Atem's cameo in Dark Side of Dimensions is literally perfect, something about him swooping in right after Yugi declared in his most dire moment that he “still believes in the heart of the cards”’

"Yugi declared in his most dire moment that he “still believes in the heart of the cards”"
That was English dub dialogue. In the original Japanese, Kaiba told Yugi to call Atem so he can beat Dark Aigami. Yugi with his new independence that he's had for 6 months refused to call Atem then as he collapsed, he said "Sorry, everyone" and then Atem, the hero of the series, appears and defeats Dark Aigami. Yugi would rather the world/dimensions be destroyed than to call Atem. So many people do not notice the "poison" that Yugi has. This is Kaiba's movie and even Kaiba with his pride knew that Atem, the hero, was needed to defeat Aigami. That says a lot about Yugi, who is not the hero of the story.

I wish Mai was a part of the last season. She was honestly perhaps one of if not the most real, layered and believable character in the original series. The final season should have given her a redemption arc and proper send-off.
I mean complete filler characters like Vivian, Rebecca, Leon and Siegfried get not one but multiple duels in the final season but Mai doesn’t even get a cameo? The filler tournament should have been a final between Mai and Joey ending up in a tie or something of the sort.
With Kaiba going on to focus on the development of the game and leaving behind his competitive days and Yugi retiring from Duel Monsters and going on to create new games of his own, this would have been a passing of the torch moment for Mai and Joey, signifying that they would one day soon become the two best duelists in the world.

I'm 32 years old still collecting the cards. At first I wasn't allowed to collect the cards or watch the show due to religion and living in a church bound house hold. Later moving in with my mom, I slowly build my collection and in the last 10 years, build a massive collection.
If I can relate to the series, both Yu-Gi, atem, and the show, made me the person I am. Even the 5ds version and it's hero yusei fudo made me what I am today.
When the creator died, part of me died because I believe Yu-Gi-Oh in general saved my life, could of been in or out of jail, could of been dead. When I dealt with break ups from exes, I always jumped back to what made me happy, and it was Yu-Gi-Oh.

Yu-Gi-Oh still means so much to me as an almost 30 year old man today. Nothing can match what I felt as a kid from playing the old YGO games and especially the obsession I had with the cards I wanted as a kid! Glad I had a chance to play YGO with my friends back in Maryland when I was younger, although I still burn to have 1 final match with them.

I was a kid when this show and game came out. I lived in the country so having people to play with was almost not an option. But when I moved from where I used to live, I met my best friend who also played. We would play together occasionally and it was the first time I had really gotten to play. I loved the game so much, and when I got older I realized I loved card games in general. To this day it's my favorite form of gaming, even about video games. And this show and game gave that to me.

As emotional and heartfelt as the last movie was, everything got eclipsed by that ending. I almost joined Kaiba in Heaven from almost dying of laughter. My man literally killed himself to go to a specific version of Heaven JUST to duel this man! 😂😂😂😂 That shit broke me and I couldn’t stop laughing for how deep this children’s card game runs for him. He literally left his like…10 year old brother in charge of a multibillion dollar company just so he could more than likely LOSE another match against a dead guy who went to heaven and found peace nshit. Like come on man, you can’t make this shit up 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Shit still puts me in stitches. But when Pharaoh came back in was in tears. Was happy to see him back. Even for a second. It was all I needed. Especially cuz I actually thought he wasn’t gonna show back up honestly. Fun time all in all as a true finale to the original YuGiOh story. Final arc was so damn good. I remember reading it in those Shonen Jump magazines before it even aired. That was a wild time man.

Yu-Gi-Oh has always been something that brought me a lot of happiness because I had just moved from Maryland to South Carolina to North Carolina and I didn't have any friends and then someone told me that I should be friends with them and then they introduced me to Yu-Gi-Oh and they gave me my first cards which were some red eyes stuff it was still back in the day so it's not like it was anything modern at all but I still play that deck to this day and I will always cherish those moments

Easily the best season. The filler was so fun when I was watching this as it aired. The new cards and characters were so cool, the art style looked next level above everything else, and the inclusion of Capsule Monsters was a fun side arc that gave me more of what I liked about the virual world/rpg arc from season 1. The pharaoh stuff in the second half of this season was compelling to the point I didn’t even mind not seeing traditional duels with some of the darkest material I was surprised even made it through the 4kids sifter. The season even capped off with the greatest finale anyone could have asked for. The cemented, to me, YuGiOh being one of the best shows to watch even to this day. Thanks for going through each season and reliving my childhood with me

Season 5 is a wild ride, and the series conclusion is really emotional. The funny thing about the Capsule Monsters arc showing some similarities to Pokémon, is that before taking the name of Pokémon/Pocket Monsters, the concept for the first Pokémon games went under the working title of Capumon/Capsule Monsters.

Yugioh for me is my childhood. I remember even starting to play it in Kindergarten and opening packs whenever I got some. Yugioh was huge in my childhood as well, was obsessed with it to extremes. Played the card game all the time and was invited to nationals 3 times back around 5Ds era. And since then I have strayed away from the card game in favor of Magic, but it has always had a huge place in my heart. Especially from beginning to 5Ds. Always love going back to relive some of it, or watch certain series about it. Progression Series, YGO the Abridged series etc. All have kept my love for the anime and even the card game back then alive even when I invest myself to MTG. Love all the work you put into your videos, especially reliving childhood memories in this series. Thank you!

Thank you for this trip down memory lane, you absolute legend.
THIS, as well as the rst of the big five (pokemon, yugioh, dragon ball z, digimon, & beyblade respectively) were all a big part of my childhood.
And even though my love for pokemon reached far beyond kanto..all the way to Alola, Yu-Gi-Oh duel monsters will always be my fav (and only fav) despite the other seasons.
Ive rewatched it SO many times and it was a BIG part of my life growing up, & I can remember falling in love with the 1st movie 'Pyramid of Light' and STILL to this day IMHO think its the best and even the best looking YGO movie out there.
I even love the game for GBA Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards and even have it in my list of 'top 5 favorite games of all time' just because i love it so much, & i truly believe my passion for YGO Duel Monsters is a big reason for that.
I mean, I even went out of my way to buy a vintage Battle City duel disk, the duelist kingdom dueling Gauntlet, and i even have some replica Duelist Kingdom Invitation Cards, as well as a millinium puzzle hanging on my wall.
So i think its pretty safe to say that YGO DM as, and will always hold a special place in my heart, so ty and ty/rip Mr. Takahashi

I said it before, I'll say it again: They should've used Bonds Beyond Time as a springboard for Zexal. Since Astral has no memory and the number cards are all split from him, they should've used the events of Bonds Beyond Time to explain that the Crimson Dragon traveling back through time to save Yugi, Jayden, and Yusei caused the a fracture in time and space that also "broke" Astral, creating the number cards and making Astral lose his memory, thus leading to the events of Zexal... But god forbid someone do anything that makes sense in this series...
