Over the years Warhammer 40K has given us some absolute Banger war cries, and the ones utilized by the Space Marine chapters are some of the absolute best. from the mocking irony of The Emperor's children, The Sinister promise of the Dark Angels, the blood crazed Fury of the World eaters, and the courage and honor of the Ultramarines (and all the rest of them). I love a good Warhammer 40,000 war cry! in this video we're going to take all of the founding chapters of the adeptus astartes and rank them based solely on how good their war cries are from best to bad. we're going to be looking at the Loyalists of the Imperium of man, and the traitors of the chaos Space Marines as well as a handful of lesser known chapters near the end that I thought had particularly great war cries.

You never actually said what the white scars war cry was!!!!!
You’re advertising for smoking, so I cut my subscription. I won’t watch a streamer who would tempt my kids into smoking. Red line crossed.
Thank you for ditching Better Help. They are the worst.
I liked it when those dudes said " I am the warhammer" and then proceeded to 40k over everyone.
When the emperor said “this must be some sort of heresy.. horus heresy.”
When the marines are in space and 40king everyone
It's warhammering time.
Personally, my favorite was when 40k sang "I wanna be your War Hammer!"
It goes very hard
FOR THOSE WE CHERISH WE DIE IN GLORY. FOR THE LAMENTERS
“Hate is the surest weapon!”~ Battle cry of the Marines Malevolent!
Very para rescue esque. 'So that others may live."

"Death to the false emperor" was first spoken by night lords during siege of terra
It was spoken by Sevatar to be precise
Wasn't it Istvan 5?
@@scarecrow2621 maybe it was
I’m not sure to be honest
It was spoken by Sevatar on Istvaan V.
Sevetar did say that, tho the Horus heresy lore was written long after 40ks lore was firmly established. IRC Horus rising came out in like 2006. So lore timeline wise, yes sevetar said it first. Real life timeline wise, it was a black legion thing
@@krzysztofzacharjasz8469 Sevatar never made it to the siege of Terra so it was definitely Istvaan
In the Blood Angels' defense, they do have something of a second warcry. An outsider wouldn't get it, but if you see one coming at you with it and a new paint job, you know you're screwed:
'HORUS!!!'
There's also a number of variations of the "by the blood" warcry. "By the blood we are made" being the most common one
“VULKAN LIVES” *stomp stomp stomp* will be forever engraved in my memory
The better one is a call back "Eye to eye!" To which you respond "Tooth to tooth!"

Red corsairs: I don't care who the imperium sends I am not paying my taxes.
they are not pirates.......they are the 13 colonies
buthcer the masses, evade taxes
Honestly "THIS SILENCE OFFENDS SLAANESH!"
Is such a great war cry
Becuase they say it, on a chaotic, extremely loud battle field, which will already give a normal person tinitus.
And then unleash a weapon so loud that being in front of it just straight kills you from how extra loud it is
So you're in a scenario that's as loud as you can handle.
And these guys are saying its too fucking quiet
"Into the fires of battle, onto the anvil of war" is a brilliant warcry, because while the Salamanders tend to behave as if they are very emotional (saving kids and all) as they use fire based weapons (which imply emotions), they are pretty calm and collected in their battle tactics, as they were nearly wiped out and need to be careful. They fight relentlessly for humanity and between saving a planet or the planets populace, they will rescue the people even if it means the planet falls.
They don't throw away their lives to save humans, they put themselves in-between the danger and the human. Because they can take the relentless beating, they can take the scorching fire. They don't see themselves as superior beings (unlike some of the Space Marines) but rather as protectors built to save humanity as it is.
The Salamanders do not scream their lungs out, they do not run head first into battle without a thought, they instead fight as brothers, not just to each other, but to anyone else who is ready to lay their lives down to defeat the enemy. They find their strengths and use them.
And if you are brave, if you stand your ground and withstand the onslaught, you have been through hell. And you've come out stronger. You have shown you are braver than the Space Marines, who are custom built and equipped for war.
"Into the fires of battle, onto the anvil of war". You stand, you fight, you fall, but above all else, you always get back up.
If anything, the Salamanders' way of war is terrifying for the enemy to face. Using what amounts to terror weapons as standard issue, and then fighting calmly and methodically, incinerating their enemies one by one or by the thousands all at once. Imagine an enemy having to fight thru that, then charging into close combat, thinking you're attacking them where they are weakest, only to find out the Salamanders are also the physically largest founding legion and really love giant ass hammers too.
@@Scudboy17 every weapon they wield is a handmade masterpiece, made by each member to fit their person perfectly. So instead of mass produced chain swords or rare and ancient powers words that don't quite perfectly fit the wielder, as it might be slightly too long, too short or the grip not big enough or too big, the Salamanders forge their own weapons and constantly improve their craft. The Salamanders might not be the best at close combat, but their weapons are absolutely top of the line, custom made by them and for then, and the fact they know every molecule within makes them extremely powerful warriors.
AFAIK, a lot of the Space Marine chapters tend to spend their time praying in some form, or training. The Salamanders tend to not pray exactly, but instead seek spiritual connection through their work, which tends to be very varied. Part of it is forging and if they can't do their best, they fail. So they reforge, not just the equipment, but themselves.
And by building strong connections with their home planet and their people whom they come from, they are granted zeal to not just the Imperium, but to every person within it, as each citizen from the lowest serf on a distant agriworld to the high lords of Terra is part of their heritage and family.
It also does help enormously that Vulkan was a massive fucking beef cake with a heart of gold, making the Salamanders also fucking massive.
*WULKAN LIVES*
Just gonna note, the Salamanders using level and reasoned battle tactics is a thing that Vulcan had to TEACH them, because before that they were Lamenters-level selfless; they were nearly wiped out when Vulcan found them.
Screaming the flesh is weak when fighting Necrons gotta make em think

The best part was when they punctuated that with the song "I Wanna Be Your Warhammer!"

Emperor: “Disease shall not take them”
Death guard: “yeah so that was a fuckin lie”
Disease did not take them, Disease *kept* them.
“All is Dust”.

Genuinely one of the most fun videos I ever got to edit, AND YESS BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD NUMBER 1!!
FOR BLOOD! FOR ANGRON! AND FOR KHORNE! KILL! MAIM! BURN!
My favorite shall always be these two:
“For those we cherish, we die in glory!”
“Kill! Maim! Burn! Kill! Maim! Burn!”
Horus during the seige or Terra: "ITS OVER JOHN WARHAMMER, I SHALL BECOME THE 40K!!!!!"
Dark Angels quote should’ve been “We are coming, We are death.” It’s a straight up promise not a threat.
The problem is that this can be applied to almost every other space marine chapter and warband
@@saddrifle9997 yeah but they actually say it in this way in one of the books.
@@stoops187specifically it was members of the Dreadwing chanting “We have come, we are death.”
@@saddrifle9997Considering the Dark Angels came up with it when their legion was named "Angels of Death", they get a pass. They are the first for a reason.
"You got me fucked up" is low-key a good Weshammer battle cry
I can also imagine “You gonna get fucked up” being yelled by an eight foot tall Wes in full power armour
“On my mama, do that again-“
"We are coming. Look to the skies for your salvation." -Kayvaan Shrike
For the Raven Guard, I've always loved this quote. Can either be hopeful and uplifting if they are coming to liberate you or dread filled and terrifying if you are their prey.
Another great one is: "Wherever you tread, tread lightly. We are closer than you think, and our blades are sharp."
Death or victory, brother
I can't belive that the War Cry from the Carcharodons Astra, ".........................!!!!" isn't on this list. It's so simple, so powerful, so iconic and incredibly catchy!!
You fool, everyone knows the warcry of the Carcharodons Astra is just the Jaws theme.
I know right, the others without a real war-cry are pretenders to the throne of a shark silently killing you from the darkness. 🦈
"FOR THOSE WE CHERISH WE DIE WITH GLORY" is and always will be the realest one. No grandiose speech about the emperor or chaos. Just the believe that there are things worth dieing for.
Some of the jokes in this script had me gut laughing. Hearing Wes say "You're scaring the hoes." is gold
I think realistically the world eaters war cry is just *frothing sounds*
Chihuahua intensifies
If every faction had a Mascot dog, world Eaters has to be a chihuahua
@@leguan278or a dachshund… iykyk
ruclips.net/video/666JSlJwJGE/видео.htmlsi=S-qLCtZ3tVFk3dZ6 the average World Eater
And the emperor’s children would realistically be *moans*
by far my fav is the heresy Dreadwing chant - "We have come. We are death." Starting at a conversational tone and coming to a crescendo as the first orbital strikes land. Fucking. Chills. Every. Time.
One of my favorite parts in the books, the Dreadwing is one of my favorite parts of the Dark Angels
I imagine word bearers and noise marines get along great, cause it would just turn any war hymn into a Sabaton song.
"Let the Galaxy Burn!" is the coolest line I've ever heard
Especially the way Horus says it
The Iron Warriors battle cry is honestly S tier. If you remember that they're master in siege, when you hear a voice coming from a mountain of metal, carrying a riot shield bigger than the mountain itself, marching at a fixed pace and you hear "Iron within, iron without", you will shit your pants and pray. But also, the complete one is a battle cry, a mantra and a reminder of what to do and how to be a Iron Warrior. Goddamn amazing.
When Horus shouted “I have the 40,000 warhammer, now to conquer the age of sigmar” I got chills. 10/10 best war cry in GW’s ip.
Warcry™
my favorite is the salamander's, "into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of WAR."
Blood for the Blood God isn’t even the best World Eaters war cry. That goes to Betrayer’s call of KILL! MAIM! BURN!
You're out of line...but also absolutely correct
No, it’s Gretchin screaming “p-p-please.. no more kicking~ :( ” in Soulstorm.
True, Elric wants his back. Bloody and souls for Arioch anyone?
it's not a world eaters battle cry that's kharns specific battle cry
“All is dust” is also supposed to be intimidating. It’s a creepy ominous muttering whisper carried on the warp before they come
I love it when the Emperor's Children mockingly scream "For the Emperor!"
It's so snarky and probably makes every Black Templar incredibly mad so it's perfect.
Replacement battle cry ideas for some of the lower ranking chapters:
White Scars: "On lightning we ride! From lightning we strike!"
Imperial Fists: "Crush yourselves against us, we will remain!"
Word Bearers: "Our victory shall be carved into your flesh!"
Space Wolves: "We are His executioners, and we will deliver His sentence!"
Blood Angels: "Paint the skies red with our vengeance!" or "Vengeance upon swift me!"
Death Guard: "Pox and plague. We are the end of all." or "Come share in our gifts."
The Imperial Fists could go with "We are the Anvil!" 🤔
@@EslizogatoThe fists are defense oriented
Death Guard could also be, You cannot stop Decay and Death.
Imperial fist:
While defending: we are the first wall of death! We are the uncrossable line that you shall not pass! Let them come for We are the last sight before they die here! Let them come to their doom! For those we serve!! No retreat! No surrender! For dorn and for terra!!!
While sigeing: Pain is our salvation!! Spreed this gift willfully and rejoice with joy! For we are the golden fist of god!! And none can shield from its judgment For there no shelter from its justice!!
No surrender! No quarter!
We all know “we float for maccrage” is the best
Also while not a war cry every closing line Oculus Imperia says at the end of every video just slaps hard “AVE IMPERITOR GLORIA IN EXCELSIS TERRA!”
Ultramarines getting a Lil of rg humor
The Imperial Guard’s war cry of “FOR THE EMPEROR” before getting turned into mincemeat is my personal favorite.
I’m going to defend hydra dominatus here.
It’s warcry that suits but he the legions purposes, it works when yelled in the heart of the battle, and whispered while slipping a knife into someone’s back. It can be yelled with loud and vicious fervour, or whispered with cruel malice.
The hydra also evokes the legion itself, with the mythical beast being present in every level of their iconography, their legion logo or the scales on their armour. The hydra is the single thing that best describes the legion, a great serpent with more heads than you can handle. And the second word, dominatus tells you that you’ve lost, wether that be fear on the field of battle as your charged by astartes, or as it dominates your final thoughts while you choke on your own blood in a place you thought safe.
Hydra dominatus is easily an A tier war cry imo, it’s easy and fun to say and works for whatever purpose the legion needs it for. It’s a tool to inspire fear and cement the inevitable victory of the legion, a promise of your defeat.
I am alpharius, hydra dominatus.
Side note: I’m gonna bash “we are returned, death to the false emperor” the second half originates from the night lords. Its first ever speaker was sevetar, first captain of the night lords at the meeting of the traitor forces before the drop site massacre. Thus if any legion deserves it, it’s the 8th.
Bah. None of these compare to the Omnissiah's glorious "01000001!"
Beep boop beep beep boop ding
*toaster ding*
Hey the iron hands are definitely a close second!
Just hearing bender going back in time
Praise be to the Omnissiah
To me the Deathguard being heralded only by the buzzing of flies, tolling bells and the slow but steady pounding of their heavy boots is much cooler than any war cry.
I have a oersonal warcry for my salamanders. "ignite the fires of death, and embrace the warmth".
As a Space Wolf player, and WesHammer fan I was expecting this. I will have to say though I started liking our war cry even more when listening to a book when the wolves are fighting alongside the guard, and one wolf pointed it out to another that when you evoke Russ's name you can see the guard's morale increase. That Russ will be the first primarch they name after shouting for the emperor. Dunno. I get it why you don't like ours, but people can be wrong :P
Its funny, that "Death for the False Emperor!" can be used for loyal spacemarines, because there is only one true emperor - its The Emperor, so its sounds like they fight all tirants and pretenders, who claims rule over the Imperium.
I like yelling
"WE'RE KNIGHT OF THE ROUND TABLE, WE DANCE WHENE'RE WE'RE ABLE" when I charge as the dark angels
“We have come for you” is my personal favorite
This one was really good Sir. Felt like just hanging out, just Bs-ing about 40K.
One of my favorites
I haven't watched the video yet, but if the Lamenters are not at least A tier, I will unsubscribe solely because I love them and they deserve to be treated well.
EDIT: FOR THOSE WE CHERISH! WE DIE IN GLORY! (Yay! They're A Tier!)
Having this on in the background, I was pretty disappointed when I realized this wasn’t a list of “best war crimes.”
That list would be hours long in the world of 40k
*Marines Malevolent staring intensely*
Death To the False Emperor was a Night Lord war cry spoken first by Sevatar of the 8th Legion, it's a Night Lord war cry but used by all. I would say it's more popular than even Blood for the blood god & skulls for the skull throne.
White Scars: Gotta go fast. Speed, I am speed. Pedal to the metal. Get the lead out. Floorit? FLOOR IT!!
Ricky Bobby was a White Scar... "I WANNA GO FAST!"
I disagree, chanting their holy scripture in possibly even the tongue of demons, hailing the gods is probably a very intimidating image. Its also not that they chant it mid battle as shown by the WB trilogy, but as said, shortly before battle or before clashing ranks. They also chant it to induce into their mortal meat shields a frenzied state.
Yeah, in my brain, rank upon rank of Word Bearers chanting heresy to the beat of drums while advancing would be pretty damn intimidating.
@@Haplo699g Agreed. And not just that. Imagine its a host of not just Marines. Before them run tens of Thousands of frenzied Cultists, in the skies fly chaos furies, on the flanks or even amongsts the cultitsts, summoned demons. In the Back, giggantic Demon engines. Its one hell of an image.

To add something on to the Salamanders war cry: It's a description of how they forge themselves into warriors. When you are forging steel you first put it into the fire to heat it up and then you put it onto the anvil to shape it. They are forged by plunging themselves into the fires of battle and shaped upon the anvil of war. Just like any good weapon.
'None shall find us wanting.' - Some Magpies
Not gonna lie, the opening I heard was,"Who loves a good war crime?" Admittedly, I do have hearing loss, but I can't say hearing something like that in a 40k video would be a shocker
I really like this format. I think you nailed it
Love Wes's darker tone and cursing hope he continues with that style !
Good video, but as one of the few Raven Guard fans I must say that "Victorus aut Mortis" makes perfect sense for the Raven Guard as a war cry if you look at the history of Corax as a youth on Lycaeus, later renamed Deliverance. Being a part of a resistance group of slave prisoners that fought for freedom "Victory or Death" makes perfect sense.
The unbreakable litany gives major sith code vibes

As a fan of the Space wolves, I completely understand your rating of their warcry. It's not exactly creative, but it gets straight to the point, just like my favourite totally-not-khornate-berserkers charging straight into enemy positions.
Flesh Tearers?
Excellent to see that you're evolving your style more. The humor and cursing is actually a big level up for you you should definitely continue down this path
As a Raven Guard fan, victorus aut mortis is very fitting for the chapter. It sums up the pragmatic approach the Raven Guard has to war. The war cries are variations or hate, loyalty, honour, the Raven Guard focus on one thing. It's also a war cry largely used after the prelude of subterfuge and sabotage, when the legion is full ready to commit to battle. It's a statement that the Raven Guard are now fully committed and there's nothing you can do to stop them. Solid B tier.
Got to love the FTL music in the background
Had to scroll down and see if I wasn't the only one who heard it. :)

"The bussy be tight" is my favorite
Thanks for the video Wes! Always appreciate your takes.I love the background music. FTL soundtrack is great, as is the game.
Weshammer, could you make a video dedicated to the Imperium's Power Armors, of the Power Armors of the Space Marines, Adeptus Custodes, Adeptus Soritas and Inquisition?
I will never not get chills when I hear “ FOR THE EMPEROOOOOOOR!!!!!.” Watching the marine mid chainsword swing in that animation
You forgot to mention the greatest Imperial Fists quote of all time. "No..." - Rogal Dorn, Primarch of The Imperial Fists. it's so good it's almost a battle cry
My favorite is when the Imperial Fists all said " It's fisting time. " then they won the Siege of Terra
Better War Cries in my humbly opinion.
1. Salamanders: "FOR FIRE! FRIENDSHIP! AND HUUUGGGSSSS!!!!"
2. Raven Guard: (Not a War cry but they would remain silent but in their hearts they would say.) "fear the shadows"
3. White Scars: "I feel the need. the need for spe..." I mean it should be. "Swift as the Whirlwind! Strike like the Thunderbolt! "
4. Space Sharks: No war cries but their soon to be former prey would simply ask. "Why do I hear JAWS music?"
5. Space Wolves: I think a simple good old fashion howl is best but. "Let the Murder Making Begin!"
6. Blood Ravens: "MINE! OURS! GIVE! GIVE! GIVE!"
Blood ravens are skaven successors confirmed
Blood Ravens: "Kaw-Kawww Mother F'ers!" While mounting a surprise attack..... While flankers steal things unnoticed.

God damn, Wes. Every one of your videos slaps. Thanks for all you do.
I think this is a great vid topic and format, I really enjoyed it.
Sons of the Pheonix: “In the fires of battle, we rise!”
"its just fucking boring" that quote he said made me realise how little he actually swears in his dialogues . It made the swear come out more powerful.
I like the Darktides „Blood for the Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne” that the zealot shouts. It’s like, sounds almost heretical because it’s just a twisted phrase of chaos marines but it kinda works well when you think they’re prisoners and were already condemned
“For The Emperor, For sanguinius! There is no more beauty to be had from life, so let us then seek a beautiful death!”
“A beautiful death! For the emperor! For Sanguinius!”
This is from Commander Dante’s speech during the Devestation of Baal and imo it’s much a better and more fitting warcry for the BA.
Problem with the Grey Knights is that if you heard the warcry, you have to die. And you shoud not know that they do, because they secret. On the other hand i think the demons are qiute terrified when they hear "im the hammer"
"... they shall know no plague nor disease..."
The plague marines: "allow us to introduce ourselves"
Love the video enjoyed the break from your other style vids
during the siege of terra, the great khan rode out, wrecked his bike, got lost in a cloud of miasma, and then surrounded by death guard (who were intent on slaying a primarch early in the siege). Sanguinius ends up coming to save him, but before that - while he was surrounded by warp-twisted death guard and trying to fight them off with an infected knife poisoning him from being stuck in the back of his knee, an unnamed white scar comes flying in on a gravbike at like 100 km/hr, screaming, and jumps off the bike, using his body as a projectile to knock the death guard back and give his khan some breathing room. He was promptly killed before he could get back up.
The white scars are so great lol
That scene was amazing! I especially loved his interaction with dorn before this where he's like, "there are still people out there, I'm going to rescue them"
