Also, I think Sony does have rendering issues, like in Panasonic JZ2000 vs Sony A90J video on the cave scene from Game of Thrones, I see that Jon Snow's right ear comes up as brighter on Sony A90J in a dark cave that is only lit up with torches compared to Panasonic JZ2000 which looks more accurate, and on Sony A90J a very top side of wall close to ceiling level is illuminated too much and on Panasonic JZ2000 it is darker. And it's same scenario with statues, they are lit up more on Sony A90J. So I don't think in a dark cave that's lit up with torches can illuminate objects that much especially when they are far, I have also tried to calculate the range between statues and torches and figure out how much they would be illuminated by fire from that range, simulating how fire works in real life and Panasonic JZ2000 felt more accurate to me and Panasonic with JZ2000 wins that processing imo. Or rendering should I say? Ofc it's through a RUclips video so things might be different, like Sony A90J would have proper brightness on objects and illumination while Panasonic JZ2000 would be way darker than it looks in video. And don't forget that Panasonic takes accuracy really seriously. They make their TVs get calibrated by a calibrator that works in Hollywood so it says something. Hi brian hope you fine. Thanks to your guidance I got the bravia 9 85 inches .After 4 qn900series DSE problems this has none. Processor with brightness and rarely loosing detail is what sony has achieved. love it . brian dont you feel bravia 9 vs qn900d will make a powerhouse contest. Thank you so very much, Shawn! I'm so truly happy that you have finally found a TV that is defect free, and that makes you happy. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
When I look at a Sony tv sometimes I am blown away at how skin tones look on the tvs. I know it sounds crazy, but Sony reproduction of skin colors is beautiful. Sony tvs just have a pleasing image that other tvs struggle to capture. Sony LEDs aren't the inkiest when it comes to black levels, and they are not the brightest of the brightest when it comes to highlights, but they strike this balance in between to produce an image with depth and clarity.
Bravia 9's blacks are super inky black. It's also one of the brightest TVs on the market when it comes to highlights while still retaining colour in those super bright specular highlights, unlike other TVs.
I don't know about a blowout. The Samsung does seem to have much better shadow detail. I think the Sony is the better TV from what I have seen, but haven't seen either in person and seeing TVs play video on RUclips looks NOTHING like they do in real life.
@ In person I was always blown away by the QN90D , but I’ve come to find that the other TVs do the colors better, I think it’s because they don’t put them next to eachother in the store. But I was like a moth to the flame with the QN90D for some time.
Samsung does blow out detail. Samsung's extra brightness on the leaves erased the patterns on them. It made a dark scene look bright. Where two separate flames were close together, the smaller was hidden by the brightened light from the bigger one. That is bad performance.
@phillipschuman4307 You can't tell from a RUclips video. That happened because the Samsung was so bright and, the camera couldn't properly capture it at its setting.
4:27 That is like a budget LCD on the left vs a high end OLED on the right. Yes I know it's not an OLED, what I am saying is the contrast difference is astounding. So much if a person saw this and not knowing. They would think that. 6:07 I mean wow, what a difference. 9:23 this is why Vivid on a Sony is almost useful if you want to go all out. Look at the contrast and sharpness detail in the leaves. The Samsung is just one over brightened single shade of green with no detail at all. No the brightness is not to a minimum on the B9 in Vivid. It's bright AF. It's just the Samsung just dropped all sense of trying to retain any accuracy and detail and just blooms out everything.
Brian, thank you very much for your excellent review. I bought a qn95d this summer because the bravia 9 was unavailable. Bravia 9 definitely wins! But I still get a lot of pleasure from watching movies on qn95d.
The QN95D is awesome and definitely has some advantages over the Bravia 9. It can also be toned down to look even better. Enjoy it! Thank you for watching
The Bravia 9 makes the QN95D look like a $1000 Hisense budget TV. I mean it's shocking how much better it is. The depth, contrast, colors, accuracy. It's as close to an OLED a MiniLED has ever gotten and it even beats OLED in some areas. Now, of course you could say I am Biased, I own the 85" B9. But come on just look at this video.
I just used this video for a sound test. I learned if I want surround sound from my Vizio sound bar from the U8N on all video streaming services you cannot turn on Dolby Digital or DD Plus. You can only turn on PCM or Auto for full surround sound. You sort of get it with DD but it lowers sound volume and won't play the background music from RUclips videos to the foreground in the surround speakers. It doesn't get the signal to be used. SO DD and DDP turned on ruins the total Dolby Atmos experience by a lot. I have 2 more sets of 3 Way speakers to set up on my walls. So more sound testing from your reviews is coming soon. I can't wait to hear how these speakers will sound being next to 2 way surround speakers. The U8N is a major learning curve going with nearly every menu setting. It's hard. OK the lightning strike at the end was cool. I heard it from all sides. I relocated 2 Vizio Surround speakers so I have surround speakers behind me. I have speakers on all 4 walls now. I can't wait to get to a full 10 speaker set up soon from my current 8.
Fan of Samsung high end qleds but the Sony has it beat for depth and detail. The Samsung just washes out with brightness. I'm sure you would be happy with it but the Bravia 9 is a step up
I usually root for samsung, but this time, Sony was really good. I felt Sony was proving the overall best, too. I usually prefer more natural experience, and I felt Sony was good at it. Especially the fire scene in the night, I felt Sony's local dimming was far better.🤩🤩🤩 I never knew Sony TVs were so much powerful...😮😮😮 I really loved the review😍 Good luck with the upcoming videos...😃
As always excellent comparison Brian. In the future can you include daytime viewing comparison- especially sports like NFL. 90% of our viewing is daytime or with lights on and rarely are we in a dark/blacked out room. I think seeing daytime comparisons especially with sports would be greatly beneficial to your viewers.
I spend a lot of time taking photos with an iPhone 15 pro max (OLED) and a Nikon z6, and then upload to the iPhone and adjust with the iOS photos app. I notice if I enhance sometimes, the sky blue color looks fake. That’s what I see on almost every sky scene in this demo for the QN95, and the Sony looks natural. I’m viewing this video on a Panasonic Viera plasma, one of the later generations which have excellent contrast and color. Sorry but this plasma and my eye says the Sony wins. I also would like to see when Dolby Vision 4000 nit content is compared to similar content with Samsung’s HDR+.
Factor in all the features you get with the Sony, DTSx, DV & hdr10, build quality, sony pictures etc.. Sony wins for HT use. Just do a qn90d or S90D if you’re a gamer. The 85” qn95D is $3500. $500 more for Bravia 9. 🎉
Both are great, but I like the pleasant colours of the Samsung TV. Since I bought a Qled Samsung TV I don't think I can go back to ordinary TVs. Didn't buy an OLED because its weak in bright conditions and its burn in suspect, but waiting for the Micro-LED to be cost effective for my next purchase.
Hi Brian been awhile. Excellent detail comparison! Was considering switching my A90j 83’’ to the ‘’85 Bravia 9 but not quite ready yet to go back to mini-leds tvs. Perhaps next year. Anyway as always great content. Julio
Do it I find mini leds look better than oled because of the bright punchy image, they get almost as dark as oled with no blooming. I have a a80j oled in my dark bedroom and I enjoy watching my friends Samsung tv much better and it’s one of those low level Samsung tv, not a high end mini led, my Sony a80j is just so dim and dark it’s hardly watchable.
Hi Brian, thank you for the great video's, keep up the good works. I got my 85 inch QN95D for 2586 euros in the Netherlands Black Friday deal vs (85 inch Bravia 9 for 3749 euros). Price difference 1163, is the Bravia 9 that much better? Personally i don't think so. The tv will be delivered next week. Greetings from the Netherlands.
No way! They are very close, and the QN95D definitely has its advantages. The QN95D can also be toned down to look more accurate in all presets. I simply chose to let it run free. Enjoy the QN95D my friend
How is the B9 for sports? I am torn between the B9 or G4 in a bright room. I also watch a lot of older shows so upscaling is important. I love the detail on the B9 so I’m torn.
Have Happy and great Thanksgiving Brian. During your next live stream I might get it on it. Also since I have the U8N you can ask me questions on it. It's a TV with a real learning curve on all the menu settings that my Vizio never had. Also the dumbest thing Hisense does with their TV's is they don't use 1 simple Serial Number. So the one on the back label is the one that has to be used for the Warranty registration on the about TV menu there is a different serial number. Like how hard it is to use one and only serial number? I forgot to cut it off from the box label. I learned something about Hisense that you probably didn't know by your review when you kept it on playing with the remote for different content. Question should Energy Labels on new TV's be a topic of conversation? I know every Home appliance manufacturer wants to be a sustainable energy Company but how much is too much on that issue when it comes down to one dumb defualt TV setting? On the Quick Start Instruction booklet it isn't listed on it nor is there a main menu setting. It's an important topic on Energy Guide Gold Sticker.
To be perfectly honest I only watch in the accurate picture modes. Sometimes very old programs I currently have the Bravia 8 and I am very happy with it. In terms of those two for me I would go with the Samsung. It’s probably cheaper and is better for gaming. Both tvs are stunning in the most accurate modes and there isn’t much difference.
Ever thought about running some lower quality content to see how the TVs handle banding, black crush, near black chrominance overshoot? The dark scene in game of thrones is a good test for this.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Ah. Guess I was confused by the comment "I will be getting the 75" for an actual review" since the 55' one seemed to just be a roll thru presets with no comparison to other TVs ... all good.
Even on the bigger TV's you do it right. B the Installer videos are slightly annoying. I watch some of them but to me his channel is sort of useless only because is videos are all geared for his niche home theater clients. When you go to Best Buy the expensive kiosk displays aren't set up to compare brands against each other. Seeing the A95L, the Bravia 9 in person together you get why all of Sony TV's are the Best of Best even on the A90, 7 & 8 models.
The Bravia 9 plays in a completely different league. The Z9F only has 104 dimming zones in 75 inches. The Bravia 9 with a revised Masterdrive 1902. Contrast, brightness, color range, color volume, blooming... All significantly increased in some cases on the Bravia 9.

Geek Squad delivered my 77” A95L last weekend. My first impression, it’s very bright, up scaling is outstanding, picture quality is excellent, and build quality can’t be matched. Yes it’s very expensive, but you only live once! This TV will be in my living room for a long time! It’s just beautiful 🤩
Yes, the QN90D beats the U8N, in my opinion, which you can see here ruclips.net/video/N-3hQS5CJn0/видео.htmlsi=-kRo6l3wyJcEKmhB the QN95D is better than that.

See, when the Samsung can look brighter for example in Movie mode vs Cinema on the B9. First IMO, the B9 looks more accurate, more contrast (by far). But that said, if I wanted more "brightness", I would just use standard picture mode instead. The difference is that I would still have more detail and accuracy and contrast vs the Samsung in any of it's modes. That is what makes the Sony winner in every scenario. Cinema mode on Sony is the 'dimmest' mode, except perhaps Professional. But again what makes the Sony the winner is that it always retains detail, accuracy and contrast. It just dials it up in the other preset modes. The Samsung is only accurate with detail in Filmmaker mode. After that everything is just brightness and detail is lost. So in conclusion if you just want a little more brightness. Let's say almost as bright as Samsung is in Movie mode. You just turn on Standard on the Sony and still get now a brighter image but retaining the contrast and detail. Just because they have similar names in preset. Doesn't mean they are the competing presets, because they are so wildly different. Only the Filmmaker and Professional mode can really be compared as apples vs apples. IMO, the QN95D is only ever good in Filmmaker mode. That is when it has some detail and still some brightness. All other modes are useless. But the Bravia 9 overall wins there too because of accuracy.
Thank you, Brian, for your excellent comparisons. Especially on large size tvs. Your let the tvs do the talking, not the commentator is fantastic ( sorry Fomo, you take 50% of the screen on your comparisons, and you give us your conclusions instead of letting us analyze the tvs and make up our mind). In this comparison, I like the Bravia 9 slightly better, but would buy an LG G4 83" and not either of these Mini leda. On a mini led tv the 98" TCL QM851G is my choice, size matters.
My absolute pleasure, my friend . We all have different ways of doing our content. We are all friends as well. I tend to say hi in the intro and then show only the TV'S the rest of the time. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
I would like to see a demo of the newer SHARP AQUOS tv's. LED and OLED. Let us know when you do . Thanks. Yes, I have an AQUOS tv $2000.00 LCD and 15 years old.
I think both TVs depend on your viewing preferences. I prefer the Samsung cause of Flexibility, I love tuning my TV perfectly & giving it that extra punch Samsung allows.
I think the brighter scenes the Sony does a better job as Samsung often looks washed out in comparison. But in darker scenes, the samsung shows more detail while the Sony is often too dark.
Like I told Fomo on all of his demographics on his viewers It's the same for you. I'm like one of 5 on one hand only that only I care about the smaller size. Going from a 32" to a 43" to a 50" now a 55". I can't get any bigger in my room. 😅 This with the background music at least I'm hearing all of my surround speakers work. There are 4 that work but I decided last week from Caleb's video my RCA Y adapter cables have a fail rate. I have 2 Vizio but different size subs and I also did a speaker swap and I'm still not having speakers not working to produce the sounds that the rate I should hear them bounce off the fronts.
You could’ve added Hisense & TCL, for the best mini LCD TVs. The Chinese company has taken over from Samsung to produce better LCD TVs. The competition for Sony is not Samsung but the Chinese companies.
B9. I'm a Sony guy, it's been five years, so it's time to upgrade. I'm going to give my old one to my wife. The B9 is going to a bright room, so Oled won't work well in those conditions.
To simplify its brightness over color richness. The Bravia 9 despite is richness I think many times details get lost in a darker frame. QN95D gets my vote in Filmmaker Mode as best overall picture with balance of color and brightness.
Not necessarily as the Bravai 9 will limit its brightness to retain detail and gradients. That said the Samsung seems to be brighter in general . Thank you for watching!
24:00 It's not "superior" in gaming. Having 4 HDMI 2.1 doesn't make it better, lol. Anyone can solve that with a switch and get 5 HDMI 2.1 ports. 144Hz also doesn't make it superior. It makes it better in Hz, but not by much. "superior" means better at everything. Not one or two specific things. The B9 is far better in looks. The B9 is FAR more accurate in game mode and way better in contrast and black level. So what is 'superior' about the QN95D. That is not even true at all and it's you basing it on those two criteria. That is like having a bad TN computer monitor at 500Hz and saying it's better than a 144Hz QD OLED, ha ha. Please refrain from making definitive statements like that. It's subjective and highly dependent on what a person values in their gaming. Now TVs that truly are more 'superior' are the OLEDs, as in the high end ones. I would agree an S95D would be superior. But the QN95D is garbage compared to the B9 again. 144Hz vs 120Hz is negligible. Accuracy, depth, contrast etc matters.
It's superior because of a larger feature set . This isn't debatable. It's has 1440p support . Ultra wide. 4K 144Hz. Triple the gaming presets. It also has motion plus, which will add frames without ficker and input lag . It can also look exactly like the Sony. Also calling a TV like the QN95D garbage shows your comments to be biased by default.
Samsung absolutely getting destroyed and then some. I've known it to be an inaccurate-image tv brand since HDR came out but latest flagship seems to be the worse I've seen with every frame being blown out to smitherines. Go home Samsung, you're drunk.
There are way too many scenes where the B9 is crushing details cause it's too dark.....that's sum aggressive ABL or tone mapping. Here we go again with Sony fan boys riding the Sony brand name wagon. No LCD/LED TV should cost the price of Premium OLEDs....nope

Processor with brightness and rarely loosing detail is what sony has achieved. love it . brian dont you feel bravia 9 vs qn900d will make a powerhouse contest. If you can make a video on them . qn900d was very good too. Once again thanks for such great videos. Pleasure to be your friend. God bless you and all.
Thank you so very much, Shawn! I'm so truly happy that you have finally found a TV that is defect free, and that makes you happy. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
Le bravia 9 est bien supérieur, contraste, couleur , blanc pur , noir profond , c'est magique cette TV est formidable
Appreciate your thoughtfulness and care for your viewers, Brian. For me Sony all the way. Love their products and accuracy.
Thank you so much, my friend. I truly appreciate you being here. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment.
The Sony is on another level if you ask me.
It’s a blow out, an absolute blow out, Sony wins.
The Samsung looks great if it's by itself but putting it next to the Sony it looks washed out on most scenes.
The stars in the night sky are pretty obvious in the Sony while they are absent in the washout night sky in the Samsung. Sony for the win! 💪
Great review. Almost sold on the 85" bravia 9 for my sunny room. Waiting for a reflection comparison like you did on the qn90d.

🔥🔥🔥 video bro! Great content as always
@BooredAtWork Thank you, brother! Hope to see you soon!
Especially the fire scene in the night, I felt Sony's local dimming was far better.🤩🤩🤩
I never knew Sony TVs were so much powerful...😮😮😮
I really loved the review😍
Good luck with the upcoming videos...😃

As always excellent comparison Brian. In the future can you include daytime viewing comparison- especially sports like NFL. 90% of our viewing is daytime or with lights on and rarely are we in a dark/blacked out room. I think seeing daytime comparisons especially with sports would be greatly beneficial to your viewers.
No question, Sony all day every day!
It is good that you show which image mode you are choosing because some might think that you want to benefit one of the 2 and this is not the case 🙌

I love the look of the Bravia 9🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
G4 vs Bravia 9---------But here, Sony is more accurate
I had to buy mine from over seas lol qn95d I still prefer my B9 for all sources 😅
I would've got the 85" B9, but it just wouldn't fit it on the wall area in my living room. I got the 75" B9 instead.
Awesome! I hope you are loving it. Thank you for watching
You never see a washed out image on the Sony like you do on the Samsung. Thanks Brian!

Julio!! Always great to see you!
I haven't seen the 75 or 85 inches panasonic w95a review anywhere. Are they planning to release it next year? Thanks

Does it hold a candle to sony oled X95L
To be perfectly honest I only watch in the accurate picture modes. Sometimes very old programs I currently have the Bravia 8 and I am very happy with it. In terms of those two for me I would go with the Samsung. It’s probably cheaper and is better for gaming. Both tvs are stunning in the most accurate modes and there isn’t much difference.
Ever thought about running some lower quality content to see how the TVs handle banding, black crush, near black chrominance overshoot?
The dark scene in game of thrones is a good test for this.
I do run all content. I won't show it due to copyright on youtube. It's simply a risk i won't take. Thank you for watching

Please honest review for bravia 7 vs x90L
The Bravia 7 is a good deal better.
The X90L is full array vs the Bravia 7 being mini led. The Bravia 7 has better image quality overall.
Hi Brian, I’m seriously considering the Bravia 9 but wondering if the 9 has significantly improved over my 5yr old Sony XBR 75” Z9F?
The Bravia 9 plays in a completely different league. The Z9F only has 104 dimming zones in 75 inches. The Bravia 9 with a revised Masterdrive 1902. Contrast, brightness, color range, color volume, blooming... All significantly increased in some cases on the Bravia 9.
Thank you for just trying to show us how they look ootb ; professional beats filmmaker to my eyes as the sony looked more like qd-oled while the samsung looked more like wrgb oled .

I think the Sony destroys the Samsung in most scenes. It never clips. The Samsung is losing detail in most scenes.
Does any of this matter if you are just watching ota sports and ota network tv? Sony has an ATSC 3.0 tuner.

Bravia 9 looks waaaaay more Realistic ... Is it about settings ?
I think the brighter scenes the Sony does a better job as Samsung often looks washed out in comparison. But in darker scenes, the samsung shows more detail while the Sony is often too dark.

Like I told Fomo on all of his demographics on his viewers It's the same for you. I'm like one of 5 on one hand only that only I care about the smaller size. Going from a 32" to a 43" to a 50" now a 55". I can't get any bigger in my room. 😅
This with the background music at least I'm hearing all of my surround speakers work.
I can see the difference 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
B9. I'm a Sony guy, it's been five years, so it's time to upgrade. I'm going to give my old one to my wife. The B9 is going to a bright room, so Oled won't work well in those conditions.
Sounds like a great plan!
Be there or be Square 😂 Bring it on
Japanese flagship always on top🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
A Samsung TV should look like Night City if you know what I mean 😂
To simplify its brightness over color richness. The Bravia 9 despite is richness I think many times details get lost in a darker frame. QN95D gets my vote in Filmmaker Mode as best overall picture with balance of color and brightness.
Excellent comment and anylsis
So I assumed Samsung has higher brightness in nit than Sony?
Not necessarily as the Bravai 9 will limit its brightness to retain detail and gradients. That said the Samsung seems to be brighter in general . Thank you for watching!
The pic, sony by far. The google os is the issue. Samsung os is way more reliable and fast. Sony is slow and kinda flaky. Have 3 of each.
