Yugi Muto, also romanized as Yugi Mutou, is the main protagonist of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series, along with Yami Yugi. It was stated once that Yugi is the modern day version of Pharaoh Atem. Together with the spirit of Pharaoh Atem, he holds the title "King of Games" (King of Duelists in Japanese version). Yugi possessed the three thousand-year-old (five thousand in the dub) mystical Millennium Puzzle, which allowed his body to bear host to the spirit of the Puzzle, Yami Yugi. Yugi was initially unaware of his existence and control of Yugi's body, and would involuntarily shift to Yami Yugi at trying times in the English dub. He lives with his paternal grandfather, Solomon Muto, and his mother. Yugi is part of a close-knit group of best friends: Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Téa Gardner and Bakura Ryou. Yugi's friends often cheer him on from the sidelines, and Joey has dueled at his side. Yugi has been friends with Téa since childhood and has a romantic crush on her. Téa has been shown to have romantic feelings for both Yugi and Yami Yugi.

Ya know, I as thinking the exact same thing. Half the stuff the people do in this show is like - Don't duel them, call the freaking cops, they're a dangerous psychopath that needs to be locked up
@@zbro6876 More than half of these arcs, as well as the mental trauma that came with it, would’ve been completely avoided if Kaiba invested in better security (mainly with weapons and such) and someone somewhere had the balls to either punch, maim, stab, or shoot the aggressor.

Well the first season of this show in Japan wasn't ever released over here in the USA. Due to Yami (Atemm) being a complete dick lol. It was pretty dark. So it's second season is our first slightly rewritten to accommodate certain elementa from season 2. Kinda makes ya wish for everything that happend in the show, they would of released a darker more mature Yu-Gi-Oh based in Egypt during Yami's time. Would make for a great reboot. What we got originally was a light hearted kid anime to sell merchandise. With a subtle nod to what happened during Yami's time with the card game and such.

His dual personality is what makes him stand out. Yugi Mutoh is the meek yet loving friend who cares for his friends and family while Yami Yugi does what it takes to win yet will still protect others even if ruthless action is his main game(especially in the manga).
my theory is that being sealed up with a piece of zorc's soul had corrupted him,but being with yugi 24/7 purged him of the darkness and replaced it with friendship and mercy. there is also the fact that he's from a time when winning or losing was a matter of life or death.

I think their two backgrounds play a part. Yugi only has a few friends and his grandfather to care about while Yami was a Pharaoh ruling an empire. The morals get a lot more grey. The Pharaoh is probably a bit more used to and accepting of essentially sending people to their deaths for the greater good of the entire empire so his actions appear ruthless, as any war general or world leader has to be. It makes sense why Yami would want to win at all costs because in his world that could be the rise and fall of his empire while Yugi doesn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt achieving his goals.

I absolutely loved the duel, any that marik fights tends to be a treat, never got the whole hate towards it for the joey losing thing, its a great atestment to his strength to nearly outlast someone whos completely inhuman and moreso to nearly survive the wrath of a god (Ie he did, just wasn't awake much longer after)
its also pretty good towards marik, showing both his strength and weakness in his shadow games, it gives him a great edge that won it in the end for him, but also he can't duel very well without it
All and all joey got the shit beat out of him harder than most other characters in the series and still nearly won out by willpower alone
How Joey ever won battles is beyond me, season 1 was such a pathetic shamble lol
Marik was toying with Joey the whole time. Several times where he didn’t attack when he could. He wanted to inflict pain and beat him with ra effect of the real pain. Though his toying around with Joey did cause him to almost lose if he was serious from the start Joey would have lost.

Coincidentally, Football has been played by some extinct civilization. With the players having their life on the line, so it fits.
Yugi and Atem are two of my favorite characters in anime. I love their relationship and how both had to learn something from each other,( Yugi courage and confidence in himself, Atem compassion and humility).
Also as overplayed as the the theme of friendship is played, as I get older, i appreciate it.

This was a great narration and seeing this refreshed my memory instantly! It's a appreciated! RIP Kazuki. He lead to an amazingly entertaining unforgettable anime series that brought with it a fun unique card game to date.

@@KylarStern244 slifer didnt need sacrifices, i think one of the anime special abilities allowed slifer to be summoned in a specific way, i think it was like discarding 5 cards or something. obelisk needed sacrifices, ra could be summoned normally but in sphere mode, without the ritual its just a ball that cant do anything. the life points and phoenix thing was also a thing but it never was used after Dark Marik was defeated (call me pretentious but i am using manga terminology to refer to Dark Marik just because Yami means dark in japanese.) Also exodia to this day is still an illegal card, because it just straight up says your opponent loses
@@Scyclo Slifer still needed sacrifices in the anime. That's actually why Yugi uses Jacks Knight, Kings Knight, and Queens Knight. As they allow him to easily get the needed three sacrifices onto the field.
This was the absolute *perfect* video format for people like me who had watched the majority of the original show when I was a kid, but was never able to see the complete and final ending so to speak of Yugi Muto’s life and accomplishments… thank you so much for helping me to piece together a huge part of my childhood :) long live Yu-Gi-Oh!!!

Bandai is releasing a new modeling kit series called Ultimagear. The first model in the series will be the Millennium Puzzle coming out this October which be a full scale model after it's complete. Sadly, you must assemble each piece before you can start solving the puzzle. There are instructions on how to do that, but no instructions on how to solve the puzzle. I think Bandai wants us to feel like Yugi because he had to solve it on his own.
I'm 3o now and I'll NEVER forget rushing home in the 4th grade to watch this my cousin played professional bb overseas and I first saw this while in Sweden and I've loved animes every since but Yugi took my anime virginity 😭❤️

Bruh Yugi became the true King the moment he defeated Atem
Marik's brainwashing had to be the most terrifying part on Yugi's story in the original version. Localizing it as "being possessed" lost a lot of its meaning.
Jounouchi/Joey described it very accurately: He knew exactly what was happening, he was fully aware that he was battling Yugi to death, but his mind was telling him that winning (and thus, killing him) was the only goal and the right decision, so much that he couldn't control his actions as if his survival instincts were in full charge, all while being aware of it.
This is legit scary compared to the typical "muahahaha, I am the evil villain of the story and this minion is my puppet, I talk through him, FEAR ME!" shit.
That last bit sounds like something out of Yugioh the Abridged series. Lol

It's in a different continuity but the continuity Yugioh Duel Monsters is in is also the same continuity that gx is in - and gx season 4 unretcons a bit of season 0 in a blink and you'll miss it moment by confirming that characters like miho, that guy with the shock-guessing game that was one of kaiba's game masters, ushio, and risa (one of the witch triplets in that one season 0 filler episode where they poisoned yugi and gaslit tea) all existed and were duelists in domino that darkness (through trueman) killed temporarily.
So thanks to gx, you can generally treat everything in season 0 that ISN'T redone (shadi going into yugi's mind, kaiba vs yugi, tea's workplace episode, etc etc) *probably* happened, with some canonical alterations like miho not being part of the main group in the DM-Arc V continuity's version of events.
Yeah I was expecting he would talk about his life in season 0 and the manga explaining more of how his friendship with Joey and Tristan came in and team's obsession with yami yugi. There's so much explains better.

The Noah Arc has nothing to do with Yugi or his characters. It was about mainly Kaiba
Plus its mainly atem in that arc
Probably because Virtual World was about Kaiba mainly and Orichalcos was about Atem sorta...I felt like they didn't grow all that much. That and you could skip those two arcs and you wouldn't miss anything really. They just seemed to be to stretch the seasons out. Plus most of the Orichalcos arc Yugi is trapped, hence why I said there really isn't much development among the characters in that arc.

That was also about Kaiba mainly but was also just filler to drag until we reached the most important part of the entire show. As I recall the manga was just about Duelist Kingdom, Battle City and The Pharoah's Memories, that was all. I feel like the Noah Arc was the biggest offender. Who just interrupts a very vital and potentially world ending tournament like that? Could they not have had that arc after Battle City like they did with the Dungeon Dice Monsters Arc? I guess they did it cuz they were heading to an island that Gozaboro owned blah blah. We don't need our life threatening tournament interrupted by daddy and stepbrother issues

As far as I recall, we never saw Yugi's mother nor was she mentioned in any of the episodes or movies.
She appeared in one episode but they cut it out in the 4Kids dub
She really contributed nothing. She's not even mentioned outside of her one appearance in the sub so her being cut had no real consequence.
You could see her briefly in the episode where you meet Rebecca. When grandpa is leaving the hospital, she's standing next to him.

Honestly I am sad that they missed out Death-T and the other arcs from the first seven volumes in the manga. Cause right now the “life of Yugi Muto” isn’t fully shown. Only focusing on Duelist Kingdom and not prior, which is the actual beginning of Yugi’s character.
i just realised yugi giving winged kuriboh to judai wasnt just because he was feeling it, he met future judai and saw him using the card and so when he met him years later he gives him the card knowing this was meant to be

I have almost never watched Yu Gi Oh (original) i watched PD and GX but never the first one i know Kazuki Takahashi passed away on 4th of july, rest in piece, but i still watched this and i brought some memories back and i never knew that there was a movie or episode in which all 3 of them were together, thats actually what i imagined most of my life, i feel sad tho that i didnt watch it before mr. Kazuki passed away. Thanks for making the video (i know i am late ;-;)

Was interesting to learn that, in the anime, Yugi put the Puzzle back together after Keith's duel. I didn't watch a whole lot of the anime, and I knew that in the manga Yugi put together the Puzzle after playing Dice Monsters.

I started watching Yu-Gi-Oh and when Yami Bakura and yami yugi shadow Battle and saw the real yugi as the dark magician my heart melted he looks adorable when he's the dark magician.
...I thought it was Yugi Moto. Now I think of Motto Motto when I say that.

Yugi's deck is famous for his dark magician with a variety and balance of earth and dark attribute monsters which he supplement with spell cards to perform effective combos his deck had exzodia 5 card fragments that he use to defeat Kaiba but weavel threw them overboard yugi has the support cards for the dark magician yugi hosted red eyes black Dragon that he won from a rare hunter he debut his magnet warriors, royal knights and the magician girls as his deck evolves he is equipped with the Egyptian God cards sliffer the sky dragon, obilisk the tormentor and the winged Dragon of ra he built his own deck with toy monster themed cards like blockman and the gadgets and monsters with levels to grow stronger as silent swordsman and silent magician the deck contains the strength yugi has without the help from atem as well as his playful side as a result he never used the dark magician and the related cards leaving them for atem for the ceremonial duel.
