28 years of being an automotive technician...I replaced my timing belt on my 2001 RD1!
    Shocked after it(aftermarket belt)broke after 15000 miles!
Thought for sure I bent valves! I ended up finding my original used Honda Timing Belt(105000 mile) (still in the bottom of the garage can in the garage)
It started right up and is still running!!!
    THANKS FOR POSTING THESE VIDEOS!!!

Love your vids. Helped me redo front end. I've got a nuisance P0303....misfire cylinder 3. But it only happens once in a while, usually after sitting a bit and when first starting to drive. Clear the code right away and it drives fine with no code. No misfire.
My thought is to swap injectors and see if the misfire shifts with the injector. Maybe it leaks a bit?
Or maybe a leaky valve seal that drips oil in the cylinder when parked?
    Thoughts?

Ok I have a question I really hope you can help with. I changed my distributor and put it back in time but it runs perfect in park but when you put it in gear it doesn't want to take fuel and it won't go over 1,000 rpms. Can you help with this.

Thanks so much for your videos! I own a 1997 RD1 and your videos had been my source of knowledge to fix it! I have two questions: I have a P0441 code and i know is the faulty purge valve, but I can't find it, do you have one I can buy for you or where to find it. I will really appreciate your help! I also replace all five motor mounts and is still very shaky, any ideas?

I bought a 2001 CRV with 200K and replaced the entire A/C system and replaced timing belt, other belts, plugs, wires, head gasket and now the transmission is gone. I've flushed the trans and solenoid. Overall, I've got $4,500 in this car. I've never had a CRV but I really like this car, it's very versatile. Should I put a new trans in or just cut my loses??

love the 1st gen honda crvs! also I got a question. so my crv (01 fwd 175k) has an overdrive issue when going into 4th. at 40mph the car shoots down in rpms and shakes like crazy until i give it enough gas and it eventually knocks it out back to normal revs and the faster i go (past 45mph or so) the car seems to drive okay. taking my foot off the gas pedal while going around highway speeds my whole car jolts pretty rough. some people say its a clogged internal trans filter but I know that involves a whole rebuild pretty much. so that said, i was wondering if you've ever rebuilt a 97-01 crv transmission and if so do you think you'd ever make a video covering it? i got quoted $3400 for a rebuild at my local transmission shop Lol but anyways i love your videos man you have helped me and so many others bring these cars back from the dead and turn them into good reliable daily's :-)

I don't mess with auto transmissions

    • @robertdiehl9003

I have same 99 crv that had same trouble in past few months in N.J. with transmission issues. Very mechanical and jerky shifting transmission. I removed driveshaft to make crv primarily fwd increasing m.p.g. from 21 to 28 mpg but most importantly eliminating that sudden jolt when letting of gas at highway speeds. Seemed like truck was going to flip over and topple over violently when driveshaft in because of tiny wheelbase and all 4 wheels trying to do equal speed. 2nd issue was transmission shutter around 35 to 45 mph going from 4th to 5th gear. I figured out in mind that the two drain & refill of dsw-1 trans. fluid weakened trans by removing the friction material needed to shift so I went to auto store and bought $11.00 Lube guard friction modifier in red plastic 2 oz tube. Let me tell you than in 4 minutes and 5 miles later- transmission shifting 92% better instantly... Overall, 1990's transmissions are hardworking but pain in the ass to deal with because of that stupid " grade logic" junk.... My 2 cents

so that stuff seemed to help lower the shutter pretty good but it kinda went back to its old self but I found a strange fix with my range sensor. moving my range sensor to where the D light is off but to where the P, R, 2 and 1 lights are on, seemed to have completely fix my transmission issue. I no longer need to turn off overdrive and there is no jolt /shutter taking the foot off the gas and it seems to shift better too. I think maybe finding a way to adjust the shaft would be next idk if that’s possible but i’m gonna look at it. i also replaced the sensor but that didn’t do anything I think it’s the shaft itself.

Looks like our poor crv has gone beyond what I can afford to fix. She’s been such a good car but the engine (my friend says it’s the heads) just isn’t happy. I don’t want to send her to a junk yard,I want her to have more adventures even if it’s just being part of another car. Any suggestions how to sell as either a mechanics special or parts car?
