I’m blessed to have an aunt that does these. She’s eager to do my hair. She wants to do it for free too. She’s a licensed stylist. My grandmother got hers done a few years back and her hair is flourishing 😂. I’m so exited.
Luckyyyyy😫😩
How much does she charge can I get 50% off using your family discount pleas ?
"Sisterlocks are not cheap...they are not cheap...THEY ARE NOT CHEAP!" Lol. Love it!😂 So true!
You think I should've said it one for time for the seats in the back? LOL
ABSOLUTELYYYYYYYY!!!😂
How much do they cost? What are the ongoing costs?
@@tankeeyab $100 a hour and can take anywhere from 10-23 hours
I love your hair. I can't imagine how long it takes to maintain.... you really have patience because you have a lot of hair.... whew . Great video, very informative.
Thank you Velvet
This was soooooooo helpful!! I'm seriously considering getting sisterlocks and am doing all the research I can on them, and even found an R certified locktician in my area from the sisterlock website. I just came to the realization at the age of 44 that I'm tired of dealing with braids, synthetic or human hair, trying to decide to what to do with my natural hair on a daily basis. (I've been natural for over 5 years) I'm all about ease and convenience, and while I understand sisterlocks are a commitment and a lifestyle change and a hit to the wallet, I'm ready for it.
haha! "...my inner fat girl, Bertha..."
Bertha is real! lol
Thank you soooooo much for this video !!!! I'm new to your channel and I'm seriously considering Sisterlocks. I had traditional locks for 6 1/2 years only to comb them out. I have worn my hair natural since the comb out (2 years) but now..... I'm ready for another journey . This video answered all my questions and I had my consultation today.
Hi Shannon!! I'm glad this video was so helpful to you! If you have any other questions feel free to let me know ;-)
Shannon Brown I'm on the same journey
Me too!
You are correct! I love my hair full! I think once I do it I'll wear wig until it gets full 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Zepha Praise me too
So excited your video has helped me to decide to get sisterlocks I had a lot of questions and you answered all of them. Thank you for helping me go forward with my journey.
+Sherri Small you're welcome Sherri!!
Great tips! Thanks so much! I've done my research and I have selected my Sisterlock consultant. My consultation is this month. I'm ready! I know I will never have locks like yours because my hair is fine and on the thin side but I'm still looking forward to the journey. Needless to say your locks are gorgeous! Thanks & Bless
I am getting my sisterlocks installed for my birthday in December 2015! I just went to my consultation and returned with 8 "test" locks in my hair! Omg I am in love with the locs already. I can't wait to not have to deal with knots and tangles of my kinky hair. I truly believe a bound style like locks is really beneficial to kinky, 4c hair.
That's awesome!!! How's it going?
Brittania718
Hey thanks for the reply. I love the locs. I wish I had sisterlocks 10 years ago!!! I love them.
Do you still have them?
It’s 2019: I got Sisterloc’d in 2009. Wish this video was available back then! “Are those extensions? How much did those braids cost”😫Yes the stares and questions were so annoying. Now it’s “who does your Sisterlocks?”
Your hair's B-T-Full!
Those questions are killing me! lol I even got: I love your hair because I know it's real ( white boy) I normally wash my hair every other day with Head & Shoulders. I'm allergic to the petroleum in most hair products so I don't put anything else. That is it! wash- let it dry- braid or put rollers overnight to add volume. I re-tighten it, myself, once a month using safety pins ( movie and wine) lol. I haven't depended on anyone to do my hair in over 3 years!!
One more thing: I think Head & Shoulders is helping in slowing down the locking process. I didn't want to lock too fast anyway.
For coloring: I use Henna.
Again: Your hair is beautiful!!
I get my install on 9/12/16. I want to eventually learn how to re tighten my own hair as well. Don't really want to depend on anyone. But I will go to the loctician for at least a year to make sure everything is cool. And I also use henna but was worried about using it once I'm loced. How is that working out for you? Is it hard to rinse out of the locs? Does any stay in the locs?
thank you so much!! I am getting mine tomorrow and I am only in middle school and my hair stylist is saying that it will be long by the time I am in high school!!
Thank you for the tutorial. I'll be starting my lifestyle journey in 1 week, I'm mentally ready.
Great info with realistic expectations. Thank you!
+TayNorrel Thank you
You need a survival kit just to get your hair done LOL!
Thanks so much for this video. I want to have Sisterlocks installed. I'm DONE with twisting my hair! I just cannot anymore. Thanks, thanks, thanks!
+TenacityResilience You're quite welcome! Have you decided on a consultant yet?
Yes I have. She's in the Oceanside, CA area. My consultation is scheduled for 11/21!
I love to see sisters with there natural hair love it sister
Thank you for this video. This was very helpful. I’m seriously pondering on getting Sisterlocs in the next few months
That is the most beautiful locks I've seen how long have you had them for
Why thank you Diandra! It's been 8 years
Absolutely gorgeous! I'm officially convinced.
Great information! Thank you. I have been considering sister locs for a few years, but I haven't been able to find any info. Now I'm subscribed :)
THANKS sooo much for this! I'm researching, going for consultations, and asking people, but this was super helpful! I'm thinking three to four times now. It's sooo beautiful, but the time, money, and upkeep is A LOT to consider! 🤔🤔💆🏽💆🏽💆🏽
it sure is a lot to consider. How has your decision making been?
Thank you.. I needed to hear this💖💖💯💯. Seriously considering making the power move
You are too funny! Love your content. Seen your new upload and I just kept watching!😍😂
Im starting my own sisterlocks. I took the trainee class and am using my mom as help and explaining what she needs to do sectioning wise. I cut my first set because of bleaching and locks falling out. Never being cheap again and going to a proper colorist but probably wont dye this set.
Thanks for all the info. Much appreciated, I'll look for more of your testimonials
Thank you for this video. I have been natural for 6 years now and have been thinking about getting sisterlocks for the past month.
I was unsure about this at first but I so want them. They are gorgeous!!
718? you must be from NYC! hey gurl!!! 💃💃💃
You already know
Brooklyn in the house. Brownsville baby
Very informative and funny. I'm considering locs, either sister locs or interlocking.. so I'm here for research lol
I have seen you before. LOL.....I don't want to say the state, but I do know Kevina, if that rings a bell. Girl, I love your channel. I am thinking about sister locks for a while now. I think I'm going to do it.
OrganicBeauty LOL hey there. Thanks for the love. I love my sisterlocks. Best decision I made
I love your hair! Thank you so much for the information! I was considering getting sisterlocks because of my lifestyle plus I have 6 kids three of them are girls with a lot of hair. I was thinking about getting their hair done too. Until you mentioned installation time (which I can deal with) and the upkeep (not so sure). I need to watch more of your videos and do more research on them. Right know I'll continue to do mini twists. Sister locks seems so promising.
Yea, for the kiddies, they aren't going to want to sit there for long, at least initially. There's nothing with mini twists until their old enough to sit for an extended period of time. Just know, the longer you and your daughter's hair gets, the more money it may cost to install.
thanks for referring me to this video...great video i really got some good tips from this video. i actually have my consultation on Monday. i went on the sisterlock website to find a consultant in my area. so well see how it goes im excited though
I'm glad you found this to be useful
Here watching
This is so informative,,,I'm thinking about getting them.
Sweet!
Your video has helped me immensely! Thank you!
You're welcome
Your hair is so long, thick and beautiful
thank you
I hear in Maryland the prices are verrry expensive. Its sad because we should be motivating sistahs to go natural. The prices are a turn off. Sisterlocs are not for everyone.
I love your hair!!!!
LMAO!!!! The people wondering what is going on with your hair...2 funny!!! That is so TRUE!!! LOL!!!
LOL it's sooo funny.
Awwww...your installation pic was so pretty!!!
I love my hair! I'm not hooked on trying to look like others. Thank you so much 😘😘😘
thank YOU for being so honest :) Love,Kenya
love your channel girl. I've done the big chop and currently 2 inches afro hair. Is that a good enough length to install my sister locks?....I've been waiting for this a long time :)your hair is fab to the max....shout out from London UK xxx
+shelly hoyte Thanks Shelly!!!
thanks for the video! so what do you think about "dry locking" Sisterlocks? Im on my second set of Sisterlocks (long story). But for certain reasons, I decided on dry cleansing my scalp and hair (more details can be given if needed). when I had traditional locks this "celebrity" stylist would do scalp cleansing on me because she said my texture would take a long time to lock (I took them out after 2 years because they didn't lock lol) and to prevent bunching. all of her clients hair looked BEAUTIFUL, so I trusted her judgment, and I thought that this would be a good idea to try it out now with my Sisterlocks. So far I am extremely happy about the results! it looks like all the bloggers hair on youtube who have all these perfect locks from start to finish as opposed to looking like a shag rug or a wet dog like I did before (I used Sisterlocks products and banded properly and religiously). So my biggest issue now is wanting to know when I should transition from dry washing to "wet" washing my hair with traditional shampoos again. and when I do, should I begin to band again like my Sisterlocks are freshly installed. Thanks :)
Your hair compliments your beauty. Very nice look....
Hello, I've been researching sisterlocks lately and stumbled on to your channel. I'd like to get some done but probably not until I'm in NY. What consultant in NY do you use if you don't mind me asking? I really love your sisterlocks by the way they are beautiful!
thank you! I see Wariesi. She's on the website too
You're welcome, and thank you very much!
People always ask questions about natural black hair.
23 HRS to install??? What in the ....im still in shock. Jaw dropp
Ok sooo...this is a dumb question but the initial install will be the length of your own hair? Or can you get extension?
There is something called nordalocks for the sisterloc look using extensions
I have very short and thin hair would you recommend it for my hair
I'm getting my sisterlocs installed December 27 really excited. Question for you should you wash them after you get them installed. What do you do for the stiffness after the installation.
Great information! Thank you!
Love your hair! Who does them??
How often do you get it done though!? Thank you for this video! I think we have the same hair texture... 4C! Right?
there is no waiting period to wash you hair for traditional locs...js...I don't know how that myth came about
Exactly. I rinsed my hair everyday during my shower at the beginning.
What happens when your lockers grow out and you want them shortened
thanks for sharing. I love your locks.
Thank you
Thank you soo much! I have been debating oh whether I want sister locks or not
I love your hair. I want them. what about my shrinkage? I have very thick coarse hair with major shrinkage when it gets wet. Bern natural for 9 years. was wondering how this would work? did I say major shrinkage?
Come on Bertha!!!!! LOL I'm so loving you sis!! This is so informative!!
LMao i love ya humor. Thanks sis for the info!
lol thank you ;)
Love your hair 🌹
Thank you!!
Thank you for this video! Quick question, would you recommend retwisting your own sisterlocks in order to save money??
it wouldn't be the same if you retwist it, have you taken the retightening course?
Not yet, but I'm planning on doing so. Would that be a good idea?
You need to take vacation day for those locks.
Amazing locs and great advice.
Thank you ;)
My question is can you get Sisterlocks if you have alopecia? it''s right down the center of your head? If so where can I go to find a good installer? Thank you?
Hey I'm from Chicago the north side of Chicago that is and I am having a very hard time finding someone to do my install I was unsure for years if I wanted to lock and I've been looking into different styles different sizes and sisterlocs seems like the best option but I can't find anyone to do it just wondering where you're located and if you can refer anyone
My goodness..thanks for the info. I am going to give it a try
I wonder if they hurt to set it up (I’m tender headed).
Your experience was very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for watching

Thank you! I'm glad it helped
Great vid! How do u know if someone is registeree

Should I trust a "trainee" or wait until they are certified? What does a trainee lack by not being certified?
Do you entourages hair
Great Video Thanks for the advice!
What's a grid
Beautiful hair😍
Those questions lmao. I got those a lot when i got my hair twisted i was like wtf
Lol it's so funny to get those random questions
Great video!
what are the many styles sister locs can be styled in
How often do u retwist and how much does each session cost more or less?
Do you think you would ever dye your hair with some color
This lady said “she does starter locs but also told me she does sister locs are those the same thing? All the ladies on the site said they’re not accepting new clients which I think they’re just saying that
Do they get tangled?
If I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten sister locks years ago
Yessss inner fat girl lmao. But I LOVE your locs, the thickness is just beautiful.
thank you doll
Is $450 a good price to pay?
Yes I paid $1200 with 10 inches of hair and got 510 locks
Is this permanent? Can you get them combed out
Thank you for sharing these tips. I have been wanting sisterlocks since 2010 and I just made my consultation today! Would you recommend going to someone who is a trainee listed on the sisterlocs site?
Trainees will more than likely be cheaper. Ask to see their work before you decide
+coilygurl Trainees may not have work to show you - that is why they are trainees, still, and not "approved trainees" who are then upgraded to consultants. So make sure you read ALL THAT INFORMATION on the Sisterlocks© website because they are very specific in noting the difference. There are very good reasons to go to a trainee. One is that the Sisterlocks© organization is very strict about the minutiae of every detail of the installation of their locs from installation through execution to completion. Trainees have this fresh knowledge foremost and at the tip of everything they know about hair. Some may be licensed cosmetologist; some may be professional braiders or some may be Sisterlock clients who just thought "I can do that!" who decided to invest in Sisterlock classes. Whomever may be on the Sisterlock website on the trainee list that comes up when you look at it (because they DO move up and on) just KNOW they have more to offer than just a "lower price."
BackToBeautifulHair thank you so much for the reply. The young lady that I went to is actually just a step away from becoming a certified consultant. I had my sister locks installed on 8/12 -13/15. I am very happy with the results so far!
You're welcome, @ coilygurl! I am so happy that you are happy with your results. Just know that when and if you ever move across town or across state, you can always refer to the Sisterlocks website for a new cosultant. Anyone who is a trainee, approved trainee or certified consultant will always have more knowledge regarding Sisterlocks than a client; so, seek that route first. Happy healthy hair, lady!
I don't even have sisterlocks (palm rolled locks) but you provided practical advice! thank you and the nails are cute! AND I WISH someone told me sooner about those frown lines! Can't get rid of them now...smh
Thank you ;)
I am going for my sisterlocks consultation in one week. You mentioned in your video that you should not use conditioner or any other creams in your hair. When I go for my consultation should I wash my hair with just shampoo only?
Do you mind sharing how much you paid. You came a long way. You hair is gorgeous.
Hey beautiful, thanks for this video, I wanted to take the plunged next year, but but I’m wondering , if with my 4 type thin hair, sisterlocs be beautiful and “thick” on me. What you think ? thank you💕
Hello, good info in your video! I'm thinking about getting sisterlocks done within a couple weeks. I want that full look and for my sisterlocks to not be too small. Would it be best for me to get them a little bigger or get them the normal size and wait for them to get fuller and/or thicken up?
afocused2010 It's hard for me to answer that without seeing your hair..tag me in a photo or email me brittania718@gmail.com I should be able to give you a better response after seeing it ;)
Can you still get sew ins with your sister locks
You can yea
Those are sisterlocks? I thought they were regular locs
What is your hair texture
