Gus Hall (né Arvo Kustaa Halberg) was an American Communist politician with Finnish ancestry, a founder of the United Steelworkers of America union. In 1954 he got a sentence for conspiring and teaching overthrow of the U.S. Government by force or violence. Later he ran for US president four times. Supported by the Soviet Union and honored with the Order of Lenin, the highest civilian decoration bestowed by the Soviet Union.
