I am totally agree with you. I still don't understand why shonens refuse to do romance. Yusei and Aki are litteraly one of the few romance who made everyone agree. The scenarists knew they were in love , the fans knew , the others character knew it , even the endings of the serie showed this😂. They clearly kissed eachother in the end . At this point , it is like the writes though a relationship in Yu-Gi-Oh would be bad. 5 minutes where they are boyfriend and girlfriend even if they are in different cities would be perfect

There is actually a Blackwing card that synergizes with the Dragon that was printed a year before it: Against the Wind, an Archtypal Warrior Returning Alive that dealt you damage equal to the attack of the returned monster. They're still so bad though, and they aren't even "Blackwing" monsters to benefit from card like Kalut.

One small scene i think they could have done to make Crows introduction make a LOT more sense would have just been a scene with him getting out of prison and thrown back on satellites streets. Sets up that he has beef with sector security and explains quickly why he wasn't around in the earlier parts of the show. Which considering his multiple marks then shows that he's done this multiple times before and so it's not just a one time happening but a relatively regular pattern of behavior, fitting for a rogue.

Crow showing up when he did in 5Ds really bothered me a lot. Yusei went through so much crap to reach Jack and get his Stardust Dragon back and then Crow just pops up claiming to be friends to both of them.
Not even a single line to explain it. Like, "Yeah, I knew Jack screwed you over, but I decided to stay out of it because it was between you two" or something. I guess he was just asleep the whole time and Yusei is too polite to yell at him for not even trying to help.

Some of the points u made are also just stupid. Like how black-winged dragon doesn't have synergy with blackwings. Yeah but stardust has synergy with yuseis junk/synchron deck...? Or ancient fairy dragon with whatever luna's deck is.
Why does it matter that he is only introduced 30 episodes in? I guess there is going to be a video on soulburner too then? Characters in one piece get introduced god damn 450 episodes in, join the crew and everybody likes them, but nooo, crow joining 10 episodes after someone suddenly isn't good.

    • @kylepessell1350
      @kylepessell1350 2 месяца назад +10

The similarity between the two is that their initial beef isn't with the authority in general but the corruption of that authority. By the time both of them join those organizations, that corruption is mostly removed and their involvement helps to remove the last of it and prevent it from coming back so they become forces of good for society rather than oppression.
Edit: I should clarify that I don't believe it makes those decisions 'great' decisions but they are at least understandable. Shadow and Crow at least realize that there are things they can do to help people as part of a greater organization than they can do themselves and at the same time they are keeping a close watch on them to make sure they don't abuse their authority.

    • @herotacticianmiles1698
      @herotacticianmiles1698 2 месяца назад +7

@@kylepessell1350I didn’t mind Shadow joining GUN actually
Let’s break it down a bit, and yeah most of this is implied offscreen rather than shown, but still.
Shadow’s issue with GUN was what they did to Maria and Gerald. Yes Maria died and Gerald was executed and Shadow’s head was rewired beforehand
At the end of Adventure 2 if you recall, Shadow remembered Maria’s true wish, which was protect Earth. He then died and is revived later by Eggman, then Rouge finds him and the amnesia arc begins until the end of Shadow the Hedgehog
Now that game is a mess story wise but it had some major implications. First off, at the end of the Last Story, Commander and President say they’d pay homage to Gerald and his efforts to save the planet, couple that with Maria’s wish earlier, and you get a pretty good motivation for Shadow to join GUN, in addition to the fact that Rouge, who was his best friend at the time (before the SEGA mandates came in) was already a GUN agent.
Now you may think that the commander would be a big blockade in Shadow’s way to join GUN, but he actually realized his mistake. This is shown in Expert Mode, where characters have random dialogue with Shadow, one of which the Commander apologized for wrongly accusing him of Maria’s death and asked him to join in on a picnic he had with his grandchildren. After that, you could see that both Commander and Shadow shared a goal and that is protecting mankind as per Maria’s wish.
So it technically makes sense for Shadow to join GUN even if the reasons to do so are only implied or are in extra content most people won’t have access to because Shadow the Hedgehog doesn’t have the best game design
Crow’s issues are way more apparent because he was a criminal, and judging by his marks, he was apprehended at least twice. Ok no matter criminals can be redeemed under the correct circumstances except the fact that Crow as a character couldn’t possibly fit in Sector Security, not because of his criminal record but because of his free spirit way of thinking. Crow is the type of guy to do things his own way, so having him belong to Sector Security contradicts how he thinks as a person.

If I were to rewrite the series
I would introduce Crow earlier and have him be a member of Yusei's friend group in Satellite
Have him assist in distracting sector security in the beginning and help Yusei escape to New Domino
Have Yusei and Crow meet up again in the prison it could then be revealed that he was captured by sector security whilst making that distraction that helped Yusei.
Whilst in the prison he could help Yusei get a handel of things there, and assist him in getting enough cards to build a deck to duel the warden and eventually help with his escape whilst choosing to staying behind in the prison to slow down the gaurds, against Yusei's wishes
This gives Yusei a window of time without Crow to let him meet the twins
Then the villians could use Crow as a sort of hostage to get him to participate in the tournament they set up to try to get Yusei to show his Signer mark
I'd prefer it if he was a central part of the story earlier on instead of being shoe horned in
You could even give him a little arc where he realises he keeps satisfying himself to help his Friends and he has to learn to strive for a solution where he and all his friends win.

Why the overemphasis on crow, why did he become a signer, why wasn't Luna and the spirit world used pretty much at all, why did it take so long for Leo to get any pay off. I hate the fact that because Crow got pushed into the spotlight Rua didn't get the true form of his dragon until late in the show. The show was literally screaming that Rua was supposed to be the true 5th signer but nooo, it had to go to Crow instead.
You can tell how shoe horned in he was because they retconned Black-Winged dragon into the "5" Dragons flashback later on. Let's not forget that Black-Winged Dragon was completely non-synergistic with the Black Wings archetype when it came out!
They made my girl Aki a benchwarmer for this loser... ugh.

THIS! ALL OF THIS! Thank you BOTH so much for bringing this all up! This is exactly why I hate Crow (as a main character). Had they made him into a supporting character, that would be perfectly fine, but adding him in last minute when the Signers and the Dragons were already established just ruined the overall plot for me, with benching Akiza (who was supposed to be the tertiary character from the start), adding in Black-Winged Dragon (who honestly sucks IMHO) into the Signer Dragon story just to force Crow into the already solidified plot, waiting to finally give Leo Life Stream Dragon when the show was nearing the end (when the dragon was first revealed in the very first season alongside the other dragons), and giving him a Mark of the Dragon that wasn't even on the Crimson Dragon's initial design. And for what... to hype up a damn archetype and make more money at the cost of the plot and wasting perfectly good character potential overall. And what makes this reason even worse is that most of the Blackwing cards we got after his character was established SUCKED compared to the first wave we got when he was introduced, and we still could've gotten Blackwings via Legacy Support, like how we got more of Carly's Fortune Ladies, Kalin's Infernities, etc. There was absolutely no need to make Crow a main character. Sure, he was a cool guy with a nice design, and he still could've joined the group later in the show like Bruno did, but how they went about it instead just ruined the show for me. Akiza, Leo, and Luna all got royally screwed over. We should have seen much more of them and their development alongside Yusei and Jack.
Making Crow a Signer (and the new tertiary character) was the worst mistake they ever made in 5Ds. Bringing him back to ARC-V just twisted the knife as he brought absolutely nothing to that show either other than just to hype up Blackwings again.

They may as well have just made whole new characters in their place who would've been affiliated with each of Zarc and Ray's respective counterparts, like Shun). Genuinely I think Crow would have been better liked if he dueled with Rex against Roman in a 3 way duel, but Rex basically forces him to leave through shadow game & card combo shenanigans. That way you can have another good duel with Crow facing against a Dark Signer while also working with his 'hero' only to be ultimately pushed away for a 'rematch' with Rex at the end of the season. Showing that while Crow is a late arrival, he does have a reason for being there at the end of the dark signers arc.

So, as an Amateur writer, I want to provide a potential reason for why the "Crow was supposed to be the Main Dark Signer Antagonist" theory likes to remain relevant.
In the anime proper, after the Crow vs. Lazar duel, we see the gigantic Shadow Cloud gather over Satellite and afterwards we see no people remaining, including Crow. Compound how Crow would have a solid motivation for his undeath (While 4Kids did what they could to censor how Dark Signers come to be, they couldn't avoid Carly still, so odds are, even kids would understand how that happened) in that he'd want to do anything to protect the ones he cares about, including the orphans he cares for, Crow joining the Dark Signers would be a powerful change. Add how we see Crow introduced, robbing Sector Security, him being a sort of "Anti-Hero" is rather interesting.
The Story itself seemed to be setting up for that route for Crow to be a major Anti-Hero of the Group, someone who is basically on the side of the Good Guys, but achieves the goals through questionable methods. For Crow to join the Dark Signers (Especially after Kallen's defeat) would have added a unique intrigue to the overall 5D's story, too. Would Crow stick to his guns after coming back from being a Dark Signer? Or would he regret that and actually begin to show remorse for his actions and grow?
Basically, the gigantic "What If?" idea remains relevant because there's already legitimate in-story beats that lean in that direction.
Even if Rex Goodwin was literally wearing the "Foreshadowing" on his attire, it could have been a massive Red Herring to throw people off. Not to mention how up until his own turn, Rex has been a Reasonable Authority Figure for the Good Team. Yes, his initial actions were very questionable from the start, he couldn't just go "Hey, I think you're part of a group of people who can save the world!" and expect the people to believe him. He needed the ones he suspected to actually prove it by revealing their Marks before saying "Yeah, that mark is proof of your involvement with this situation, and you can't deny it." Also compound that Akiza was a part of the Arcadia Movement and basically under Sayer's personal watch, that's another situation to deal with.
On the topic of Rex's turn to Evil, that in and of itself feels rather last-minute tacked-on. He had been the Reasonable Authority Figure, then just goes off and says "Yeah, I want to be Evil now." That's another reason why people tend to latch onto the "Crow being a Dark Signer" theory a lot: Rex's actions were completely out of left-field. Or rather, it wasn't properly foreshadowed well enough. Rather, it felt like Rex was going to be the Surprise 5th Signer at the last second. Arguably, that's what a lot of the Season seemed to be leaning on, too.
....I suppose basically, it's just furthering just how messy 5D's as a Yu-Gi-Oh anime really fumbled the story in a lot of ways that the "What If?" ideas seem much more appealing than what we actually got.

He didn't just hate the institution of sector security but what it does to people. For Crow, his main objective as a character is to protected the people from satellite and he just hates the disparity of society. So when that disparity is almost gone in 5Ds, then in order to protect the people he loves, makes a lot of sense to become a cop.
Basically, he hates cops because of corruption, but without corruption, he doesn't only have no more reason to hate cops, but he can also be a good cop himself.

As an Arc-V fan, I would like to talk about Crow in that show. In my opinion, he's not good in 5D's, but he's flat-out bad in Arc-V. Why, you ask? Well...
First off, he's out of character. Now, it can be argued that the legacy characters of Arc-V have some leeway when it comes to characterization because it's a full AU and their backstories are different, but Crow is just a complete jackass when that wasn't part of his characterization before. In context? Yes, it makes sense _logically_ that he would be angry at Yuya for endangering the kids, but it just doesn't _feel_ right, and it also doesn't flow well (especially because Yuya was the reasonable one of the team and actually tried to lay low). Then later on, he and his kids basically dismiss Shay outright because "you can't be sad about losing everything if you never had anything to begin with" or some BS like that.
And this brings me to my single biggest problem with Crow in Arc-V: his duel with Shay. While I like the _concept_ of Shay dueling against someone he comes to understand and thus spurs his character development, the fact that he _loses_ after his character development is spurred feels anticlimactic and needlessly punishing. Doubly so since that's the duel in which he first summons Ultimate Falcon - the symbol of his resolve and his drive to protect his loved ones, the physical representation of his character arc made manifest. (And he goes on to lose EVERY SINGLE DUEL in which he summons a monster higher than rank 8. Including Ultimate Falcon. But I digress.)
What should have been a triumphant moment for an established original character of Arc-V, who's been around since the start and has been struggling to trust even his own teammates, turns into a triumphant moment for _a cameo character._ There was no reason Crow had to win that duel. It's thematically inappropriate, forced, and... need I mention that the card he won the duel with isn't even played in most Blackwing decks because it's bad? Meanwhile Ultimate Falcon is practically mandatory in Raidraptors? That's just bad advertising and blatant favoritism.
I could go into how Crow is the first person to come back from being carded, for no apparent reason other than blatant favoritism, but I think I've made my point. If you want to listen to me ramble about Crow some more, by all means, ask and I will provide. But in short: Crow ruined a perfectly good moment for one of my favorite Arc-V characters who got done severely dirty in general, and I'm still salty about that.

PREACH!!! I didn't even think about that when he dueled Shun. TBH, the whole Synchro Dimension Arc was boring, frustrating, and way too long for me... Shinji made me hate it, which is a whole other thing... What is Crow doing being friends with that morally corrupt jerkass...? Seeing his duels against Tsukikage and Yuya was infuriating to say the least...! But back to Crow... I absolutely agree with you on him taking away Shun's potential further character development. The fact that he could've been the one facing off against Berserk Yuya in the semifinal round would've been him saving both Yuya and Yuto, which would've made the duel MUCH more iconic! But nooooo, they just had to have Crow be the one to do it to hype up those damn Blackwings (and these new ones weren't even good except Raikiri (I believe? The one that destroys cards) and that freakin' Gofu that broke the game for a short while).
If you ask me, they should've brought back Akiza instead of Crow. At least then, Yuzu could've interacted with her during her time in the Synchro Dimension, and heck, Akiza could've been the one to save her (instead of Sora) after Sergio sent her flying, using her Psychic Powers to do so! Yuzu could've had her own side story in that arc stretched out more instead of being a freakin' Damsel in Distress.
Let's face it, ARC-V Crow was a mistake from start to finish. All we got from him were more broken and busted Blackwings, a Hate Sink character in Shinji, and further wasted potential all around.

I would have loved to see that version of the semifinals. Definitely more poignant than "Crow is still an unreasonable jerk for no good reason"... sigh.
Also I would've taken Akiza over Crow as a legacy character in a heartbeat. I mean, we had Alexis for GX, why not Akiza for 5D's?

Black-Winged Dragon's situation is still weird, and probably worse so, even factoring in how due to the World Championship video games revealing the existence of the Heart mark while Dark Signer arc was still airing as it meant two Signer dragons were sealed away and the second one was just...hidden inside a motorcycle instead of being in a special sealed form, sealed like the final Earthbound Immortal or held by the final villains. Like while the commonly believed amount of writing impact over his popularity is clearly exaggerated due to development time it does feel like the signer arcs were moved around and pushed back forced Rua to wait longer than he needed and made one of the Signer dragons not fit its owner as they ended up phoning it in since that kind of change can make sense over dozens of episodes and over a season change instead of just 1 dozen and clearly be worse written than the stuff at the beginning.
Feels like Crow would have gotten Heart sign at very end, this time coming because of him fighting fate so much he rescued last Dragon so Crimson dragon give him mark as boost instead of how it was done impying he was always a chosen in a similar way to the video game mcs (who at least have excuse of being self-inserts), if pace was better done. And the Crow Rua connection you mention does also feel like it would have fit that pace this time showing himself worthy by mentoring a signer into his destiny. Making the marks instead fit the good chosen one trope of those who raise to the occasion are then chosen for the power to succeed.

While I wouldn’t say that he ruined Yugioh, Crow did a lot of damage to 5D’s. Especially in regards to both Akiza and Leo, Akiza more so as it really did feel like she should’ve been the third main member of Team 5D’s rather than a benchwarmer, and in regards to Leo it really did feel like he was supposed to get a rematch against Greiger where he would’ve gotten Life Stream Dragon, and would’ve probably become the official fifth signer after the final duel against Rex. Instead both of them got shafted hard by a character that honestly got way too much focus than he should’ve gotten.

Crow Hogan is if the writers have a favorite charater, can't make em the main charater, don't wanna change em, but dangit they want to put em in as much as possible.
This one thing anyother charater could have? GIVE IT TO CROW! ..This one scene? GIVE IT TO CROW! ...Oops we pushed Crow too much, have another charater take over, but have them loose so that you can give YUSEI the PROTAG the win and make Crow look better by default.
But you know what Crow is in 5DS? Joey Wheeler... but introduced way later and slotted in like nothing. You heard me.
Crow was written to be 5DS's Joey.
    Jusei is Yugi.
    Jack is Kaiba.
That's not how I see it.. but if you look at how everything gets treated..it makes sense.
But insted of keeping him in a "Joey status" as in.. "Not one of the chosen ones."
They were like: "But what if they were."
And that's why Crow is Crow. They wanted to put in Joey, then they pushed him foward a lot and well... you get it.

Your reasons aren't something you out right hate a character for. You blame the people behind it. Crow didn't hurt Yu-Gi-Oh. Konami hurt Yu-Gi-Oh, they tried to fix it messed everything up and, the community didn't make it better. For those asking Crow was introduced during the 5ds era when the Konami was releasing the first sets for Yu-Gi-Oh during Synchro era. They didnt expect for blackwings (Crow's archetype and deck of choice) to have popped off the way it did. So they originally had it set for Crow to come in be corrupted by the dark signers (like carly) and be wrote off. Once the conflict with dark signers and the earthbound immortals was set and everyone was to de returned back. Well the fandom love for Blackwings their instant tier 1 statues and, love for them. Caused the story to change as Leo (Rio) was gonna be a signer and get his dragon seen in the cut scene where the crimson dragon + 5 signer dragons clash with the earthbound immortals. You see Livestream dragon but later on it's removed for Black winged Dragon. Then they add both into a cut scene together. As well they dropped him smack dab into a major conflict to connect him to the other main characters basically make him the Joey of the group.

Tldwr: Crow could’ve been a good mentor for Leo and Akiza
In my idealized version of 5D’s Crow is present from episode 1. We don’t see Crow but he’s mentioned as the reason why Rally was able to get his hands on the d wheel upgrade for Yusei.
We wouldn’t see Crow until Yusei gets sent to prison. Yusei, being the new guy, gets targeted by a prison gang. Crow helps to get the heat off of Yusei’s back in exchange for grabbing extra cards for the gang leader. He’s able to help Yusei get his hands on a deck to make their escape easier. When presented with their opportunity to leave, Crow chooses to go back to the Satellite to keep an eye on things for Yusei.
Crow in the satellite prevents sector security from kidnapping Yusei’s friends at the cost of his jackals. Crow would then be motivated to go to New Domino to try to free his underlings.
Crow’s role in the plot from then on is being a mentor to Akiza and Leo. He himself was never a prodigious duelist so he understands their struggles more than Yusei. He’ll still get his chance to take out a dark signer, but beyond that point he’ll leave a tuner monster with Leo to help him unlock lifestream dragon later on.

I disagree that Crow replaced Aki in the trifecta. The thing is her arc was finding and fitting in a family which she did throughout the show, the 5Ds crew,Crow already had a role with the family. From the moment he is introduced to Crow we are drip fed info that Yusei,Jack and Crow are foster brothers and have fought forever in Satellite culminating in the fight to save not just the world but their hero as well while restoring their bonds as brothers. For the rest of the show he keeps Yusei and Jack in check while grinding for money and we see their bond as strong as ever as they carve out a new future.Essentially Crow is what Katsura is to Yusei’s Gintoki and Jack’s Takasugi. He is the brother that will back them up even if they aren’t on good terms especially when it matters.

Heck I even skipped a few of his one off duels with random one off characters like the dude who had Time Wizard. Was Crow my favorite 5ds character? No he just gave me a few good laughs thanks to the dub and in Tag force

Personally I like Crow as a character even as a kid I liked him in the dub. I found his deck to be fun and I liked the episode with old man junk. Though the dub dise make him a bit dumber. He was also my favorite tag partner tag force 4 and 5. I think he'd have been a better character if he wasn't a signer

i feel like it would have made more sense to write crow out of the show during his dark signer duel.
they could have ended it in a mutual kill giving yusei and the rest of the main cast a more personal reason to care about the whole situation by losing a friend.
it also would have prevented aki and the twins from becoming background characters for the rest of the show.

Not going to lie, I was sort of saddened that Leo didn't become a signor when he was in his duel with Devack. Like he was struggling but he was putting his heart into his duel along with trying to think of some strategies that helps him survive longer. But I still have a sour taste when I see Aki's first WGP riding duel and she lost to BS plot written things so Yusei can defeat all of them. Aki should have won that duel in the WGP and she should have lost to the 2nd team member to show she is capable of holding her ground and not just a sacrificial maiden for Stardust, I mean she literally has traps that reflect effect damage. As for Luna she got the short end of the stick too out of all of them, she was just a stepping stool for her brother when she has an interesting power out of the signors since they found her more threatening since Earthbound Immortals need field spells to stay on the field. She could have had a filler ep about her dueling prowess ,that was told literally in the show that she was gifted in dueling and her getting upgrades since she can go to the Spirit world. The spirit world has not really been explored and we never hear about Dark Sage ever again. Heck he doesn't even get to have an alternate form to suit Luna's deck or even BE in Luna's deck despite her deck primarily being spirits she has gone into contact with.

While i can see your points, i disagree with you about him getting his sign. His situation is similar to Link from Wind Waker, where he wasn`t a Chosen One, but earned it. I would argue he should have gotten his sign right after defeating Bomber to demonstrate that destinies are not set in stone. Again, i agree that it is poorly executed, but if he legitimately earned his sign he could have had the dynamic with Rui, where he was a bit of a mentor to him.
Also Kamen, are the clickbait titles really necessary? Is the algorithm screwing you over that hard?

A lot of what you said about Crow reminds me of why I hate Zexal‘s last arc, and especially what they did with Shark. They basically reset his entire character arc of learning to trust in his friends, and made him a Barian for no other reason than needless melodrama (not to mention that this causes…just…a whole hecking lot of inconsistencies). None of this has any setup either (in fact, I feel like Shark and Rio were originally planned to be connected to Astral World somehow, which would have been a really cool twist actually).
They essentially took what could have been a pretty neat concept for a character, and squandered it by shoving it onto an already existing character (which, to be fair, is not an issue Crow has at least). I know Yu-Gi-Oh! already suffers from cast bloat, but had…let‘s call him Barian Shark been introduced as a new character at the start of Zexal 2 alongside the other Barian emperors (and someone to take Rio‘s place as an emperor I guess), it would fix sooooo many of the writing issues of the Barian Emperors‘ War arc. (although it wouldn‘t fix how Vector is shoved aside after being set up as the main villain for more than an entire season‘s worth episodes, so it’d probably be best to just keep it to the five emperors they had in Season 2)
I still don‘t get how it is so beloved by the way, even if you take the probably better executed emotional bits in the japanese version into account.

    • @TheWizardMus

See I think Shark and Rio and Nasch and Marin could have worked if they were double agents and just didn't tell Yuma(and if Rio/Marin got to do things). You'd get the same Astral and Yuma drama without the random drama of Shark backtracking on his friendship with Yuma.
Like you wouldn't even have to change that much cuz the one who tried pulling the "I'm your friend" card was freaking Quattro, the guy who put Rio in the hospital and Shark has hated since the start of the series.
Have Shark backstab Don Thousand and Vector because they're the villains, give Yuma a smug grin as he reveals his and Rio's brilliant plan and then after the Don Thousand duel Astral points out the Numeron Code needs to be fully formed to destory it or something and boom the Final Duel with Shark goes unchanged

    • @xeni6277
      @xeni6277 3 месяца назад

@@TheWizardMus To be fair, Quattro didn‘t know the card he played against Rio would do what it did, and helped save Rio in a tag duel with Shark that is framed as resolving the issues between them, only for that to be completely shoved aside as well…
The Barian Emperors‘ War arc just can‘t stop messing things up, can it?

    • @riotkitty
      @riotkitty 2 месяца назад

It was set up excellently, I’m just saying. There were already two missing Barian Emperors, some of the other Emperors recognized him, and then there was the duel against Rio when she was possessed by Abyss Emperor, showcasing off the flashback of their previous human lives.
And Don Thousand was already set up almost immediately to be the final boss as the Emperors discovered their past human lives that were warped by him.

    • @xeni6277
      @xeni6277 2 месяца назад

@@riotkitty And all of that happened in Season 3, after the first duel with Vector. The point I’m trying to make is that it should have been set up right after the WDC Arc at the latest. We only learn of Nash and Marin right at the start of season 3, and up until that point, it never feels like there should be more Barian emperors. Hell, when Rio senses the Barians invading in the second half of season 2, she’s afraid of them. Considering this, it seems kind of odd that she turns out to be one of them some thirty episodes or so later.
Plus, we also have to watch Shark mope around not wanting to be a Barian for like fourteen more episodes after the Abyss Emperor duel, which is quite annoying imo, only for him to turn around and join them after one conversation with Dumon that amounts to “but you were our king tho.” “Huh, guess I was. I’mma betray my friends for a group of people the viewers are supposed to think I care about but I’m never actually shown interacting with in any positive way, nor do they seem to like each other very much, also, the guy who ruined one of my lives is there too.” This just doesn’t make any sense to me, largely because I feel it ignores a lot of established character dynamics.
