Actually in the original, before 4Kids took over, Haga (Weevil) told Atem that Yugi’s soul was locked in the card, so when he ripped it up Atem though Haga killed Yugi on the spot
And in response, Yami tells Haga "Wash your neck and wait", a line given to people awaiting execution. Beating the piss out of Haga wasn't enough --- he wanted bug-boy DEAD.

Yuya's darker side was always the scariest version for me. Normally he acts the loveable goof that just wants the public to enjoy his dueltaining but then as the line is pushed and his beliefs were strained he turned into a duelist who doesnt stop once the opponents life points pool is empty. They have to be send to be obliterated and send to the hospital... I know thats not much different from the other charathers who had these moments but yuya just leaves it mark so well in my opinion..
I dunno, man. It feels more natural to Yuya because he is not naturally goofy, he is playing the role of an entertainer and feels pretty down inside and it isn't really a stretch to go from that to rage. Basically, he was always emotionally unstable. Compare to Judai, who was basically a cheerful child in a teenager's body. Him snapping means a lot more
@@toony1232 which is why it's scarier imo. Yuya bottles up his emotions by hiding behind his goggles and try to entertain other people and of course there's also Yuzu and Yuto. Once Yuzu got kidnapped, his tendency to hide his emotions started to worsen. Yuzu and Yuto are the only person to either stop him from snapping or calm him down after going berserk. In his duel vs Serena, the 2 people who can ease his emotions are either kidnapped or knocked out. All of those bottled up emotions exploded, leading to the most savage beatdown in all of YGO. Jaden's decent to madness is slow and almost clinical while Yuya's is sudden and explosive. Which only got worse the more of his dimensional counterparts he's fused with especially Yuri.

@@arthurdias6860 for what i understood, Z-ONE- was a scientific who know the "legend" of Yusei and with technology turn himself on a copy of Yusei body and mind, but still having his own mind. That way he would have had chance to save the people in the future. But things didn't go well and ended with that plan to detroy the synchro summon and all that thing that happens in the anime.
In the japanese dub, the card that Weevil ripped was claimed to be the one that held Yugi's soul. So he literally claimed that he killed Yugi forever, not just ripped a card that could save Yugi.
I get the psychological warfare approach... But considering how many times they had clashed, you'd think he would know better than to do something that stupid to Yami

Technically four times if you count the opening episodes for Yu-Gi-Oh where it shows him dueling Rex raptor then it's to duel Yugi at Duel Kingdom. Then he goes on and Battle City to duel Joey. The final duel is the orichalcos duel on top of the train. Where funny enough they actually leave his body on top of the train when it falls off the cliff and he dies, they just never address this
Jaden tried to kill someone with a real-life Neo's outside of the duel, and he wasn't controlled by his evil self anymore. I feel like this isn't talked about enough.
Not surprising considering the fact that Atem killed most of his enemies mercilessly in the original manga. And if he didn't kill one he'd drive them insane with the only exceptions being Kaiba and that half Indian celebrity.

I think Berserker Soul deserves the #1 spot for all time. You have to understand that the power of the Millennium Puzzle allows one to alter fate. That means that no matter what, Yami would keep drawing Monster Cards, until there were none left in his deck because that's the nature of his rage.
Technically, you can also count #1 for the same reason because the Yu-boys can create/change cards from out of fucking nowhere. #2 and #1 just have different execution of overkills.

I think the reason why it was so evil of yugi to sacrifice his monsters was because under the orichalcos the souls of the real monsters are linked to the cards therefore they felt real pain when he did that so in duelist kingdom they were just holograms unless it was like a shadow duel. Also should be noted that each time breaker hit with his sword it was REALLY hitting weevil also because of the orichalcos haha
I just like the fact that the Magicians had "forsaken" Yami until he actually made up with them. The older part of me sees that as painfully stupid, but that part of me that thinks that Yu-Gi-Oh's awesome, is just... still living that moment. "Yeah, you'd BETTER apologize, Pharaoh, they got you through SO many duels!"
Here's a fun little fact, those five extra times Yami attacked Weevil. It was for every single piece of Exodia Weevil threw into the sea back in Duelist Kingdom.
Well the thing that makes this so brutal is the fact that Atem basically has the power to manifest what he needs from his deck at any time (yes it's op bullshit magic) so he wanted to hurt Weevil so bad that he put all his bullshit magic into getting the cards that would wreck his face the most
Yugi's overkill is even more savage when you realize that the Pharoah can will any card to the top of his deck. So in his blind rage, Atem kept subconsciously willing monster cards to the top to overkill Weevil.
if Tea hadn't stopped Phraoah it literally would have been a draw despite weevil having zero life points because yugi's deck would run out of cards (theres no way heart of the cards would allow a magic/trap card to continue existing)

The reason I saw Atem as a dark side in that episode wasn't because he sacrifices his monsters, it's because he does it AFTER learning that the Orichalcos makes the monsters REAL living beings. Meaning it's sacrificing living beings who are supposed to be his friends and allies. And the insults don't help either.
I love the Abridged dialogue right after Weevil tears that card. "You know, if Yugi were here, he could have stopped me." "From what?" "From doing this." Proceed to ass-kicking, do not pass go.
5ds is my favorite series by far, but because Yusei is so calm and collected we never really got an overkill moment from him. That said, “THERE IS NO NEXT TURN” gave me chills when I first saw it, and that’s saying a lot for a Yugioh dub.
Regarding 15:17 : There was also a similar moment in 5Ds where Yusei literally destroyed Placido by pulling 5 tuner monsters, allowing his newly summoned Shooting Star Dragon to attack 5 times in a row
I remember Carly's death in the dub. I was honestly surprised since Id never seen someone die in the show before. Usually their was some magical excuse. But she very platantly fell to the pavement. All the fog did was make it look like the city was extra grimy, so itd take a while to find her body.
For real, even in the dub it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion, because it’s clear Carly is far out of her depth but like…I don’t think anyone could’ve expected her to get blasted out of a skyscraper to fall to her death I know a lot of people find the Dark Signers a little cheesy but that moment with Carly and Misty really, really stood out to me and showed that they weren’t just cartoonishly evil, they were vulnerable people that desperately needed a way out of their current situations-even if the way out was giving themselves over to a dark power
In the sub version of Zane's duel vs Mad Dog (not only did Mad Dog have a proper voice), but the stakes were higher. The guy standing outside the cage in the cloak made it clear to Zane that if he lost this duel he would die. That is when Zane snapped and began to turn things around. There was no time for respecting his opponent because life or death was on the line. It was him or Mad Dog.
Atem is still my favorite moment of all time because of how twisted it was. Knowing Weevil could feel every last bit of pain thrown at him, Atem went and twisted reality once again for his favor in order to torture Weevil for a petty joke. It was the first time a character in the series went above and out of his way to kill his opponent in the most insulting way he could think of. He didn't just end the duel, Atem dealt 11300 points of damage *PAST* Zero. That's what happens when you piss off a God in human form

uhhh... theres big reason for it..... essentualy the 4 yu bois in ark v all have a darkness factor from zarc and yuya is the only one who has some sembalance of light that keeps his head out of the dark side of things being his enternaining spirit also he gaines the darkness of the xyz dimension counterpart so the times he does fall to darkess is twice as bad since it takes alot more effort to resist it
Yuya seems just like Jaden. Both are optimistic carefree goofballs who want to duel for fun but are surrounded by people who don't share that belief, leap across dimensions to save someone special (Zuzu and Jesse) and after losing a lot of friends during their rescue missions, they are consumed by darkness.

They both got sent to the facility where they met a former pro duelist who was sent there in disgrace (Chojiro and Tanner), at first those pros were big bullies but something positive and fun clicked inside them thanks to the protagonists and after their duels, became friends with them.

I’m pretty sure one of atems powers is to influence fate (as seen in the final duel as a main example and the fact he always gets the card he needs). Therefore he would always be drawing a monster card from his deck until he ran out
Yuya's overkill win with Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon proves the rule, don't mess with those that have a gentle soul cuz they ain't weak. But push the wrong button and you awaken a force unlike any other.
I love the over kill moment in season 0 when Yami Yugi plays a shadow game of pretty much poker against one of little Yugis bully’s and essentially cheats to win and send said bully to the shadow realm

My favorite part of the dub of Yami vs Weevil is the translators let his VA add some flavor to the draws: "Oh, look, another Monster" and "This just isn't your day"

Looking at his tone and lines, it was obvious he only saw Weevil as an actual insect, and as a result, just keept hammerimg in attack after attack, pretending it was just a normal duel, while quite possibly severely wounding Weevil. So in a way, it IS showing his brutal side, but Not out of anger, rather out of sadistic joy in punishing someone.
Every time Yuya goes Berserk is why I love Arc-V so much. I totally agree about Yuya vs Sarina and Lulu is one of my top 3 overkill moments. It was insane how imposing Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon was from the moment it appeared on the field to its amazing final jaw dropping attack. Watching Atem go berserk on Weevil was just heartbreaking for me. Not to mention that because it was an Orichalcos duel all the attacks were REAL making what Atem did ever more devastating, but the overkill moment that utterly terrifies me was Dark Yuma. Seeing Yuma turn into a complete masochistic and sociopath was completely sad, scary, and heartbreaking. All while having such twisted looks of joy on his face are just downright disturbing and part of the reason this was the most insane overkill moment in Yugioh for me
The #1 moment is the reason I keep working through the series a few seasons a year. When I first watched this video I had just finished the waking the dragons arc. Now I'm halfway through 5Ds and life keeps getting in the way but imma do it one day. I want to see Yuya kick some ass.
Yugi was just following the rules. according to the wiki: This card's damaging effect is worded as the resolution of a single effect, so by the game rules at the time of this card's release, a player could (and indeed was required to) continue to draw cards and damage their opponent even after their LP had already become 0.
For #2 I just remembered. The Seal of Orichalcos made the monsters real. So I guess in essence, he was killing them off with Catapult Turtle as opposed to the previous instance when they were simply holograms.

The reason Atem's sacrifices against Rafael are so wrong is because, under the influence of the Orichalchos, the monsters in play are actually alive, linked to the Monster Realm.
I think at least Dark Magician is always “alive” as Mahad every time the Pharaoh summons him. He shows a lot of actual personality the other monsters just don’t, especially in Duelist Kingdom.
Most of Atem’s friends are linked to him when he summons them. For instance, Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl always seem to recognize who he is, even though he is still trying to find his way back.
The thing that makes Yugi Vs Weevil so OP is that he doesn't even look at his cards when draws therefore showing he has the ability to draw what he needs

Remember in 5Ds when Yusei was dueling the Spider Dark Signer and Martha’s spirit got sucked into the Earthbound Immortal, I remember getting chills with how pissed off Yusei got... Yusei: “YOU’RE GONNA PAY FOR THIS!” That moment gets me every time, his voice gets rougher along with his facial expression, he’s just so angry! I don’t recall an overkill in the duel, but if you want to see Yusei at probably one of his darkest points, check out the 5Ds episode... “Mark of the Spider: Pt 2”

And considering Yusei had to not only watch the woman who is effectively his adopted mother die but then was forced to battle Rally, one of his only friends, who sacrificed his life because he saw that Yusei couldn't bear to fight him. It's a wonder Yusei kept his cool anytime he fought the dark signers.

My favorite thing about Jaden giving up and going crazy. When he comes back to his senses after becoming the supreme king, he still doesn’t enjoy dueling for fun. Until the tag duel with Alexis.
He actually became so much colder that Judai doesn’t even care if he has to hurt people to win duels now. Which was exactly what happened during that tag duel with Asuka. He was brutal and showed NO MERCY at all to the other team. He wiped out their LPs in a single turn. Holy shi! Didn’t think I’d ever see my favorite character do something like THAT 😬
Something I noticed about the duel in #10 is that all of those big monsters are ace monsters from GX. The Dragon Cannon is pre character development Manjoume's ace fusion, Ojama King is Manjoume's current ace, the Vehicroids is just Sho's entire thing (except for that time he used the Cyberdark deck), Master of Oz is Hayato's ace, and I find this to be neat, even if it is a coincidence.

I want a scene where the boss monster takes down the opponent ending the duel, but keeps bashing them after it. Not like a shadow duel but how Akiza is able to deal real damage with her Dragon.

It’s definitely intimidating. I was a gentle pushover for most of my childhood, but the day I got pushed too far my former tormentors got very afraid. And the funny part is I didn’t even do anything. They just saw the innocent naivety in my eyes replaced with pure rage and lost their shit. One of them even started crying because he thought I was planning to kill them in their sleep that night. (This was at summer camp)

It was like all my buttons were getting hammered. It was a private school that I never went back to. I then went to essentially "control yourself" therapy for a few months. Fortunately, I've grown up and stabilized since then.
Lol I used to always use Future Fusion to send legit all my machine type monsters to summon Chimeratech Overdragon in 2 turns but then I use Overload Fusion to banish all monsters (which are sent to the GY due to Future Fusion) from my GY and summon Chimeratech Overdragon with insane ATK points. 800 multiple 20 to 30 monsters. This also means my Chimeratech Overdragon won't destroy itself for being summoned using Future Fusion since the moment it's destroyed, Overdragon would be as well. I used to always use this combo XD
the scenes were Zane literally would throw away his cards when sacraficing them for Chimeratec always cracked me up because i pictured that moody edgy bastard having to pick them after the duel was over lmao
Honestly though, the Dark Zexal one actually scared the hell out of me, even though it’s still my favorite scene. Man, it was so rare to see a corrupted Yuma going all out of control crazy and attacking recklessly like he’s about to murder someone, and literally did not care at all about the damage he took, (all because he was possessed and his mind was clouded with evil 😈 thoughts) to the point where he had no idea what he was doing besides hurting himself by losing LP. Damn! Man’s was really trying to go for an overkill here cuz if he didn’t, then why would he summon Chimera Cloth and equip it to Hope Ray V giving it a total of 83200 atk 😬 before all that craziness was over so yeah! Seeing this was new cuz unlike most other protagonists of Yu-Gi-Oh, Yuma doesn’t actually HAVE darkness in him. This was just him being affected by Astral’s darkness cuz they shared 1 body

As for Yuya, well, it was hinted way since the beginning that Yuya had darkness in him. We just weren’t sure what type of darkness and who it was. So yeah
That number 5 scene felt so satisfying exactly due to the contrast of the so far established Jaden, and it feels great to see that the dark king kinda gets incorporated into his personality even when he returns to being a good guy. It's a proper character growth

And in response, Yami tells Haga "Wash your neck and wait", a line given to people awaiting execution.
Beating the piss out of Haga wasn't enough --- he wanted bug-boy DEAD.

Yuya's darker side was always the scariest version for me.
Normally he acts the loveable goof that just wants the public to enjoy his dueltaining but then as the line is pushed and his beliefs were strained he turned into a duelist who doesnt stop once the opponents life points pool is empty. They have to be send to be obliterated and send to the hospital... I know thats not much different from the other charathers who had these moments but yuya just leaves it mark so well in my opinion..

It feels more natural to Yuya because he is not naturally goofy, he is playing the role of an entertainer and feels pretty down inside and it isn't really a stretch to go from that to rage. Basically, he was always emotionally unstable. Compare to Judai, who was basically a cheerful child in a teenager's body. Him snapping means a lot more
Yeah but at least with exception of Yuri and zarc the rest didn't do it with dragons capable of destroying the world

@@toony1232 which is why it's scarier imo. Yuya bottles up his emotions by hiding behind his goggles and try to entertain other people and of course there's also Yuzu and Yuto. Once Yuzu got kidnapped, his tendency to hide his emotions started to worsen. Yuzu and Yuto are the only person to either stop him from snapping or calm him down after going berserk. In his duel vs Serena, the 2 people who can ease his emotions are either kidnapped or knocked out. All of those bottled up emotions exploded, leading to the most savage beatdown in all of YGO. Jaden's decent to madness is slow and almost clinical while Yuya's is sudden and explosive. Which only got worse the more of his dimensional counterparts he's fused with especially Yuri.

Technically four times if you count the opening episodes for Yu-Gi-Oh where it shows him dueling Rex raptor then it's to duel Yugi at Duel Kingdom. Then he goes on and Battle City to duel Joey. The final duel is the orichalcos duel on top of the train. Where funny enough they actually leave his body on top of the train when it falls off the cliff and he dies, they just never address this

I think Berserker Soul deserves the #1 spot for all time. You have to understand that the power of the Millennium Puzzle allows one to alter fate. That means that no matter what, Yami would keep drawing Monster Cards, until there were none left in his deck because that's the nature of his rage.
Technically, you can also count #1 for the same reason because the Yu-boys can create/change cards from out of fucking nowhere. #2 and #1 just have different execution of overkills.

I think the reason why it was so evil of yugi to sacrifice his monsters was because under the orichalcos the souls of the real monsters are linked to the cards therefore they felt real pain when he did that so in duelist kingdom they were just holograms unless it was like a shadow duel. Also should be noted that each time breaker hit with his sword it was REALLY hitting weevil also because of the orichalcos haha

The reason I saw Atem as a dark side in that episode wasn't because he sacrifices his monsters, it's because he does it AFTER learning that the Orichalcos makes the monsters REAL living beings. Meaning it's sacrificing living beings who are supposed to be his friends and allies. And the insults don't help either.

I remember Carly's death in the dub. I was honestly surprised since Id never seen someone die in the show before. Usually their was some magical excuse. But she very platantly fell to the pavement. All the fog did was make it look like the city was extra grimy, so itd take a while to find her body.
For real, even in the dub it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion, because it’s clear Carly is far out of her depth but like…I don’t think anyone could’ve expected her to get blasted out of a skyscraper to fall to her death
I know a lot of people find the Dark Signers a little cheesy but that moment with Carly and Misty really, really stood out to me and showed that they weren’t just cartoonishly evil, they were vulnerable people that desperately needed a way out of their current situations-even if the way out was giving themselves over to a dark power
In the sub version of Zane's duel vs Mad Dog (not only did Mad Dog have a proper voice), but the stakes were higher. The guy standing outside the cage in the cloak made it clear to Zane that if he lost this duel he would die. That is when Zane snapped and began to turn things around. There was no time for respecting his opponent because life or death was on the line. It was him or Mad Dog.
i liked mad dogs voice too it fit for the occasion. it needed to be as annoying as possible to *really* push zane over the edge and they nailed that

Knowing Weevil could feel every last bit of pain thrown at him, Atem went and twisted reality once again for his favor in order to torture Weevil for a petty joke. It was the first time a character in the series went above and out of his way to kill his opponent in the most insulting way he could think of. He didn't just end the duel, Atem dealt 11300 points of damage *PAST* Zero. That's what happens when you piss off a God in human form

Both are optimistic carefree goofballs who want to duel for fun but are surrounded by people who don't share that belief, leap across dimensions to save someone special (Zuzu and Jesse) and after losing a lot of friends during their rescue missions, they are consumed by darkness.

I’m pretty sure one of atems powers is to influence fate (as seen in the final duel as a main example and the fact he always gets the card he needs). Therefore he would always be drawing a monster card from his deck until he ran out
Yuya's overkill win with Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon proves the rule, don't mess with those that have a gentle soul cuz they ain't weak. But push the wrong button and you awaken a force unlike any other.

Looking at his tone and lines, it was obvious he only saw Weevil as an actual insect, and as a result, just keept hammerimg in attack after attack, pretending it was just a normal duel, while quite possibly severely wounding Weevil.
So in a way, it IS showing his brutal side, but Not out of anger, rather out of sadistic joy in punishing someone.
For #2 i prefer the taunting that atem uses when drawing the cards, especially when he tells weevil "this just isnt your day"
Every time Yuya goes Berserk is why I love Arc-V so much. I totally agree about Yuya vs Sarina and Lulu is one of my top 3 overkill moments. It was insane how imposing Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon was from the moment it appeared on the field to its amazing final jaw dropping attack. Watching Atem go berserk on Weevil was just heartbreaking for me. Not to mention that because it was an Orichalcos duel all the attacks were REAL making what Atem did ever more devastating, but the overkill moment that utterly terrifies me was Dark Yuma. Seeing Yuma turn into a complete masochistic and sociopath was completely sad, scary, and heartbreaking. All while having such twisted looks of joy on his face are just downright disturbing and part of the reason this was the most insane overkill moment in Yugioh for me

I think at least Dark Magician is always “alive” as Mahad every time the Pharaoh summons him. He shows a lot of actual personality the other monsters just don’t, especially in Duelist Kingdom.
Most of Atem’s friends are linked to him when he summons them. For instance, Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl always seem to recognize who he is, even though he is still trying to find his way back.
By that logic, Catpult Turtle should forever be banned....... lol Bah, Atem just sent his soldiers for victory though

Yeah, I remember that! And considering Yusei had to not only watch the woman who is effectively his adopted mother die but then was forced to battle Rally, one of his only friends, who sacrificed his life because he saw that Yusei couldn't bear to fight him.
It's a wonder Yusei kept his cool anytime he fought the dark signers.
I'd say 5Ds had the best story out of all yugioh.

My favorite thing about Jaden giving up and going crazy. When he comes back to his senses after becoming the supreme king, he still doesn’t enjoy dueling for fun. Until the tag duel with Alexis.

He actually became so much colder that Judai doesn’t even care if he has to hurt people to win duels now. Which was exactly what happened during that tag duel with Asuka. He was brutal and showed NO MERCY at all to the other team. He wiped out their LPs in a single turn. Holy shi! Didn’t think I’d ever see my favorite character do something like THAT 😬
Something I noticed about the duel in #10 is that all of those big monsters are ace monsters from GX. The Dragon Cannon is pre character development Manjoume's ace fusion, Ojama King is Manjoume's current ace, the Vehicroids is just Sho's entire thing (except for that time he used the Cyberdark deck), Master of Oz is Hayato's ace, and I find this to be neat, even if it is a coincidence.

I know this isn't about the video anymore, but I have to say I like this quote. Do not underestimate the anger of a gentle soul who has had enough. The good thing is that because gentle souls don't want to hurt people, they can usually take a lot of crap before enough is enough. But when they _have_ had enough, look out!
It’s definitely intimidating. I was a gentle pushover for most of my childhood, but the day I got pushed too far my former tormentors got very afraid. And the funny part is I didn’t even do anything. They just saw the innocent naivety in my eyes replaced with pure rage and lost their shit. One of them even started crying because he thought I was planning to kill them in their sleep that night. (This was at summer camp)

Fortunately, I've grown up and stabilized since then.

Zane is probably the only character that has the consistency overkill record.
Lol I used to always use Future Fusion to send legit all my machine type monsters to summon Chimeratech Overdragon in 2 turns but then I use Overload Fusion to banish all monsters (which are sent to the GY due to Future Fusion) from my GY and summon Chimeratech Overdragon with insane ATK points. 800 multiple 20 to 30 monsters. This also means my Chimeratech Overdragon won't destroy itself for being summoned using Future Fusion since the moment it's destroyed, Overdragon would be as well.
I used to always use this combo XD

Honestly though, the Dark Zexal one actually scared the hell out of me, even though it’s still my favorite scene. Man, it was so rare to see a corrupted Yuma going all out of control crazy and attacking recklessly like he’s about to murder someone, and literally did not care at all about the damage he took, (all because he was possessed and his mind was clouded with evil 😈 thoughts) to the point where he had no idea what he was doing besides hurting himself by losing LP. Damn! Man’s was really trying to go for an overkill here cuz if he didn’t, then why would he summon Chimera Cloth and equip it to Hope Ray V giving it a total of 83200 atk 😬 before all that craziness was over so yeah! Seeing this was new cuz unlike most other protagonists of Yu-Gi-Oh, Yuma doesn’t actually HAVE darkness in him. This was just him being affected by Astral’s darkness cuz they shared 1 body

As for Yuya, well, it was hinted way since the beginning that Yuya had darkness in him. We just weren’t sure what type of darkness and who it was. So yeah
The Weevil overkill is so iconic. That moment never gets old at all. lol
That number 5 scene felt so satisfying exactly due to the contrast of the so far established Jaden, and it feels great to see that the dark king kinda gets incorporated into his personality even when he returns to being a good guy. It's a proper character growth
