Fried Pork Turnovers

- Here’s an updated recipe without wheat starch for those that are unable to find wheat starch. This is a modified version using my sesame ball dough recipe.
❣️Quick tip not mentioned in video: coat rolled pork turnover lightly with rice flour after molding. This will help prevent pork turnovers from sticking to each other while frying. ❣️
Ingredients listed below. Enjoy!
Filling: (this makes enough for two dough batch)
2 clove mince garlic
1.5 lbs ground pork
1 cup dice wood ear mushrooms
3 TB oyster sauce
1 tsp five spice powder
1 tsp sweet soy sauce
1/4-1/2 tsp Salt to taste
2 tsp oil
1/4 cup scallions chopped
Dough:
1 bag glutinous rice flour (16 oz)
1 cup rice flour
1 cup dry mash potato flakes (mixed with 300 ml warm water)
100 ml coconut milk
1 cup warm water plus 1-3 TB
1 TB baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 TB lard
Yields approximately 30-35 Pork Turnovers depending on size.

Hello, sister. Thank you for recipe. You’re recipe is very good. I’ve used your recipe two times and tweaked it a little but to my liking. I used the exact same amount of everything. The second time, I didn’t add hot water to my mash potatoes and I just poured the water right in with the rest of the ingredients. I increased to one whole packet baking powder size (14g), and it gave me lighter, less thick dough, more cooked through. I guess it depends on your preference, but thanks for sharing anyhow!

Whats the oil tempature?
May I substitute lard for other oil or butter? If so, what is the measurement?
You can substitute with butter same amount.
Can I freeze them if I don’t want to cook them all?
Yes you can. I used her recipe here and decided to freeze it. It was still good to fry after!
Is there any substitution for the larb?
You can try butter.
What is TB larb?? What does it to to your doung??
It’s lard which is pork fat used in cooking, frying and baking. It helps create a crispy outer dough when deep fried.
Where do you find lard? Asian store?
