    Hello there! 👋 My name is Berylanne, but feel free to call me Anne for short! I've been joyfully married to my loving husband, Matthew, since October 2020. And yes...we married 4 months later after meeting! Together we live in a little small town in Northern Illinois. I hope my channel brings you lots of inspiration, comfort and enjoyment. I'd love for you to come along on my journey of being a wife and homemaker too! :)
    A little about me: I enjoy baking, DIY and nature. In my past I formerly pursued feminist ways, until I discovered God's ways which completely helped me get on my new path! I give all thanks to Christ who transformed my life for the better through Salvation. I share more of how I came to know God fully in the playlist titled "The Good News". 🙏
    Thanks for stopping by and thanks for subscribing! ❤

    Oh my goodness, the nostalgia!! My grandmother used to do our hair in the kitchen with one, and I can smell this video lol. The memories 💕 it straightened my hair better than any flat iron, but burns were always imminent 😅

    I love Paul Mitchell is a great line. You should try their heat protectant instead of the pressing cream. Your hair will feel a lot lighter.

    Looks beautiful! It's great to take a little time for yourself 😊 I stopped straightening my hair when my first was born. Too much work 😅

    How often do you perm your hair? Your hair was straight without pressing. Maybe just rolling it or using a curling iron would have been enough. Perms over a period of time can be damaging.

    My sister and I used to get our hair pressed by my mom when we were younger. Then when I was 13 or so I started pressing my own hair, until I went natural in 2010. If I remember correctly I believe I got my first flat iron maybe a year or so after that because I saw all the natural girls on RUclips straightening their hair with flat irons. So I assumed my hot comb usage combined with the perm I had during my teenage years contributed to my hair's poor condition. Since most of the natural girls I saw on youtube seemed to have longer and healthier hair than me.
    I started doing no heat challenges lasting several months up to 2 years long, increasing the length each time in an effort to improve the health of my hair. Not using heat did help improve my hair but using henna to cover my grays dried my hair out. Unfortunately I didnt realize my hair was damaged until I stopped using henna and indigo about 3 years ago. The coating henna has on the hair can mask the damage. I straighten my hair more often now then I used to especially now that I have found a stylist I like, and because I prefer to get my hair cuts in a blow dried state.

      @@TheHelpmeetJourney It looks like you're being safe with your routine. I saw your comment about relaxing every 3-4 months. I relaxed monthly and I realized in hindsight that was too much for my hair. You also use lower heat. I was using the highest my hair could tolerate which was also not good. The hot comb would be so hot oftentimes that the shed hair I tested it on got burned or the paper towel turned brown and I had to wait for it to cool down.

      For sure! 😊 It takes 3-4 months for my new growth to return, so I work around that timeframe. With my straightener I use higher heat setting. With a hot comb I'm more cautious - I guess because it's trickier to regulate the heat than a straightener.....? If I use my hotcomb I use lower heat for this reason too! Wow! Definitely wait for it to cool down! That's correct, brown means too hot! 👍

    I have never used a hot comb. Maybe one day if I can find one. Your hair looks nice. I need a hair relaxer soon. I was just thinking about that a couple of days ago.

      I recommend a "vintage" hotcomb if possible! The new ones on the market are just different - they're plugins. Which isn't bad, but just different. Maybe this is a reminder! 😄 Lol. Thanks for watching! ❤️

    I’m scared this would damage my hair 🥲. How often do you straighten your hair?

    • @TheHelpmeetJourney
      @TheHelpmeetJourney  9 месяцев назад +1

      I straighten my hair usually after I wash and blow dry it. About every 2 weeks. I can suggest starting with low-medium heat possibly...? Thanks for watching! 😊
