I love this message. It’s so empowering and makes one realize how everyone has their own issues no matter how big or small and how we can overcome them

Sharing your journey to grow strong is clearly important. We all can grow from learning how our attempts to help someone may not be the right thing. And learn how to help ourselves grow too.

Wow! I so related to this! I’ve had several of those kinds of experiences and can say that I used to be a big self minimizer! Everything you said is so true and so helpful! Where were you when I was younger? lol!

I'm terribly sorry for what happened to you, Ginny, though you didn't go into any detail. But I did perceive a certain distress at one point near the beginning of your story. The reactions of those around you and close to you, what you call "minimizing", are the same that happen every time in such circumstances - as if it's ingrained human nature. In a way it's normal, because what they are really trying to do is keep your courage up so that you won't let yourself go into dark and negative realms. Often there's little else they can do. If I were one of your close friends at the time, I would have insisted first of all on you knowing that I would always be there for you to help you in any way I could. The rest would depend on what you reveal about what has happened to you, and so how much trust you have in me. But you wouldn't be able to stop me from saying certain truths to bolster your courage. You're a stunningly beautiful woman, Ginny/Virginia. You're a top-class modern woman, elegant (a lovely dress and absolutely gorgeous stilettos), clearly extremely intelligent. And all that will help you move forward after the initial shock. A few years ago I read a book written by a German woman who was happily at home with her husband one day, and there was a ring at the door. It was the police, come to arrest her husband for a double homicide, a secret he had kept from her. She wrote the book to explain how her life was devastated by realizing that for a long time she had been sleeping with a murderer. You're a highly interesting woman, Ginny, and I'm going forthwith to do a thorough Google search on you. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
