  • Today I go out to shoot some low light photos using both the Sony Xperia 1V and the Sony Xperia 1IV. At first I was worried the 1V wasn't as big of an improvement as I was hoping, but I think I proved myself wrong!

    Today we take out the Sony Xperia 1V and 1IV for a friendly little lowlight shootout using the main camera. Focused on Auto mode, these are some examples to help you decide if it's worth the upgrade or not.

    Typo at 2:34, the first photo is the 1V and the 2nd is the 1IV!

      0:42 I have long noticed one feature that is found specifically in Sony smartphones: even the lowest ISO does not remove overexposed areas...

      @@chucknorris9091 For the video part I just chose a poor spot and wrong settings. It wasn't filmed on an Xperia though.
      For the photos it was also a matter of shutter speed. I could completely not clip highlights, but then I fear it may be too dark everywhere else. Just a balancing game

    Great work. The improvements are more with the colours I think. Maybe a slight bit of less noise but its not a huge thing like one would expect after watching Sony's launch announcement.

      Thanks for watching! I think the biggest difference is really noticeable at low iso shooting

    Thank you for taking your time to make this video. Some pictures definitely look very similar though I did notice some more detail from the 1V shots and I like its colours for some of them

      Thanks for watching! I usually always have WB on auto even when shooting manual, I think that has a bit to do with color variety as well

    Thanks,very similar looking images , the 1V slightly coming on top in certain scenarios..more future updates will definitely see it improve further as it should with many launch smartphone cameras , let's just pray Sony doesn't neglect us 1 IV users for the time being😂 next stop a video comparison

    Good content as always but the flaring from the 1V seems worse in some occasions. But what Sony should improve in coming Xperias is the Optical performance " Better optics" and camera software "processing" as of the sensors are good enough.

    • @ShibiChan
      @ShibiChan  Год назад +1

      I feel like a lot of people gloss over things like that in many reviews. If I can't point my device in the direction of strong lighting without crazy flaring, then colors, etc don't matter much! Still beats the iphone lol

    I would be interested in seeing a new comparison video with the new Android 14 update on the 1V - seems they have improved quite a bit

      I would love to do this, but I STILL don't have A14 for my 1V and am in the process of listing my 1IV for sale soon, so it just depends on if I get A14 soon or not

    Most companies upgrade their prior phone camera apps, at least for a generation or two. The fact Sony doesn't is telling along with their recent artificial delination between the 1V and 5V with 2x zoom

    • @ShibiChan
      @ShibiChan  9 месяцев назад

      If my 1V doesn't receive the 2x zoom ability by summer 2024 I'm not staying with Sony for Android, I've pretty much decided that already. They do the same stupid thing with their alpha cameras as well, just to create artificial division among more than capable bodies. Miss me with that practice. Plus customer support is by far the worst I've experienced. I've been pretty bitter about Sony recently if you can't tell

  • @MrJules39
    @MrJules39 Год назад +1

    Awesome! To begin with, I preferred the 1iv pics, but after the first few, I soon changed my mind. Will I upgrade? No, as I only bought my 1iv earlier this year, and at present it's not worth it to me. Maybe I'll get a 1V next year. Oh, how are the heat issues, if any. That's probably the only reason I'd swap out my 1iv. Can only record for about 5 minutes on cinema pro or video pro on highest settings before warning ⚠️ light comes on

    • @ShibiChan
      @ShibiChan  Год назад

      Thanks for watching! Heat management is actually much better on the 1V. I finally feel confident recording longer clips with no loss of features or overheating warnings.
      Though I will say my video pro app has been slightly buggy as of the last update. Crashing and not saving some clips

    Just pleased I didn't upgrade from my four to the five,as really the difference to me isn't big enough to justify it,I also downloaded the Sony APK files for photography, video pro, and the landscape, portrait mode automatically changes the same as the five so I'm quite happy staying with the 4 maybe the next Xperia 6 will justify upgrading?

  • @dukiduki899

    Great work, but it seems that you unnecessarily ramped up the ISO on 1 IV most of the time. Since you mentioned that you've done it through exposure based on the screem, I'd like to know whether one's viewfinder is less accurate.

    • @ShibiChan
      @ShibiChan  Год назад

      This is a good point. I actually took the time to turn off auto brightness and set the screens to about the same level.
      In hindsight, I should have just matched their respective settings starting off from base. Although, given the same shutter speed and both at base ISO, the 1IV exposed much brighter. So using only the histogram may be the best method

      Nice video again 👍
      They are both good phones in there own
      Way.. but I do see a slight difference but
      I am not rushing to get the Sony 1 mark 5
      No way remember they might be coming out with the Sony 1 mark 6 now that should be interesting
      Hmm let's see.. many thanks for this.. I am
      From the UK England
      Massive thanks peace my man..

  • @bloodytoad2010

    Your settings should all be the same (ISO and shutter speed) to bring out the differences of the sensor quality of lytia sensor, even though the xperia 1IV have f1.7 vs f1.9 aperture with the xperia 1v.
    Same ISO same shutter speed for both phones till from 100 till 6400. But thanks for the video.

      Ultrrawide is 1/2.55"
      Sony should add camera bump like in Pixel series and put bigger sensors and lenses behind them(atleast for the upcoming Pro model)
