at 39:30 you talk about Damsels and the virtue of heroism. I think the character should still be able to use the virtue and get the benefit from their attacks becoming magical as i think weapons becoming magical and magic weapons isn't the same. Though I could see it go either way. Main reason i think this is if that isn't the case why can you even buy virtue of heroism for Dukes as they get the grail vow and by that magical attacks by default
Great video, looking forward to the Tomb Kings one. And I cannot wait until you do one for the Ogre Kingdoms, since that is the most interesting faction to me!
I...I didn't...? As I said. Some of the best blocking units in the gane for their points cost. Only reason I left them out of the Errantry list is cause I was going hard on theme 😊
Grail knights magic weapons may come in clutch in any non exile list depending on how we see ethereal used. Exiles do look super spicey though. Hardest thing I’m finding to fit in though are questing knights. Fighting last and losing shields is a big thing for cav.
I know why you started with Bretonnia and I know why it is smart to wait for Arcane Journals, but I am SOOO eager to hear more about your thoughts on Old World and Dwarfs. This will be a series I will be excited to dig into! You always make such great content and your Heresy guides really helped branch out my thoughts on that game as well. Looking forward to the rest!
If you need to stay with GW minis, I would suggest looking at the newish cities of Sigmar models. There is a model in a command box that could be used for a damsel on foot. There is a war machine that would also work as a Trebuchet.
@@blackbriargaming5483 For sure! I did have one question, you mention the Lore of the Lady Magic Missile at one point, how does targeting work for straight line spells? Can you only target a unit not in combat, but if it runs past them and into other units they are hit regardless of target restrictions?
Knights Errantry is exactly how I play them in Total Warhammer 3 with Fey Enchantress. His army list for it is almost identical to my Warhammer 3 comp also. I would take out one damsel and get a Trebuchet or Green knight though
My brother gifted me the brettonian box. Combined with an old warhammer fantasy battalion I had, I suddenly have over 2000 pts, with no knights painted… infantry are done though. I’m just intimidated by all the cavalry and characters for now
39:10 Damsels grant magic attacks. Magic weapons are not the same thing as magic attacks. Dukes get the grail vow included so have magic attacks as default, so if you're right that would mean Dukes can't use the virtue of heroism...
Do you have any suggestions for playing Bretonnians more straight out of the box? I've just bought the army box and another unit of Pegasus knights, but there's no chance I'll be able to afford anything else for a long while I expect. Unless I can buy some reaper or wizkids minis that can proxy in as a damsel on foot or something I guess, though such an act might get me banished to the borderlands for dishonour 🤣 That being said, looking into making a Bordeleaux themed army and trying to work out how I can do that too :)
The list really writes itself 😊 And is nicely balanced. Go Realm instead of Errant. Skirmish your archers. A damsel really is a must against some armies though. Letting them have free reign over magic is a bold choice.
Didn't watch the whole video but what are your thoughts on including multiple Sergeant-At-Arms in exiles lists for your peasant's? I wanted to try a more peasantry heavy exile's list and I think for 45 points multiple sergeant-at-arms would be indispensable for them.
I don’t like the toughness 3 on them. But I like having one in a unit of M@A so he can benefit from horde/warband while being your general at low points
If I have a Character in an outer lance slot, are all the opp fighting rank considered in base contact with that character and can direct all their attacks to it?
I am curious, what is the main sellpoint of the Pegasus knights aside flying? 2 wounds is nice but at more than 50 points it almost feels like a point in armor, attack, or toughness is missing for me. I can see that with the furious charge they can hit hard on the charge, but if the enemy don't break from the charge they are at risk of breaking shortly after that. I have conssidered the Crusader Banner for them but given the lose of control that brings i'm wondering if there's any reason to consider it. What do you guys think, could That Banner be great in a large Knight of the Realm on foot unit with greatswords and the BSB in the unit having the virtue of the impetous knight? or think something else like Virtue of Idalism on him would be better(thosee 2 wounds and probably a sv of 4+ on the BSB is troublesome) I hower like the Idea of charging with a d3+1 bonus range and having 3 attacks with S5 from each Knight in the frontrank. How would you guys make that knight of the realm on foot unit? And regarding knights, I think it's sad that the morningsstar is limited to bretonnia lords, I think they could have been an interesting choise on the knights of the realm on foot.
@StoneTitan For being just a bit more expensive than a basic 6 man lance of KotR, they get better dmg from furious charge + pegasi, (arguably) better survivability and far better mobility.
@@TheSzymax Hopefully, sadly while i've yet to play them, their statblock to me feels like it should have been in the 45-48p range though admittingly I mostly compare them to Ogre sizeed stuff at their point cost.
Duke on royal peg has skirmish, Duke on hippogryph is a monster with close order. Peg has better mobility, hippogryph hits hard. Make your choice an informed one. I, personally, like better mobility; it allows for more angles of attack. Remember that most of the virtues do not pass on to the mounts. Hatred from the knightly temper is about it.
Well....whatever list you go with, buy third party models. If you want 3 (not enough to make a full unit worth talking about) questing knights thats nearly forty notes....or 3 times that from third party providers. Love Warhammer but GW have been taking the piss out of us. Go third party folks ....save yourself a deposit on a house to keep your models in...
This is going to be the greatest series! Thank you!
Great video dude. Lists are nicely balanced and well thought out.

Thank you!! Ogres do seem GOOD. I'm debating whether to do Tomb Kinds or a legacy faction next, which would probably be Lizardmen.
The Peasants honestly look very useful, cheap and with solid rules. I would not overlook them as useful units.

Great stuff!

They really need to be charging flanks hey. I wouldn't put them up against the front arc of an infantry block. That's what the peasants are for.
They smack Cairn Wraiths too
This vid has tempted me to convert up s bretonnian exile list... Another project to the planned army list!
Yessss. Goooood.
I won a box of errantry knights at my last tournament and now im looking more and more into the brets. THis was a great video for ideas.

Thank you!! Dwarves seem so good. But yeah there's no point getting into them yet. But hopefully their arcane journal comes out soon!
@@blackbriargaming5483 I suppose so! I fear the Arcane Journals may come out at a snail pace, but I suppose we shall see!

I got a box of the cavaliers for conversion work. Watch this space!
This is excellent, great work
Thank you!! There's a sea of videos of people just reading the books as 'army reviews'. I try to go a bit deeper 😊

Great review and guide of the Brets! Although it does assume that the models are available to buy from somewhere!
It suuuuure does... a 'How to Build an army' video isn't as interesting if the advice is 'play with whatever you can beg, borrow or steal'... 😅😬
This better be good Charles

In the second list you could save some points by putting the bsb in a unit of knights like you did in the first list
I could. But he makes a sweet unit to assassinate blockers or missile units.

Yep! Good pick up 😊 Had my mate Dean message me about this less than an hour after the video went live 😅 So keen.
your baron will still able to use the virtue of heroism as the unit gains magical attacks not magical weapons just like anyone who has the grail vow

not taking a duke on a hppogryph is a mistake in those lists, you need something to fight the dragons
