I have a 00 cr-v and it's a SE. I love it. I got it from the original owner a old couple that used it to cruise the beach in the summer and get around in the snow in the winter. When I got it it had 163k and lookes brand new inside and out.
I just got an 01 crv with 195k on the odo. I absolutely love it. I fitted it with a 10 inch android radio with the nav and backup camera and gave it a valve job. It's a beast.
I'm not sure if you would call this a feature, but on my previous 97 Crv (currently driving a 2001) it had this. While loading it for work, I threw a pair of steel toe cap boots in the front footwell (right hand drive as in the UK). When I went to leave for work, the car refused to start, just turned over. I had the moved the car just 10 mins before so was scratching my head as to why now it won't start. Turns out, under the plastric trim near to the gearstick, if you reach up under it, scratching the backs of your hands as you do so, there is a small switch, press this back in and the car will start again! Some sort of impact engine immobiliser. My son thought this funny to kick the panel once when I went into a shop so when I came back out it wouldn't start again!
I have one best little SUV ive ever had. It's an awesome vehicle. Plus Honda made it official, that first gen RD1 Crv well be a collectors car. So value we'll go up on these little SUVs in yrs to come
Well, I have owned mine for 3+ years and didn't know about the bed. I'll have to wait to check that out because we got about 3" of snow and are to get more tonight. But here in Colorado if you don't like the weather wait 10 min it will change, Wednesday it will be in the 50's. Great channel thanks for the information. Now I have to wait to change out headlight bulbs, but have to wait till Thursday.

I have the 2000 EX. In addition to the features in this video there is a container inside the rear door and a fairly hidden drop down storage box at the bottom of the console below the ashtray.
I have a 2000 CRV EX that has 250,000 miles on it that my sister (original owner) selflessly gave to me over 13 years ago. I love this car so much and anyone that gets in the car with me quickly realizes why. I have had 2 mechanics tell me that if I was to get rid of this car that I would regret it. Thank you for your informative videos on this amazing car! Keep it up! 🙌🏻
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO🙌 I’ve been trying to decide if I should buy a ‘97 CRV with quite a bit of miles and this made me feel even better than I already was about it!!!
man, great videos on the CRV. I've got a 2000 first gen. Great car! Your videos have helped me tremendously in getting this car in top form. Soon I'll be putting in new sway bar end links to see if the knocking/rattling sounds go away.
If the sway bar links are worn out or even just a little loose it will rattle so loud it's embarrassing. Buy top quality End Links because I have had problems with aftermarket links stripping the cheesy Allen Head fasteners used to secure the lower attaching nuts. Love my First Gen RD1 LX 😎
Lol the table i was cleaning out the vehicle last year and I found it 😅 I was so surprised Wish I had known that a year earlier when I was going out with my mom did a lot of driving and had no place to eat 😂
I have a 99 Honda CRV. Bought it 2002. Has had some issues like breakers, exhaust, normal car stuff. My mechanic in Ohio couldn't believe how long this car went on original battery, sparkplugs and a few other things. He helped me take care of it. Now since I moved to three states away my son-in-law is my mechanic and he is also does diagnostics on cars. So my baby is in good hands. I knew about some things, but will need to check out for the rest. Thanks.
I just got me a ‘98 CRV in great condition, the interior looks virtually untouched. Some high schooler owned it before me and put a lift kit and luggage rack on it, and swapped out the spare tire on the rear door for a metal gas can. I actually really like the look of it. Plan to daily it! If I have any repair issues I know what channel I’m coming to for help.
Holy Moley! I've had my 97 for 3 1/2 years, and only knew about the table and the space under it. But I thought the space was just for storage, not a cooler! And the beds! That's amazing! Thank you so much! Also, in the cideo about the problems with first gen., I have the front driver's side window that doesn't open. I'll have to try the thing you tried, pushing the switch up instead of down, lol. Also in that video, I was hoping you'd mention the brake light switch stopper that falls out, so the brake lights don't turnoff. Apparently there's a ton of videos about how to put one in, but none of them relly shows them putting them in, either that, or they put the camera at and angle where you can't see what they're doing. I cn't find the hole they're talking about that it goes in, or the button that it stops. 8'm a 72 year old gramma, ok? And besides that, it's impossible for me to get under there to be able to see it, so I have to feel. Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying. Thanks so much for this video, though. I gotta go out and look at my bed and cooler now, lol. That can wait till tomorrow. Too cold tonight. Oh yeah, subscribed!

theres a tab pull thingy in the middle of the back seats, sometimes it might have dropped underneath the back seat, if u pull that chord it releases the back seats to make a perfect bed straight n better then the beds u made. if chord is not visable its underneath so reach in down in the middle till u find the lil chord to pull. it realeases the front section of seat toward the front chair n then u lay it down on top n makes a perfect bed

@@hondaresource One thing that I noticed mine has and I didn't see you showing that, it's the power outlet in the back, I don't know how much power it has but I found it interesting that it has that
omg I almost tossed that storage tub under the passenger seat. It was just sitting loose on the rear seat when I bought the car. It looked so big that I thought surely it didn't go anywhere on my 2000. Actually I did toss it, but thought better and retrieved it from the dumpster just on a whim that MAYBE it went somewhere on my Honda. Thanks for NEWS I CAN USE!
I got a '01 SE as my first car in high school, and I still have it now that I'm in college. I love my car so much I don't think I'll ever get rid of it (barring an unexpected event of spontaneous explosion). It's got 180k miles on it now and I'm pretty confident I can get another 100k easy. The BEST camping car and daily commuter. The town I'm living in for school has a lot of rich kids, and a lot of my friends with newer beamers or mercedes still like my car better than theirs. Honda knew what they were doing!!
As for the pull-out cup holders I drilled them out with a hole saw. For the center section, Walmart has a center console I pulled out the flip down and put in the center console. It has a lockable section 2 front and 2 rear cup holders that will hold a 32 Oz. Cup from here in CO. Loaf - N- Jug.
Yep, I love the design of my 2001 Honda Crv so much. I was looking into buying a new Honda CRV two years ago but I was turned off by the new designs and decided to stay with my 2001. I forgot if they still have the shifting stick behind the steering wheel (probbably not). I love the space's efficiency; especially, I need the shifting stick behind the steering wheel and love the empty space in the middle, in front of the cup holder. Great rewiew! Do you have advice on how to keep my CRV for a long time such as how often I should change fluids, etc. Some one told me it was a waste of money after I changed transmission fluid at 10 year mark (the car battery failed for the first time and I got nervous). It's beem another 10 years now...Also, I heard that there is no need to change the oil every 6 months (I don't drive much) if I use Mobile 1. Any advices?
I would change the oil every 6k miles if you are using mobile 1. Just keep up to date on the stuff like timing belt, spark plugs, etc and you should be good.
I ended up buying a 99 LX from a friend out of desperation. It's quickly become my favorite vehicle of mine, ever. Haha. People don't seem to understand why. ESPECIALLY after I'm coming from a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. After having owned both cars, I feel insulted by the Crosstrek. The CR-V's visibility, ride quality, firm and precise trans, the sound and feel of the buttons and switches, the interior aesthetics, the functionality of everything. And of course - the hidden table!
Currently have 2000 and 2008 CRVs. Had a 99 for about a year that was given to me as a "hand me down" from my son..drove it for a while, but had some problems....went to my local repair shop and ended up giving it to one of the techs...his wife is now driving it and loves it. 2000 has 181K and 2008 has 111K. The 99 had about 250K.
You missed the compartment below the pull out drink holder on dash. I had my crv a few months before I found it its easy to miss so makes it a good hiding place.
I made my own door holder from a piece of pvc pipe slit down the length. I didn't know they came with one, but it doesn't surprise me. I'm in the processs of swapping out the steering rack...a PAIN to have to pull the transfer case!
Hello, I have a 01 CR-V LX, second owner and I truly love it I'm slowly turning it into off-road mods. I have a question about a button on the upper far left that's next to the air vent on the driver's seat side. Do you know what it does I've been trying to figure it out?
@@amador4417 it's the cruze control switch. The blue light indicates that it's on. If you press it again, the blue light goes off, and your cruze control is off. First you need to press this button (blue light on), then set the speed with the two buttons (up and down arrows) on the right side of the steering wheel, right under your thumb.
Thanks a lot. I'm considering buying an early CR-V and this video helps a lot. I was not aware of any of the features you mentioned. Regarding the red one with the bad paint, it seems that red paint tolerates the sun worse than any other colour (I should know, I'm in AZ).
I bought my ‘98 EX new in Dec. 1997, and still have it. It’s been great over the years - some major surgery along the way (rebuilt transmission, in particular), but still an amazingly reliable car. I did know about all of the features you described, but I admit I didn’t know about the “bed” feature until about two years ago, when I kind of discovered it while cleaning the car out. (“What *does* that lever do? Oh. Oh…”😯) Was this described in the user manual? I’ve lost that, so I can’t check. I’ll have to go see if I still have the rear door brace now. I’d forgotten about that. Thanks for the video!
Finally picked up a 99 lx 5 speed night before last night and first things I looked for were the table and lever and I have both!!! Also have the passenger seat tray as well

One thing You didn't talk about was the hook on the table, Ive always wondered about it (Maybe to hook it to the car in winds ????) and the back seats have a tab on the cushan and you can pull them up and make more room in the back as the back rest also moves forward.
Must have been something offered in other countries or added aftermarket. Nothing like that here in the states
I just got a 99 CRV 5SP.
I found the picnic table . I want to thank you for showing us the fold out bed👍
Awesome! I'm glad to have you here
totaled a 2012 focus and now I’m in a 2005 CRV with even less miles and I’m more than happy , thanks for the video learned a ton
Welcome to crv life 🤟
This made me want a CRV, and it would be cool to take camping.
They are super cool man!
I have one best little SUV ive ever had. It's an awesome vehicle. Plus Honda made it official, that first gen RD1 Crv well be a collectors car. So value we'll go up on these little SUVs in yrs to come
It's is beast in snow or almost any terrain. I live in the Pacific north west so weather gets pretty bad out here.
Honda element would be better
@@imtheonehero9305 no. Better in areas sure. But ultimately different, not better
Proud ownmer of a 1998 CRV 366K+ miles Glad I found your site!!!
Glad to have you here
Well, I have owned mine for 3+ years and didn't know about the bed.
We really enjoyed Colorado when we came last June
We've had a 1st gen CRV for 20 years and had no idea you could do that with the seats. Amazing.
I'm glad you were able to learn something about your car!!
This very cool, I have a '98 model and I know some of the features but you blew my mind with the bed part of the seat
Thank you!
Bro I have a manual 99 and it’s a beast. I live in Hawaii and ramble this thing anywhere almost. Hunting fishing camping , tow my ej1 to the track loaded with tools. But I didn’t know bout the seats turning into a bed. Thanks for the knowledge brother. Btw love the green dragon 🐉
Just picked up an 01 SE, these are awesome. Can’t wait for spring to load the kayaks up & go camping
I have the 2000 EX. In addition to the features in this video there is a container inside the rear door and a fairly hidden drop down storage box at the bottom of the console below the ashtray.
I do have one.... 1997 lx ..Been using it now for almost 9 years....
Lovely car ...been through a lot and still going...
Greetings from Chile 👍
Awesome
I have a 2000 CRV EX that has 250,000 miles on it that my sister (original owner) selflessly gave to me over 13 years ago. I love this car so much and anyone that gets in the car with me quickly realizes why. I have had 2 mechanics tell me that if I was to get rid of this car that I would regret it. Thank you for your informative videos on this amazing car! Keep it up! 🙌🏻
That's awesome
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO🙌 I’ve been trying to decide if I should buy a ‘97 CRV with quite a bit of miles and this made me feel even better than I already was about it!!!
They are great vehicles.
man, great videos on the CRV. I've got a 2000 first gen. Great car! Your videos have helped me tremendously in getting this car in top form. Soon I'll be putting in new sway bar end links to see if the knocking/rattling sounds go away.
Awesome man
If the sway bar links are worn out or even just a little loose it will rattle so loud it's embarrassing. Buy top quality End Links because I have had problems with aftermarket links stripping the cheesy Allen Head fasteners used to secure the lower attaching nuts. Love my First Gen RD1 LX 😎
It will definitely make the car more quiet. My car rattled like crazy until I replaced the sway bar links
Lol the table i was cleaning out the vehicle last year and I found it 😅 I was so surprised
Wish I had known that a year earlier when I was going out with my mom did a lot of driving and had no place to eat 😂
Thanks.
first gen trailblazer cupholders have rubber silicone inserts that fit into the crv center cup holders, works great for drinks!!!!
heck yeah! Maybe I can make a follow up if I get enough of these!
@@hondaresource if I traded you mine you’d have a whole series lmao. Thanks for your contribution man, ya killing it!
I actually just posted a video on the pedal stopper!
@@hondaresource Whoa! Thank you! Gonna check it out! 👍🏻
Wow, I Have a honda crv 2001 SE and I didn't know about the seats folding back . I am planning to go camping now. My honda crv was stolen once last Year but now I put the stick on the wheel. Thanks again! For the information
Awesome!
never knew about tailgate holder. awesomeness! i have a 1998 honda crv with about 206,000 miles if i remember correctly. rt now have abs light and low fluid in brake reservoir. have my manual and enjoy keeping track. wish u lived closer. thanks for all the videos. inherited from my mom in 2003 or 2004. she drove one year before she stopped driving at 76 yrs. she bought for her 75 th bday in 2002. cool demo of lay down seats. dont think my 98 has that option. enjoyed seeing u demo how it works. thank u. 7.29.22 friday updated comments. i am going to ck again for handle. i guess in the past i never finished this whole video. thanks again. cool differences. got it!
thank you!!!
edit 8.14.22 sunday do have levers for lay down seats. thank u again!
theres a tab pull thingy in the middle of the back seats, sometimes it might have dropped underneath the back seat, if u pull that chord it releases the back seats to make a perfect bed straight n better then the beds u made. if chord is not visable its underneath so reach in down in the middle till u find the lil chord to pull. it realeases the front section of seat toward the front chair n then u lay it down on top n makes a perfect bed
this bad boy is popping out on the facebook market and sells quick . I heard about good things about this first gen crv . bought one and will pick up soon.
Just bought a used CR-V now am here and subscribed
My 1st gen crv has almost 400,000 miles with manual transmission. Just the best car ever but the salt in the NE is killing it.
Just got me a 2000 ex. Learning a lot from your videos. Keep it up man 🤘🏻
Awesome!
HEY! how’s it holding up?! I don’t have enough service rn to watch the vid yet so reading through the comments is making me excited to get my 2000 ex !!
Yeah I knew about all of them. But it's cool to see them being shown to anyone that didn't know. I have a 99 RD2 lx fwd.. all I wish for someday is to get my hands on the front mud flaps and the folding rear seats 😂😂😂😂
The door holder is a nice discovery, didnt even know they had that. now i need it lol
I just inherited a first gen from my grandpa, I knew about everything but the door holder and the bed feature. Mines an ex so I'm gonna check when I get off. Good video dude!
Thank you! Welcome to the crv life!
gonna change out my trans tomorrow. thanks for the videos helped me out a lot over the last couple years!
Best of luck man!
Yho, thank you for this video. I am about to shop around for a CRV !😀. I will look out for these treasures, especially the hidden table, hahahhhah
The CR-V RD1 is the best. I have videos on my channel beating it up and it still keeps going. I bought mine to have a off-road buggy and now use it as a daily. They go on forever apparently 😂
Heck yeah man
Holy jam! These cars are sick, mine totally has the umbrella in the back door, in the rectangular compartment w a twist lock! I did not know about the seats laying back tho! Wicked vid, thank you!
Your videos are awesome! Very detailed and well explained I’ve learned so much about the cr-v I’m picking 1 up next month, and I’m already addicted 😂 hope your having a awesome day!
Good luck with your new crv!
loved the video man, I just got 2000 CRV, I'm really excited to check all the features you showed, I should get it next week.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@hondaresource One thing that I noticed mine has and I didn't see you showing that, it's the power outlet in the back, I don't know how much power it has but I found it interesting that it has that
Yep, they all have that
omg I almost tossed that storage tub under the passenger seat.
That's awesome, I'm glad you hung on to it!
They are pretty dang good
As for the pull-out cup holders I drilled them out with a hole saw.
@@hondaresource Thank you!
@@hondaresource would you change out transmission fluid, I have 215k miles
@@vipkarl yes, you are never going to hurt a good condition transmission with new fluid. Just make sure you use the Honda stuff.
@@jermdawg2805 thanks Mr dawg!
1st Gen CRV are just GREAT!
Thanks!
Welcome!
The 99 had about 250K.
awesome!
You missed the compartment below the pull out drink holder on dash. I had my crv a few months before I found it its easy to miss so makes it a good hiding place.
Indeed I did. There are a couple things I missed
Excellent video, the CRV is an awesome vehicle. Purpose built and durable. Thanks.
I made my own door holder from a piece of pvc pipe slit down the length. I didn't know they came with one, but it doesn't surprise me. I'm in the processs of swapping out the steering rack...a PAIN to have to pull the transfer case!
Yeah, definitely not a fun job
ho perso il cassetto sotto il sediolino della mia rd1 che ho da 20 anni. sono disperato. grazie per i tuoi video! sei grande
I absolutely love this video!! I learned ALOT about my first gen.
That's awesome!
Thanks for this man. We had no idea about the table. Going to look into replacing the arm on the tailgate so it stays open
Glad I could help
That cable at the end of the table hooks up to the ceiling near the third brake light and holds up the table whilst inside.
Yep. There is a couple things I missed
I don’t understand the purpose of the hook and cable. Why would you need it?
And why would you want to hang your table from the hook with a cable? For what reason?
@@GTVAlfaMan to have hands-free access to the cooler/storage well beneath the table when it's stored in the car.
Hello, I have a 01 CR-V LX, second owner and I truly love it I'm slowly turning it into off-road mods. I have a question about a button on the upper far left that's next to the air vent on the driver's seat side. Do you know what it does I've been trying to figure it out?
Cruise control master switch?
@@hondaresource is that what it is? Because when I press it a little blue light turns on underneath the button
Yes. Red fades the most for sure
Thanks!!👍 I learned several new features! I have to check them out on my 1998 CR-V!
Maybe you have a few
That's awesome! I just bought a 99 from it's original owner last week
The "bed" and other features that he shows in this video are described in the manual.
Thank you, you helped me get the most out of my CRV.
Glad I could help
Finally picked up a 99 lx 5 speed night before last night and first things I looked for were the table and lever and I have both!!! Also have the passenger seat tray as well
So many Hondas and the integra and rsx man this place is gold to me
I have gotten rid of quite a few, but I still have about 20 Honda's sitting here.
SNAP! This video kinda took off. If you guys would share this video or any others on your social media, that would be greatly appreciated!
Just bought a green CRV EX. Thanks for all the tips.
Good choice!
I have a 96 and I don't know that it has the bed option, I'll check in the morning. Also didn't know the trunk space was a cooler, I use it for a spare and my Jack and lug tools. Great video!

I recall there is some wiring in the rear left (uk spec) of the boot\trunk area for trailer lights also. Oddly rear parcel shelf an option only.
Many thanks for the valuable information. I saw the diffrent videos and found it very useful. I am from Ethiopia. Recently I bought Honda CRV 2000 model. In our country it is very difficult to get spare and how can you help me to get spares for my CRV.
Hi, great video on first Gen CRV.
Bought mine in NY for a winter car.
Put $$ in front end…has 190,000 miles.
NOW check engine light is on. Think it’s about the O2 sensor and an evap problem.
Any tips?
it could be a couple different things, vacuum leak would be a cause of both.
Gotta click the gas cap at least 3x after filling up to make sure it's tight. Common route to O2/EVAP issues
buying a second rd1 crv just becasue of the bed feature, long hauls make it feel like its a maybach :D
I have been wondering about the back seat handle . I knew the seats went into each other but not like that. Thank you
great video, thanks. i just discovered the secret fold out cup holders on the back seat doors. do you have any tips on installing an original Curt 13314 trailer hitch on a 2000 crv? seems like the tricky part is threading the bolts through so maybe a strong magnet or wire? ty
They come with a special wire to fish the bolt through
@hondaresource Got the original Curt tow hitch on Offer Up for $40 (woohoo! 🎉) so it didn't come with the kit. installing it tomorrow, don't have the kit so rigging it but watched videos & bought all the bolts etc I think I'll need. Hope it goes well, wish me luck &🤞🏽 ty :)
I love my 01 CRV the paint even holds up better than newer cars
I don't see many paint issues with them besides the red fading to pink
Good informative vid! I wonder if it's possible to do a back seat swap on my 01 LX with the folding bed seats from one in a junkyard?
Yes you can!
Just found your channel today and I have been watching all your videos! I really like the Channel, I have a Honda HRV second gen, you should do some videos for the HRV! I tried looking your mobile business up, I couldn’t find it. Do you guys still have it? It is a great idea especially back in Covid times when no one wanted to get out the house.
I bought out my partner, changed the name. It's now Everything Brakes LLC
Love my cupholder from crvguards. Best purchase ive made. I didnt know about the cooler feature at all.
Also my 97 lx has the dark grey and teal confetti seats from 99-01. The interior wasnt swapped as it was owned by 2 old ladies. Wonder why that is?
I have no idea 🤣🤣🤣
97 cr-v for now. After a year of having it, put a fuel pump, f.p. regulator, battery, distributor, 3 belts, tires, Crank Position Sensor... and had to keep adjusting the fuel cable.
All wheel drive.
In the works to get it back running. And talking to some1 about trading it for a full size truck!
They occasionally have issues but once they are fixed, they generally dont have repeated problems.
@@hondaresource
Repeating issues or not... believe once I get it running, I'm done with all "foreign" vehicles.
Its the 2nd one that's died on me. None of my chevy/dodge/chryslers ever died on me.
One thing You didn't talk about was the hook on the table, Ive always wondered about it (Maybe to hook it to the car in winds ????) and the back seats have a tab on the cushan and you can pull them up and make more room in the back as the back rest also moves forward. (you also pull the head rest for this)
The hook is to hold it up to the top of the car to gain access to the cooler
