I have had Sisterlock for 4-1/2 years. I started with 8 Inches on the top and 5 on the sides and the back. I paid $600. My hair grew to bra strap length around 3-1/2 years. That’s when I cut about three inches off, because the curly ends started to lock into fat balls. After the cut the width of my locks are all even. I have a few friends who started there journey with 4-6 inches of hair and their hair is beautiful and they did not have to cut off any hair when it grew long. I think starting with short hair is better. It save you money and your hair is in better condition when it grows out. By the way your hair is beautiful.
Thank you! Wow, I am starting to notice how loose my ends are and have concerns about them becoming fat at the ends. Such an on time comment! I'm going to talk with my loctican about it before I stress myself out lol
First of all WELCOME 😁!! Today marks my 2 year anniversary Sisterlocked! So happy made the decision to loc! I'm in Brooklyn, NY and my establishment was $1650. I can't wait to hear about your journey!
I got my Sisterlocs yesterday. I made the decision a year ago but it was so expensive in Georgia. But last August we moved back to St. Louis. So the price difference was $600. So my joints are tight.
You are asked to color before your sister loc’s are installed because coloring your hair loosens the natural curl pattern and can cause the inter locked hair to unravel and bunch with out of control loc swelling at various points along your loc’s. You can use sea salt spray to encourage your loc’s to mature much faster during the locking process.
Informative video. Thank you. However did you mention how long it took? I was also wondering where you got your installation and what city. I am in Michigan. Thank you. BTW your hair is beautiful!
@@krestaleonard2128 Thanks for watching! It took about 12hrs on day one and 4hrs on day two. I’m in the DC metro area and found a stylist about 40 mins away from me
I got mine in 2020 and paid 900! I knew these would be more if I waited based on how popular they were becoming. I’m going on year 4 and love it. The best $900 I spent. (I also waited until tax time sooo 🤑😂 that helped) Your locs are beautiful!
Mine were just over $1200. I think I was overcharged since my hair isn’t an even length all over and she didn’t loc the full length, not even half for some locs. But I wanted to be locced asap, so I am happy to be locced.
Thank you I have small traditional locs...cutting them off after 5 yrs.... my roots are fine... locs are too heavy I have about 3 inches of new growth...

Agreed! It’s still growing on me but I am loving the get up and go life!
@@hopefulreality yes! I was a loose natural for over 10 years. Loved it. But the grew tired of the detangling life, lol
Can you please share who did your install? Thank you.

I budgeted $2K for my Sisterlocks. However, a trainee established them, I spent 1/3 the amount
That was very budget savvy!
I wonder why some stylist charge thousands of dollars when they are installing braid locs or twist locs when its not sisterlocs 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Yeah that’s not cool at all 🙅🏾♀️
They seem to be capitalizing on popularity of SL.
They are taking advantage of ppl who have not done their research.
Girl my quote is $3,000 because of the length of my hair.🤦🏽♀️
$3000 🥴?!!
Yep I paid $2100
Hi! Thank you for sharing! How long was your hair prior to install?
You're welcome! It was about 12-14ins long
What city you in ??
DMV lol
So 2500 dollars must be crazy because that’s what it will cost me next month in California.
Wow that’s practically doubled what I paid! Goodness inflation is everywhere
How did they turn out? I’m in California too and just started looking for someone.

The video was helpful, however I wouls have liked to see all your hair down
