i only drove 3k to 4k miles this year and yet i should change the air filter? Why does 1 year rec. thing every mechanic says....Sorta makes no sense unless the filter breaks down over time
If you are only driving 3-4k miles a year then no need to change it once a year. You should check the filter once a year and change it out when you hit 15-20k miles. Since the car is not being driven to much you want to check your filters to make sure a mouse has not built a nest on it. We see this mainly with cabin air filters.
@@filterheads thanks
General guidance, however, driving on dirt roads, mice (love to get in and make winter homes there), etc., may mean your filter needs to be changed sooner than recommended.
The filter is something you should keep an eye on. And that includes your cabin filter (found mice made it to there too).
After opening clips, I can barely lift the housing cover. Not enough clearance to remove filter. Haynes manual says to disconnect mass air flow sensor, but mine doesn't have one as they show. My plastic duct seems to be much stiffer than yours, so I may need to remove duct from housing, but I'd rather not.
Ah thank you
You're welcome!
