I have been using the 65 S95D for last 1 month, and it has been exceptional. The anti-glare is something I cannot live without now. Earlier I used to be able to see myself in the TV during daytime, and dark scenes looked bad during peak sunlight. But in this TV it is more than visible during the day and no distractions visible on screen. When there is less ambient light or no light you can barely tell it has an anti-glare coating, looks like any good OLED.

You’ll love the tv, just the Q9FN was a big upgrade (2018) and next was S95B in 2022 so you will for sure get a good tv.
I give you one advice I recommend you follow and fuck streamers or reviewers on this, when your tv looks and play great don’t update anymore, if last thing you miss is faster UI it’s not worth it.
People updating Samsung especially majority goes in this trap, even the experts, so if all is good don’t update and be sure by reading how others experience is of if you know anyone. Play hard and enjoy 🤘🏼
Edit; also had your tv the first year it was out, first Samsung to get more black rather than the gray tones, also another good tv but they messed with firmwares over time as usual 🤣
Think it was around release of this I started get more cautious with updates, but it goes with all brands as messing firmwares is a criminal business they all do except Panasonic

Both have their advantages which you obviously have seen working at the store . I never understood the criticism of the anti-glare display. In most bright lighting conditions, glossy OLEDs become virtually unwatchable and the S95D pretty much solves that entirely. And for the times when viewed in the dark, the anti-glare becomes a non issue since there is no external light to diffuse.
Plus, as a fan of watching films in theaters, I prefer the matte presentation over a glossy screen since it’s closer to what you get from a projector. Glossy screens seem more suited to product demos and sports viewing anyways.

I'm using a 65S95b, I saw an S95D in the store, and after tinkering with the settings for an hour, I watched that classic Rabbit and Black cat video and opened some videos from the USB.
I think matte does not mean Good or Bad, but the choice should be made according to the level of reflection in the place where it will be used, depending on the situation of the house.
When you look at the Oled screen, it is as if colors are floating in water. This is the simplest way to look at it. This is not the case with the S95D matte panel. Oled TV is okay, but the feeling of extra liveliness that comes with brightness has been taken back a notch or two with the matte panel. In fact, world reviews also refer to the matte panel. He got points with two classes who didn't look at it very often and said it was very nice.
In my personal opinion, if you ask S95D or S90D, I would prefer the glossy S90D model or the S95C Model.
We all know that Sony supplies QD OLED panels from Samsung. If Sony uses Matte panels, I would say Samsung is on the right track with its new OLED series, but I would not buy MAT again.
The S95D with its matte panel didn't excite me as much as the S95C and S95B

no it's not, when light falls from the room to a antiglare screen, the light gets spreaded over the full screen and and brightens it up. so you're near black level encrases. A glare screen reflects the light bundled back. The bad thing there is, you can look at yourself on the screen, but the rest of the screen remains dark. In a dark room is no significant difference between both.

If you want to use your influence, tell them that FANS DEMAND DOLBY VISION.
Samsung is simply a no go for me until they support the premiere HDR format in the marketplace.

    • @centillion7
      @centillion7 2 месяца назад

Only if the difference between Dolby Vision and HDR10+ were like night and day in performance could fans justifiably “DEMAND DOLBY VISION." Samsung could unleash Dolby Vision tomorrow if they wanted to. Their restraint speaks volumes about the true value proposition of Dolby Vision.
I've owned TVs that proudly boasted Dolby Vision, but when I switched to HDR10+? Not a single tear was shed. In fact, HDR10+ has consistently blown me away, serving up a visual banquet that leaves me wondering why I ever bought into the Dolby Vision hype.
Don't let the HDR marketing machine pickpocket your wallet just for home theater bliss! These formats are more similar than the industry wants you to realize. This whole debacle reeks of the old Blu-ray vs HD DVD showdown - a battle of marketing FOMO rather than genuine technological superiority. It's like choosing between a $300 clock and a $30 one. Sure, the expensive one might have gold-plated hands, but does it really help you tell time any better?
Here's a jaw-dropper for you: Even LG, once Dolby Vision's staunchest ally, has started excluding it from their lower-tier TVs. Why? To save you, the savvy consumer, from unnecessary overhyped costs. That's right - the very company that championed Dolby Vision is now admitting it's not essential for every viewer.
Think about it: If Dolby Vision were truly the holy grail of HDR, we'd see a viewer uprising - we'd all be storming the gates of TV manufacturers, pitchforks and remotes in hand, demanding "DOLBY VISION OR DEATH!" But we're not, are we? Proving that our eyes can just be as satisfied with the alternatives.

We bought the S95D 77” for $2000 off and ended up returning it. The reason? The anti-reflective coating causes blooming around bright highlights against a dark background, making it look like a mini-LED TV rather than an OLED with perfect contrast and inky blacks. This was while watching in a dark room too.
Also the motion processing is bad. We watched the Champion’s League final and it was nowhere near as clear as our 4 year old LG GX. This issue persisted no matter how much I tinkered with the motion settings.
We’re gonna get the LG G4 now instead.

      @rayenwoomed5323 3 месяца назад

@@LittlePlant888 Happy to help anyone that’s looking for a new TV by sharing my experience!
To be fair, the blooming issue was mostly relegated to movie credits and subtitles. If you can look past that small issue, then the S95D is still a great TV, especially if you can get it on sale. The vividness of the colours is still something Samsung excels at.
It’s just that the screen coating kind of “flattens” the image and gets rid of the distinct 3D look that OLEDs are known for. That’s why my family is switching to the LG G4. Even though its colours aren’t as vivid as the Samsung, the image has a lot more depth and really pops out of the screen, thanks to the glossy coating. Plus the motion processing is great for watching sports.
But if you’re using it for gaming: I wouldn’t worry too much about the S95D. Unless you’re playing on a PC, in which case you’re limited to 120HZ, as the 144HZ mode doesn’t work properly with Samsungs one-connect box. But that’s something they might fix with an update. The LG G4 on the other hand is a fantastic gaming TV that does full 4k at 144Hz no problem.
I’d ultimately recommend buying whichever one you get the best deal on if you’re mainly gaming on it.

    • @jnvivian

There are two parts for this.
For second and third generation WOLED, LG Display gives those panels black surface treatments to absorb as much unwanted light from things like inbound light or light that the OLEDS generated but went the wrong way as possible. For second generation WOLED, LG Display uses a “Master Black” surface treatment. For third generation WOLED (which has MLA), LG Display uses a Vantablack surface treatment.
For QD-OLED, the quantum dots are out in front, so any inbound light that has high enough energy photons will excite the quantum dots, causing them to get excited and generate photons that go somewhere. The antiglare coating helps here by scattering inbound light so that some of it is directed away from the quantum dots, so colors are less distorted by wrongly-excited quantum dots releasing unwanted photons. This is less of a problem in LCD TVs since the quantum dot enhancement film that converts blue light from the backlight unit is behind the LCD cell which blocks a lot of inbound light. I also currently do not know of any black treatments to absorb unwanted light in QD-OLED panels, but I could be wrong about this.

I have since found an error in my previous post. Samsung Display did add an anti-reflective layer to its second generation QD-OLED, but tests show that while it helps compared to first generation QD-OLED, second generation QD-OLEDs still reflect more than WOLEDs and some LCDs.

Hi? Can you address in the s90d vs s95d comparison the rather huge difference in montion clarity? Like really, really huge. Just look at any comparison video and find a scene that is not slow motion or still and pause it. Tech with kg has a great comparison with only 2 tvs. Anyways it's such a shocking difference. I believe you will be as floored as I was. One is very clear the other is very, very blurry!! How has this gone unnoticed? Even small movements like the brush moving slowly over the green sandy stuff has ridiculous differences. Blurry vs seeing every last grain. Anyways, this is everything from sports to john wick and well anything with non slow motion movement so its a great selling point. Why would samsung not advertise a 5/10 vs a 9/10 motion clariry difference did they regret their choice? Serriously confused consumer here having watch every last video and live stream with many sports scene analyses and not a single mention. They only checked the little football moving insanely fast and far from the camera and missed blurry players. How the new processors handle specific circumstances does not necessarily represent generalities like test patterns vs real content.

Great review Caleb. Samsung may not be able to escape the outcome of the S95D's success, its a lose lose situation for them in the coming years unless they make 2 different OLED SKUs with identical specs for picture quality. I think some people will love the OLED glare free design so much that it would be a mistake for Samsung to cut it, but on the other hand you have to understand its not going to be ideal for all rooms and those people deserve a flagship on the same level with a glossy coating. So whats the solution? Maybe they have to make them the same specs but make the choice to give one the one connect box + infinity design while the other doesn't but as long they have equal picture quality and the same panel people would be happy with that outcome.

Tv now after moving country, too much fuzzz about which models are actually QD Oled as well I see some that ordered around world got the 14xx firmware on the S90/95C so better start from fresh with firmwares and cut net when I see it comes too its peak, but the One Connect box is what worries most as it got around 1 faults with dropouts out of 10 tvs roughly, it looks great and early firmware is a big plus.
If I knew I could get the S90D with QD Oled it be a safer buy as well full bandwidth which ps5 pro will take advantage of.
It will be more then bright enough, got old videos with S95B showing with full daylight and windows beside that is zero issues so this will be superb, ;)
