With what I’ve seen, I would prefer Bravia 8, although, Pana was throwing some punches in certain scenes that look better to me. Thanks for the comparison. I find even after I got my TV, I still like checking these reviews. Cheers Brian!
Many thanks Brian for comparing the two processing kings. I will definitely be now going for the Z85a and hope to buy early 2025. The Sony has more "pop", depth of image, visible contrast, but to my eyes the Z85a is much more natural, easy on the eyes, just very pleasant to look at for many hours. It reminds me of when - in the 90s - I had a Sony Trinitron tube tv. It too had wonderful, saturated colors, strong contract and "pop". That line was highly regarded. But the image was too strong for me, it felt to me that it came straight at you, and sometimes gave me mild headaches after longer viewing. I exchanged it for a Loewe tube tv (modified Philips) which had very natural, beautiful colors and was much gentler on my eyes. When flat panels arrived Loewe was not as good, but Panasonic took that crown and I have a Pana 37"LCD for about 10-12 years now (but like to go 55"). The Z85a has that wonderful picture that is so natural and easy to look at, just so beautiful. I'm in awe.
Hello Brian I've been following your channel from Germany for a few months now and I want to give you a huge shout out for your effort and expertise. Thanks to your comparisons, I decided to buy the 85" X90L after much deliberation. I could hardly be more satisfied. The local dimming and, what's more, the responsiveness make gaming incredibly enjoyable. Thank you for your polite, friendly and charming way of introducing us to TVs. Much respect to U 🤜🤛
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment, my friend. I'm so glad you are loving your new TV. Thank you for making my day and for being part of the community and family.
I’m surprised how bright the Z85A looked. A lot of reviews claimed it was significantly dimmer than the Bravia 8, but that obviously isn’t the case. Can’t wait to see what both brands have in store for 2025 😁
I feel like the Sony Bravia 8 would have been much more successful if they came out with the 83" and cheap like 3000. They would have probably sold like hotcakes and in the big picture been much more profitable than their bs higher prices.
Right! If they had an 83" under 3k I would've bought that instead of the LGB4 at 83". I still love my TV don't get me wrong, but Sony seems to think they're the only one that offers quality in their products.
It’s nice to see a channel give Panasonic a fair shake of the dice. These are both nice TVs. Within 5 years mini LEDs are going to the lead the way I feel. Cheers.
Brian, what do you think of Panasonic offering people the option of buying their TV's with a Firestick or the Google option? Would it help them sell more TV's since a lot of people don't like Firestick?
Both will be very good once calibrated to the D65 white point. The Bravia 8 just needs to be brighter to the right extent. I'm a fan of these two brands, even though I hate their shortcomings.
As I mentioned in the comments on Brian’s previous video I had just bought a new oled and the choice was between the Sony Bravia 8 and the Panasonic Z85A. I had previously had a Panasonic plasma, which in it’s time was great. So which oled did I go for? It was the Sony and I was not sure I made the right decision. The Panasonic definitely has more natural true to life colours, and I have to say I am not madly impressed with upscaling of SDR 480p on the Sony, probably spoilt by the Panasonic plasma there. However after some adjusting of the picture certainly in HDR the Sony is great for most sports channels and films.and it has a remote you can charge up, and I also purchased a Sony soundbar which integrates with the central sound channel of the TV, and finally it has Google TV so that was the choice. But either I think are great quality oleds. Thanks for the video Brian.
Man, your videos are great. I have a 55" s90d and an lg a1 65". Im thinking if i trade the a1 for an 85" u8n. So, i have no intentions to buy most of the tv in the videos you review, but your reviews are so great that i watch them all. Congratulations for your work. It takes a lot of doubts of people like me. Ive watched all the u8n videos. Id like to see video game on it. But i know you dont do that. But grrat work, man.
Thanks for the content and comparison Brian! I was more impressed with the color and brightness and image on the Panasonic Z85! Very impressive. Even in game mode with only 2 modes I t seemed to outshine the Bravia! Thanks again :)
Panasonic has the edge for me here, it is striking while remaining clear and natural. My old Panasonic plasma from 2008 to this day remains my favourite of all the TVs I've had.

Hey Brian, great video. I'm 99% sure I'm getting the Bravia 8 in a couple months. I had a question about one thing: you said you give the slight edge to the Panasonic when it comes to reflection handling and I'm just curious why that is.
Yes is very nice. I would get Hue lights to modernise it a bit because those TVs are state of the art minimal design in a retro studio so some lights different colors is needed. I really like the new space though. @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
There are times were the sony wins but the panasonic has more yellow in the green grass which i feel is better gradation along side being warmer that's gives it ( qd-oled look ) .
Great video as always Brian! Does the Pana have the individual color HSL settings for adjustment and any high peak brightness setting for SDR? Also I noticed some stutter/skipping on YT on the Bravia 8 especially in HDR walking videos (may be an issue with the Google TV RUclips app) and also sometimes the audio/video would go out of sync with over the air broadcast shows. Anything like these issues that you noted on the Panasonic during your time with it?
HI Brian, what do you think of the new 2024 QM8 98-inch tv? I'm wanting a big tv with a good picture. Has it improved a lot from last year? I currently have a Sony 85 X90L I purchased last year. Recommended by you and Fomo.
The are more natural on the panasonic, but it all depends on the preset. You're right sometimes the Sony is the better, but too many presets are blueish on the whites.a😎re natural
Bravia 8 a little brighter, image more to the blue end, a bit more color. Z85A sharper and more detail but slightly less bright and slightly less color, image also slightly warmer

Yes my retailer does audio and tv for a very long time and I have seen Panasonic as well as Samsung and others in real. As well as been given this information
The Panasonic has Software Problems too. Huge flickering With the ps5 in Menus (more than Sony and LG) Disconnection from the WiFi Sometimes you have a huge White Flicker in movies when the Scene Change from very dark to brighter. All that for a Premium pricetag

Defective modules and completely having to factory reset a tv vs turn on / off also are completely different from WiFi disconnection a few times that can happen everywhere and even be your modem. I value that indeed. I said that it isn’t mentioned and all you do is saying but others too that’s not even really relevant here it should tell you something as for that reason they don’t even showcase Sony in store
