The filler tournament should have been a final between Mai and Joey ending up in a tie or something of the sort. With Kaiba going on to focus on the development of the game and leaving behind his competitive days and Yugi retiring from Duel Monsters and going on to create new games of his own, this would have been a passing of the torch moment for Mai and Joey, signifying that they would one day soon become the two best duelists in the world.
Mai watched the tournament and shows up in the Japanese-only credits where she and Vivian team up against the Paradox Brothers on the Great Wall of China.
It would have been cool to have Mai defeat someone with a name on screen for once. But, since they didn't have any new Harpies or Amazonesses to show off that season, they wrote her out of the story. Yu-Gi-Oh still means so much to me as an almost 30 year old man today. Nothing can match what I felt as a kid from playing the old YGO games and especially the obsession I had with the cards I wanted as a kid! Glad I had a chance to play YGO with my friends back in Maryland when I was younger, although I still burn to have 1 final match with them.
Late Takahashi sensei is a genius. Still remember how excited i was when reading the last arc where they basically playing shadow games RPG, multiple twists and also all bunch of new cool monsters like gadgets, marshmallon, silents and gandora in Yugi arsenals. Seriously i hope we can see more of Yugi dueling with those cards. Bond beyond time is just a good fan service but they could've done more , like it needs to show Yugi's reaction about the tuner and synchro cards . Darkside of dimensions is when anime movie done right. It's such a feast to the eyes. Great graphics, colours, storyline, and characters. And Atem's desdend cameo in a short scene without saying anything, draw and special summon without looking at the card are enough to bring out the epicness of that movie
I firmly believe Yu-Gi-Oh needs the Kai treatment. I would LOVE to see a new anime that is a much more direct and accurate adaptation of the original manga.
Dunno. I feel it's better to leave well alone out of respect for the late Takahashi. And I don't really want another half-baked trainwreck of a cashgrab, like a certain Magical Girl series recieved... If you want the manga storyline, you're probably better off just reading it anyway.

Can we talk about Kaiba building a space station and then robbing a grave to get the puzzle and then invading Egyptian heaven just to get the salty run back against the Pharoah.
My headcanon with Yami Bakura leaving his duel with Kaiba prematurely will always be that he has a plane to catch to get to Egypt early that morning and needs to get going before he misses it.
Merry Christmas Jordan. Thanks to your part series I get to recall fondly on og Yu-Gi-Oh for the holiday break haha. Such a phenomenonal series and well thought out piece.
Thanks! for helping me relive, one of my favorite TV shows from my childhood :-) PS I really loved the sections of the show where they were in the virtual world. It was like watching someone play a video game, which, as we all know is one of the greatest forms of entertainment :-)
Thank you for this wonderful nostalgia trip! I didn't follow GX or 5Ds (or the others) like I did the original, but I would love to see a follow-up series of videos covering them if you're up for the task! Always enjoy your content, and looking forward to more. Merry Fringemas!
I was a kid when this show and game came out. I lived in the country so having people to play with was almost not an option. But when I moved from where I used to live, I met my best friend who also played. We would play together occasionally and it was the first time I had really gotten to play. I loved the game so much, and when I got older I realized I loved card games in general. To this day it's my favorite form of gaming, even about video games. And this show and game gave that to me.
Merry Fringemas! Thanks for this video series! Season 5 is a wild ride, and the series conclusion is really emotional. The funny thing about the Capsule Monsters arc showing some similarities to Pokémon, is that before taking the name of Pokémon/Pocket Monsters, the concept for the first Pokémon games went under the working title of Capumon/Capsule Monsters.
Yugioh was huge in my childhood as well, was obsessed with it to extremes. Played the card game all the time and was invited to nationals 3 times back around 5Ds era. And since then I have strayed away from the card game in favor of Magic, but it has always had a huge place in my heart. Especially from beginning to 5Ds. Always love going back to relive some of it, or watch certain series about it. Progression Series, YGO the Abridged series etc. All have kept my love for the anime and even the card game back then alive even when I invest myself to MTG. Love all the work you put into your videos, especially reliving childhood memories in this series. Thank you!
This was such an epic trip down memory lane…. Now I wanna go watch over all my fav seasons. I absolutely LOVED Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid and now that I’m older I appreciate it even more. For me the OG series is the best…I barely even watched the others , and I have the cards for collection purposes… I don’t play the game… it was so lovely to see a fav anime be given such love and attention. Great job Jordan!
Thank you for this trip down memory lane, you absolute legend. THIS, as well as the rst of the big five (pokemon, yugioh, dragon ball z, digimon, & beyblade respectively) were all a big part of my childhood. And even though my love for pokemon reached far beyond kanto..all the way to Alola, Yu-Gi-Oh duel monsters will always be my fav (and only fav) despite the other seasons. Ive rewatched it SO many times and it was a BIG part of my life growing up, & I can remember falling in love with the 1st movie 'Pyramid of Light' and STILL to this day IMHO think its the best and even the best looking YGO movie out there. I even love the game for GBA Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards and even have it in my list of 'top 5 favorite games of all time' just because i love it so much, & i truly believe my passion for YGO Duel Monsters is a big reason for that. I mean, I even went out of my way to buy a vintage Battle City duel disk, the duelist kingdom dueling Gauntlet, and i even have some replica Duelist Kingdom Invitation Cards, as well as a millinium puzzle hanging on my wall. So i think its pretty safe to say that YGO DM as, and will always hold a special place in my heart, so ty and ty/rip Mr. Takahashi

BROOOO THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I AM A DAY BEHIND WATCHING ALL OF THESE. So when I finished the first episode, the 2nd was out already. Then I didn’t get to ep 3 until the next day and then ep 4 was out!
Kaiba spending all his R&D money in order to face Yami Yugi again in the past for a duel is one of my favorite parts of that character. He literally spent years and millions of dollars just for the salty runback because he can't accept that he's not the best at a card game.
I really loved the Yami and Leon duel where they work together to defeat an impossible card. Theres nothing better then beating a hacker with the rules of the games.
Yu-Gi-Oh season 5 , bonds beyond time & Dark side of dimensions. Merry Christmas Jordan and love your videos on. Yu-Gi-Oh Pokemon gen 1-9 and bakugan etc
“You’ve ever desired a salty runback so bad that you break the laws of reality, and invent a way into the afterlife?Oh just me? Well that’s cause you’re not Seto Kaiba”
"Bonds Beyond Time" embodied the thing that I learned from being involved in Yugioh: that even something as simple as "a children's card game" creates relationships that are greater than anyone could ever realize. That true friendship, forged in the fire of friendly competition, is a bond that exists beyond the bounds of time. Cheesy? Yes. True? Absolutely.
Yu-Gi-Oh has always been something that brought me a lot of happiness because I had just moved from Maryland to South Carolina to North Carolina and I didn't have any friends and then someone told me that I should be friends with them and then they introduced me to Yu-Gi-Oh and they gave me my first cards which were some red eyes stuff it was still back in the day so it's not like it was anything modern at all but I still play that deck to this day and I will always cherish those moments
Thank you for making this series, Jordan! Yu-Gi-Oh was a huge part of my childhood and every once in a while, I find myself going back to it. Although the anime is wacky as hell, I loved Yugi and Atem's story. It was so ANIME.
This was such a nice series, I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time and it was everything I expected and more, your commentary and passion for this property and my childhood is so encouraging and invigorating, thank you
THis video came out on such a good time this week I recently went back into looking at yugioh and your video is a nice refresher/understanding of the series. Thank you!
I'm still shocked that, with Dark Side of Dimensions, the canonical ending of Yu-Gi-Oh! is essentially Kaiba taking his own life so that he can be reunited with Atem.
Easily the best season. The filler was so fun when I was watching this as it aired. The new cards and characters were so cool, the art style looked next level above everything else, and the inclusion of Capsule Monsters was a fun side arc that gave me more of what I liked about the virual world/rpg arc from season 1. The pharaoh stuff in the second half of this season was compelling to the point I didn’t even mind not seeing traditional duels with some of the darkest material I was surprised even made it through the 4kids sifter. The season even capped off with the greatest finale anyone could have asked for. The cemented, to me, YuGiOh being one of the best shows to watch even to this day. Thanks for going through each season and reliving my childhood with me
I really love Yu-Gi-Oh! and this series really feels like a warm hug in the heart after growing along with the whole franchise and the passing of mr. Takahashi, he really is a hero.

While I've fallen off the card game itself in recent years, (not a fan of how it plays these days), Yugioh has always been a big part of my life and holds a special place in my heart. I have a ton of fond memories of playing it with friends growing up and watching the show. When the finale movie came out in theaters, my best friend and I went out of our way to go see it, and it was a blast and a great sendoff to the original series.
Merry Christmas Fringe. Yu-Gi-Oh! has been a staple in my Life for a long time. When I heard about Takahashi's Death, I immediately went back through my memories of when I got my Starter Deck. Hopef to have met him so that he could sign my Duel Art! Book.
I've been a fan since the first episode I watched. It was during the first virtual world arc that was still being aired that I was introduced to Yugioh and I was immediately hooked from the beginning, so to say I've been a fan for quite some time would be an underestimation. Over 20 years in case anyone reading this is interested. I remember waking up on Saturday for years and tuning in to watch the newest episode or episodes as a kid.
I always wondered if any of Yugi's friends ever noticed when Atem took over Yugi. Yugi is a short, mild-mannered, and high-pitched voice that suddenly goes through puberty right before their eyes. Getting some height, deeper voice, and a more serious attitude. Did they ever find it weird? Lol

Kaiba: Pharaoh! Duel me!
Atem: you…you basically killed yourself just to duel me?
Kaiba: …yeah?
Atem: Gods I missed you, Let’s do this!
And people insist Kaiba is straight...
Dude build a space elevator just to meet a god/ghost and play cards with him.
I’m loving how fast these are coming out!! Can you do GX next?
Yes
Nooo not the 4kids parody 😭
@@fairy__nova ??? Huh?
Ah, Dark Side of Dimensions, the movie about a heartbroken Kaiba asking Yugi to pretend to be Atem while going at it (dueling, of course)
I firmly believe Yu-Gi-Oh needs the Kai treatment. I would LOVE to see a new anime that is a much more direct and accurate adaptation of the original manga.
So no kaiba in millennium world and the final duel.
Dunno. I feel it's better to leave well alone out of respect for the late Takahashi.
And I don't really want another half-baked trainwreck of a cashgrab, like a certain Magical Girl series recieved...
If you want the manga storyline, you're probably better off just reading it anyway.
@@minicle426True true
@@andrewbrown9981as it should be
@@minicle426on one hand you're right, but on the other...man I really want a faithful manga adaptation with season 0 or rather the first movie visual style.
Lmao thats super cute. I love Bakura
Merry Christmas Jordan. Thanks to your part series I get to recall fondly on og Yu-Gi-Oh for the holiday break haha. Such a phenomenonal series and well thought out piece.
Thanks! for helping me relive, one of my favorite TV shows from my childhood :-)
PS I really loved the sections of the show where they were in the virtual world. It was like watching someone play a video game, which, as we all know is one of the greatest forms of entertainment :-)
Thanks so much for watching and for the extra support! I truly appreciate it! I can totally get that and see why you enjoyed it!
I love the Kaiba Corp Grand Prix!
You're a Grand Prix!
-Abridged Joey
I just finished watching parts 1 to 4. Thanks for dropping this with perfect timing for me specifically. Oh and merry Christmas
I love how Kiba just casually has his own spec ops death squad. I dunno the space station is cool but thats just what stood out to me lol
Takahashi
This is the best! Please do GX, and beyond!
Loved the video. Though jordan I feel like you undersold just how badass it was when Kaiba summoned obelisk without holding the card. Pulling it literally from the depths of the earth because Kaiba believes in his own hype that much
Wey here at Wyvern's Nest would like to raise a metaphorical toast to Takahashi-sensei's memory... Wey didn't know he had passed away, and as a hero no less... Rest In Peace, champ... You earned it
BROOOO THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I AM A DAY BEHIND WATCHING ALL OF THESE. So when I finished the first episode, the 2nd was out already. Then I didn’t get to ep 3 until the next day and then ep 4 was out!
Jordan been cookin up some 🔥 this holiday. Back to back bangers this Christmas 🙏🏻
RIP to Takahashi, he'll always be remembered for the things that he created. May he find peace in the afterlife and the next.😢🪦👍
Yes!! He was the king of good 90s-2000s Shonen Jump stories.
Dark Side of Dimension was absolutely amazing I think! I loved every minute of it.
Merry Fringemas and thank you for the big batch of videos over the last couple days. Helped me get through the chaos of the Holidays.
Kaiba spending all his R&D money in order to face Yami Yugi again in the past for a duel is one of my favorite parts of that character. He literally spent years and millions of dollars just for the salty runback because he can't accept that he's not the best at a card game.
Merry Christmas, Jordan. Thanks for all the content this year and to many more
I really loved the Yami and Leon duel where they work together to defeat an impossible card. Theres nothing better then beating a hacker with the rules of the games.
46:26 I do have to say one thing I really liked about the movie was this flashback and how bakura is sorry for everything yami bakura did
First of all, thank you Jordan for your Videos! You single handedly sorted out many of my childhood memories
Kazuki Takahashi went out like a boss. Truly a great man.
I rewatched the series a few years ago and loved it.
Thank you for going through it again.
Thank you for making this series, Jordan! Yu-Gi-Oh was a huge part of my childhood and every once in a while, I find myself going back to it. Although the anime is wacky as hell, I loved Yugi and Atem's story. It was so ANIME.
Merry Christmas Jordan this man really dropped the part 5 & so much more content I can get into
This was such a nice series, I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time and it was everything I expected and more, your commentary and passion for this property and my childhood is so encouraging and invigorating, thank you
Fantastic series. I was never able to finish watching season 1 of Yu Gi oh, so I'm glad I came across these videos explaining the story in detail.
THis video came out on such a good time this week I recently went back into looking at yugioh and your video is a nice refresher/understanding of the series. Thank you!
My friends and I still joke about Kaiba taking a death elevator to space to play against Atem. Seeing it in theaters was wild
I'm still shocked that, with Dark Side of Dimensions, the canonical ending of Yu-Gi-Oh! is essentially Kaiba taking his own life so that he can be reunited with Atem.
Thank you for recap
Thanks for going through each season and reliving my childhood with me
Thanks for the series Jordan, been great watching the last few days. Merry Christmas everyone 👍
I really love Yu-Gi-Oh! and this series really feels like a warm hug in the heart after growing along with the whole franchise and the passing of mr. Takahashi, he really is a hero.
Really enjoyed the videos, the card game was a crucial part of my childhood and up until the point of 5d's it holds a bunch of great memories for me, thanks a lot for all the hard work that went into this, and thanks for creating awesome content.
Tea is my guilty pleasure, especially in the movie. her design is so fine
Unfortunately having to spend Christmas isolated from family due to being really sick, but this series has made it much better to relive a part of my childhood. Merry Christmas Jordan
I loved hearing teh excitment in your voice. This series is one of the very few I feel like have pulled off such a definite ending to a series that's so good. I loved the special movie just for the fun of it, but the other one is one I haven't seen and probably should now. The card game was so much fun too and as much as I love Yusei, Yugi is always gonna be it for me.
Great vids and in the case you're planing to continue talking about yu gi oh, good luck getting through filler duels in gx
Yugioh was a huge part of my childhood so watching this series was a trip for me. Thanks for the good vibes and heres to another year of Jordan Fringe content!
Appreciate all the hard work you did making all these videos. You’re basically like watching the whole series again and it was fun.
Yugioh was real important to me when it first came out. However I aged out of cartoons around battle city. It was nice to be able to explore other parts I have not seen. Please do a GX and 5D series for those of us who would love to know what went down in those series
You “aged out” of cartoons? I’m sad for you man. I feel like you thought that’s what you were supposed to do instead of what you wanted to do
@@thatguymatt5816my case was different instead of aging out I was in my mid teens when Zexal started but I found it more kiddie compared to the 3 before it I only watch the first season of zexal and I tuned out right after
@thatguymatt5816 I did found Utopia cool though
This show was my legit childhood to ILY Merry Christmas
While I've fallen off the card game itself in recent years, (not a fan of how it plays these days), Yugioh has always been a big part of my life and holds a special place in my heart. I have a ton of fond memories of playing it with friends growing up and watching the show. When the finale movie came out in theaters, my best friend and I went out of our way to go see it, and it was a blast and a great sendoff to the original series.
The best xmas gift I could have asked for, a 5 part series deep diving one of my fav series of all time. Thank you Jordan!! Happy Holidays everyone 😭❤
Recaps of my childhood show thanks you.
Even you did the hot wheels.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and everyone
Man this series was a treat. Yugioh will always hold a special place in my heart, the nostalgia is irreplacable
Lol
Just thought he got that dawg in him for card games
Thanks for pumping these out so quickly. Sad the whole series isn’t on netlfix and I lived reliving my childhood here
What a journey, man. Thanks for taking us through the history and lore of Yugioh, you learn something new every part ✌️
Man these last few days of Fringemas has been insane with these long YuGiOh videos. What a banger of a way to end off this years 25 videos (on this channel)
Thank you! Still one final video left
@@JordanFringe94 LFG. I found you last Christmas? Or the Christmas before and have been a huge fan of the channel since
Thank you for this year's double fringemas! Merry Christmas Jordan!
Im sure you put in alot of overtime work to finish the puzzling world of ygo series in time just when the first one went viral. Keep grinding brother! Merry Christmas and may you have a prosperous year!
Omg Fringemas was so good this year! Double Fringemas was a lot, and congrats
Happy holidays Jordan, keep up the great work as usual in the coming year
