I'm 41 with a deep sense of nostalgic depression. Whilst I never listened to this song when I was in my younger years, I had noticed that my Father had this album maongst many of his records. I finally discovered this gem several years ago and it gives me a deep sense of wistful longing. I want to simultaneously cry tears of joy and sadness, and I really want to go back to the 80s, even though I keep telling myself that it is impossible and that nostalgia is just part of the exploratory journey of self-discovery that is life, for one and all. Despite all of that, the longing deep within me is a constant.
Boy, am I proud to to be raised in the 80/90! My mother and father who are both old hippies married for 46 years definitely gave me the best life possible ❤ They never made my sister and I feel nothing but wonderful. I love you both endlessly
This song always makes me cry. As a young teenager, after my parents divorce, this whole album was my comfort when I was away from my Mother. My bonus Daddy gave me the 'No Jacket Required ' cassette for Christmas before I had to change homes. I love my Father & Mother, who have both passed away, but I still have my bonus Daddy who gave me Phil Collins for Christmas!!
@@RosieRose1-k2t I find it funny and ironic how the older folks always think their music is superior yet the development of music has increased so much. Music was boring back then. Now we have electronics and bass and beats... yea right bro!

When I became older, I realized ALL 80s music was the soundtrack of my adolescenthood and now I wish I paid more attention to artists like Phil Collins. When I hear his music, it takes me back and I miss those times.
Same here. It’s definitely bittersweet. Those memories make me cry. At times I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad about them. But I then stop and tell myself “Be happy. Oh my goodness, the '80s, a defining phase in music. MJ, Prince, Phil Collins, the Original Dude Quincy Jones, Rick James and many '80s heavy weights 😊
I have to admit, I was very impressed with this when I first saw it, and i still am. I've never seen anything like it. The video perfectly represents the song. The guy leaves his house and does his thing in nearly every conceivable cultural hub in the world...and just wants to be home. Aren't we all like that?
I love this song. Phil and Peter Gabriel are my two favorite singers. Gabriel sings backing vocals. Listen to the chorus and you can really hear Peter. The two are brilliant solo artists’, but when they collaborate, it’s magic. I’m a fan of both Genesis eras, and refuse to choose between Collins or Gabriel. They’re both good.
Yeah, the thing about Phil is he's one of the all time greatest drummers on top of his solo singing career. He might be the most influential drummer of the past 40 years or at the very least top 3 or 4

Just to get opportunity to have 2 days back in the 80’s would be amazing. To chat to my grandparents and my father and let them know about their grandkids and great grandkids and tell them the positive influence they had on me becoming the person I am today. We took for granted the freedoms we had back then especially as a kid growing up in the 80’s.
I’m only here because my 19 year old son has started to listen to Genesis and Phil Collins.... “Dad they don’t make music like this anymore do they” and that my friends is from the mouth of our youth. Great music never ages or dies
There's a much wider range of music available now because people can self-publish. Of course it lowers the bar for quality, but the good stuff's still there. If you look, you'll find new stuff that blows your mind.
Hello Phil, many, many decades ago my father told me he wanted this song played at his funeral. When we played it for him in 2012 it was so fitting. I understood. Thank you.✌

Had an amazing cry last night while listening to this song. This song just reminds me of how far I have come, and the better things I want to--and will--experience in my bright future. This song hits different!
The 80s had the best music!
Boy, am I proud to to be raised in the 80/90! My mother and father who are both old hippies married for 46 years definitely gave me the best life possible ❤
They never made my sister and I feel nothing but wonderful.
That’s a very sweet story, and I’m so glad you still have your bonus daddy!
Nice you have had too dads who love loved you great song
may their souls rest in peace pal. I lost my father this year he loved Phil Collins.
❤
That's beautiful
No Jacket Required was such a brilliant album. The 80s had the best music and such great memories.

When I was younger, I only listened to hard rock and metal. My dad actually appreciated Phil Collins more than I did. When I became older, I realized ALL 80s music was the soundtrack of my adolescenthood and now I wish I paid more attention to artists like Phil Collins. When I hear his music, it takes me back and I miss those times.
As long as Phil is recording,I'm listening!

Take Me Home beautiful ❤❤
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
Same here. It’s definitely bittersweet. Those memories make me cry. At times I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad about them. But I then stop and tell myself “Be happy. You had those moments, those folks, those places… And that. That is okay. Preciously hold the amazing memories.”😢☝🏽❤️❤️❤️
Just like the end of this video he is happy.🥰

Phil Collins...simply a musical genius! They don't make em like this any more.
You've got that exactly right.
They sure dont. Phil is absolutely a gift from God. So many great hits but this one I love the most. Born in '75 I truly enjoyed growing up with his music. Oh my the menories, the 80s and Phil Collins. ❤
His parents made him. Who the fuck is gonna make Phil again? you are stupid.
and to think when Gabriel left Genesis they auditioned other singers before Phil decided to do it.
Has anybody heard that Phil Collins is losing his hearing? He’s slowly becoming deaf sadly...
This is one of the best songs ever. From much happier times.
We can’t go back to the 80’s, but we can all still cherish the memories, live the values and remember the music and events of such an awesome decade.

How can he NOT be in the hall of fame. It’s absurd considering ….
I’m only here because my 19 year old son has started to listen to Genesis and Phil Collins.... “Dad they don’t make music like this anymore do they” and that my friends is from the mouth of our youth. Great music never ages or dies

it's a good think that Phil had solo work as well as Hackett and Peter. where would we be without these gems.
My daughter is the same way. She's 25 and thinks music sucks now. She's "old school"... she loves this stuff
