Porsche 911 Sport Classic. Fantastic looks, 550bhp, 2WD but is it better than the GT3 Touring?

- The 2022 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a £214,000 limited run special edition based on the 911 Turbo but with 2WD and manual gearbox only. How does it match up to my favourite 992 of the moment, the GT3 Touring? Find out here:

In a disturbed world we, thank God, still have the 911. 🙏🏼
Amen😊
Amen Brother..
Except for the fact that most people will never be able to afford it, I agree with you.
@@Jeff_Kleinthe cost is really rather immaterial as hardly anyone apart from extra special customers will ever get on the waiting list let alone an actual build allocation!
And thank goodness we do. The day the 911 spawns into an EV will be a sad day
Rather than being a limited production Porsche, they all should have been made like this.
Yes I’m getting a bit fed up with Porsche launching model after model (GT4RS, GT3RS now Sport Classic) of great cars that are only offered to select clients and never actually go on general sale. The rest of us are then expected to pay those select clients double what they paid to get one on the used market. It’s a ridiculous money go round.
@@neilturner6749Welcome to the world of free enterprise.
@@mikesav9 It doesn't have to be this way, it can change, and if it did things could be better!
@@Trendyflute I agree
@@Sidowse
Nothing like door pulls on a huge 911 with screens and electric windows "to save weight".
This is a great example of what Porsche does best, building great cars, and charging ridiculously high prices for limited editions (and options too).
Porsche is charging ridiculous price for there cars cause rest of sport manufacturers are building ridiculous cars full stop :)
@Christopher-Jaydenwhat would Allah think of the new Porsche?
Well is it a proper use of God geven abilties?
1250 is not really limited....
Porsche is like a second class strip bar. Their main effort is to extract as much money they can from their customers wallets.
The 356 and early 911s had gold badges. The badge on this car is a throwback to those series
Yes sir..
But surely they didnt have the back writing gold plated as well, right?
The most underrated cameraman on RUclips: Harry's wife
Spends most of her time on the hard shoulder waiting for Harry to come back round, wonder if he’s ever forgotten to collect her 😊
Unsung hero
Absolute facts
One of the best looking interiors that I have seen on any car ever. Well done Porsche! BTW @Harry, that is my favourite shirt..
I couldn't agree with you more about saving $100k with the gts. The problem is this sport classic can double your money down the road vs the gts depreciating. If you can afford the extra $100k you might even double that later
a lot of these are either spoken for or reselling for double the MSRP as of recently
Right but the chance of getting one of these at MSRP is essentially 0%
I don't think a potential buyer of this even knows a GTS exists 🤣
Yes I agree, being a limited run and such a classy overall package I think it will hold its price well😊
@@MyRealName right 😆
First time I heard about this car and listened to the option list I think it became my favorite Porsche ever, not that I'll ever own one. It's the idea of that engine mated to a manual and the interior is stunning. It looks the part as well, understated luxury and performance. Thank you for showing us around one, I really love your reviews.
The gift that just keeps giving ! Harry is so bloody cool. ❤
Fantastic, the oldskool interior really elevates it and shadow decals and ducktail are lovely. Harry, I agree about the wheels. They were fun in 2011 with the 50th but are tired now.
Harry, great review.....the styling on this version is just beautiful and well done. I could look at it for hours.
Love the interior of that car. Reminds me of a cafe I use to frequent in my youth. Orange plastic seats, wood effect Formica table tops and black and white table cloth. Lovely stuff.
😂
I’ve spec’d a regular 911 with that Heritage interior, then only a couple of choice options. Nice to see one up close. Thanks, Harry.
Lovely car great interior and that sound. Once again a fabulous review.
The stock exhaust on this car sounds great, considering it’s turbocharged! Love this car! Cheers
The great big smile on your face as you excite the corner says it all !!!
Great video as usual Harry! But this car, wow! What a beautiful work of art!
Woah anyone else notice those flames at 17:22. From factory, in broad daylight…impressive
I'm pretty sure they are not flames but just some leafs flying in front of the camera at the right time. I played it several times at 0.25x and that's what it looks like. Despite the fact I have never seen any stock Porsche shooting flames, doesn't seem very credible for me
@@ArnauUM Seen the 964 911 shoot flames on the nurberg ring. It was standard as far as i could tell
Yeah it's not flames, but a something like a leaf that blows past. Out of focus due to being closer to the camera than the car.
@@odin5188 any stock recent Porsche then*
@@ArnauUM I doubt anything recently dude. Not with all the exhaust filters we have. Saying that Lamborghini seem to be able to shoot flames
another great review with awesome camera work, and editing, as usual.
I absolutely adore that interior, such a breath of fresh air when compared to other modern cars. That spec with a dark green exterior, like british racing green, must be just heavenly. Since this is a homage to the classic Porsches, I do believe the NA 4.0L engine from the GT3 would be "purer" and more fitting for the Sport Classic, and also because it just sounds terrific.
You're right about the 4.0 would be nice. However, a RWD turbo is a nice throwback the the 930 "widowmaker".
This and M5cs look amazing
You can get the GT3 Touring, very similar to this and you get the 4L flat six :D
I fully agree regarding the interior and a dark green exterior. Went ahead and ordered a Turbo S in dark olive metallic with the same Heritage Design interior as in this video.
@@HLife719 +1 .. Gorgeous, understated & elegant all at once. .. A very nice spec. .. Lucky Dog!
I absolutely love that ducktail. I really wish they put that on the GT3 touring.
I think you can have it as exclusive part.
Or the Nissan Leaf! 😆
Harry your the best on RUclips . Thanks for the hard work !!!!
This is a spectacular machine! One of the best 911’s ever made, in my opinion.
Fantastic looking car; beautiful design work inside and out. Thanks Harry.
Really like the styling of this inside & out. The only issue is the £100k premium!
It looks to me that Porsche are afraid of being afraid of being taken over by Singer
@@DAlchemistCapeTown Singer costs just a bit more than a Sport Classic.
Don't worry ....They are all sold out 😂
Isn’t it a bit odd that Porsche UK have a demonstrator for a model that you can’t actually buy?
@@v4skunk739yeah just a £million
I recently turned 1k miles on my new 911SC and love driving it…Ive had a lot of Porsches but this one is special 🤩…I also have ‘22 GT3…if I had to pick one for all types of roads and conditions it’s the 911SC…just a wonderful Porsche!
These are so cool. Seen a few different specs online now and it looks so classy.
I love how classic Porsche has remained. The interiors aren't overly tech and over the top. Beautiful!
Special review. Thanks Harry.
Stunning car. Great vid Harry!
Thanks you harry for showing the manual gear box, and also Porsche to keep in going
Thank you Harry, a very nice review of this car , better than jc could do
Harry I love both your channels... thanks
The car on my 'if I won the lotto' list was always a GT3 Touring. Back in April I went to Porsche Colchester for an MoT and in the showroom was a Sports Classic. Obviously I spent a while looking and admiring. And only when I was sated did I notice that RIGHT NEXT TO IT was a GT3 Touring!! Didn't even see it. Lotto win list updated...!
There have been a lot of takes from Porsche on the “ultimate spec “ 911 over the years, but this one is definitely one of the very best!
I think this has to be the nicest 911 I have seen, Love it.
Wow that’s quite a neat configuration and I love the modern-retro this is. A very special car indeed.
Love a manual review… keep em’ coming, great channel!
Totally agree they should’ve done a modern rendition of the five spoke Fuchs wheels. Thanks for the excellent review Harry!
The iconic sports car. Love the look of this model and the interior a real charm.
Another excellent video from Harry, not forgetting his helper behind the camera of course.👍 As for the car, the 911 has never pushed my buttons in any of it's variants so if I had £200k+ to spend on a Sport/GT coupe to actually use it certainly wouldn't go on this. To squirrel away as an investment, maybe. Obviously very well put together though.
Wonderful car! Thanks for sharing Harry and thank you, Porche. I want one.
Your man at the corner is fkn brilliant with the manual zoom & focus.
The camera work on the exterior corner shots is sublime.
{ You might get a kick out of this - the closed captioning thinks the auto blip is applause - you're gettin' a standin' ovation the who way round ;) }
I love the throw back to the hounds tooth. Amazing:)
Really like the styling of this inside & out.
Great review. I have a 20 year old 911 Carrera 2 which is always a joy to drive and a thoroughly brilliant car. Even though the 992 is bigger and heavier I’m blown away by Porsches ability to still make it a fantastic drive.
The 991/2 despite being much wider and having a much more safety/ electric wiring etc are also not much that much heavier spec for spec which is amazing.
@@ahemgee9542Got a problem understanding, what do you mean by “much that much heavier spec for spec”. I’m actually curious what you meant, not meant in any harm.
Thanks Harry. That is one beautifully executed machine. I like everything about it. High entry cost but likely to hold its value, being a limited run.
Never been a fan of Porsche but omg... This car looks amazing. Mean, fast a bit of attitude and also grace too. Love the interior too. Great review as always. Live the honesty and backed up with facts. See you next Sunday👍👍🚗
I was never a fan of Porsche until I bought one. Only a 'lowly' Cayman S... But then they really get under your skin. They're just so bloody good at what they do. 10 laps of the nurburgring and a cross continental cruise in mine and you will never wrech it from my grasp!
Burberry chav colours - nailed it! Its perfect for centre forwards and goal scoring types.
Really enjoyed this review on the Porsche 911 - watching from Adelaide, South Australia
Sport Classic and this channel are made for each other
When you dropped it into 2ndgear Harry, I found myself smiling along with you. My pick of the current Porsche litter.
The green dials, the upholstery materials and the wood mimics the 1965 911.
The wheels do mimic the New Beetle. I would have never guessed they were going for the Fuchs look, had you not mentioned it. 997 SC's wheels were perfect.
Again! Lovely Zuffenhausen video! Just look how it's grown!
Give me 930 all the way that's sports car!
Not usually a Porsche fan, but if they keep making cars like that I will be. And I love that interior.
P.S. Good to see the Espada is back in the garage.
There are commentators, there are You tubers, there are reviewers, there are expert journalists. Then there is Harry, nobody does it better in my humble opinion. Legend has it Harry financed the early EVO magazine with funds the bank thought were for a barn! Name me a bigger petrolhead ?
That interior really is very lovely!
Thanks Harry for another great video in the real world , I like the look of this sports classic , i do wish it wasnt turbo though but then i guess it would be too close to a gt3 / touring , It will be interesting to see what the Porsche ST model is going to be like when that comes out ,
There just seems to be too many different versions , would be better if they streamlined the range a bit i think
Seeing this car in person, it is much more impressive than I expected. Always love a Harry's Garage video!
Where did you see it in person? Do you have one for sale?
@@mediocreman2Seen it in person, too. In a dark blue and I think gold spec. As the person above said, it looks really impressive and absolutely beautiful in my opinion (and I’m not even the biggest fan of the 992)
Didn’t know this existed until now
What a beauty 😍
The sound of the manual gearbox is so beautiful .
Thank you Harry.
The interior is simply exquisite 😍!
Great video as usual
Nice bit of kit sounds a treat
My favorite Porsche from their line up currently. What a beautiful car.
Great review Harry
Love that interior😍
That interior is just stunning.
That is bloody gorgeous!
Stunning car! Perfect paint and wheels!
Wow that is a beautiful beautiful looking car from the side. All angles. What a stunner.
Utter perfection of design inside and out. Including the alloys 😍
Another great video. Could.never afford such a car but glad they exist if that makes sense.
Being turbocharged, it's probably a better grand touring car than a GT3 Touring. It'll be more relaxing to drive at high speeds, makes passing easier, a more relaxed exhaust note, a softer ride, etc. The problem is once you reach a fun bit of road, you want that naturally aspirated response and high revving 4.0L. OH, and it's the Pirelli tires that do indeed help with cabin noise.
Tbh I'd love to have the "problem" of a 911 turbo on a fun bit of road...
Are you sure about the tyres? Its probably fitted with the lightweight and noise insulated glass option since it looks to be fully speced.
I'm not convinced that Pirellis are that much quieter tbh, Turbo generally is quieter than other 992s. Probably worth checking out rennlist for comparison between tires.
something like a GTS or 4S with glass sunroof would make for an amazing GT car as vell vs a GT3 Touring. Sadly the RUclips generation is only concerned about how loud engines sound, they don't account for the ride quality or actual comfort.
@@boonie3 you mean a targa?
Those wheels 😍 what a beauty this car is.
100% agree with you this Porsche is great looking inside and out apart from the wheels . If it was ten times cheaper i still could not afford one , but love your reviews.
Obsessed with that houndstooth interior....
Thanks Harry as always 👍👍
This was a great review!
I do love those checkerboard cloth seats and door panels, that’s such a nerdy 70s 924 nod. ☺️👏
Halleluja, for 911and air cool the one and only! 😊 thank you Harry.
Sounds so good
Best review of this car yet.
As a MK1 Octavia vrs owner, I can tell you the white bits on the seats will be a nightmare to keep clean 🤣
But what a lovely car
That would look amazing in Irish green with that interior
wow the inside of the car looks amazing
What a gorgeous car.
Isn’t it just!
That might be the best interior I've seen on a modern car. Beautiful and unique.
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
It's interesting but a bit much in person to my taste
@@atom999 I'm with you on that one. Far too much going on with all the different materials and colours. Any designer worth their salt will tell you "less is more"
Cheers Harry, nice to see, thanks 🙏
I absolutely love the heritage pack interior.
I almost started drooling as I watched this
Perfect watch for a Sunday.
Such a great review
Interesting to see, but I much prefer pretty much everything about your 1989 car. Though as far as new cars go, I will admit that they did a rather nice job with the interior of this Sport Classic.
That’s gorgeous, Harry!
But then so was the 930 Turbo!
Thanks, Harry!
I will forever drool over that turbo s!
Fantastic car and a great review !
Thank you Harry ❤
i love your reviews
