Semaj builds are my favorite. My parents laugh because when we drive by new modern buildings that are black and white with a color splash I always go "Looks like a Semaj build!"
@@han-ek8pm I tried doing feng shui. My parents went through a whole phase and we have a book, but like all the directions my stuff is "supposed to" go in always makes no sense for my bedroom floor plans. In my old room I got my bed how it's supposed to face but if I do that in this one it goes between two doors in a really dumb way
It’s not feng shui so much as our natural fear of predators with beds. Subconsciously people tend to like their head to be furthest away from the entry point of a room (could also be furthest from a balcony/large window) because you would have more time to react if someone came in suddenly to attack while you’re sleeping 😁
I've watched many simmers build but there's something about Semaj's builds that just always amazes me. I always want to live in the houses that he builds. Cozy and modern, but not overclustered. Just right 👌
they did it so people could have more interesting and different homes, they said they were considering going smaller but builds at that point tend to look all the same. this way there's different floorplans and personality to it.
I mean, putting a shower the same tile as the sink is saving space, but not realistic or nice really..ppl want nice houses after all, 32 is small and can look very nice. ppl aren't gonna play in a 2×3 house..
People can make smaller home, but even now the 32-tile cap is pretty restrictive, even with the new Murphy Bed. If you want a double bed in the 32-tile home, there's so much you have to do to make it functional for more than 1 Sim. I have one build where I had the shower, tub, and sink separate, and in my other build I combined the shower and sink - which works, but in real life, that would just be weird. I wish they would have made the max cap 36 tiles so we can have just a LITTLE bit more wiggle room with Micro Houses to better fit a family. On RUclips, plenty of people have done the tiny/micro home and have one or two kids.
LOL! I am priding myself on that, too! It's pretty easy to forget, though, and there's so much moving things around you have to do (particularly with beds, dining, and bathroom) that if you get all that to work it's so exciting and you forget "what else do I need here?"
Thank you for actually play testing your builds! Its so annoying when you go to the gallery to download a build and it doesn't work because of routing issues that the builder didn't notice. And unfortunately I've noticed that a lot of sims youtubers don't play test lol

Great build there :D There are so many tiny living tips that we use in real life that could go for this pack, like: - Have only one sink in the house, outside the bathroom and kinda integrated with the kitchen. - No dedicated work desks, just place a laptop either on the dining table or outside picnic table. - Put as much stuff outside as you can, I even like to build an outdoor kitchen for my outdoorsie sims. - The less walls you put up, the cheaper it is and the bigger it feels. - Make use of the medium-height walls if you want the space to feel a bit more open, and the smaller-height for a cozy effect. Higher-walls are usually too much and tiny spaces will just look odd. - Place as much stuff as you can on ceilings and walls (shelves, lighting, TV, cabinets etc). - Make big roofs and place stuff under it so it's sheltered! (Well I guess that's more like a Sims only tip). Well, ok now I wanna see an off-the-grid Sulani micro beach hut! That should be easy I guess.
Might be because sims tend to put dirty plates down IN their keyboards when tables are used as desks. Seems to happen whether it’s a desktop or laptop, and the plate sort of disappears until it begins to stink/give the sim an uncomfortable moodlet. Or they are liking the relative novelty of a one tile desk. 🤷🏻♀️
In my simself save I have a whole desktop computer on one end of the dining table just because my simself is realistically still too broke for a living room with any actual space in it
That little indent where you put the hedge could be a good spot for a few plant pots if you wanted a small garden that's sheltered year-round without building a greenhouse.
Nah, you can see when I remove the dresser, he sleeps there no problem. Or I maybe cut that out? But that was definitely the issue, bed assignment doesn’t force them to one side if you specifically click the other
Diagonal tiles was really clever. Something I will keep in mind while building. I think it turned out to be a very cute house too considering the rules of the challenge.
0:46 Nah, there's no benefit in going diagonal. The game calculates area correctly, so 1x1 diagobal square counts as 2 tiles. But you can go over the 32 tile limit by half a tile, so one diagonal corner somewhere can be beneficial.
I don't even put stoves in my "large" (rarely build above 64 tiles interior, so still count as tiny) builds now. Had one Sim who set it on fire every time she cooked, even though she had decent skills. Since then, everyone lives on salad. No time to be dealing with tense Sims all day, lol.
Maisie T My sims pretty much live on salad and fruit salad. It’s the safest options, as they don’t cause fires and don’t make your sims fatter or skinnier. They’re also easy/cheaper as my sims always have produce on hand.
Best use of space and creativity that I've seen with this challenge. This build feels like a normal size build; not claustrophobic, which is amazing. As always - this is phenomenal!
So I guess having to wake up super early for school actually helped me accomplish something. Finally being early for a video! Also the house looks amazing!
You used tiny living stuff, so it made it much easier than Kayak's original build, but you're still the master builder of the community, can't argue there 😂
5:45 Great thing to do is to try uploading building to the gallery - it will give you the real price for the estate. Which is the real factor for that 12k challenge. 7:20 Oh nice I got recognised. 8:54 Its kinda annoying that we cant use trims without floor on top of the building. I feel like they should change it considering how tile counting works. 9:35 You did really good job, especially with how the shape works out. Someone probably would be able to put more stuff for Toddler or pets there for sure. This challenge really is the worst mostly due to money limit. Cause those small houses can be really lit with good garden. 13:20 Being honest with you if I was in your position - I would sacrifice TV. No one really watches TV anymore either way. Lol. That would allow you to put something else there, probably. 13:25 Oh wait trim did work for you... I wonder if it is because of the small walls? 15:00 I mean kick out the TV, put mirror somewhere, put litter box and bowl there. And if you have enough money - you could always use the wall TV. But then again - who uses TVs these days. I wonder if you would be able to put vaccum cleaner there too... To be honest Murphy Bed even, if it gives bigger area for Sims to move around, is still not the best option when you consider that it still needs extra tiles around. I mean it is the best double bed with option of being nice sofa, but also two beds are probably more useful and allow for better space management. Especially when you want to make two bedrooms, as separate thing. Still - again, it is actually possible to pass this challenge, including using Laundry Day stuff to make it more realistic. My recommendation to make the shape of the house better - is to put empty tiles inside the house. Which not only gives you better ability to light the house with windows from both side of the room, but also if you find enough tiles to put doors to it, you could get enclosed garden area, or just put some bush there for extra decor. And making glass roof over it, also makes whole house look more interesting on the outside - with the window in the roof like style. And of course if you use other packs - University's mini fridge is the best piece of furniture for the kitchen, cause it is cheap, but gives you extra area (similar to Washing Machines) to put some decor and usable items like radio or plants or that breadbox (from Parenthood?) for full immersion. On the other hand you technically wasted some tiles in the centre of the building. But then again when I tried to make it fully packed - Sims just started going out of the house to talk or do some interactions. Which was hella annoying in full-blown storm... So maybe Murphy beds are still the better option. Especially when you want your Sims to still be able to Woo-hoo. But I also did put Washing Machine there so that's probably on me.
ive played sims 4 since it came out. today is the day that i learned the bath work either direction. i thought the arrows had to face where the sim got in
About the dishwasher/sink thing - I don’t think this would work too well in this layout, but it you have a stove, sink, fridge, and island counters, you can have functional counter space, eating space, and sinks are cheaper than dishwashers

Hi James! I just wanted to say although the thumbnail did not do this build much justice, the inside is great and it was really smart of you to use diagonal walls to better fit everything in! I've been playing around a lot with the micro homes and they are such a challenge! I didn't consider using diagonal tiles, but it looks like it works great, and you fit in a LOT! Great use of space :)
I have a challenge for you, you mentioned fung shui in this vid, can you try to make a home follow basic rules of fung shui? Harder of you add a twist like mini home or split living?
Since I'm working for a window manufacturer (that's definitely not the right word but I dont know it in english) i can tell you, that there are windows for 200€ and some for 2000€ and they look the same but when it comes to the frame and glass there are soooooooo many options.. so it's kind of realistic, having some super cheap and some super expensive windows
I say Live mode with a long eye sound. I'm from the US but live in Australia. James and Deligracy both are in Australia and say Live mode with a short sounding i (in, it,). I think it's because they're from Australia. Technically either way is correct. It's a culture choice. I think of it as when the Sims go live. As in the show is now live. (Eye.) But they think of it as now the Sims can live in it. I guess. 🙄
I did my first micro in Sulani so they could have an outdoor kitchen. I just put a roof over ground with terrain paint that looked like stone. Even in areas with worse weather you could put a little roof over the ground out back to have a covered area for pet stuff like the litter box. Put a fence around it if you want. Just leave one section of the fence open so it doesn't count as a room and then block it with a bush, rocks, etc.
That's acually a really pretty little house! I might have to borrow the design lol I've been toying with the idea of moving 6-8 sims on to a large plot of land and building individual houses for them to live in, so it's more like a small 'town' than one big house. I don't have the tiny living pack, but if only one sim has to live in each house, this design could still work well
since dream home decorator and bunk beds have been added (and for some reason work better for tiny homes than the furniture we got with tiny homes 😂) you should make more tiny homes! i think a challenge where you use the modular cabinets from dream home instead of walls to make a house would be funny as well!

I've been playing around a lot with the micro homes and they are such a challenge! I didn't consider using diagonal tiles, but it looks like it works great, and you fit in a LOT! Great use of space :)
Semaj vs Murphy bed makes me giggle😂
😄 i just love how seriously he takes his builds 😄
it looks like he had move objects on, when he was moving the stove and the cabinets
I have a challenge for you, you mentioned fung shui in this vid, can you try to make a home follow basic rules of fung shui? Harder of you add a twist like mini home or split living?
I don't think you're supposed to use alt placing either. It does look good though. I love this challenge.
Live mode, I always thought it was called live mode 🙃
I say Live mode with a long eye sound. I'm from the US but live in Australia. James and Deligracy both are in Australia and say Live mode with a short sounding i (in, it,). I think it's because they're from Australia. Technically either way is correct. It's a culture choice. I think of it as when the Sims go live. As in the show is now live. (Eye.) But they think of it as now the Sims can live in it. I guess. 🙄
11:06 looks like you have assigned the left side of the bed to the sim, try to assign the right side of the bed and it would probably work :)
Your sim won’t sit on the left side of the bed because your sim is assigned to a side!! Tap the bed and say assign right side to 😂
semaj out here using colors on these walls what a king 😫🔥😳😳
SEMAJ REALLY OUT HERE ADDING COLOR TO THAT DRESSER WOW
"can't use move objects" uses move objects the entire time
This looks great! Thanks for the builds lately!
You should be able to remove floor, then click again and build ceiling without also rebuilding the floor.
Just leave one section of the fence open so it doesn't count as a room and then block it with a bush, rocks, etc.
finally early for once!!! James always post while i’m heading to school which i am.
I remember the comment section on the reveal video saying that nobody wants this. I feel they made this stuff pack just for James :0
So this is what it feels like to be first 🙂 “pretty cool”
That's acually a really pretty little house! I might have to borrow the design lol
I've been toying with the idea of moving 6-8 sims on to a large plot of land and building individual houses for them to live in, so it's more like a small 'town' than one big house. I don't have the tiny living pack, but if only one sim has to live in each house, this design could still work well
Drives me crazy when you don’t use shower/bath combo 😆
Felicia Santiago I hate them so much
I'm so confused. Your voice reminds me so much of Draw with Jazzas voice😂 your laugh, your humor ... everything
You sound exactly like Jazza
The Australian Artist.
It's messing with me ;-;
Wait hold up - - - I legit thought this was Jazza
This video just popped up on my recommended and I was so confused I thought I was watching jazza for a moment there.
"which TV I'm gonna use" as if he ever uses any other TV than that one lol
But did it exhaust your creative flow is the real question
since dream home decorator and bunk beds have been added (and for some reason work better for tiny homes than the furniture we got with tiny homes 😂) you should make more tiny homes! i think a challenge where you use the modular cabinets from dream home instead of walls to make a house would be funny as well!
Its 6am and I should be sleep... BUT JAMES is much much more worth it
Niceee!!! 🤩 I make my tiny house too ID: gooldenway
