I like this house because it feels like a centuries old vampire has lived here forever and tried updating with the times multiple times over the years, but never spent any time figuring out how to do it well
I liked that too, it makes sense storyline wise or maybe it's just EAs excuse. I also like how his underground vampire lair was kinda cross shaped

That's been my theory as well. I also like the idea that it's done kinda strangely because he's too cheap to hire someone else to build it and he had a lot of time on his hands and he just built it himself. Perhaps the shape is so strange because he got tired of working on X room or whatever.

I'm testing on a new save with no mods (I usually have Varyloths Vampires Stop Pestering Me mod still installed - but I thought you didn't need it anymore, in terms of actual in-home attacks). If I'm wrong, then you might want to grab the mod
Unpopular opinion: i actually kinda like vlads house, it fits his character (weird old vampire dude)
Definetly one of the better ea builds, doesn’t feel empty and quite detailed for an ea build.
Same me too... I like lilsimsie builds but this renovation ended up looking very homely from the outside, earlier it was weird and uninviting which fitted Vlad so much more.
Late to the party, but I actually agree with this as well. To me the renovation didn't make it seem very dark/old/vampire. It just became a mansion.

I never paid much attention to the premade houses when I first started playing (I'd always just make my own), but I recently got bored of that and started playing some of the premade celebs and man was I shocked at their houses. Thorne Bailey's house in particular is unbelievably bad. I remember when I first started renovating it, I thought I must have accidentally deleted the toilets myself and just forgot about it for some reason, lol.

I feel like the reason this house is so weird is because it's possibly inspired on the idea of Dracula's castle, which was I believe was supposed to be very weird and unsettling but also a trap for those lured inside. That could just be my wishful thinking, though.
Yeah in the original bram stoker Dracula, the house was more like a death dungeon then an artistic mansion. I guess In the sims it had some accuracies
It is also very realistic for old castle, because all the previous owners tried to add there own touch to it.

i feel like they maybe tried to model his house after bram stoker's dracula's castle in his novel, Dracula. thats the only thing i can think of like the basement for sure gives me those vibes
I don’t think it was only Dracula’s castle. Old European mansion often were reshaped/renovated through the centuries until they were a mix and match. Often you have corners that don’t make sense until you learn about the houses past. ☺️
Vlad has three bathrooms to accommodate for all of his lovers: Johnny Zest, Don Lothario, Geoffrey Landgraab and Bob Pancakes. That’s why he has all the bathrooms - silly simsie
You can prevent vampires coming in by clicking on your front door, select "No Trespassing", and select "Disallow Vampires".

I actually love this renovation, I want to put that in my game. Vlad deserves better. Imagine a storyline where he meets a younger vampire lady/gentleman and is reclusive at first and is embarrassed of his house but they come over one day and they have a romance story, awww, like, idk, that's cute isn't it? And then they clean up the kitchen from the cobwebs and invite humans for "family dinners" 😂

i’m trying to do a thing where every generation of my new sims family is a different occult sim and then the last one is human (yes this is just me wanting all the graves) and vlad kept trying to break in so i just decided to go into cas and make him not so terrifying and now my sim and vlad are together so

fun fact : vlad died in my first play with the vampire pack for being in the sun for a long time and i never start a new game so i never saw him again ! seeing how much you hate and talk about him made me start a new game after 2 years just to copy him and paste him in my current save lol.

I built Vlad a castle I based on a real one I found from Estonia. Very Count Dracula vibes.
I gave him a new lot though, and I'm going to build an Addam's Family inspired house there cause its surrounded by grave stones, and the Goth family is gonna go there.

Every time I start a new game Vlad gets himself killed by the 1st generation. He will always show up at events or my house and stay outside too long. I've had him die and my sims' wedding before. I think it's hilarious.

I wanted to play Vlad once and tried to give him a glow up (and realized he's supposed to be a young adult which bugs me) in cas but he ended up looking like young Ville Valo and actually I'm not even mad.
I need a full Vladdy Daddy Manor overhaul 😂 Alsi good story line is its a “rental lot” people come and stay in this beautiful historic home and vlad is just chillin in his coffin downstairs waiting for nightfall for the feast of thy lovely neck
Vlad's house is really the scariest build in the Sims 4. It's not because it's a vampire home, its because the thought of renovating it makes me break out in a sweat.
When cottage living comes out, I’m gonna do a storyline about how teen pre-vampire vlad fell in love with someone who lived there, but then turned into a vampire and moved alone to the vampire world so he wouldn’t hurt anybody. Since he is immortal, he had to watch the love of his life die. Years later, his daughter shows up at his door and tells him how her grandma gave birth to her just a few months after he left. Vlad reconnects with his daughter and she moves in with him.
I kinda like the house...😅 But the renovation is awesome, just like always🥰

I’m glad you kept the original vibe of the house AND the living room balcony. Personally, I like the big open living room though and the balcony seemed really neat over that. I also kind of miss the promenade on the back of the house 😅 always love your renos!

old victorian houses were usually odd-shaped, because they used to extend the houses as the years went by, adding new rooms and extensions (the weird bumps you mentioned)

I think the reason why Lilsimsie is my favorite builder is bc she always builds for the community more than for herself or to make the best looking build(aesthetically) possible. Her builds arent overwhelming. Rarely are they 100% complete, you can still play with the builds and work on them or edit them to add your own flare to the came. Its the reason why I would have a whole world of her builds than any other creator.

One of my favourite Kayla moments that has to do with vampires which is any time Lilith or her brother, who eat the like plasma fruit, show up and she's like "ah! no!"

I honestly didn't hate Vlad's house originally, because I love spooky stuff, but the rebuild makes so much sense and really hits actual Victorian style housing styles so well! Definitely going to be adding this in my game

I think they were inspired by medieval castles which are always chaotic and asymmetrical, also vampire's house must be easy to get lost in yk. BUT it should be still comfortable to play in it and they missed with that absolutely

I’ve revamped Vlad’s house to house four vampires and two spellcasters before. I didn’t change the exterior too much, but put in some extra rooms upstairs, expanded the kitchen a bit and built a second basement so the spellcasters could have space for cauldrons. Oh, and I also evicted Vlad’s horrible backside - I decided his mansion was clearly wasted on him. I like what you’ve done with it though.
