Great video information. I was able to change the 3rd brake light after removal of the spoiler and saved $300 for the DYI. Nice to see a Texas guy can learn from a couple of Cali guys! Thanks.
@@eagleboycortes I don’t recall if he replied, but the information he gives is correct and my install went very well. Only problem is the camera gets easily dirty in that location. Fortunately it doesn’t rain a whole lot where I live. Good luck.
Just want to make sure. After removing the two bolts, you need to slide DOWN to release from the clips? I don't want to break them by doing it wrong. Very helpful. Thanks!
Milton, Dillan is no longer a part of the company and he has the 4Runner so unfortunately I can't tell you difinitvly. I do think that's the way he did it.
So I want to do a spoiler delete completely on mine, I’m just not a fan of it personally, how would I go about filling those holes w out it looking bad and or allowing water in my car?
You can replace just the light itself. You can find replacements with a quick google search at all price ranges. We don't have any experiences with them but it shouldn't be too difficult to replace.
Just replaced my 3rd brake light, saved $300 for the DYI. go to www.spoilerlights.com I sent them a couple of pics and they were able to get me the correct light for $86.15
Very nice. I need to take the spoiler off my 06 4Runner and add double sided tape to it because the factory adhesive is all but gone, and is only held on by the 2 bolts. In addition to the bolts, what else did you use to stick the spoiler on the trunk?
I'm not sure you actually need any adhesive. Just the bolts and clips hold it on and it's actually supposed to come off pretty easy. I would personally avoid any adhesives.
Very nice. In that case, I most likely have 2 broken clips. Will check that when I get home today. Thanks for the advice Trail Benders Overland. Much appreciated.
Hey trail bender, do you have a Rola rack in the video? I’m getting a Rola rack with extender and possibly lowering brackets. Do you think I’ll have enough room for the rack even with my hump rear spoiler? Or would I need to swap like you? By the way, I ask this because I would rather not push the Rola rack forward because it would look offset. I want to make it symmetrical with my tubular bars. Thanks!
What's up Jordan! I think you'll be fine with the clearance. I used to have the ROLA on the stock bars and I had it lined up nicely in the back. The reason I was having clearance issues what actually due to a measuring/build mistake on my part. I built the new rack abut 3/4 of a inch too far towards the rear. And with fixed cross bars I couldn't adjust the placement of the ROLA enough to fix the clearance. At the end I only needed to gain 1/2 inch but couldn't move the ROLA. The spoiler fixed that for me, but you'll be able to fit it nicely. Here's mine with the stock rack: ruclips.net/video/aNkq_kiCVII/видео.html
How did you install ROLA Vortex + your tent. Im currently running into install issues with my ROLA Vortex + Yakima Sunrise 2 tent. Currently running OEM Cross bars on my 06 .
First thing, I would strongly recommend getting or building a stronger rack. I felt the need to do that after seeing the construction of the OEM rack. Second, with my new rack I made 4x cross bars for it and ordered 4 more clamp mounts for the ROLA. It comes with 4 normally but I wanted 8 to ensure it would all be strong enough. What issues are you running into? more specifically
I appreciate that! do you have a video of your rack build? and how exactly did you "make" your 4 cross bars? I actually am running into the issue that my Sunrise 2 tent has a wider frame than the ROLA vortex. I need to figure out how to mount the ROLA close to my roof with the camps + add sunrise 2 on top of it all without going over weight limit
So I am running into a mounting issue, and I will most likely take your advice if I am reading it correctly. So you rebuilt your rail system? then threw your ROLA ontop of that? Im really just trying to install both my ROLA and Yakima Sunrise 2 at the same time, by this weekends camp trip :)@@TrailBendersOverland
Mine has the Daystar lift/level kit. 2.5" front and 1.5" rear spacers. A proper suspension is on the way, but the Daystar gets the job done in the mean time. Just waiting on finances! I'm actually super happy with the Daystar so far. Haven't felt limited by it.
Trail Benders Overland at first I didn’t notice the difference till both truck park next to each other’s I just like how the 06 pop up high but the flat one is not too bad as well
I mention it in the video. I wanted the 03-05 spoiler because it’s lower profile to clear my rack when the hatch opens. I by chance found someone on Facebook who wanted my 06-09 spoiler so we did a direct swap.
Do you have the yrs reversed? I have a Lim ‘05 and the spoiler is humped but I want the flatter style like you. All after markets require retro fit so looking for rear flat that fits factory mounting. Is it the ‘06 then? Thx. Great video BTW.

Joe Davis Ha! Cool! Happy to help. Guess we have more than just the beaches to offer 😎
Thanks man! I just installed a back up camera and mounted it to the spoiler. I had to remove the spoiler to run the wires for a factory look.
Glad I could help! how does the camera work up there? I thought about that location before deciding on putting it above the license plate.
Works great, more of birds eye view. I did the listened plate camera on my other truck, and wanted to try something different on this one.
@@andyanderson6335 If you’re still around I am going to do likewise. Can you give me any tips or advice on how you did yours.

Good looking 4runners guys , may i know lift height, kit used, and tires sizes? Thanks !
Its the eibach pro truck lift kit. I just installed one on my 03 V8 limited a week ago.
What kind of tires and size you have? Also how high are you lifted

I would say bondo
Bondo would probably do fine. I've never done much with sheet metal. I have seen other posts around 4runner forums that talk about filling the holes.
My third brake light its out. Do i need to replace the whole spoiler or is there any third brake light replacement?

Did that other spoiler fit perfectly using the factory clips and all?
dogmandan79 Yep! Fit like a glove. The mounting is identical on both.

Can the 03 to 05 spoiler fit the 01-02 4Runner since the back door is practically the same
rickie charles My dad had an 01 and I definitely don’t believe it would work as is without modification. Sorry we couldn’t be more help!
Has anyone drilled the hole on hatch to install a spoiler? My 4th gen doesnt have a spoiler and I want to add one

Just a ratchet and socket. I forget the size, 10 or 12mm

What size tires?
Thanks! They're 31"s. 265/70r17 BFG A/T Ko2

I was wondering if the V6 ever feels bogged down with the lift and tires?
Not mine. The only thing that has noticeably affected the performance is the roof tent and all the gear on the roof. Even then, it's not terrible.
Thanks for the heads up
Any FB group in particular?

I got mine on a San Diego specific group. Try searching your city+4Runner on FB.

I'm looking to do the same thing! I have an 05 black (with hump on spoiler) looking for flatter black spoiler.
Anyone in So Cal interested?
Have you tried FB groups? Worked for me!
I also have a Black Hump rear spoiler i would like to swap for for a Black flat rear spoiler if anyone has one? Thanks - message me :P
