  • It really surprised me how many people don't like Oberland Station, or don't know what to do with it. Suppose it can't hurt to thoroughly examine it and see what we can do with it.
    Hopefully what comes out of this will give y'all some ideas for what to do with this place, or give you some ideas for your own builds.
    Thanks for watching.

    I ended up making a thriving community at oberland. Pretty much turned it into a train station as it was suppose to be but post-apocalyptic. medic den, clothing/armor store, wepons shop, sleeping quarters, drug dens, scaving stations trading area/ bar & food, i turned it into a mini city it was great. Never built there before but it made me realize what you can do in compact places

    I'm so glad that people post videos on how to build settlements because some settlements I have trouble making it look nice.

    You should put a floor where she grubs in the dirt and put some gitty up buttercup parts so it looks like she is playing with them

    Plenty of pillar glitching and rug glitching action. Great info about that particular metal wall having a “soft” floor. Ladder glitching junk walls technique is excellent.
    Overall, this video will help with some of the most used tricks to help builders. (Edit- the next statements came before knowing there’s more Oberland build videos in this series; check those out!) But if I’m honest, there’s nothing here that’s Oberland-specific, that addresses the problems that were touched upon in the survey portion that started the video. Oberland is a tough place to make work, it gets raided by groups coming from all sides low and high, and the best place to build is dedicated farmland.

    • @ErosXCaos
      @ErosXCaos 9 месяцев назад

      It wasn’t clear in the video or info section that there’s follow up videos of more Oberland structures that add on. That might be helpful to add that somewhere.

    That is one big barnacle. The only problem is that part of it goes through the crops area. If it is anything like the Slog, there is nothing that can stop those people form doing the farming animations there. Nicely done my friend. See ya in the next one.

    I have built here recently. Not a fan. But I am using a mod which extends the borders of the settlements. I mainly got it for Jamaica Plains, cuz that place is stupidly small for a settlement. Especially as it's a fecking town in the first place .
    Anyway, I like the extended area for Oberland. The mod keeps most of the original borders but extends it down the hill towards the river and that beached orange boat.
    Also, I agree with you about '76. Seems kind of neat. But I am only going to buy it if it becomes single player only. As the rest of the Fallout games.
    That's what I love to play.
    I love your builds. 😎👍

    11:10 first ever Bob Ross reference? 🤷‍♂️😂
    I’m currently in the process of stealing this and adapting it to my needs. I’ve got a decent 2 story barnacle around the main structure. Been getting some crazy snaps through the original building 👌

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  4 года назад

      If you really want crazy snaps, try building from the inside of the tower out--once you're at ground level inside the tower, the walls have almost no collision. ;)

    (1:10) I use Oberland as a waypoint. I usually don't do much to it, because it's "in the middle of nowhere". It's nice to have in a trade network, but there's nothing special to have. I typically make sure it has its necesssary resources, connect it to Graygarden and Hangman's Alley, and then just set it up to handle the raids its likely to face. For roleplay, it's a good place to use the railcar pieces.
    (3:10) In my experience, attacks are usually from the south and west, so I look forward to how you address those issues.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  6 лет назад

      Yeah, that's the thing, if you use GG and Hangman's, Oberland doesn't have much of a point, agreed. And attacks come from three places--up the hill to the south, up from the water to the west, and down the hill to the northeast inside the settlement boundary. (The latter is why "full" attacks will have attackers around the workbench all the time.)

    Great stuff, Sar. Oberland let me down a bit. Not the terrain, but the build area (not limit. I wished the train tracks were clear as well, so we could run freight, or at least pretend to restore it to a real train station. And that one tower you can't remove bugged. me. Confronting Oberland was really the first time I was playing F4 and thought, 'Man! It'd be nice to manipulate the terrain in the build menu!' Dig caves, temper inclines, etc. In the end, I felt a rather simple outpost was the best thing to do with Oberland, and for artillery support, it's strategic. Hey thumbs up and thanks.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  6 лет назад

      Thanks! And yeah, Oberland's got some issues from a number of vectors in terms of "full settlement" but I guess we'll see how this goes. ;)

    I'm not fan of Oberland because it's on such a slope. I dislike all my structures needing to be on stilts from an RP standpoint. If thats the case, why not settle down the road where you don't need to waste resources or have to defend on a slope?? I do like the tower. It's one of my favorite in-vanilla-settlement structures. No clue why; it's tiny and doesn't have a bottom floor. I like barnacling it though. Looking forward to seeing where you take this.
    I was happy to see on 76's wiki page that they plan to add private servers later. IF they do, I would consider it.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  6 лет назад +1

      Oberland's one of the few areas in that region that has a flat, unobstructed spot to plant crops. ;) And it'll be interesting to see how this build goes... I haven't built here in a really long time.

    I'm surprised to hear that news about 76. Having players always be visible on the map will make stealth in pvp useless.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  6 лет назад

      Yeah, they'll just go for "two four-person squads in PA coordinating on Discord" instead. Be a bad time to be a solo player anywhere near 'em, or--if it has fast travel--anywhere in the game. Because it goes both ways; if you know where they are, well, they know where you are, and they know you're alone.

    That metal floor/wall/roof trick was pretty clever. I didnt kniw there was no bounding box on the floor part. Anywho, speed is just fine! Easily followable. U could get away with 3x in some cases but i think u found the right pace. Nicely done. I cant believe how well u built that lil fucker in there. Perfect. And fugly. I think u have the right idea with channel direction. And of course ur welcome. C ya in the next one. Edit: 9.5/10 on pronouncement. Its not an ez name. Thank u Sar.

    One time I decided to remove the original crops and plant something else but the game would not let me put anything down....must be placed in dirt! Well how the hell did the original crops get placed there? However, the section of ground on the left side of the house is great for planting anything and everything.

    God forbid this game let me snap anything. I wanted to use the metal piece you used for the workshop, and i have it in the exact same spot you do, but literally nothing will snap to it, starting to get annoyed very quickly

      I _am_ running a mod that affects the geography a little, but I've always been able to stick it there in vanilla using group select with the pillar. Maybe try a different anchor to see if the properties on it change?

    Hey SarDeliac what if you used conquest or build anywhere to fix places where Bethesda did not put in the most effort. A place that comes to mind is drumlin. Like where do they sleep, and where does wolfgang live he can't just sit next to that diner forever. If I had built that place I would have probably place a small shack or something behind the diner for trudy and her son to sleep at. I might try it myself if I get around to using build anywhere, but ps4 can't do npc real good aside from what uso gives us.
    I think the reason they made it so you can see everyone online is 76 is to try to cut down on people maybe getting spawn camped. Can you imagine spawning if there are set spawn point and just getting headshot from some unknown enemy over and over. I have had that happen in other shooters and it is annoying.

    • @SarDeliac
      @SarDeliac  6 лет назад

      That's an idea, but I dunno, Conquest is cool but not really my cup of tea. I may come back to it if I find an excellent spot that I'd love to build on in my CW travels, but for now I'm probably gonna just finish this one up and revisit it at some future point. And yeah, 76 is what it is--it just ain't for me. :)

    FO76 was a steaming pile of 🐒💩
    I pre-ordered it and returned it after about 20 hours of playing. Awful game. Hated the fact that it was online only.
    Now if Bethesda could make could combine the gameplay and settlement stuff with the writing of FONV, that would be cool. Ill be keeping everything crossed for that considering starfield apparently doesn't work properly either 😂😢
    Quality builds👌🏻
