..

your videos at 1080p look like 360p compared to other channels . get a better camera man
Livestream compression in low light - no other channel dares do that, perfect ISO exposure doesn’t exist for TV comparisons of shadow details in near black without noise
@stopthefomo partially but you can at least record at 4k60hz we can judge motion better in 60fps even in RUclips
Best oled g4
I just love the brightness on the sammys
What tv u got?
S95d and qn90d clearly looked the best.the Bravia 9 looked noticbly washed out on the majority of scenes.
The best joke of the day 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤦♂️👎🤢🤮
The QN 90 D doesn’t even come close to the Bravia 9
Not even close
In the Test is the Bravia 7 not the Bravia 9 😂🤦♂️
How dare you mention Value Electronics and ABT in the same breath....
Shame! Shame!
