Just discovered this indiglo function in my Timex MK1 (that is exactly the same model than yours). I bought it a month ago and never noticed about this function. Now i'm happy like a child with new toys 😀. Nice video!
I have two, a green and a black one in resine that I bought at the duty-free in Iraq in 2005. 25 US$ a piece at the time. They both still work perfectly well and both only needed new batteries once in over 16 years! Best watches ever.
I own the very same watch. Love the retro future aspect but it needs to be babied. The case is painted and the crystal is acrylic. More of a desk-field watch.
Nice video. Bought one of these for myself and for the bosses for Christmas last year. Just a quick note -- the case is aluminum, not steel. Looks really good on a black leather strap, too.
Timex Indiglo is an awesome feature, I've had a bunch of Timexes with it. It works best with a light or white dial. I had a white Weekender 40 and that was incredibly readable, night and day. It lit up like a flashlight. This MK1 is special because it's aluminum, it's rare to find an affordable aluminum watch. The only downside to Timex is that while their Indiglo movements are in-house, they're pretty cheap and noisy. The Chronograph watches are quieter, but not as attractive in my opinion. I had to sell all my Indiglo Timexes off, wound up getting a Timex 36mm Camper instead. It uses a Japanese movement that sadly has no Indiglo, but you can tell it's a bit higher quality (and silent).

Timex has like 50 different military themed trench watches, but I think that is the one to get. It has the same case shape, case back, crystal, integrated lugs, and dial layout as the original plastic mechanical MIL-W-46374/McGuyver/Camper from the 80s. The original Camper was available in many mechanical variations starting in 1982, and switched to quartz in the late 80s, and disappeared in the mid 90s. The name lived on in other watches until the early 00s. Timex collaborated with J. Crew in 2008 and released a Camper homage. A 35.5mm "Military" watch in steel with a black dial, with a white dial released in 2010. They had interesting "distressed" dials, used spring bars, and are not currently available new. These are non-Indiglo quartz movements, I'm unsure of the origin. At some point J. Crew switched to the Indiglo Timex movements with more correct dials. Indiglo is cool, but if it has Indiglo that means it's a loud and cheap in-house movement. The chronographs are quieter, but still kinda cheap. It's Timex Japan that pushed for an authentic reissue of the Camper watch in ~2015 originally in a few plastic variations as the "Original Camper". Later released in stainless steel - the one I mention above. These use nicer, quieter Japanese Miyota quartz movements. No Indiglo, and in 36mm with integrated lugs like the original - no spring bars! Many special editions of this watch have been released. At some point, the line evolved worldwide as the 'MK1', with Indiglo movements. Steel cases in 40mm for the 3 hand models and 42mm for the chronograph models. Later released in 40mm aluminum variations like the one you review here. Last year Timex released an authentic 36mm Steel MK1 hand wind model, the TW2U69000LG. The movement is Chinese, cheap, and loud. They sell a 36mm Steel MK1 quartz counterpart, the TW2R73000LG. They modernized the dial a bit for the two of these, moving away from the 1970s GG-W-113 style. They also sell 3 very authentic plastic 36mm variations, the TW2U73500LG probably being the closest to the original 80s watch as you can get. These 2020 watches can still only be found at full price, $85 - $185. I prefer the one I suggested first, it's basically a modern quartz and steel cased version of the original. You can pick it up for under $40 on eBay.
Nice review on the Timex MK1 Aluminum. I just ordered this watch can't believe know one has mentioned this looks just like too me of a Omega Seamaster Vintage 50's the reason I got it. I'm kinda rough on watches desk driving door knob knocking etc how does it hold up?
I order it got it on Monday its alot of watch for what I paid it $26 Timex Mk1 Aluminum with the and sand beige nato strap is worth it very clean I switch the nato strap to a od green nato strap 20mm fits perfect I Highly recommend this watch for a beater watch or even dress up or casual. Reminds me of a Omega Seamaster 1950's .

Great video! Was shopping around for one of these, but ended up getting another Seiko 5 SNK model instead. On a lighter note, the music at the end made me sit up and shout "Radical, dude!!" 👍🏻👍🏻
@@the1010watchclub previously bought a black SNK 809 ("my first auto" 😆) then I fell in love with the beige/cream dialled SNK 803 after trawling through many Timex models. What swayed me was the unbeatable value, even though it was just a different coloured model. Plus, if I changed straps, I'll get a "budget version" of the Longines Marine Nationale (this is really stretching the imagination 😆)

I bought the white faced one today at TJ Maxx for $50 Canadian it’s got the most incredible NATO strap with twin white stripes to match the dial. I would’ve swore this case was plastic because it’s so light and it even feels like it when you tap it but another video said it’s aluminum. I bet that CR 20 16 battery will last a long time?

One of the authorities on the Facebook Timex group told me that my white MK1 is aluminium if the back says “stainless steel back” like yours. If it only says “stainless steel” that means the entire watch is stainless steel

Beautiful machine, very accessible it is very similar to the Hamilton Khaki. I have a T20041 Easy Reader.
The T20041 is a classic. I like that it comes with day/date, I'm missing that on the MK1

this timex mk1 value is so great as well, its indiglo + legibility + light + easy maintenance is top notch
