I have the 75 inch and got it delivered four days ago. I’ve only left my house one time in that span. This TV is that good. Absolutely mind blowing.
Awesome!!!
KonaLife how much heat does the screen put off? My Samsung q80 gets pretty hot after being on for several hours. It was like a heater
@@brokenwrench404 Very minimal heat signature, but I can only speak to the 75 inch. Definitely not like a heater, or anything.
This could be the game changer we all have been waiting for! God bless you and God bless FOMO
@@KonaLife awesome. Thanks for the reply. Have you gamed on it?
Robert Zohn posted this link on Facebook and said "This is a must see RUclips presentation of Sony's new 85" BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED TV"
@@jogo8261After seeing Value Electronics's TV Shootout I bought my 65" A95L from Best Buy. I needed help getting it set-up with my audio system to use the TV's speakers as my center channel and to get everything connected for the best audio and picture quality. Best Buy was no help. So I called Value Electronics and Robert and his wife helped me at no charge. And this was after I told them I purchased the A95L at Best Buy after seeing FOMO's video stream of his TV Shootout. I am now a customer for life and love their better prices and very professional service and support with the best technical advice you can get. They are very kind and very nice to do business with.
Best tv I have ever seen.
@@saphireg8094 seriously! I watched a A95L vs B9 video yesterday and the B9 looked better in almost every scene. The dark scenes it stood out due to the highlights and details that were lost on the A95L
Thank you so much for watching !!
@@brokenwrench404 Where did you find that video? I have tried to find that matchup but have been unsuccessful. Thankyou
This looks insanely good. I can't wait for mine to be delivered in a couple days!
But is it good enough? The X95L looked amazing and was best lcd tv ever. Sony has been in a weird place with LCD TVs over the past 10 years. It would move forward a couple steps and then move back a few steps mostly in brightness. I think Sony wanted they could’ve done this 10 years ago. Remember there will always be blooming with LCD so will never be perfect. That is zero boom blooming with LCD. I think we’re just extremely nitpicking at this point.
@@michael-4k4000 judging by what I've seen the local dimming is still better with this TV compared to X95L. And it is much, much brighter. I prefer LED HDR for watching movies and TV anyways. I have an LG OLED dedicated to gaming, and don't care to watch TV and movies on that. HDR content is far superior on LED.
You are well aware that you are sitting staring at your own TV and saying it looks insanely good LOL
@@niolund8673 no, I do not have it yet. These videos helped me decide my purchase.
That's great that you and Robert took time to just chill and watch some of your favorite movies. That's what it's all about! I always liked Sony LCDs but something had been missing lately. The backlight getting an overhaul this year has helped tremendously.
OLED had over 8.3 million dimming zones or pixels, how many does the Bravia 9 have? Have all OLED, but I actually love lcd, just don’t like blooming.
@@michael-4k4000 The Bravia 9 has anywhere from 1500-2800 zones depending on model size. The increase in zones is only part of the story though. It's really the 22 bit ic driver and sony's processing that makes them special
I like the Sony strategy, that they have one "Star" or "Hero" product every year. I think it is save to say that they improved the backlight system, improved power efficiency and made an impressive product. I love the long videos by the way 🙂
Thank you as always John! Much love to you!
Well we don’t know if they made a ‘star’ product, as it hasn’t been compared with its key rivals, not OLED but other high end LCD TVs. How much of an improvement against last year’s Sony X95L, is it a small upgrade but triple the price 😮
Great video, Brian!!! Definitely getting a Bravia 9 this year!!! This video is a HUGE help!
It's always great to see you, my friend
Great vid Brian. Thanks to you, Robert and Wendy. This is my choice for my tropical location. Your presentation and overnight sacrifices are appreciated.
The pleasure is mine, my friend ! Thank you for being here
Amazing video! Thank you!

if I had a dedicated cinema room this would be my choice of TV
Thanks Brian
Could certainly be swayed by Mini-LED for watching movie & TV content.
Another awesome video Brian! 🏆🏆
Brian, thanks for clarifying the debate about the masters series designation and quality implications.
My pleasure my friend
As a gamer, the XR clear is what edges mini led for me compared to OLED. The extra brightness counter acts the black frames and the look and feel of the screen just gives that feeling when growing up gaming on CRT.
There's OLED TVs with XR clear tho
Hey Bri, another tremendous video sir 👏 Great intro, fantastic narration and superb footage. Dont think you realise how your videos impact (in a great way) our days. Just bloody brilliant 😁♥️

Excellent video Brian some very impressive backlight control,I have two Oleds, Sony a80j And 48a9 , recently bought 55x90L for gaming so impressed at how good the black levels are on this full array, and it's all down to Sony backlight control and XR processor, when my A80j needs replacing it's definitely Gona be a bravia 7 I'm done with Oled prefer the brighter highlights than Oleds contrast
Hello Brian. Thank you for taking the time to Review these Sony TV's as I am having to be patient before purchasing my replacement TV.
I am having to wait up to 8 months to make this decision. The Bravia 9 is my first choice.
My absolute pleasure Mark!
You won’t regret it. The Bravia 9 is an absolute beast. I have the 75 inch and am completely blown away by the picture quality. It’s incredible.
Another cracking video my friend best in the business. Sony tvs are just on fire whether it's b9 or A95l
Micro contrast on this TV looks very good for a LED TV
Another fantastic display here Brian, splendid work 👌👌👌
Thank you as always, my friend!
Look at the quality of this TV at 22 minutes. WOW!
THX Brain! I got so choose between the A80L in 83 inches and the Bravia 9 in 85 inches. Much love for the long viedeos which helped me make my decision for an TV. I watched all of them. Big THX that we gamers have our section too:-) Keep on going! Greetings from Germany.
Which one did you choose and why?

Wow congrats man 😎💯
Great Review!!!
T.y. for this informative video. I completely agree with you about the LED vs OLED competition where one tech tries to beat the other tech's strong points i.e. brightness vs blacks. Each tech will never be able to out do the other's strong points. When purchasing a new TV the consumer "should" decide on what tech better fits their viewing conditions. Btw the 4K 85"B9 looked great on my 8K 85" Z9K ! 😉😁
I’m jealous Brian you got the monsters
Excellent the TV looks so good. Was especially impressive in the blacked out dark room with those very high contrast images. No blooming but very bright. The reality it that the B9 would have higher contrast ratio than an OLED in those images. Because low black level and higher brightness, aka "Ratio".
It's only in some scenes with micro-contrast and in dark room there would be really any difference and even then not in a lot of content. Almost down to a preference level.
I always prefer to see detail and zero crushing and prefer brighter HDR. And SDR.
I just find it amazing how far MiniLED and LCD has come. It was barely 2-3 years ago an LCD FALD or MiniLED would show blooming and less contrast and less bright.
For sure wouldn’t miss my 2017 OLED.
The z9d is still Sonys pinnacle achievement for led. It’s a legendary tv❤
Um, both the x95j and x95k blows the z9d out of the water
Beautiful. When you went into the dark room, I wished you had shown just a bit more viewing angle so we could see it. I wouldn't need the awesome angle like my A80J OLED has but I tried an X90L at one time and the angle was terrible after you went no more than 10-15 degrees on either side. Since I view from the kitchen which is open concept into the great room, I need at least a decent 45 degree or a bit less angle. I know LED aren't known for that but wondering if this Bravia 9 improved on it at all. Thanks for the great work Brian.
I’ve had the 75 inch for four days now. The angles are fine.
Should be better than the X90L. As far as I know the X90L doesn't have the wide-viewing angle which helps increase that degree. So you could likely go 30degrees before it would start to be worse. It is always best head-on, but it's a matter of acceptable with angles. I think it does rather well.
Definitely a better choice at this category , what i like about it personally is the color temperature- i don't see the blue of woled or the pink tint of qd-oled ,,, hopefully next year they bring it to 55" with even better tech ; it's gonna be a battle between Sony qd-oled and mini-led .
Man this this is an absolute unit
Fantastic TV, Sony is to be congratulated
best TV..thanks ❤
Mega intro as usual, very good review, i hope you doing great Bro
Thank you so very much Majid!
A perfect video. You hit all the marks. I have never given mini a 2nd thought. I’m a total OLED snob. But this does hit! It definitely brings heat. That water glass splashing with a black background was shocking. That looked pure black to me. I’d love to see that image beside an OLED. I just hope the audio is as good as always.
This is the greatest Mini LED 📺 of all time!! Best TV of 2024. Nuff said!!
Wasn't expecting it but I love the dramatic entry 😅
Awesome video, Brian! Appreciate all the content you post on RUclips, so very helpful! Considering mini LED, do you believe it is worth upgrading to the Bravia 9 from an x95L point of view? The x95L is currently priced €3900 and the Bravia 9 is currently €5000, both in 85 inch sizes. Is it worth to pay more for the Bravia 9?
I'm so glad you enjoyed . The X95L is excellent and very good all around however it lacks that wow factor and HDR impact. The Bravia 9 is worth the price difference. Keep in mind the X95L has had several price drops and the 85 Bravia 9 just came out.
Great video. I need to stick with Mini LEDs because of my use case scenario. This Bravia 9 is just too expensive though. Think im gonna go with the QN95D as Samsung have improved their processing and the contrast and blacks of the QN95D have been getting great reviews. Then in a few years i'll spend QN95D type money again and get something better than the Bravia 9. But if i bought a Bravia 9 id be keeping it for a while because of the price.
Hey Brian, thank you for the review. If you had to choose and money wasn’t the issue, would you buy this tv over the Sony Z9K ? Thanks in advance
I'm tuning in right now, I can't wait to hear what you say🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤ let's #go 💪 🌋 🙌
just wow
My OLED is making this bravia 9 video look next level 😂😂
but it took an OLED to see it!
Is there a big difference in the image between 75 and 85?
Thank you for the video
Im sold! Will we see the bravia 9 85 inch at mwave??
As i said before, moving on from my a90j
Brian,
Can you tell the difference in panel quality between the 85" and 65", since the former is supposed to use the premium AUO panel?
I saw that comment on your video and got curious. I can't imagine it's a big difference.
Thank you!!
How does the B9 compare to Samsung 8k 900D? Apart from price which tv has the best picture quality. Is it close or is there a clear winner?
Thank you, Brian And 🎉Robert !!!
Our absolute pleasure
Still love your background music. As usual great presentation 👍
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed
Thanks for the 85" video. Hard to find a Bravia 9 in the area (NC) and your review helps seal the deal for me. Trying to decide whether to buy local or through Sony's site. Any thoughts on that decision? thx
Hi MO, buy it from the store in this video , check the description for their #. Value Electronics. Tell them you saw them here. Free shipping and you'll save the tax being outside New York and they will also give an additional discount mentioning my channel.
I have had a Panasonic oled for about 7 years. Early on it goes to the some burn in. For this reason I am thinking of getting a Bravia 9 75".
It was down to 65" A95L or 75" Bravia 9 (price was about the same).
Oppo 4k player I have does 1600 nits max so I 4k nits tv may not take full advantage. Also I'm not sure how bright is a "bright room". It'll be in a north facing room. Some day watching a bit of night.
It looks like the B9 will be about as good as my oled but no burn in. And way better than my old Sony side lit led that bloomed everywhere.
Not to mention a 10" bigger screen for less.
At least that's my thoughts at the moment. Appreciate some feedback. Thanks.
The video is excellent! You say in the video that you think the Bravia 9 has just as good local dimming as the x95L. Does the Bravia 9 have better local dimming or are they really identical? Thank you
I'd say it's actually better considering it's peak brightness. I'm glad you enjoyed and thank you for watching
It should be compared against X95L to see improvements in backlighting technology. If it’s a tiny improvement, then it’s not worth its enormous price😮
@@amitavraja3385 Exactly, that interests me too, I'm very excited. Unfortunately he didn't say anything about it.
Wish there was a store location in Toronto. I'd definitely buy my audio and video from you. It looks like a great staff who cares about there consumers
There are two closely spaced rows of what appear to be reflections of bright lights (3 each?) appearing in the middle of the screen, right of center. Were these artifacts generated by your camera, or by lights inside the store, or from outside? Are these an example of how the Bravia 9 handles reflections?
It's the camera my friend
Thanks Brian for lovely video . 😊Have seen Sony release its sets very late in most parts like for example mine it comes in October. Is it because the limited quantity of sets they make unlike Samsung and LG which are available everywhere ? Shouldn't they be more pro active .?
I would love to buy it but will have to wait for 5 months . Qn900d is available. That's what I meant.
You want to give each model its “Zohn” time. I get it! 😂
We have the 65 " it definitely is a good tv but not worth the ticket price compared to my Samsung i paid half the price for ! But damn the sound in this tv is definitely something very special.
I’m going for an oled because I think it’s the closest to a crt tv.
I’m interested in tv’s that give me the best of both worlds. Both new content and old content alike.
Brian you mentioned about the reflections, how were they in person? I'm thinking an 85" for the main living room, which is has some windows without blinds. I'm coming from Pannys VT60 Plasma, so I'm sure it'll be better than that, but still a bit concerned.
He said there will be some rainbow 🌈 smear. Prob wont be as severe as x93L tho. U9N with ADS-PRO full glossy tv might do better . Cuz I am aimming for ADS-PRO panel right now.
An other commercial for Value Electronics!! The image looks outstanding on my OLED screen 😂
Yeah ok!
It looks like it does a great job of preventing blooming that washes out areas of the screen in these demos, but I'm curious how well it handles white subtitles? Is it just a tiny bit of haloing around the subtitles? It seemed to handle that LG logo in the corner well, but I'm wondering how that looked in person as opposed to a video. Also, the gaming examples didn't include anything with HUDs against dark backgrounds, since you mention the blooming control is worse in game mode, did you try any titles that might have examples of this? When I played Witcher III on a Sony LED, the HUD frequently introduced severe blooming when exploring caves, etc in HDR mode
LG logo was blooming at one point and Brian mentioned that he can see blooming there so unfortunately most likely subtitles will bloom as well.
@@whitecrowuk575 Right, I'm just wondering about the extent of the blooming with subtitles, especially with anything that's letterboxed
Would the x95l have less blooming because it's not as bright as the B9?
I would be very interested in that too. I would be happy if he would answer it @brianstechtherapy
I see sharp reflections of something in the video. No thanks, I'll go with the S95D. I only wish it came in an 85" version.
Hello, how are you? Can I ask a question? I want to buy a TV. What do you recommend? LG G4 or Sony 9. Thank you.
Thanks for another great review. Curious would you chose a 85"Sony X93 at $3500 over a 75" Bravia 9 for $3999? Basically both are great tvs with some pluses and minuses. Would you sacrifice size for a better picture even though it appears the 93 has better reflection and more 2.1 HDMI for a game changing picture? Is it that much of a change? The 85" Bravia 9 is just out of price range. Thanks for any input.
B9 is King!
Wait until next Monday and the 85” B9 might be closer to your price range.
@@SpideyAdamwhat’s next Monday?
@@luissoto5544 it will be more affordable starting on Monday. In the USA at least I’m not sure where you’re located.
would you recommend this for a bright room? brightness says yes, but viewing angles and reflection say no?
I have a fairly bright room that I have the 75 inch in. It does well in a bright room, but like Brian said you will get some reflections from the light. If you have the ability to darken your viewing room then will make this all moot. I will say that the reflections on the screen are minimized incredibly by the Sony Anti-screen reflection tech (I’m forgetting the name). Overall, it’s not a dealbreaker by any stretch and a minor annoyance at most
To me it’s interesting. Cause VA panel does terrible job with reflections spreading them across the screen. So even though it can be brighter in handful of screens reflections will fare worse than comparable oled. In other words you need to control light. The only case where extra brightness applies is when watching SDR content and cable tv/sports. For that case higher brightness would work.
I like to know the contrast ratio of this and compare it against incredibly high contrast of Hisense U8N, doubt if B9 has similar figure as U8N has OLED like black😮
Hey B can this TV make you wanna switch from infinite contrast and deep black levels that OLED gives you?
Actually, yes! It's that good brother
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Wow if you.feel that way about this TV it must be that good. Miniled has come a long way in recent years. Thanks for the FYI it's much appreciated.
How's the blooming on this compared to the X95L? Does the X95L have more of a glossy screen?
The blooming is present and much worse than one would have guessed. Unfortunately, you will not hear any of these reviewers cover this aspect honestly.

My only beef with Sony this year is they should’ve made the Sony Bravia 8 OLED a QD OLED and just made it a step down from the A95L which would be more of a competitor to the S90D

Because the customer looks for ready availability.
Thank you so very much, Shawn! Very kind and generous of you, my friend! Sony has done this since last year. They let CES go by and let the other manufacturers battle it out for attention while they build the tension and anticipation for what is on the way. By the time they release the competition, it seems old in comparison. However it does backfire as well. People who need to buy can't wait. Also TV'S like the A95L come out so late that they actually get lapped by the next year's best.

Sony has two OLEDs in there Professional Monitor series that Hollywood colorists and the like use to master in post-production. The rest are LCD or miniLED. The flagship is miniLED. This should be the most telling of all the points that can be made about the argument between OLED and miniLED. They're beautiful. They're accurate. They will give you an incredible experience. No doubt. But what's best in the eyes of the maker? It's currently miniLED. This is how I choose a display. In this case, Sony's goal for the B9 was to make a consumer tv out of their flagship professional monitor. They chose miniLED and not OLED to accomplish that.
It's the same argument you can make for audio in home theater. Revel Salon2's are basically regarded as the pinnacle of home audio until you have the cash for Wilson Audio (or a bunch of other different brands at that price point). They're beautiful. Powerful. Sound incredible. But what do the pros use? JBL M2 (and a few other JBL models), Genelec, HEDD, Adam Audio, Focal Trio series, etc... So, if I had to choose between a pair of speakers from any high end manufacturer or one of the previously mentioned "pro" manufacturers, what would I choose? Well, the choice as to which specific speaker I'd choose is based on the size of my room and the listening distance, but I'd choose a system comprised from one of the previously mentioned manufacturers. Why? This is simply because I want my content presented exactly as the director intended. What speakers were responsible for mastering that content? Pro speakers.
All of that said, we do have ways to calibrate both tvs and speakers to mimic the equipment that Pro's use. In TV world, that's done simply by properly calibrating the tv and ensuring that zero detail is lost post-calibration. In audio world, we have DSP as a tool to use that if the speakers you have can handle the SPL (and careful patience), you can basically clone the frequency response of your favorite pro loudspeaker. It's not a perfect solution because of a myriad of reasons but it's a huge step forward for those without the budget (me).
Good luck buying a new one each year as Sony will change its master tv lol
@@whitecrowuk575 then….. I’ll…. Just… but the new hotness when I decide to buy a new tv?? I don’t understand the quip you’re trying to make.
you making a link because this year Sony didn’t refresh oled that means mini led is better. Which is a wrong assumption. It didn’t even receive a Master series status. It’s this year’s flagship that’s all. Professional LCD monitors are dual LCDs that this tv can’t match. None can. Now oled can’t either yet. But it’s a matter of time. What Apple did with dual stacking panels - expensive as it might be it is possible to create oled panel reaching 3/4k nits based on current tech. And we know there are improvements in tech like rumored to come as soon as next year - phosphorus, which will boost brightness significantly.
Hello Brian.
