    As the owner of a rack company. Doing a comparison on these 2 racks the Sherpa is better rack. We have taken off so many Prinsu roof racks at our shop and never have had a customer ask us to take off their Sherpa. Sherpa only make roof racks so when you make one product you do it the best you can and that they do. 👌

      I installed my Westcott Designs roof rack and ladder about 3 weeks ago and can honestly say I believe its as good if not better then the Sherpa and its certainly better than the Prinsu. Not only is the price comparable with the Prinsu you get the build more similar to the Sherpa for way less. I've not had any reduction in MPG's with my WD rack and there is no notable wind noise to speak of. I have heard plenty of complaints about the Prinsu's wind noise because of the allowed airflow underneath the rack and I have heard the same for improperly installed Sherpas. All in all I love my WD roof rack and have already enjoyed multiple nights sleeping in my RTT without any issues.

    Just ordered the Sherpa Crestone over the Prinsu. No silicon and no cutting were no brainer features. Also, the Sherpa front fairing sits off the paint, where the Prinsu rests against the paint. No chance of rubbing damage with the Sherpa. Can't wait to install it. Thanks for the video.

    I’ve had the Prinsu rack for the cab of my Tacoma and added the canopy rack a couple months ago. The racks themselves are great, however the company is not great compared to all other overland product companies that have really popped up in the past few years that I’ve bought from. Prinsu hardware rusts, and I don’t live in a place with salt, their customer service is non-existent, and if you want to buy a rack accessory they are super expensive for seemingly no reason. Wish I purchased another system but it’s too late now. Hope this helps!

    I love my Sherpa grand Teton rack on my Tacoma. Have installed both prinsu and Sherpa racks and Sherpa takes the cake. The panels are thicker, beefier, and hardware for mounting with the rubberized hardware and rubber footing on their rack mounts is genius. No need for silicone and no leaks here. Overall build quality is superb. On top of that, sherpas customer service is top notch. They sent me free awning brackets after I purchased a used pair of sherpa awning brackets from a third party that I was having issues with and were always quick to respond. My rack hasn't aged a day in the years I've had it, meanwhile the prinsu hardware all rusts within a year.

      I have a prinsu rack and snagged ss hardware and mounting spacers from southern style offroad before install…few years in 0 complaints but would probably go victory 4x4 if doing it again. Those upgrades are a necessity with the prinsu imo but got mine Black Friday so couldn’t pass it up

    Come back in 6-12 months. The Sherpa will look new and the prinsu will have hardware that is starting to corrode. Not sure how prinsu gets that 600 lbs dynamic rating but I wouldn’t trust that. 5052 aluminum that’s thinner vs 6061 that’s thicker…it just doesn’t add up. Plenty of people with prinsu racks report cracking or bending with just a RTT.

  • @gardenparty3288

  • @grantgomm5984
    @grantgomm5984 2 месяца назад

    Then there is Prinsu vs Prinsu Pro. I have the pro. From what I saw in this video, the P Pro is even beefier. But the install is similar to the regular Prinsu. I didn’t like having to cut the weather stripping for the front feet. And the rubber blocks of the sherpa seem like a great idea. IMO if Prinsu could just modify their install on the pro version to be more like the sherpa, it would be fantastic (or if the sherpa could do something to increase their load capacity).

    • @yotaxpedition
      @yotaxpedition  2 месяца назад +1

      Exactly. Sherpa should change the cross bars and Prinsu should change their mounting feet.

    Has anyone found Toyota's 5th Gen 4Runner actual roof capacity rating? It's great if your roof rack has 1,000# capacity, but NOT is the 4Runner's roof capacity is only 500# dynamic and 700#. static. We should know our vehicle's roof capacity rating!

    • @gardenparty3288
      @gardenparty3288 2 месяца назад

      Per TOYOTA help when questioned. Max load is 110 pounds. They avoid all other questions
      (ie: static/dynamic) and stick to their 110 pound max capacity position. Hope this helps.

    Up Top overland roof rack is better. Stronger than both. Up Top has a three secure attachment point option which helps make it stronger.
    Misleading information! Prinsu does not have an official weight rating. False information
    On Prinsu website
    Disclaimer: we do not have our rack weight rated, but we have field tested them.
    Sherpa Roof rack attachment uses pressure with rubber. Good luck it will last and not leak over time.
