I find it baffling that they replace crouch button with a "stealth" button but they only allow us to be stealthy on certain missions, while on any other situation, killing one NPC will alerts everyone in the area of our position
Wait until you find out that in RDR2, a masterpiece in many ways, has a stealth crouch button that has absolutely no purpose: if you fire an arrow or throw a knife, everyone and their mother will spot you and start shooting. And yet, it works with animals... and in some missions. But not against NPC's in freeplay. WHY?
Stealth makes the rest of the GTA5/RDR2 movement system look non-clunky in comparison. It gets even worse in GTA Online, where stealth approaches in certain heists are so RNG-dependent it's not funny anymore. And yet Rockstar North had shown itself to be fully capable of creating a stealth game: Manhunt.
@@unocualqu1era Why? Because you killed someone in a public area! If you kill someone in the forest or something, nobody will notice it was you (if it's a group, they'll look for you but won't know it's actually you)
If a tree falls in the forest and no one around it hears it, did it make a sound? Well yes, the police in GTA 5 did, and they will give you a 6 star wanted level
Great video man! Especially the editing, learned a lot of interesting stuff. 7:22 If you get out of your vehicle in some place crowded and hang around, someone can eventually get in it and drive away. I think police can steal vehicles if they lose their car in order to chase you down. There is also the random event where the criminal points a gun at you and steals your car. I wouldn't consider any of these to be 'random events' like what you are asking after though, so yeah I don't think I have ever seen it either.
one weird thing ive noticed about gta 5 is that police seem to just be constantly aware of your exact location at all times. for example, if you hide in a spot where you would never be seen no matter where they looked, they walk straight towards you and jump right in as if they already knew you were supposed to be there. the same happens during chases, theyll always spawn right next to you as if they know where you are, even when theyre supposed to be searching for you
Which is such a far cry from GTA IVs police, where if you hid cleverly enough, the police would search your surrounding area, going into alleyways and such but wouldn't find you and eventually give up, but police in GTA V know exactly where you are no matter how good you hide. You could be on top the Maze Bank tower and they still come and find you.
@@HeadHunter697 ive had police literally climb into hiding spots that they shouldnt even know exist after theyve completely lost sight of me, they genuinely just go directly towards you. theyre not even trying to hide it
its a "scent feature" (Cause apparently they took the meaning of dogs being police officers too litearlly) if you hang in one location for too long they will all IMMEDIATELY be directed to your exact location, its like 30 seconds of hiding. its so stupid, whats the point of trying to hide when they'll instantly know where i am BECAUSE im hiding
10:53 When GTAO brought out vehicle exports, I swear this modifier was ramped up. This is because your payout is dependent on vehicle health, so more crashes=less money=higher chance of buying shark cards
@@michaelstraw4230 They do in OG story mode as well. In fact at least on PC, it's gotten slightly BETTER, NOT worse. The op is conspiracy-theorizing that a game that frustrates people is leading them to buy microtransaction services, which the reality is most MT services are purchased by NEW players, almost always one time to jumpstart their experience.
@Belarusian Barbecue Enjoyer Conspiracy hive-minded Gen Z BS with zero basis in reality. The peds basically turn without looking and, in story mode, are good at actually following traffic lights, which the player is most usually going to run. It is there to cause random crashes, and is on purpose to add to the element of frustration and ridiculousness that LS has, in comparison to the real life LA. Also it was been explained that the direction NPCs dive in to AVOID you when you GO AT THEM HEAD ON is simply the OPPOSITE direction they first spotted you flying at them at, not the best direction to avoid you. Also, poor hardware like console or AMD is going to make the experience worse. While the converse conspiracy is that GTA IV is MORE realistic, this actually proves that GTA V is more "realistic" (which in some regards, it IS). And cutting people off is very common in the West coast. However, nothing holds a candle to how bad the NPCs can drive in GTA IV. In V, the mechanics are at least alerted so if you run into them or they into you (rarer), and you don't die, then they stop and basically make it easy for you to steal their car.
It's lifeless because over half of the map is an empty stretch of land, not many interiors, and generic npcs at every corner. In other words, it's an open world game.
@@MikyleY I often find myself getting on online for 30 minutes then leaving because theres just so little to do outside of heists and grinding the same cargo over and over,it doesnt even pay off cause theres nothing to do with that money except pvp in public lobbies.
@@NotUp2Much RDR2 is even emptier than GTA V yet that map feels much more lively. At least it doesn't feel as dead as Metal Gear Solid V's map (brilliant game despite that flaw)
Honestly every GTA game has this problem. Probably because once you finish literally everything there's nothing to do. So you're now stuck on an island in the middle of the ocean with a bunch of lifeless NPCs
V is such a bizzare entry in the franchise, yes it's probably the most iconic and to some, the best one. But damn some of these development choices kind of ruin it a little.
@@justGesha I don't know, If it's true or not, but some gta players said that the reason gta 5 has inferior mechanics compared to gta 4 because they had tone a lot of stuff due to hardware limitations of PS 3 and Xbox 360. R* traded good gameplay mechanics and AI for big open world and graphics.
@@Sanjay-fg8qh Rockstar toned it down because people complained about it too much Your friends call you too much? Let's dumb it down! It's completely optional now! The driving feels like driving a tank and a boat at the same time? Let's make cars actually responsive and turnable in corners! Ragdoll physics? They didn't look natural, let's make it more *realistic* Yeah as much fun as GTA IV was like 15 years ago, it's completely outdated compared to most things from V. (Also do NOT mention the story. Both of them have their ups and downs, but are both good and bad in their own ways)
@@Mewtwo_150 I always felt like V was developed based on fan feedback. You always exit the car after turning off the engine regardless if you press or hold the enter button since players would always turn off the engine in IV for some reason.
The lack of gang violence among street gang members is also what I noticed while playing GTA 5. Back when I played GTA 3 I remember how there were separate territories for each gang and there would be shootouts starting if they cross the territory For example If you brought Leone mafias near the Triads then they would start gunfight or fist fight with each other it was hilarious to watch just stand there and watch all the rage on street between different gangs I hope they bring something like this back in GTA 6.
Something I always find amusing in San Andreas is when a ballas in a car would accidentally cruise into Grove territory, and the grove members would start shooting at the car or run to pull the ballas out to kill him. Happens a lot in the frontiers between territories.
It’s weird because the factions in the game are coded to attack each other but it’s something you have to force the game to do itself. If you go to LS while Martin Madrazo is hunting you, when his hitmen spawn you can just drive to grove street and the NPC’s will start attacking each other, but it’s not a dynamic event in the game it’s something you to go through the effort of creating yourself which is such a shame 😊
me guessing for its scale, putting all the details from its predescessors would be demanding on hardware resource. remidns me of even opening interiors and adding business mod in GTAV tanks fps
ngl, i do think gta v is pretty good and all, but rockstar really did make some pretty strange decisions when developing it. like, aircraft in the game actually have some pretty good deformation. however, you mostly never see it because planes will explode if you even nudge something slightly. stealing the large jet from lsia is incredibly challenging before getting a hanger, because taxiing means that a police car or two will probably run into your landing gear, which pretty much means instant death. and can i talk about the explosions? explosions honestly feel so much less powerful than in gta iv. gta iv had massive explosions with flaming flying debris, it’s awesome! not the case in v, helicopters will have one tiny explosion and then just fall down split in two, it doesnt even look destroyed. even sa was better than that, when helicopters were hit with an rpg, they would produce tons of smoke and explosions, they would start tumbling down, then when they hit the ground there would be tons of explosions and an actual destroyed looking helicopter, with so much fire surrounding. gta v plane crashes also suck, if you nosedive into terrain you will legitimately just stop in place and explode in the most nonsensical areas. the cockpit? wings? vertical stabilizer? why didnt the entire plane explode? honestly probably would have been better if they split all the main plane components (wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, fuselage..) then split those parts into fragments that would either just be gone or intact depending on where your plane crashed. anyway, great video gesha, welcome back!
Yeah exactly, in GTA 4 you could break off the tail section of the Annihilator and continue controlling it in a new way before crashing, it 5 the whole thing just goes *pop*
@@EBTS-3 lol i love doing a trick where you bash the maverick’s tail on the building and just fly while it’s hopelessly spinning. like the big tower in broker to the airport, very fun lol
@@iwtdl_ I think the biggest problem with GTA V is that it got released on the Xbox 360/PS3 to begin with. If the game launched with the 8th generation of consoles, then mechanically GTA V would not be as strange and unfinished as it is.
@@fredster594 That's true. I love GTA V but it would've been great if they delayed it by one year to release it onto PS4 and Xbox One. The game would be a lot better.
The intentional crashing could be the game trying to slow you down so that you don't outrun the level loading/ LOD change. But there's definitely an argument to be had in Online; in the import/export missions to be exact, where every dent is accounted for, the driving of the AI is just brutal.
Man, I haven't played GTA 5 since 2016 and I still remember how annoying the traffic was in that game and how it felt like NPC would intentionally try to crash into you. My most vivid evidence of this is when you're getting ready to cross an intersection and a car would significantly and not-so-subtly speed up and slow down just to cut off your path through the intersection. That shit never failed to piss me off. So, I'm glad this video confirms to me that I wasn't crazy about it all those years ago.
So true, you can be driving perfectly, and then some random npc teleport in front of you and stops you, even more annoying if youre trying to do sell missions, running from the cops, gang members, etc
@@OGuiBlindaoexactly when i’m doing vehicle cargo missions there’s ALWAYS an npc trying to hit me. once there was a bus that came full speed in front of me while i was crossing an intersection and i lost like 3k value of the car
There's an in-game reason for the gangs not being a thing - they're completely outlawed in the game, as mentioned a few times in the story line. Also notice how in the story you've got a Balla talking with families in one of the missions without guns instantly blazing.
In regards to a civilian stealing a vehicle, it does happen in GTA V, but feels more like a scripted function to clear the road and save memory. Leave a car in the road, let it block traffic and cause congestion and a random ped will take the car and drive off. The thing is though, it will be a random ped of any kind (not even a criminal ped) that takes off with it.
Interesting, I somehow have never seen that happen despite having played a ton of GTA 5. That's the thing with the random events in this game, they are so freaking subtle that you don't even feel like they make a difference to the game's world.
I’ve had an box steal my car during a mission and drive off with it. I had to chase him down kill him and get my car back. It was actually cool thought because I had a tracker of him on my mini as it was my personal car.
One time me and my friends we're in a session together and he began moving in his terrorbyte. We didn't notice anything cause none of us were near him until we heard him ask "Who's in my terrorbyte?" none of us said yes and eventually he got out and found out that some AI woman got into the driver seat and began driving around.
@@ChancellorCarmine lol 😆 honestly I was so dumbfounded when it happened to me. Its pretty cool tbh that something so random can change up the scenario in a mission.
The deformation is still in the game but it's hard to get it to work now. You need a huge vehicle to be able to deform a small vehicle. Like one of those construction vehicles.
If you hit the same spot on a car with the Atomizer gun you can get some surprisingly good deformation without exploding the car. Its still as good but needs a lot more impact now and the mid section doesnt bend, they have the density of scale model cars
Every car added before last gen (PS4/One) has intense deformation depending on the impact. Starting with Freemode Events for some reason, Rockstar decided to low the intensity of the deformation. Leading theory is copyright but I highly doubt that.
if i'm not mistaken, the pedestrians reporting crimes feature is probably an actually finished feature from GTA: III that was cut during the development processes. according to erorcun, if you commit a crime in that game, pedestrians will reach the nearest pay phone and report the crime they just witnessed and the game will give you a wanted level. it's fun to realize this feature is actually properly done this time but only after 12 years... or not.
10:50 As far as I am concerned, this didn't use to be the case until the Vehicle Cargo Missions were added. Rockstar felt that delivery and source missions would be too easy, so to chip away at player's profits, they made cars swerve into you, so you would be forced to pay for repairs. I think that to keep parity between Online and Story Mode and to avoid raising suspicions, they chose to change both traffic systems and rewrote the game code
@@floorballl_ now hold on, that doesn’t mean the argument has no merit because it does. A lot of gameplay tweaks and changes are definitely made with the intention of making the game tedious and pushing card sales. To believe otherwise is just… smooth brained tbh
The AI can also change their rate of fire for some of the guns. I've seen them use AK's like miniguns and pretty much almost kill me from full armor in a single burst.
That's especially annoying during survivals, causing a minigun burst to be an instant death in a higher wave. Also really, really noticeable with those damn Merryweather dudes, who also take around 10 headshots before they finally die (they don't even wear helmets like, ever!)
Nice vid! I also discovered that in GTA V cops actually know where you last were for 20 seconds, it seems like it should be impossible but they always find you, meaning you should either hide in a hard to access spot or keep on the move.
You just have to change your hiding spot more than once, or steal a car, or go to a bush. It's a race against time, and every time you change your hiding spot, you are buying yourself more time, until the wanted level disappears.
@@goldbullet50 I know it’s just that seems kinda rigged cause imagine you sit there thinking you’re safe but the cops come out of nowhere and you get shot in the head they should at least make it more subtle
At least in GTA online, the cops always know where you are even if they don't see you. You can move as far as you want with the cops not seeing you, even if you're hiding on the other side of Los Santos from where they last actually saw you, they will still approach the location you're currently at. Like, if you're last seen at the casino and then go hide at the construction site, the cops will drive to the construction site and walk on foot to exactly where you are.
What really sucks about the broken stealth is how many missions have a "stealth option" but make it impossible to actually do it. Like putting in way too many npcs so you cannot sneak past them, or just randomly breaking your cover for no reason. Also, I am certain that enemies in online have way better health and aim than ones in single player.
I can solve the "online enemies having better aim than the player" mystery for you: sometimes they shoot their weapons faster than they're supposed to so that you'll take much more damage in a shorter amount of time. Im sure you probably played Survival back then and had an enemy melt your health bar in a second. Well, thats why. Might be a tinfoil hat conspiracy from me now, but Im pretty sure they did it so that it would take people more time to complete missions and events online, pushing you towards Shark Cards to skip frustration. A common mobile gaming tactic.
That is a well known bug where an npc with an automatic Weapon empties their whole mag in around a second with perfect accuracy It happens all the Time in older missions but seems to be way less frequent in new ones
seeing how Rockstar mastered scripting, theyre being lazy i guess(?). was online like that since its given to make the the game more grindy and make the game longer, same time as speedrunnin misisons give less reward for shark cards
This video made me realize just how ambitious GTA 5 was and how much content was likely lost to lack of resources or time. It looks like the game was supposed to have so, so much more, just like GTA 4 did. Makes you wonder how much content we saw in the GTA 6 leak will even make it into the game, if they don't scrap everything because it got leaked.
For those who want to say that they're not random events, here are some more random events that occur in SA: Police chasing an Criminal Car, Police chasing an criminal on foot, Pedestrains talking randomly without knowing the other person or knowing the other person (this is the most random one because the talk always changes and response is random aswell), Removed but existing in a buggy state is the Street drunks have their own special animations and features, Police Helicopters flying over the city that is going for some kind of crime we don't know.....
Awesome video. Been working with the in-game files modding and im glad someone realized at 11:00 the SWAT AI is broken af inside interiors. There are interior flags put in the game which if removed fixes the AI, not sure if its an unfinished feature or what but its fixable.
Thank you! But quite the contrary actually, I should be thanking you because your SWAT Interior Fix is where I first learned about this bug. Thanks to that mod I was able to film the intro for the NOOSE sequence. I've also linked it in the pinned comment.
Your videos are actually quite well made, I love the editing and effort. Keep it up, I didn't expect to stick around for so long on a seemingly random video :)
I've been waiting for someone to make this for YEARS. I felt like I was crazy when I tried talking about how broken/non-existent stealth is in this game. Not a big deal on its own, but the heists that use stealth are the most inconsistent and annoying missions in the game. Great video!
@@NBA_Lucky April Fools was 2 days ago. But seriously, it was the greatest game of the X360/PS3 era. And that's it. You can't keep a game from that time running for 10 years with half assed QOL updates and still call it the greatest
Things I noticed about GTA V's AI, both playing it and reading the files: • There is a small chance a jumbo jet will crash when entering Michael's safehouse. • When entering any safehouse, the chance of a spawned police chase increases greatly. • Wanted level thresholds are determined by a numerical meter, which resets when you die/lose the cops. Taking down helicopters gives the highest value to the meter. In this way it is possible to get 4 stars and have the dispatch send out NOOSE for punching someone if you're bordering the 4 star threshold. • NPCs in an area will have different 'moods', making them more likely to run away screaming or to simply speedwalk away if you are insulting them. • NPCs outside restaurants, bars, and landmarks are typically more aggressive if insulted and are more likely to fight the player. • Homeless NPCs walking on busy streets in richer neighbourhoods have a higher chance of being aggressive then when found elsewhere, like underneath the Olympic freeway, but only if you insult another NPC near to them, which usually is what results in aggression. Which is also true for my previous point. • All NPCs have recorded dialogues for different actions (greeting, agreeing, dismissive, telling a story, making a comment, threatening, insulting, etc.,), though you will never hear some of these without using mods to change the behaviour (female NPCs will basically never fight you unless glitched). When walking past two or more NPCs, they are programmed to either argue, with one 'winning' and the other walking away, with the winning one using the 'victory' dialogue, or one will simply tell the other stories or make a comment, the other NPC will play the 'agree' or 'dismissive' dialogue randomly.
Bit of a correction with the Female NPCs not fighting you, the rural female NPC you see in well the rural parts do have a chance of fighting you if insulted
The car cutting you off can be really funny sometimes. Once i was driving down the highway in first person and basically reached an off ramp to exit the highway to somewhere. I remember the NPC infront of me just going spastic and swerving right to left until it crashed into me. I really wish I was recording that.
My theory on intentional car crashes is that they happen to slow the player down so that the map has time to load. Since it was released for ps3/360, if you went too fast on the road you could start running into map loading issues where the higher LODs didn't have enough time to load in.
Need a pt2 this was very interesting and damn right the NPCs intentionally try to wreck you in my experience it's so blatantly obvious they made it like that pretty annoying
Hey gesha great video, I'm so glad you did tis as this game has some incredibly baffling game design that has just been ignored and instead praised, this doesn't even begin to scratch the surface, of NPCS with laser aim, aimbot etc
7:35 Pedestrians can in in fact steal other pedestrians vehicles, as well as your own if you carjacked them. DarkViperAU covered this in a facts and glitches series video. Basically, in any car that has 2 pedestrians in it, you can make the passenger get mad at the driver, run around the car, and carjack them lol. It's pretty funny to watch honestly.
Yesterday, I was playing as Trevor driving near the hills of Vinewood and a blue dot appeared on the map. I thought it was a random event so I stopped. However, it was a pedestrian that jacked my car and drove away😂. I’ve played the story mode 6 times with ~75% completion and it was the first time I saw something like this.😅
This is really interesting stuff! I really hope the next entry in the series has much more realistic driving and car damage mechanics and the cops are much more realistic.
7:28 I remember that actually happened to me in GTA Online. I was doing the Tequila-la-la MC mission and I once I got out of the bar, I saw an NPC stealing not my car, BUT MY FUCKING HELICOPTER LMAO
I believe that the NPCs desire of cutting you the road might be something coming from the old-old gen versions of the game: possibly because at higher speeds the map would load slower and this wouldn't allow you to see the unloaded textures, by directly blocking you.
@@integralcialbay4633Yeah I recently replayed GTA IV and was getting demolished. I feel like they do it really aggressively on the upscaled xbox version, hahaha they swerve to change lanes like they want insurance money
I'm glad you made this video, the first time I actually played GTA 5 for myself was back in 2021 and I've only been watching videos of it since 2013, before 21, I played GTA 4 like crazy and the older gta games aswell, so when I played GTA 5 for the first time, all I could think was how crazy different it is from every other GTA game, from music in the background, to health system, to the removing of crouching, to the 5 stars instead of 6, the special ability system, the rectangular hud, the weapon and radio wheel, all just soooo weird to a classic GTA player, personally I think GTA 5 is a freak accident, it has such a different formula from the other GTA games that I bet if it wasn't for GTA online, it would be remembered as a really weird and insignificant GTA game.
Least retarded comment in this comment section. You're just another one of many biased fanboys that tries to make a distinction for this game when it's basically the same formula as the rest, several of the aspects you mentioned are more or less the same as basically every other GTA game and it's funny that you mention 4 which was criticized for the same thing back in the day, the thing is that that game was less of a GTA Game compared to the rest, 5 went back to the original direction of the series.
I thought nobody would bring this up. This is the biggest game of all time and barely anyone understands how it even works behind the scenes. Very peculiarly.
Amazing video. Knew 90% of the things brought out, but still enjoyed it a lot. Good job! By the way, whatever57010 has a couple of videos of NPCs driving into him. A few clips there would make anyone 100% sure, that they indeed do it on purpose.
In GTA IV the “writhe” thing was so much better. It was actually permanent and they wouldn’t die unless you shot them continuously or shot them in the head. Otherwise they would writhe and try to get up occasionally and switch the side they are laying on and they would give voice lines begging for t their life and eventually sometimes they would get up and start limping away from the scene, or an ambulance would take them and drive away
GTA V's traffic has a few issues that cause them to constantly jump in front of you. Rockstar never properly coded in the right of way for left turns - traffic will stop to allow left turns into Chumash's side roads for example, meaning that left turners will just blindly cut you off. There's also a vastly simplified movement system when traffic is outside of a specific distance threshold, which is why traffic sometimes just changes its mind when you're approaching an intersection and gets in your way. There's also seemingly weird scripting to allow things like right turn on red, and poorly mapped out traffic routes (which can be seen with mods) cause traffic to erratically move into turn lanes, and take absolutely nonsensical paths through intersections. The wide triangle intersections you see throughout Blaine County are really bad offenders for this. I think it's poor NPC/pathing design that causes so many of the collisions that people blame on the NPCs being coded to get in your way... aside from the traffic that rushes into intersections to block you, that seems to be totally intentional lol.
I’m so glad this video was made. Gta 5 did enough to depart itself from what made rockstar titles unique. The game is so streamlined and player focused that nothing ever happens that isint predetermined. Once you finish the main story, it’s over. The world of Los santos stops being a world. It just becomes an interactive simulation of Los Angeles. A good game should put the player in a living world that exists outside of you. Not a world that revolves around the player.
@@vidmasterK1 IV and San Andreas have flaws with that aspect too, but they're still good at that for what they are, and better than V at that aspect too. Surely they could've expanded on it with V Vice City is from the early days of the series and LCS is a low budget spinoff for a handheld console, if the latest game in the series, and also the highest budget game ever made can't beat them, then that's not a very good sign, is it?
7:35 I've done a test where I spawned a couple of parked cars on the side of the road to see if they got stolen and some of them certainly did get stolen, it just rarely happens.
i just peeped this and your SA mod video and i wanna say one thing to you: you have a very effective understanding of how to utilize camera angles. i love it
Looks likes they didn't got the time to work of those stuff and thought to leave it as it is because they thought that they are not important things that will affect the game. Although they brought back those details in RDR2 which makes me believe that they will fix those issues in GTA 6
7:38 I have actually seen pedestrians steal vehicles both in GTA 5 and GTA online, but that required me to steal a vehicle first, exit it and stay near it for a while, after some time, a random pedestrian would run towards the vehicle, enter it and escape
Intentional crashes in GTA V are way less bad than they were in IV. At least those could be somewhat realistic as indecisive drivers changing their minds. But in IV driving over the bridges at high speeds would oftentimes result in every car swerving as hard as they could into the player direction. It looks unnatural and is so annoying. I don't understand the questionable design choices that plagues some of these games
I’ve noticed that the ragdoll physics for falling down slopes works better on PS3 and 360 since you can slide without it registering as impact but on current generations sliding down a slope at high speeds will somehow count as being impact and your character immediately dies
I was watching police chase a random pedestrian in GTA v on the Xbox 360 and I stopped traffic to watch. Next thing I know the dude being chased robs me for my bike and I was so caught off guard I didn't even chase him. The only thing I could think of was that it was somehow another player. It was the only thing that made sense to me, especially seeing as my only other GTA experience before was GTA IV and even though I never got far in it I'm fairly certain no random people ever robbed the player for their car.
Also if you block a car from getting away and take a passenger out the vehicle the passenger will then steal the vehicle they were just taken out of and drive off. Robbing their friend and or family member they were riding with.
That would be an extremely stupid way of doing it considering they already had a system in place for that back in San Andreas, where instead they would decrease the top speed of your vehicles instead (via a cull zone flag called 'ExtraAirResistance'). Also, that wouldn't solve the issue when there is no traffic around.
What annoys me the most in GTA V is the ai and this unrealistic Rapid fire(Aimbot)/assisted aim whatever you want to call it)like take NOOSE and Merryweather security when they open fire on you bottomline i love your videos
The intentional car crashes thing made me hate those driving NPCs so much, I sometimes ended up getting out of the car and shooting at whoever decided to switch from lane 1 to 7 because they saw a fast shiny car closing in to them. Like seriously, it's not even fun
Npc injured and wasted system are also a downgrade compared to GTA 4 or even GTA SA. In GTA 4 when you hit npc with melee or gunshot on body parts until health goes zero, the npc will lie down appeared to be dead but actually still alive, and will wake up and run away albeit running injured. Npc will only die when, beaten too many times, headshot, burn alive etc. In GTA SA, it is almost the same except paramedics will arrive and revive only for those who "killed" by gunshot on non-head body parts, melee, run over by cars, probably explosions that don't decapitate the head. Paramedics cannot revive npc who are killed for the same reason from GTA 4, and obviously you can't revive people with severed heads. In GTA 5 this feature seems to have disappeared, and while there is paramedic, they are useless, they do nothing, they come just to observe the killed Npc and then return to hospital once they are done. This system fortunately reappears in Red Dead Redemption 2
Awesome to see a video on this. The stealth in every single mission is COMPLETELY different, as is the overworld "stealth" mechanics. It's completely incoherent. Sometimes people can see through walls. Sometimes you can shoot people not in line of sight, other times you can't. Sometimes footsteps alerts them, other times they don't do anything..
I knew it. I knew something was off in the way this game worked. Replaying some old games I'm impressed at all the details, especially with the 3D era games. Burglars can actually steal your car in all games, and in GTA3 they even steal money off you on foot (and you can get it back too). Good citizen bonus in VC, pretty much everything in San Andreas... even VCS has gangs fighting against each other and taking their businesses. And you can see them in the middle of it sometimes. I just don't get why they downgraded this game so much. Also cars exploding upon landing on the roof. One of the dumbest things in this game by far
This was a superbly detailed analysis. I could never quite put in words why 5 felt like the weakest entry in the franchise (to me anyway), but you broke it down flawlessly

WHY?
@@unocualqu1era Tbf, at least RDR2s "stealth mode" is crouching.
Ok cool the rest of the game is perfect so what
Stealth makes the rest of the GTA5/RDR2 movement system look non-clunky in comparison.
💀
unrealistic, everyone knows that trees are completely indestructible in gta 5
illegal forestry is a very serious crime in los santos.
Whoops, we don't even have 6 star wanted levels anymore
But 6 star wanted levels aren't a thing in GTA 5. It's the only one where the cap is at 5.
Great video man! Especially the editing, learned a lot of interesting stuff.
7:22 If you get out of your vehicle in some place crowded and hang around, someone can eventually get in it and drive away. I think police can steal vehicles if they lose their car in order to chase you down. There is also the random event where the criminal points a gun at you and steals your car. one weird thing ive noticed about gta 5 is that police seem to just be constantly aware of your exact location at all times. for example, if you hide in a spot where you would never be seen no matter where they looked, they walk straight towards you and jump right in as if they already knew you were supposed to be there. the same happens during chases, theyll always spawn right next to you as if they know where you are, even when theyre supposed to be searching for you
Which is such a far cry from GTA IVs police, where if you hid cleverly enough, the police would search your surrounding area, going into alleyways and such but wouldn't find you and eventually give up, but police in GTA V know exactly where you are no matter how good you hide. You could be on top the Maze Bank tower and they still come and find you.
You can literally watch them spawn in if you skyfall on 5 stars
@@HeadHunter697 ive had police literally climb into hiding spots that they shouldnt even know exist after theyve completely lost sight of me, they genuinely just go directly towards you. theyre not even trying to hide it
its a "scent feature" (Cause apparently they took the meaning of dogs being police officers too litearlly) if you hang in one location for too long they will all IMMEDIATELY be directed to your exact location, its like 30 seconds of hiding.
its so stupid, whats the point of trying to hide when they'll instantly know where i am BECAUSE im hiding
Not true actually, you can hide in a lot of locations in GTA 5, it's more so when you're out in the open or when they're next to you they notice you
10:53 When GTAO brought out vehicle exports, I swear this modifier was ramped up.

Well, it wasn't.
Confirmation bias
V's map always did feel a little lifeless and i never knew why, this makes perfect sense as the reason
It's lifeless because over half of the map is an empty stretch of land, not many interiors, and generic npcs at every corner. In other words, it's an open world game.
@@NotUp2Much yeah, even compared to some of the older gtas, the map is may be huge but completely devoid of any interiors or unique places/activities

The lack of gang violence among street gang members is also what I noticed while playing GTA 5.
Back when I played GTA 3 I remember how there were separate territories for each gang and there would be shootouts starting if they cross the territory
For example If you brought Leone mafias near the Triads then they would start gunfight or fist fight with each other it was hilarious to watch just stand there and watch all the rage on street between different gangs
I hope they bring something like this back in GTA 6.
Something I always find amusing in San Andreas is when a ballas in a car would accidentally cruise into Grove territory, and the grove members would start shooting at the car or run to pull the ballas out to kill him. Happens a lot in the frontiers between territories.
@granttodd3118i guess the point is each of the gangs went soft and are less violent. they refer to the 90's like those were the crazy days

@@justGesha gta 5 is generally lifeless

Like one of those construction vehicles.
or a tank
You need strong impacts to achieve that, like hitting an object at very high speed or smashing the car with very heavy vehicles.
Plus I love the armor but I hate how it kinda takes away from the deformation of crashing and whatnot

They also somehow always hit you in the head when doing that

Also, I am certain that enemies in online have way better health and aim than ones in single player.
stealth in online gotta be the worse, 1 npc sees you and everyone immediately knows now
I can solve the "online enemies having better aim than the player" mystery for you: sometimes they shoot their weapons faster than they're supposed to so that you'll take much more damage in a shorter amount of time.
That is a well known bug where an npc with an automatic Weapon empties their whole mag in around a second with perfect accuracy
It happens all the Time in older missions but seems to be way less frequent in new ones
seeing how Rockstar mastered scripting, theyre being lazy i guess(?). was online like that since its given to make the the game more grindy and make the game longer, same time as speedrunnin misisons give less reward for shark cards
03:06 is also supported by specific audio files made for these crimes

I’m glad you mentioned gangs and the lack of involvement in story and actual fighting
Things I noticed about GTA V's AI, both playing it and reading the files:
• There is a small chance a jumbo jet will crash when entering Michael's safehouse.
@@nickrustyson8124 Also the female bodybuilders in the open air gym next to the Vespucci Beach will fight you if insulted or attacked
I believe the reason jumbojets explode outside Michael's is due to the pilots' despawning but not the planes
The car cutting you off can be really funny sometimes.
Once i was driving down the highway in first person and basically reached an off ramp to exit the highway to somewhere. I remember the NPC infront of me just going spastic and swerving right to left until it crashed into me. I really wish I was recording that.
How is that funny? It’s a stupid thing to intentionally put into a GTA game where 99.9 of players are speeding
My theory on intentional car crashes is that they happen to slow the player down so that the map has time to load. Since it was released for ps3/360, if you went too fast on the road you could start running into map loading issues where the higher LODs didn't have enough time to load in.

Thanks! His videos is where I actually saw the intentional crashes thing for the first time.
In GTA IV the “writhe” thing was so much better. It was actually permanent and they wouldn’t die unless you shot them continuously or shot them in the head. Otherwise they would writhe and try to get up occasionally and switch the side they are laying on and they would give voice lines begging for t their life and eventually sometimes they would get up and start limping away from the scene, or an ambulance would take them and drive away
so it’s unrealistic ppl get shot will die soon
I don't think I've watched a GTA V video which actually shows the code in the game as evidence. Much more refreshing from the bunch who speculate.
Exactly. Thats what made me click on the video.
Not a world that revolves around the player.
its literally still a unique rockstar game, it just doesnt do it as good as the others.
You could say that for any of your other Rockstar titles. Vice City Liberty City Stories, IV, San Andreas
@@vidmasterK1 IV and San Andreas have flaws with that aspect too, but they're still good at that for what they are, and better than V at that aspect too. Surely they could've expanded on it with V
Vice City is from the early days of the series and LCS is a low budget spinoff for a handheld console, if the latest game in the series, and also the highest budget game ever made can't beat them, then that's not a very good sign, is it?
My man cannot upload such a banger like this and have the upload schedule he has, I NEED MORE, THIS WAS SO GOOD...
7:35 I've done a test where I spawned a couple of parked cars on the side of the road to see if they got stolen and some of them certainly did get stolen, it just rarely happens.
i just peeped this and your SA mod video and i wanna say one thing to you: you have a very effective understanding of how to utilize camera angles. i love it
9:57 do the NPC’s drive into you at higher speeds because Franklin has the slow time ability?
I freaking KNEW the other drivers were out to get me when I'm flying 200mpg down the highway
Looks likes they didn't got the time to work of those stuff and thought to leave it as it is because they thought that they are not important things that will affect the game. Although they brought back those details in RDR2 which makes me believe that they will fix those issues in GTA 6
Gta 4's vehicle handling was horrendous, especially with motorcycles since they slide too much.
4:20 the color filter and hitmarker the second someone decides to die (especially without you even moving and shooting) is so cringe.
That's only on one bridge and that's because of the train on the tracks beneath it.
@@BDozer666 okay but that one bridge and i got real beef
You actually knew some things about GTA I didn't, and that's rare (like the rooftop deformation thing!)
Subscribed.
Haha the Popo Medic / Code Blue Cam music at the end killed me ! 🤣🤣
crazy to see how unfinished 5 really is
I’ve noticed that the ragdoll physics for falling down slopes works better on PS3 and 360 since you can slide without it registering as impact but on current generations sliding down a slope at high speeds will somehow count as being impact and your character immediately dies
8:55 Oh, so that's why I crash so much. I thought I was a shitty at driving
The little buggy going from the left turn lane all the way to the right from a stop made me laugh so damn hard.
The tiny details like these make the difference between a great game and a perfect game
These are interesting finds, also thank you for explaining everything!
San Andreas random dialogue was way too funny. "Remember the lunch room bully? That's ME."
Many peoples are calling GTA V's stealth a joke but I disagree, jokes at least have meanings.
9:26 I've read somewhere that it's to slow you down so the old consoles (x360 and ps3) had time to load the world to avoid too much pop-in
That would be an extremely stupid way of doing it considering they already had a system in place for that back in San Andreas, where instead they would decrease the top speed of your vehicles instead (via a cull zone flag called 'ExtraAirResistance'). Also, that wouldn't solve the issue when there is no traffic around.
What annoys me the most in GTA V is the ai and this unrealistic Rapid fire(Aimbot)/assisted aim whatever you want to call it)like take NOOSE and Merryweather security when they open fire on you
bottomline i love your videos
The intentional car crashes thing made me hate those driving NPCs so much, I sometimes ended up getting out of the car and shooting at whoever decided to switch from lane 1 to 7 because they saw a fast shiny car closing in to them. Like seriously, it's not even fun
HE IS BACK!!!! THE LEGEND
I'm pretty sure once you reached 4 star wanted they increase cop accuracy even more
Npc injured and wasted system are also a downgrade compared to GTA 4 or even GTA SA.
1:48 Exactly two. If you just have punched two persons you automatically have a wanted level no matter if you are on the middle of the desert
13:30 So now I understand why on PS3 you can flatten cars with the tank but not on PC
Wow, what a beautiful cinematic shots!
Great video. Please make more of these 🤲
Awesome to see a video on this.
One of the dumbest things in this game by far
old console limitations
@@titanusgodzillaa4274 Ok fanboy
@@titanusgodzillaa4274no it aint lmao every other gta got 90% of these things great and all of them were on worse hardware
well done video and it was in da vinci. great vid man!!!
Ah yes, quality content as always.
Really well done video! And gosh I just hate that intentional car crash thing so much
This was a superbly detailed analysis. I could never quite put in words why 5 felt like the weakest entry in the franchise (to me anyway), but you broke it down flawlessly
Weakest? Really? Lol.
@@thirdhandlv4231 out of all the ones I've played (SA, VC, 4 & 5), yeah. If you liked it more, I'm happy for you, but my opinion is my own.
@granttodd3118GTA SA is the most overrated out of all of them imo
It's a good game, but people call it a masterpiece and I don't get it. I also have a soft spot for VC, mainly because it's the first GTA I have played.
@@buddygettingnutty8351 People say this because GTA SA is the most complete game in the franchise since there's so much you can do in the game, and also because of nostalgia, hell people think CJ is the greatest protagonist ever written and the story being the best because of that. 💀
Watch dogs have a perfect stealth system that i would love to see in GTA it even have an amazing future called realistic difficulty u can access it of course in the difficulty settings it make the stealth even more better i highly recommend watch dogs for stealth lovers or if u want GTA but in a realistic logic
I didn't know GTA V was this badly coded. Damn.
Its because the rockstar dickriding and myths never end, all stemming from nostalgia
No wonder when i kill Hikers in Mount gordo, i always get a wanted level, god damn bird
@justGesha please make Remastered Games in Android for gta Sa Gta 3 and Gta VC
This kind of gta v content with this level of production is almost never seen, so you have a new sub. Great job boss!
I love this game and I consider it the best GTA but it indeed has very weird gameplay design
