Using a Hot Comb on Relaxed Hair New Growth 🤔
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- So in this video I'm basically using a hot comb to straighten my new growth to see if it will help me to be able to stretch my relaxer. The results were very good the only downfall is that it was very time-consuming doing this. And I also forgot to mention that it rained for the next two days so my new growth kind of got back puffy again but not as kinky as it was originally. I think this would be a good alternative to help stretch relaxers if you want to do that. But y'all know me, I'll probably relax anyway because I honestly just cannot deal with the matting and tangles. Maybe one of these good old days...

Back in the day...my mom used the old fashioned hot comb. The one with the black wooden handle and you had to set it on the stove for heat. Vivid memories of a white folded hand towel and that small glass jar of blue hair grease. Once mom turned on the stove, I fearfully knew what was next. A strong warning to hold down my ear or else. RIP Ada Marie. I love you💕
Sorry
I have the same memories.
Lol! I remember using the hot comb and grease! My hair was very long! The key is to not get the comb too hot. My hair is course so I need the paper to be lightly scorched. My hair was long until I started using relaxer. 😕 It's hot comb from now on. :)
Sorry for your loss i I lost my mom to but I have both hot comb the old fashioned one and electricity one so I use both
@@whaynnaaraugo3316
I use the modern one in a form of Red By Kiss Straightening Comb. Nice thing about that one, a person can use on relaxed hair as well. I used it when I use to relax, but I am now post-relaxed. I have not relaxed since July '18. But no plans of big chop. But I can tell some degree of my hair reverting, however.....
Girl...as long as you used a heat protectant, I'm good....and I applaud you for trying to stretch your relaxers...Either way, when you relax, they gonna come for you...you use a hot comb, they gonna come for you...I applaud you for doing what YOU want to do with YOUR HAIR..on YOUR HEAD...
Yassssssssss 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This is such a smart idea. I am transitioning (11 months) and my roots are crazy curly. I can get my relaxed ends silky smooth but my new growth just won't cooperate. This is a game changer Sis! Thank you for this idea!
You're so welcome!
When I tell you I’ve been searching all through RUclips for a detailed video of the hot comb!! Thank you ❤️ you did that and answered all of my questions and didn’t take hours to get to the point!!
I agree with you 100%. I'm transitioning and have switched from a flat iron to my moms 70 year old stove top hot comb. I know how to use it and if you think about it, the flat iron is more damaging than that hot comb. Once I take the hot comb off the stove, it starts to lose heat. So its not that hot, but its effective.
I so agree with you. Hot comb only. But go to a professional my dear. I'm been with hot comb for 5 yrs and my growth is amazing, past my bra.
I think it's the crushing of the hair between 2 hot plates that make flat ironing more damaging.
I agree, hot comb and Flatiron the same especially Flatironing using THE 'COMB' chase method 🤷🏾♀️
my mom used to grow her hair really long...she did this all the time.her hair was strong. i know you know your hair. good job girl.it is fluffy
+Trice Tyme thank you hun 💗
Also if you do the “chase” method with your flat iron it’s just like pressing your hair with the hot comb!
“Hot Comb Flat Iron both heated products” “Heat is heat” 👍🏾😂 that’s right! I understand you showing us what you do with ‘your hair’ 👏🏾 so nobody can’t really come for you!
Good video I might seek one out to try too x
End result your hair looks great!
💯 lol I'm glad u feel where I'm coming from💃🏾💃🏾😜😄
Thanks!
The flatiron doesn't get all the new growth like the hot comb does and one have to make the 💰 💰 stretch and the relaxer stretch..btw..great hair ☝ ☝ ☝!
+Angelique Collins 😊
I have been using ELECTRICE PRESSING COMBS for years...find them to be better at getting to the 'new growth sections closer'...just as usual use deep leave conditioners on the hair and do not use the heat as often.
What do you mean by that ?Can help to growth your hair? How an electric comb helps?
Really Sparkle!?! Girlfriend you taught me something today and it ain't bad!I really like the finished look and yes, your explanation is dead on right.
Good on you!
Thanks boo! 👋🏽
I thought I was the only one who tried this on my relax hair. It work good for me. But you are right it is time consuming. Especially if you are scared of getting burns.
You taught me a way to deal with my 4d hair(I know doesn't exist but whatever). My new growth are so damn thick . I managed to stretch 4 months!
+Toniser Howe wow u go girl!!
Your hair is gorgeous and it looks so healthy!!❤️❤️❤️
I haven't used a hot comb in years. I have "those types of edges" that edge control does not keep them slicked down, lol. I may have to resort back to the "old school hot comb". :)
Edge Control in my opinion is a total waste of money. It does nothing but revert the hair right back in my case, hours later. I use the hot comb and grease to hold them down. Works way better
I agree my friend, lol. :)
The best way to maximize the straightening process is by deep conditioning beforehand
You can still straighten your hair with a comb or a straightener. The only thing that would break your hair off is using the opposite relaxer on your already relaxed hair. Unless your hair was already over processed. But even then you still can. Your hair looks so good btw.
It's your hair, it's beautiful and you're beautiful!💞
And so are my love 😘
Sw33tSparkl3 Thank you!😊
Wow I love the final results
Sounds like good you can probably use that method to make your stretch making easier, keeping your roots stretch /straighten , especially if you have 4b/4c hair.
+Chauncey Butler Scorpio 95 true
You are doing your thing. Please do not allow small minded people to ruin your day. You really don't owe them an explanation. Your hair is gorgeous. You're right, heat is heat. I hope people are not that petty. I love it. Hoping you and the handsome boys are fine. May God Bless. 🙏💖😍😘
+Eurlee Fulford 🤗🤗🤗
I DO THE SAME THING. I RELAX MY HAIR EVERY SIX MONTHS. MY HAIR HAVEN'T BROKE OFF YET. I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEBODY ELSE DID THE SAME THING
You just motivated me to do the same thing! I'm 4 months since my last relaxer and I'm going to try and make it to 6
@@marciadavis9616 There was a couple times I went 12 months without relaxing. I did it myself. July '18 was my final relaxer.
No big chop, I just let my hair be, especially my hair being too short as it is ( it barely reaches collarbone, even with trims ).
I just started my journey of going natural, it's only been two months, but the new growth is serious. What products do you use to keep your hair moisturized? I do plan on pressing it out every. 2-3 weeks until I'm fully natural.
Ur hair look lovely and thick. Just do you girl. Forget about them haters it's your hair do what you want with it
+Toniser Howe 💯 💯 💯
Wow your new growth is nice and thick looks very healthy .
I never thought of it like that, but you are right "heat is heat"!
💯 💯 💯
I'm sooooo glad to see this video! People always tell me not to use a hot comb with relaxer! My hair is badly broken and nappy on the left side from new growth. I sleep on my left side and the left side of me hair is in bad shape. Flat iron doesn't get close enough to the scalp. When I was a kid all i used was a stove heated hot comb and my hair was very long and thick. Relaxer has taken its toll. I will buy a pressing comb now and i believe it will help. Tfs!❤
Most definitely
I think it came out real good and im thinking about doing the same thing so, you just made my decision so easy for me to do my hair Thank you girl keep doing what your doing i applaud you as well ❤❤
Aww thanks, Glad I could help ☺️
2:39 "so please do not come for me" you're so cute 😂
Lol
I have to agree as well, very time consuming but a great result. This wouldn't work for me. I sweat way too much. "Creamy Crack" to the rescue after about six weeks or so. Whatever you choose to do, a deep penetrating moisturizing/protein conditioner on a regular along with a great leave-in is key. Your hair will thank you... Great video! 👍🏽💇🏽😉
Never heard of creamy crack! ☺
I believe to each his own if you want to use a flatiron use it if you want to use a hot comb then use it it's your hair and heat is heat no matter what just one use it everyday thank you for the review God bless you😉👌
+Sapphire thank you for your feedback Sapphire 💖
Remember my mom used to do this same thing back in the day, to press new growth
You really gave me a light bulb moment when you said heat is heat. I will try this on my new growth. I want to go back to stretching my relaxers .
+Snoody Snoody yes definitely let me know if it works for you 💙
Good job, I never used a hot comb before, this will be great for when I roller set my hair and I have a lot of new growth to go over it so the roots lay flat.
+Tyiece 👌🏾 exactly
That’s a great hot comb! I love that they’re now electric so the middle man (the stove) is cut out lol. I’m growing my pixie out to a bob so I def need to get myself a hot comb for those days new growth is not on my side before a retouch lol. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sharice 😇
Flat iron doesn't work as Well as the hot comb. My hair is breaking anyway so what's there to lose?
Sparkle, you looked like one of those Just For Me little girls at the end. Too cute! :)
Your hair is taking the hot comb well it looks good. Love your videos.
💖💖😊
Excellent. I have been wondering wondering. Thanks for showing me that. I am going to invest in an electrical straightening comb. It does make sense. Really. What the difference between the 2? 1 is a comb, 1 is a flat iron. Thanks a whole bunch. No more wondering for me finally. 1 stressor removed off the BRAIN
Glad it was helpful!💕
You right..it is time consuming..but it's worth it! Been loving my hot comb since the day I got it!❤ thanks again for the vlog! I enjoyed every bit!❤
+LaTonya Hughes aww 🤗🤗😘😘 and yes the results with the hot comb are great.
Luks gud. Try not to hot comb it too often just to eliminate it from being part uv the problem. Ur doin a very job wit ur hair. N u do wuteva u wanna do wit ur hair that suits u best. It's ur hair n u hav 2 deal wit it not us. As long as ur hair is healthy n u being consistent wit ur regimen ur hair wil thrive.
It'll be a loooong time before I use the hot comb again cuz I jus simply don't have time. I jus felt like experimenting. Lol thanks for the feedback
Sw33tSparkl3 nuthn Rong wit that. It came out real gud. I no wut u mean n how u feel bout ur hair misbehaving n having it str8 is so easy to deal wit. U do wut u hav 2. U hav my support sis👊✊✌😘
Yeah actually the flat iron is worse than the hot comb, because the heat is constant with the flat iron &with the hot comb the heat escapes
Good ole pressing comb. Black women's criptonite
💗
That's true they're both heat so heat really is heat..You got them on that one. You know what I like your way of thinking, your style and your accent..I love that! I just subscribed too..Thank you. 😀💙💥
Awww thank you Latia 💕👋🏾
Thanks for showing a different option!!
Just get a wet wrap. When your hair is wet put mousse on it. Then comb it around your scalp like a cone. Then put a towel around it and sit under the dryer.
Roots will still be think and puffy
Great job! I love your videos. I was going to use this method for the 1st time to stretch my perm and you was a great help. Thanks!

Nice results! Do you still use the DearKays straigthening brush?
You're right, pressed hair doesn't hold under moist conditions. That's why I started relaxing my hair. Big mistake! 😭
I’m going to try this my hair is growing out.
Your looks good!! Full of volume and movement. ❤❤
+Jazzy Jay 😊😘 thank you
Great results it looks nice. Your hair can handle it so why not.
🤔😏
Can this comb helps to grow the hair?
No, it jus helps to straighten the hair
Did you use heat protectant what kind I love this ideal I’ll be trying it thank you so much. You have a lot of hair. Enjoy and take care of it
Thank you hun. The current heta protectant that I've been using is:
ApHogee Gloss Therapy Hair Polisher Spray

Gotta try this tommorow. My beautician's prices are getting ridiculous. $55 to do what she just did.
Let me know how it goes
I been trying to find out from others in other video if it is safe to use an electric hot comb in my hair since I have not been relaxing since, it will be 24 months in July. So, in this video you are saying yes to that! Bless your very spirit. I could not get an answer elsewhere.
I been craving a hot comb for some reason or another, the electric kind, since seeing it in Walmart's the last couple years, but I love my modern kind, Red By Kiss Straightening Comb. Still open to adding the electric old school version.
Yass hun, go for it 😉

Most definitely! Mind my asking what temp you used, like was it 1, or 5, etc? Or do you remember you went lower end, higher end, or in the middle?
I think I was either middle or higher. If it is not straightening as good as you wanted, keep going up until you get the results you want
Hot Combs terrified me in beauty school!
Slay Sparkle 💜
😘
Your hair looks so shiny and pretty! I never knew about hot combs so I googled that and here I am! Do you think this would work for unruly straight hair too? Are the teeth fine would you say?
Hey! I'm glad you found this video then. And yes I do think it would work for unruly straight hair. Yes the teeth are fine.
Looks good! What temp did u have the hot comb on?
+Michelle's Daughter 20 is the highest setting on the unit and I don't have the original papers to let me know what exact temp that is but that's what I used
I like it! Looks good!
+ceeeceee dickson 😊
I use one too an luv it
Ik the videos old but thank you, I just relaxed my hair but I also cut it so it’s growing in and it’s so puffy I was thinking to use a hot comb, but I said “Lemme see if someone did it already so I can see how it looks 😩
Lol. Hope it works for you too 😇
What's the difference in that and a flat iron? One just a comb.🤷🏽♀️
yep
It looks great! I’ve been wanting to relax my hair but it’s just too short rn. 😂😂
+xxBeautyVibesxx 😊
Thank you so much for this video. I love your hait. Mine ised to be like that. I believe i can get it back like that.
You are so welcome! Wishing you a happy hair journey.
I been doing this for over 20 yrs so nobody has nothing to say. I still have a head full. And I'mma about to do this in 20 minutes. Lol.i have a relaxer and I have stove Combs and curlers.
+Eulandra Price 😊
VERY NICE I LOVE BOUNCE I JUST ORDERED MINES
Let me know how it works for you
I didn’t know the made straightening combs you could plug in
They sure do! I first knew of it in mid or late 90s. Bummer can only get it online now, but I reckon not enough people to use them to sell in stores....
Yes l think this is a good alternative to stretch your relaxer. Did you put a heat protector on your hair before you start this process?
+Nicole Allen yes, I did it before blow drying I already had heat protectant in
Sw33tSparkl3 Okay, kool.
Looks good!
Your hair looks so good. Do you and whats best for your hair.
+Shenika Thomas 💯
Thanks
No problem
Thank you for this video but I love the hot comb excellent I sent him work on your hair God bless cuz that's the reason I'm doing my hair today too cuz I was going to the salon but I said nah and look you popped up thank you
thanks!
which temp are you using? Great video
thank you. i believe i was using high if im not mistaken. if it gets too hot, keep turning it down until you get it to a preferable temperature
This video came in handy for me a whole 2 years later. Thank you!
You're welcome 😊
Can you please share the type of electric hot comb are you using. I am dealing with the same problem with my roots
Here are two brands I recommend

💕
Good result.
Thanks!
Looks good pumpkin
+Ms. Lynette thank you Ms Lynette 😘
I don’t think it’s bad to use heat for stretching, but you barely had new growth so I just didn’t see the point. Maybe it’s because I never wore my relaxed hair straight idk 🤷🏾♀️ I was flat twist out/flexi rod kind of girl so I never needed heat. My texture very thick and kinky too so tension is my friend and African Threading was my favorite way to stretch my new growth after month 4 (otherwise it slips off because there’s not enough kinky texture to grip on to).
Do you.
GOOD JOB!
thank you!!
GREAT JOB
Thanks!
Thsts a good idea you showed me.... where did you get hot comb from.? Great results....
Thanks hun. I left a link in the description box
Looks good.
Thank you 💖
Hi my friend I’m a new bub thank you very much for this I just order one thank you very much good luck ok God bless
Thnx hun and welcome to my channel
I have the same one what number did you put the comb on?
i put it on the highest number
how long does it last? Do you hot come every day or every weekend?
It lasts as long as there is no humidity or sweat to the new growth. I would just do it once during wash day.
@@SW33TSPARKL3 thank you 🙏 x
you're welcome
How do you get your so thick and bouncy. I’m relaxed too and my hair is thin
+Jasmine Sanders do u think ur products may be weighing your hair down?
Sw33tSparkl3 my hair been shedding so bad since I had my son 10 months ago. I tried everything from protein treatments, deep conditioning and even cutting my hair and it’s still sheds 😭
+Jasmine Sanders yes I can relate. I jus had to let it run its course. My son is 16 months and my shedding just now starting to calm down finally
Do u use edge control or any gel on your hair?
+Mizz. P yes I use both
Gr8 video TFS
Have you ever tried Mielle Organics?
+Sha-mirical Ashmi not yet
I personally think you should stay away from too much heat, and just roller set your hair. It woul be very much flatter, also use a shampoo dye for the colour. The right colour would give life. However, great job...
+meloney riggens it takes forever for my hair to dry in a rollerset plus I don't have the time to get under a hooded dryer nor let it air dry. I'm really not worried about my hair color. I'm jus letting it do its own thing. Thnx for the feedback..
I have that same hot comb
I like your hair color. Where are you from? I hear an accent.
