I haven’t said this in about a decade. But thank you RUclips. Y’all been fucking this world up with yalls algorithm. But today. You really touched my soul placing this video in front of me. I was in 7th grade when I first heard Sublime. Loved them forever
The first karaoke song I ever sang was Santeria, and it was in that movement that I realized my voice had truth to it. Now, I've been doing karaoke for over 15 years but have never sung Santeria again out of love and respect to what that song has meant to me.
Bud was the one to find Bradley dead so I’m sure he’s messed up from that. I found a friend dead from an OD and You can’t get that image out of your head
This is seriously so incredible. Bradley, Bud and Eric made magic recording this album. I know you probably can't go back, but I'd watch an hour long special on the album as a whole. It's a modern classic. I first heard "What I Got" when I was 10 I'm 35 now. As in love with Sublime as ever. Bud Gaugh is such an underrated drummer too!
And all these years later, I still have to play this album in my car, with the windows down on the first warm day of Spring. I’m older now, my hair is thinner, I have some gray on my beard, but Brads voice is still right there, in that moment at that eternal age. It’ll never get old.
I recommend the “Bradley’s House” podcast on all platforms - episode 35. Jon Phillips their manager goes into detail of the recording of this album. Brad was stoked - but knew he could do more and better… wanted to go to Jamaica and record. Big up the sublime family.
Love this little insight into how this song was made and recorded. Arlyn Studios was my first internship as a sound engineer, back in 2001. It was an epic place to see pros in action. So many great artists have passed through there, but it was Sublime that drew me to the studio. such a great album.
To this day he would have still been making such killer tracks. I could only imagine what they would have came up with. So many different albums with different sounds. Well, his music lives on through us all because he inspired so many bands and sounds we hear today. But no one could do it like Bradley, and that's what makes it so special. RIP. Thanks for inspiring me so much, lifting me up, and getting me through the hard times. Thanks for your music, your soul, the vibration and frequency you left in this universe that will last forever. ♥️🎸🎤🐾

Sublime holds a special place in my heart. I know they weren’t the greatest but they introduced a young me to more music than I could ever imagine. 🤙🏾
Brad you pissed me off when you OD'd but I still love you man
great vid, hearing Brad solo made me tear up a bit
his pitch is so good. RIP
Ditto on that ~ 🎶💗🎶
Me too 🙌🏼
hm
I was wondering how that drummer was keeping it together
Love to hear the stories behind the songs. I think it wudv been hella epic & fun AF being part of ANY recordings from Sublime. I'm a music junkie & have been a loyal fan of Sublime since day 1. It speaks volumes that they continued for the love of music & celebrating Brad's life. Gotta say Bud that the "steal your face" just reiterates that certain band's that run the gauntlet of my entire life have an energy all their own & I cud hardly walk away from them as I cud any loved ones in my life. Keep on keepin' on Bud, "you crazy, crazy fool"... much love ~ 🎶☀️💗🐬🎶
Bradley's voice is so raw and hypnotizing. Dude was blessed with those awesome vocals 💯
brad's solo track is hauntingly beautiful
Ya gave me the chills for sure
amen
I cried like a bitch.. :( What a badass!
You should listen to Layne Stayley isolated vocal tracks... you can FEEL his pain.. we lose the great ones early... and get left with the mediocre... r.i.p. to legends
I really love the tone that Brad developed in the later years of sublime. With the Dan McDonald guitar and having bud on the drums.
It's such a great play through album. The songs are so varied it never gets that same song for 40 minutes feel.
Died to soon . Rip Brad … I remember when he died in 96’ , Sublime was still unknown to the world , but in SoCal especially in LA county were I’m from , you heard of them through word of mouth . So when he died the band was just taking off main steam . Forever young .
I knew who they were in bumfuck Pennsylvania in 92. I have been playing them.since 40 ounces to freedom. I was so sad when Brad died.
Sublime changed my life and is by far my favorite band of all time
"New Song" is probably my favorite Sublime track. There's so many amazing tunes in their catalog. There's very little filler on their records, even Robbin' the Hood is great background music.
In college I played this song along with what I got at hundreds of late night drunken smokefest Jam sessions. No matter what the time or place or people, Sublime songs always made people happy and good energy
This my go to karaoke song!! I love u sublime you made high school tolerable.. graduated in 97!!! Saw sublime with time 3 years ago before covid, will never be the same without Bradley..
Lost a lot of my close friends to overdoses who we all chilled and listens to sublime with back the day.. sublime holds my heart.. still saving up to get the sublime sun tattooed on my back with all the detail.
love Leary's stopwatch story. felt sad to hear Brad's voice solo'd, wish he was still around
I like to think he had to go when he did, there’s no way they can mess up the music like so many others…Gwen and Steve Miller just to name a couple. Woulda liked a couple more bangers though fer sure👍🏼
Hearing the soloed vocals and guitar tracks is something
As well as these guys could play, the FEEL is what did it for 'em. As Bob Marley said, "he who feels it, knows it"......these f'in dudes certainly knew it. Such a brilliant entire record.
That solo sounds so clean... beautiful!
Brad I believe did have perfect pitch. I’ve never heard him sing a bum note and I’ve heard every single song he ever sang! Such an injustice to lose him at that point. We love ya guys and thanks for the memories! ❤️
Listen to him live tho
RIP Brad, RIP Lou Dog, thank you for the soundtrack to my high school and college years.
yessir. graduated high school in 99 and anytime we played sublime it was always the whole album and everyone belted it out loud. great times great memories great band amazing people and the best music
All the music we never got is crazy to think about. Sublime would have been a dominate force for years to come.
The drums sound so amazing on this record
very synchronistic to be seeing this video today. just randomly listened to this album for first time in forever, a week or so ago, and rediscovered how much of a gem it is
The way the engineer describes their creative process is absolutely fascinating
They were my high school band here in LBC. LEGENDS
I just can't imagine a world without that album and that song...
I haven’t said this in about a decade. But thank you RUclips. Y’all been fucking this world up with yalls algorithm. But today. You really touched my soul placing this video in front of me. I was in 7th grade when I first heard Sublime. Loved them forever
Such raw, soul-driven music that just doesn't exist today. Let's get back to this kind of music can we??
The first karaoke song I ever sang was Santeria, and it was in that movement that I realized my voice had truth to it. Now, I've been doing karaoke for over 15 years but have never sung Santeria again out of love and respect to what that song has meant to me.
This awesome. I somehow got chills and put a smile on my face
Bud looks sad at the end of the vid. The vocals are amazing. RIP Bradley. The world missed out on so much.
This truly is the perfect song.
I’d like to see the whole album broken down this way
And all these years later, I still have to play this album in my car, with the windows down on the first warm day of Spring. I’m older now, my hair is thinner, I have some gray on my beard, but Brads voice is still right there, in that moment at that eternal age. It’ll never get old.
Now all these clueless kids runnin around with Sublime t shirts. They don’t know what’s up🤣. Here’s to getting older brotha🤦🏼♂️
IMO, brad's guitar playing on the pre cursor to santeria, "lincoln highway dub" on robbin' the hood, is even more impressive
I love Sublime and Santeria is my favorite song, we keep playing it with my band.
Thanks for the interview !
Damn! That punch out note made that solo iconic. I can’t imagine how much time guitarists spent to copy that “mistake”! Love for all!
I love sublime. Very cool to hear these behind the scenes takes from the guys that were there
Hearing the song broken down man so many memories they don’t make
Music like this no more still love their music
this is an awesome segment. gave me chills
I got chills hearing just the vocals.
Pure gold right here ladies & gents!!! The 90$ were the best
Still miss Brad and LouDog
Yeah, so do I.
I've been wanting to see or hear some behind the scenes insight into this album session for decades and so thankful you put this together. Would love you to do the whole album. Always wondered if there is video footage. Talk about fire, and energy, and Jailhouse literally takes the cake. That song is a masterpiece. All the will.
Man, being 16 and discovering Sublime and marijuana was the time of my life. 23 years later and the song’s still great.
I love that as I immediately paused to rewind the isolated guitar solo track, I noticed that that's the most played part of the video too. Music :)
I cannot turn up Lincoln Highway loud enough. I cannot get enough. And I thank you for that
Thing about this record is, your all time favorite ballad ends and your favorite punkreggaeska tune of all time kicks in, and you just want to stay in that moment eternally.
i’ll cry right now
I saw Paul Leary and instantly clicked. Didn't even know it was Sublime but I was immensely surprised to find that Paul produced that album. Love the Butthole Surfers and Sublime!
My dad always thought he was the man when singing along and has since passed same way as brad but so much of my memories involve this song it was my childhood and it was rad
Man, 25 years ago. Doesn't seem like it's been that long. What a great album. Cool shirt bud, my kid has the same one. 👊😎
Sublime is so underrated! and Eric is one of the greatest bassists of all times!
Thank you for this video I really enjoyed it! Eyes got a little watery. They were just a part of my life that still means so much to me
One of the top 100 rock albums of all time 🙏💵🇭🇳 thanks sublime!
i own every single album on, cassette and cd and trying to get all them on vinyl. all time favorite band, wish Bradley was here to see all the success and love his music is getting.
