I do not know how many times I have watched your reaction to this! This was a fantastic combination of the two, and they produced even greater music. They were in such admiration of each other and the friendship was great. Thanks again for all the reactions!
This was live not in a studio. A few years before the 1992 Barcelona Juegos Olímpicos. Parts of Freddie’s vocals pre recorded toward the end of this song. She sings live with him most of the Concert live too, my family was there
It's amazing that you can notice all the hidden musical elements. I am a classical musician, and I love to discover with you Freddie's genius and his exceptional vocal qualities. Not only is he the greatest rock singer of all time, no matter who tries to imitate him, but he has an aura and dimension that brings him close to the greatest classical masters. You are the greatest reactor and the most sensitive. Bravo!
Magestic!!! ❤️❤️ I absolutely love. Love, loooove this song, I always cry earing this song, well I always cry listening to Freddie. 10.02h Yes it is Freddie🥰 They were fan of each other, so lovely to see them together on stage. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ They are singing together now, somewhere.... ❤️🧡🤎💛💚🖤🤍💜💙 Thank David 😉
Freddie was a master at interpreting songs! He really brings the emotion in the lyrics across. Of course that is what opera singers must do because they are in a play, but he does it for every live performance. I liked your comment about how Freddie must have felt hearing her in the studio for the first time. Peter Freestone, his longterm P.A. told this story. He'd never seen Freddie in tears until the day Freddie had Monterrat's first recording of in the studio on tape. He said "I have the best voice in the world on my music" with tears in his eyes.
I feel that this song and 'In My Defense' are Freddie's two most personal and autobiographical songs. I'm pretty sure when he wrote this, he was thinking about his diagnosis and the prospect of losing his life, his voice, and Jim... it shows how much pain and desolation he was suffering, and how alone he felt 😢😭
Can't begin to tell you how utterly delighted I am with your reaction. Montsy and Freddie had towering respect for one another- in one of her last interviews she revealed that she had been approached to do duets many times since Freddie and turned them all down; I think we can begin to see why. David, you're a legend - thanks so much for this. Teo Torriatte on that list please! ;-)
Montserrat’s niece who shares the same name said “For Freddie, Montserrat was something out of this world. He had such love and admiration for her, he was always watching to make sure everything was perfect for her. When we arrived at the hotel, there were roses in every room, we wanted for nothing.” 🌸 Montsy commented in an interview following Freddie’s death ... “He told me he would have liked to have sung the aria from the Phantom Of The Opera and I told him I would record it - and I recorded it in the studio for him.”
She not only recorded it, she called him when he was bedridden & played the recording for him. I've read that the composer of Phantom had Freddie in mind to star in it. Wouldn't that have been fantastic?❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@kathrynmitchell4344 Oh my .. Freddie would’ve made a fantastic Phantom! Did you know that he was offered the role of Frank N. Furter three times, for the stage show of The Rocky Horror Picture Show?! 🫦
I just KNEW what your reaction would be to this one! Amazing! Guide Me Home is paired with this one on the Barcelona album. It is so emotional especially when Guide Me Home segues into this. A mixture of smiles and teary eyes throughout this David. Musical perfection from two icons. The lyrics speak to me of Freddies struggles towards the end of his life....but what a gift he left behind. I hope they are singing together in Heaven. Thank you for this.
I’m here again to watch your reaction to Freddie- his voice is incredibly powerful and clear. This when he was sick- the lyrics- Freddie again gives us his genius with his own words- my Lord I will never get over Freddie- 💛💛💛 thank you David- again- stellar reaction!
I absolutely love this song. His voice just got better and better. It’s a shame his voice was at its peak toward the end. God knows what that man could have done. I still miss him so much, even after all these years. Please react to Tie Your Mother Down live at Wembley 1986 ( the Saturday 7/12 performance). They sold out so fast that they did 2 nights in a row at Wembley. Also, Play the Game live at Montreal 1981. I love love your Freddie/Queen reactions. They are the best in my book!
I have read somewhere that she saw him tear up towards the end - and offered her hand - and he grabbed it - and didn't let I go again - that was just what he needed to handle the fact that it was one of the last times that he could perform in public.
David, this was one of the most - if not the most - enjoyable reactions that you've done! I absolutely loved your excitement, and how your eyes twinkled, every time they surprised you with something unexpected! I felt your enjoyment as you reacted. Yes, the performance gives me chills too! Thank you so much for being so spontaneous. (from Lise Hull)
Well,David, what did you think of our "golden"boy? He not only sang the score,he composed and brought to fruition to create this masterpiece. Freddie had insight to what was possible. He knew no boundaries for achievement. His dreams came true at his command. Thank God for his fortuitiveness,as we may never have had this privilege.
Love how happy this makes you feel. You can forget all your own struggles just as Freddie did while making this album. He wonders how is he going to go on and who is going to protect him while he is dying.
👏👏👏 We still can feel the sadness in Freddie's voice, although he was absolutely focusing on the life and work. Montserrat was really famous for her smooth high notes.
Love it when I get notification that you've done a Queen/ Freddie reaction. Yet again another great reaction 👍😃 ps I also loved your radio interview 👍👍👍👍
There is an interview with Freddie and Monsterrat where Freddie talks about how excited he was when he finally had her voice on tape and it was now "Real". They made music together, his dream was realized.
I like your intro! Thanks for reacting to this little gem. My favorite of Freddie's 'solo' endeavors were these duets. :) What a voice! What talent in writing & composing & performing. Forever in awe of him. He'll be forever missed.
You have probably heard this already ,bc of age of album. The story ,goes something like this... Freddie adored her ,she never heard of him. Disappointed ,but determined,he asked Mike Moran to arrange an audience ,so he could present his vision of a short of rock opera. They met ,she was astonished ,asked to hear more . He sent a handpicked set ,sent it to her. She asked him to write a song about her beloved city , BARCELONA ,which in 92 would host the summer Olympics. It became the opening song ,closing ,too. And adopted by the city as their country or city song. When I heard this song , I was showering ,bc as a musician ,stereo sound is in every room. It stopped me ,sending shivers down me. Keep up the awesome work!!!
I know that Freddy Mercury had great singing skills; when you showed the reaction of Montserrat to Freddy's singing, really drives home the talent and sorrow of losing both Freddy and Montserrat, both legions! So sad but so happy.
I have watched your reaction to this masterpiece at least 20 times, whenever I'm in the mood to hear this song it's your reaction I go for. Between you and Freddie and Monseratte I'm smiling from the beginning to the very last note 🎵
Thank you David, your enthusiasm and love of music is infectious and very appealing, you are able to interpret the songs for us and show all those little intricacies and gems that we may have missed or not noticed. Thanks again, always enjoy your videos.
This is playback only ... :-/ But - and I am pretty sure, that I comment to this already - there is ... Ok, Wait! How can I go on? *just_kidding The original album was recorded with keyboard, synth, drum-computer, etc. in most parts. Some years ago a "new version" was released. They "remastered" the the album like 10 years and let the music play by a real orchestra and only kept only the original singing part. It sounds so different, but in fact even better (!!!!!!) as there are real instruments involved! The booklet says: "The re-created Barcelona album is being hailed as the version Mercury would have wanted to make at the time had he felt able to work with a full symphony orchestra."
🌟 Oh God, what can I say about "How Can I Go on"? The music, the lyrics... What! A real masterpiece... Its lyrics cut like a knife... "... Is anybody there to believe in me to hear my plea and take care of me" Freddie is seeking someone to share his pain and fear about what is going to happen... He feels helpless and alone and asks from God to help him "Precious Lord hear my plea take care of me"... I Better stop here cause otherwise... 🌟Anyway, about the video... This song is spine chilling itself but in min 15:98 of the video...Montsy is seeing Freddie's tears immediately goes towards him and gives him her hand. On the other, Freddie being very emotional (he looks down) is wary at first but he let it all and holds it tight, that part gives me goosebumps... I can't hold my own tears... 💔🥺😭🤧 Montsy had said it was that moment where she realised that it was going to be Freddie's last goodbye to the audience. 🌟I also want to say that Freddie wasn't singing live that night, the whole performance was playback... He couldn't tell the engineer to roll it back because the event was live, so he carried on like a pro.👌
Simply wonderful. If you liked this then you should listen to the alternate version, where Freddie sings solo. He somehow sounds even more powerful in that version. It personally reminds of his voice from In My Defence, very raw and unedited. I think it was a demo that he showed to Montserrat, and that's why she wasn't in it.
Perdonar mí incultura si no pensáis igual y dar vuestra opinión siempre RESPETANDO. I love your reactions David! Keep up the great work 👍🏻😃 I remember buying the Barcelona LP when it came out in 1988 and was blown away by it! I would highly recommend that you listen to it from start to finish. You will not be disappointed. Then listen to the re-issue from 2012. The drum machines and keyboards have been replaced by a full orchestra which is what Freddie wanted originally. It is a totally different experience.
You may enjoy the companion track that is the other part of this - Guide Me Home. It sits alongside it on the album and is a nice counterpoint. There is no live stage version but you will find a studio version on here. Then Ensueno is the purest operatic duet where both singers sing operatic parts with a piano.
Did you not see Mike Moran conducting with the light saber? He also plays the piano. He & Freddie customized the songs for Freddie & Montsy's voices . Naturally a masterpiece resulted.
Great reaction! I am also in awe of their mutual admiration/love. He wrote most of these songs for their two voices. She was the greatest Soprano of the 20th C. An epic combination. You should react to Exercises in Free Love by Freddy.
Let Me In Your Heart Again, so underrated song and La Japonaise from Barcelona album, love your reactions. Montsy was for Freddie the most beautiful soprano in the world
Studio version is the same as this, but it starts off with another song called Guide Me home which leads into this song. The lyrics and Freddie's passion in Guide me home are amazing.
🥴 Still recovering a week later. Not sure how work went the day after! Glad you're feeling better! 😁 I think that note in Under Pressure might be higher, but it's a good one here. 👏👏
It was a big concert in Spain, however not with just Freddie, I can't remember offhand what it was for, but there are many people you'll maybe recognise, or their music, and this is from the album Freddie wrote for and with Montsey as he called her, they did about three out of the Ten on the album, I think they might have carried on filming some other songs after the concert had finished, there is an audio of the meeting between the two at Garden Lodge, I can't remember what it's on, probably one of the documentaries about Freddie
Wow David you have surpassed yourself that was an amazing reaction there will never be two legends like those two thank you hope you feel better soon take care x x
This perfornance on this duet. Deserves a Jtb video by itself. I heard this song a million times. But your response to these videos. Makes me remember stuff I kinda forgot. Top notch stuff.
I do not know how many times I have watched your reaction to this! This was a fantastic combination of the two, and they produced even greater music. They were in such admiration of each other and the friendship was great. Thanks again for all the reactions!
The most beautiful song from him and Montsarrat !His writing abilities were superb as was his voice.LEGEND!💥💥💥💥🌟

This was the pinnacle of his career and his dream come true. Thank you for sharing your joy in Freddie's performance
He could sing anything! He never gave up! Great song Monserrat loved him. He always wanted to sing with her! 🥰🌹🎤❤️
yeah all one show, Barcelona, this one and a couple others
I listen to this song, and tears come every time.
From Australia, you are one of my favourites, I love your passion for freddie, I always want to jack it back cheers
So unbelievably beautiful what else can be said I bet the Heavens are bursting at the seams with both these power houses singing 💗💗💗✝️✝️✝️🕊️🕊️

I normally hate when people pause a thousand times, but you're killing me here, hilarious, perfect reaction,
The greatest reaction I've seen. This song fills me with joy even though the song is sad. Its so beautiful. They were perfect together.
Everyone should have someone who looks at them like she looked at him....
I’ve read that Freddie’s voice was compared to having the force of a hurricane- 💛
I feel that this song and 'In My Defense' are Freddie's two most personal and autobiographical songs.

I absolutely LOVE your reaction to this !! It's so good to see someone who really gets in to this music!!

To me, among Freddie's great ever vocal performances. And the melody and lyrics too make this one of his greatest songs
You mentioned the bass.
Its more subtle here so maybe why you didnt realise
But John plays bass on this
Freddie Mercury ( and Queen) NEVER fail to amaze me.

Yes, La Japonaise! So beautiful and so unexpected.
Finalmente è bellissimo vedere la tua reaction su questa gemma.... Una delle mie preferite cmq due Regine sul palco altro che...
Absolutamente maravilloso , me emociona escuchar sus voces y como se compenetran...
I believe all these songs Freddie wrote and performed with Montserrat were done in Spain at the Ibiza -
Told you this song was epic lol, Under Pressure Freddie really hits the high note
Aunque en Under pressure hace un A5 no es la nota más alta de freddie , el hacia notas mucho más agudas
Thanks for this great reaction! It was pure joy on your face and it was so nice to see! Made my day!
You should listen to the recording of these two singing “How Can I go On” and Guide me Home as one. Beautiful!
Fabulous reaction, just love seeing them together
Studio version is the same as this, but it starts off with another song called Guide Me home which leads into this song. The lyrics and Freddie's passion in Guide me home are amazing.
🥴 Still recovering a week later. Not sure how work went the day after! Glad you're feeling better! 😁 I think that note in Under Pressure might be higher, but it's a good one here. 👏👏
You can waffle as much as you want . Great reaction and see that enthusiasm . Can look for ,a kind of magic the official original 😊🎧🎤🎸
This is a great reaction to fredd and Montserrat. Ty 🎶🎵❣️❤️
John Deacon on bass on the original 1988 studio version of what this performance is a mime to.
