Freddie gave every ounce of himself in the last album Innuendo. He always gave his all throughout his career, but at the end of his life he showed the world what an amazing vocalist he truly was. Freddie went out on top, and as far as I'm concerned he will always be on top. Great reaction.

The crowd is at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire where there was about 100,000 to 200,000 Queen fans. This was one of the last songs that he sung before he died, he was so ill that he couldn't do a video but he sang this song in one go. Brian May wrote the song as it was how Freddie felt. Freddie was in the recording studio, Brian asked if Freddie was ok to sing it, Freddie finished his glass of vodka and then said I will do the fucking song love and did it in one go. thanks again, Jack TB -- here is the "official" story: "" is a song by the British rock band Queen, featured as the twelfth and final track on their 1991 album . It is credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life, although his diagnosis with HIV/AIDS had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990 that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it.
Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll
fucking do it, darling'-vodka down-and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal".

In Rio, Queen got 600,000 in two days for their 2 shows. Yeah, there were that many people who wanted to see Queen. Roger smashing his drums with beer flying everywhere. Japan had huge crowds also. Wembley shows were around 72,000 each. This is a song by Brian May. He wrote it thinking it would never be sung by Freddie because Freddie was so ill at the time. However, Freddie kept going to the studio and begging his mates to just write him stuff to sing and that they could do whatever with it later on. Kudos to Freddie for being able to belt this song out, probably knowing that Brian had written it about him. In recent years and especially now with the whole Covid thing going on, this song has become very popular again.

The line "the show must go on" has long been used in theater, and a number of theater references appear in the song. The actors in classic theater wore very heavy make-up, so that their characters could be clearly identified even from the back row seats in relatively poor light. After a long session of performance, the heavy makeup, often called greasepaint, could easily be flaking on the actor, showing that it's been a hard, even trying session on the stage. The line "I'll top the bill", means to be the highest credited performer on the advertising signs that would be stuck up where the performances were happening, when and where shows were being done.

The single for this song was released the same day Freddie decided to stop taking his anti-HIV medication, which at that point in time did almost nothing to stop the rapid progress of AIDS and had lots of nasty side effects. From then on, he kept taking only his pain medication. It was like he decided, at that point, that it was time to let go, and the song was like a message. He passed away just over a month later. The first time an anti-HIV cocktail became effective and AIDS stopped being an effective death sentence was in 1992, just months later. I miss Freddie so much.

I have a friend who was fortunate enough to see Queen live in Europe in the late 1970s. He told me they were well known for always being absolutely professional and putting on a HUGE show, HUGE productions, very well rehearsed but also very spontaneous. When people bought a ticket to see Queen, they KNEW they were gonna see lots of lights, effects, and of course four outstanding musicians giving their best. Notwithstanding musical styles, it was the equivalent of going to see Beyoncé today.

The final and one of the most powerful songs written by Queen. You will see the significance of John Deacon's: I Break Free which was not beloved in the U.S.A. which is ridiculous. I am from there but do not share this view. Quiet the contrary, I loved the picture of them in Queen's Greatest Hits before I ever watched the video. It is absolutely one of my most favorite of Queen's videos. I will treasure these memories of these videos for my entire lifetime. Beauty of this magnitude never dies. John Deacon's: One Year Of Love written for the movie Highlander is a treasure, he has a heart of platinum gold.

Please do his single The great Pretender. Great video also. It’s an Elvis cover. Freddie said he was performing on stage. Pretending. He was not like that when he wasn’t on stage. Also his last video, These are the Days of Our Lives. He knew he looked bad but he wanted to say goodbye.
