    Excellent job. I got the same wheels new for $400. $150 to mount on existing tires. Bought Bilstein 5100 for $475 for for front and rear and Moog coils for front and rear for $200. I felt like I saved money. You really did well. My 2005 has 180k miles so I figured new coils were in order.

      @@tronixster I finally finished my install. Did it all myself like you but my 4runner is a 2005 that is a Midwest car so almost every bolt had to be heated to remove due to rust. My 5 lb sledgehammer got a workout. My truck looks fantastic now. So far I have replaced the front seat cover, the wheels to the same ones you have, hood struts are next then a free floating Apple CarPlay screen is going to be installed in the next two weeks. It’s like a new car and anyone considering a front end lift or level I highly recommend it. They look so much nicer.

    Nice video, thanks for posting. It’s worthwhile noting that you can also use the rear shocks from a Tacoma. In this case you need to buy new eyelet bushings for the lower shock mount, press out the original bushings for and replace them with 4Runner size bushings/eyelets. This avoids having to modify the frame of the 4Runner in any way.

  • @EcBuddy123
    @EcBuddy123 2 года назад +4

    I think the springs are a bit different, something about the 4runners being progressive and the Tacoma not having that style. Not sure exactly what that means but I believe it has to do with suspension softness/compliance, but they do work! For those getting rear shocks, you will need to change out the bottom bushing on the Tacoma shocks to fit 4runners

    • @tronixster
      @tronixster  2 года назад

      Yeah those old progressive springs are no good honestly, especially in the from where you have lots of weight. And Tacoma rear shocks won't fit on 4Runner. They are different

    • @EcBuddy123
      @EcBuddy123 2 года назад

      @@tronixster the shocks do fit. Just the Bottom bushing needs to be changed according to a ton of forums... Of course you get no springs since the Tacoma runs leaf springs if that's what you mean.

  • @robertpyles9289
    @robertpyles9289 Год назад +1

    Ok another comment that is more of an advice thing sense I’m an ASE certified steering and suspension expert that specialized in 4wd vehicles! When replacing any suspension work where you’re replacing like lower control arms or shocks and the control arms, what you are going to need to do is put the tires back on the vehicle let the jack down and rest the vehicle under full body weight on the suspension reverse and pull forward a couple times for the suspension to settle then torque the bolts after the suspension has settled! This is because these parts like the control arms and bottom basically the parts that either turn or have an up and down movement the reason for allowing the suspension to settle is these rubber bushings are basically glued into place and if you don’t let the suspension to settle before torquing them down these rubber bushing will absolutely break away from their glued in areas and will make noise and wear out a lot faster and in my state were we have state safety inspections these broken bushings will cause the vehicle to fail the state inspection for broken suspension parts!
    And for good sakes people sport utility vehicles and trucks aren’t cars so stop referring them as cars! It’s freaking annoying to hear someone call a truck or an SUV a car!

    • @tronixster
      @tronixster  Год назад

    Can you explain not needing the hydronic line again? If they havnt changed suspension components, do the newer shocks just not require a hydronic line?

    • @tronixster
      @tronixster  Год назад +1

      Newer shocks have everything built in to them. Those lines are just additional stuff that cross connects front & rear shocks to limit the body roll. It’s a great idea in theory but it gets warm out quick and maintenance is pain in the butt and super expensive and quality of the ride is not any better

      Basically, look for any front coils and shocks of newer 2011 - 2021 Toyota Tacoma and rear shocks of newer 2010 - 2021 4Runner. They'll all work better than what you have on there now. Tokico or Bilstein will both work perfectly fine.
