Honda CRV 1997 is one the best utility car in the world. I have travelled world over many times and I could see the car is still running. In Japan the car is still on the road in many perpecture. Japanese usually discard their car after 5 years, so imagine a 30+ year old car still on the road in Japan. I have one . My car overheated 3 X until the engine stop while driving with fizzling coolant. Cooled down until the temp is normal. Fillup the radiator water. ..Off you go.
Thanks Jose. I've never had a clue about cars but thanks to vids like yours I'm feeling much better about trying to fix things. Cheers, will give it a crack.
🏆Perfect Video🏆 Thank you so much. I loved the way you stayed calm and gave us all the step by step info👍 Now I feel like I'll accomplish this with flying colors🙂... Thank you🎉
In case someone is wondering, the specs for tightening the thermostat housing screws is 12Nm, for the radiator fan switch 24Nm. Nm is Newton-meter, do the conversion to beaver tail wiggles when your click-thing is in the scale of non-scientific beaverpowers.
Thanks I just picked up a 97 CRV and I think the thermostat is stuck open it was 25°f when I bought the car and it barely got up to a third the way on the temp gauge.
Bro one the best video see do right need do my 200 Honda CR-V what you think the best tesmostato for it where can buy it got any link Iam Massachusetts cold need one good cold thing thank bro good jod
Just nip them up, they aren't particular tight in the first place. I took mine off on my 2001 CR-V and it didn't take a lot of force to remove, even after 21 years of being installed. You can easily tighten to 12Nm with just a socket set.
I don't know why he changed his, but the reason I'm changing mine is because the temp gauge has started to drop to cold when driving, even when there's definitely coolant in the tank. I'm hoping it's the thermostat and not something else.
@@MannyMarvelous actually in the end it wasn't the thermostat at all, it was the hose pipe. Apparently that had really badly deteriorated. I think he also flushed the radiator. I ended up taking it to the mechanic ias I had to get a Warrant of Fitness (New Zealand requirement every six months if your car is pre 2010) so I got the mechanic to look at it then. In the end I'm glad I did take it in because I probably wouldn't have picked up the hose. Check out your hose and radiator if you know how. Good luck.
@Ben Colombia what hose & what problems was your car giving you I have a 97 crv that’s blowing white smoke under the hood temp gauge is high! Any suggestions?
Where you buy it I buy my for aban auto parts got the 170 degrees thing is ok don't put. It yee no let me now got buy the original like much cost than s much video good jod
Still driving a 1997 CRV. It just won't die 😂. This video is just what I needed. Thanks much!
Give it a 2" body lift with spacers above the springs, put some big tires on it and shred. Thank me later!

Same boat here, and I do have the tools.
Thank you , My Crv has been sitting since Monday 7/13/20 , been told to drive with no thermostat but I think I'll be replacing it instead ,
None works too
Did you drain the coolant from the radiator? Tht was a lot of coolant that came gushing out.

Thank you so much
Drain it first…then you won’t get the waterfall of coolant all over the place!
Should I drain the coolant first
Yes lol. Idk why he would rather have coolant all over his engine by doing it this way only to have to refill it amyway.
Hey what are the torque specs for the housing bolts ??? Jk lol 😂 thanks for making the video man 👌🏻
That'll be 12 Newton-metres.

Why did you change it? What was it doing ?

My CR-V was loosing coolent and a Technician had suggested I should change the thermostat fist because it might be stuck.
@@benthompson2205 Mine is doing the same. did you have any luck?
