Riding the stock grom with a 14 sprocket in the woods was always fun👍 I installed a big and heavy crash cage for stunts at the moment sadly it’s not so agile as stock anymore but I think it’s time for a small off-road adventure this weekend 😂 Enjoy the grom life bro
Tried a little trail riding with a Monkey. Gearing was way off for even moderate hill climbs, but it was nice being able to basically carry it when I needed to lol.
Oh yeah, the stock gearing is one of the first things to change if you’re going to be doing hills or mountains. The Grom has a 14/37 and you can hear it struggle going up that hill
@cj budz climbing a 10% grade, my 2015 Grom tops at 35 to 38 MPH in second gear. Way too fast for trail riding. Way too slow for road riding. I'm a big guy though, so that's a factor.
"Extreme" is a word you used several times. I see an open, mostly dry, forest. The hills seem mild. Easily traversed by any motorcycle... well, maybe not a Gold-Wing or something like that. I've tried to take my Grom (also a 2015 model) many places much more "extreme" where I know other vehicles don't have much trouble. I've also tried to drive it through MUCH more dense forest. Not so successful. If this is what an up-state New Yorker thinks is tough country... well, no wonder we have stuff like the newly emasculated Defender, the ridiculous Bronco, and a brand like Toyota who can't be bothered to bring their effective Landcruiser to the US market. BTW, the Jeep Wrangler line is EXTREMELY popular in my town. Competition would, er, compete. Anyway, I'm off on a tangent. It's good to see a sensible Grom owner posting on RUclips. I'm not so interested in watching mobs of idiots break traffic laws in Omaha, Nebraska, as an example.
Thanks for the thought out comment, I should probably clarify a bit after the fact that first, I normally ride in Florida, which has no hills and elevation. This plays heavily on my thoughts of “extreme” as I ride the Grom in Florida and encountering anything that challenges its ability to climb a hill constituted an extreme condition for me! Another thing is that the gopro doesn’t accurately portray elevation well. I was hoping everyone could hear more than see on this that the bike was struggling to make it up the hill. The part of the video where I have to get off the bike to push was supposed to be the focus of this (and the extreme part). It’s always wet underneath the leaves in the forests up there actually, and those hidden logs and rocks were killer for the Grom. Glad you enjoyed it enough to comment though, and that I’m sharing out of the ordinary Grom content 👍
@@John5XR It is hard to convey the steepness of terrain on video. It's a frustration I've had for years. It's worse when everything is covered in snow. I feel your consternation. As a general rule, where I live, motorcycles are poor off-road machines. The ground is too soft at some point on most trails, they generally cut into the underlayment, and make a mess that might take decades to heal. I'm frustrated in the rise in popularity of heavy and powerful ATVs and side-by-sides. I fear if they're driven with little consideration to trail conservation, not only will the trails be damaged, motorized access will be restricted. It's happened before. I could go on about demographics and local politics, but I'm afraid I'll bore everyone to sleep. I may post a video someday, if it's worth watching. I've lots of footage, none of it is especially compelling.
I’m curious to hear your experiences with overheating an air cooled Honda small bore. I’m curious because I’ve been on air cooled Honda small bores for about 35-years and have never once overheated one.
Do you ever show the bike? Biggest problem is chuck holes pretty much swallow the 12" tires. I'm doing 'offroad Grom Clone'. So it has the CFR engine. I'm trying to find a high exhaust. Anyone? I did Kenda Big Block tires, 17T front, CFR70 front fender, skid plate, flat bars and hand guards. I pretty much just need a 'scrambler' style exhaust. Ideas?
I have several videos from a few years ago when I bought the Grom that show it pretty extensively. It was pretty well set up for off road when I bought it, so I haven't had to do much luckily. Your clone sounds cool, if you can find an FMF exhaust like mine, it's a great option!
@@John5XR Yeah But. I'm not talking muffler, I want an exhaust like the Monkey, that goes above the engine, not under it near the ground. Clones have the CRF / pit bike / CT70 engine exhaust port, unlike monkey or grom. So I'll probably go that way. No telling if it will clear body, but cutoff wheel might fix that. Buying bike parts online is worst than buying clothes, no telling if they fit and no returns!
Fun bike no mater what the surface.

Do you have ohlins on the front and back?
What type of mic are you using and how do you have everything set up
Where about in Upstate NY are you? I enjoy riding at our atv park Tall Pines. If you make back this way, check it out!
This was all around the PA/NY border with the nearest town being Deposit NY and Susquehanna PA

I'm not reading all of that but I'm happy for you, or sorry that happened

😂
1080p and 60fps
Or 360p and 10 minutes of lag
gOod job!
Does it has Knobbies, precious?
Dimensions of a grom are similar to the old school “trials” bikes.
I'll take your word for it on that as I never rode a Trials bike, but I like to say they're "fun sized"
I’m gonna take my grom to the local park it’s semi big and like 2 minutes away
You’ll have a blast!
Did you put some skid plates on it?
no skid plates, but it's something I'd like to have. I'm not sure if anyone makes one for the Grom
Watch out for bees haha
If you ran into a bear on that thing your fucked. You have a better chance with a dirt bike then you do with that but definitely super cool
Dirt bike NO ... trail bike MAYBE
“Extreme “ 😂🤣😅
Pin it bro
Yeahhh so I think you don’t know how to ride you’re bike, just being honest
Thanks for being honest, I’ll go ahead and quit riding too.
You should stay on trails and not disturb raw nature.
Boohoo nigga. Also it looked like he was following an old very overgrown fire road that hasn’t been used in years and years
good way to overheat the motor

This guy clearly hasn’t had a honda before
@FIZZ Alpha exactly
Bro it’s a small bore Honda you can hold it 7k for literally hours
@@John5XR He's probably used to Kawasaki's..those things break all the time.
