    We just bought a house built in 1985, and our pool and hot tub area have this aggregate decking everywhere! And it is definitely hot and definitely sharp! My daughters toes will be bleeding after a day of swimming and going inbetween the slide and the diving board and jumping in and playing! We will definitely look into this, seems like a great option!!

    we have two courtyard patios with this stuff and the pebbles are just rolling off all over the place...but still plenty of the sharp stuff on most of it. Should I try to scrape off as many loose pebbles as possible or just blow what's come loose off then apply this stuff? The courtyards are internal so getting the whole thing replaced would require some kind of major overhaul

      Yes, a thorough pressure washing with triple crown will clean, prepare, etch, and remove anything suspect - whatever survives 3k+ psi I would leave it alone and apply COOL over what’s left. Thanks so much, please don’t hesitate to call us! (888) 776-2242 . Ask for Ryan !

    I like the stonework better. Make a clear epoxy that can be applied to the surface that makes it less sharp and cooler but retains the color of the stones.
    I think using a clear epoxy on top very thick would make it cooler and less sharp but keep the cool pebble pattern on there. I know you think it is dated but it really isn't. Those types of surfaces like exposed aggregate are timeless when done correctly.

    Lot's of questions after viewing this. How about vertical areas, like our raised pool spa at the one end of the pool that has pebble decking on 2 sides? Will your product hold and dry on the vertical surface like normal paint on a wall? We get a lot of mold and algae build up in areas of our current pebble aggregate deck, because of all the rain and humidity here in Florida. It requires cleaner and power washing at times. How will Cool hold up to power washing and chlorine based cleaners every few months? We also have to repair small areas regularly where the pebble material has started to release from the epoxy that is holding it down. Will Cool keep this from happening, or how do we fix that when the pebble and cool coating starts to come loose in areas? This looks like a good option and we have been trying to decide on the best way to resurface it or just strip it off and resurface it with something totally different.

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  2 года назад

      Hey Herb. Thanks for the questions. If the pebbles are embedded in an epoxy system, this might not be the best option. The concern is that the COOL might not bond so well to the epoxy. It depends on age and chemical composition. The COOL does however bond to vertical surfaces and can be pressure washed with chlorine products. I'd suggest doing an adhesion test, perhaps before a full demolition. If a bond is achieved, it would be a great, cost effective solution vs. replacement. Call us to discuss in more detail. Thanks again. Jeff. (888) 776- 2242

    Thanks for the response. I have a few quick questions.
    I have done the triple crown and purchased the cool/seal back and expect to begin with the first coat tomorrow morning. I am in Louisiana where the temps are high this time of year and rain is likely. I have to work at sunrise to meet the 82 degree mark (it will be 82 by 9 am). What if it rains that afternoon or evening between coats?
    Also, I have seen other products spray a final coat to produce a texture through a hopper. Can that be done with cool?

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  Год назад +1

      Yes texturing can be done with hopper guns, I have a video dedicated to that. “Custom knockdowns and multi tones using COOL!” . Scroll through my videos to see what THats all about. More importantly, let it rain on the first coat, not the second. The coating is vulnerable to staining before the sealer is applied, therefore it’s much better to let it rain (stain) the first coat, knowing you can cover it up with the second coat. COOL needs at least 4-5 hours of sunshine before rain. Clear sealer needs more like 8-12 hours. Clear sealer can be applied one hour after the second coat of cool is finished. Hope this helps. Call us anytime ! (888) 776 2242. Hope you purchased enough COOL buckets, the aggregate really really soaks it up.

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  2 года назад +1

      It’d be wise to do so, cracks should be filled with a *paintable (important detail) concrete crack filler product. Do not use cement or cementitious materials , as they do not have elasticity to accommodate the movement within the crack. For holes and patches, use a polymer-modified cement patch. Do not use ordinary concrete, as it has no strength at shallow depths. This is where the polymer-modified products shine, and they cure in 24 hours. Make sure the patches cure correctly and have no chalky residue afterwards. Thank you! Call me anytime. (888) 776-2242

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  6 месяцев назад

      Overlays have their advantages but I always forewarn about the issues of “pop” after a winter or two! Cool will bond to the overlay but it will not prevent further movement and separation . Theoretically it could prolong the lifespan built preventing moisture intrusion (freeze / thaw cycles) , but it’s too late now . Depending on the current condition , it could require a full demolition and removal OR perhaps partial removal, new overlay in those areas, then coat the entire area. Remember COOL is only as good as what it’s applied to! Thank you! Call us anytime and have a wonderful day . 888 776 2242

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  Год назад

      @@sandrafiedeldy4215 this is a clever idea and would take some patience and a steady hand . The pebbles would adhere onto / into the wet polymer modified patch. Make sure you wash the pebbles thoroughly - perhaps soak them in triple crown first, allow them to dry, then rinse throughly . Use gloves / goggles / caution if handling triple crown this way. Once the pebbles are clean and dry, move forward with patching . Make the edges of the patch “feather” into the surrounding area, avoiding leaving behind rough changes in contour (blend it in!) . Then embed pebbles. Wash / prepare deck first so the patch material bonds to the bare area. Contact Ryan at (888)776-2242 as you’ll need help estimating material coverage. Coverage per bucket is heavily affected on aggregate! Thanks!

    I don't know if your product is the same as the "Cool Decking" I am familiar with also used back in the 80S. It broke down easily had to be resurfaced every 10 - 15 years. The epoxy over stone got very slippery when it rained or very wet. I have the stone imbedded in concrete for my decking and while it does get hot it is not sharp. but any surface gets hot in the Texas over a100s degree summer. While it is nice that folks have various options, painted stone like painted brick just looks redundant to me, not a fan. But appreciate you taking the time to make the video.

      This is completely different than “KoolDeck” from the 1960’s - on. However, that is great input, and I would agree that this is not going to fancy everyone, but some folks cannot bare to leave these decks as they are currently and need a cost effective solution vs. demolition and replacement. Each aggregate is different, some are comfortable to walk on , others are not. Thanks for the dialogue!

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  2 года назад +2

      GREAT question. Every aggregate deck is different and they come with varying degrees of contour. This will certainly affect coverage of the COOL per bucket. First of all, COOL by itself should not be used to “float” across the decking with the goal of eliminating (fully embedding the pebbles) the contoured surface . It will NOT result in a smooth, “concrete like” surface afterwards. Contours of the pebbles will always remain , even after 3 coats. Additionally, you will most likely need to double your material demand. Example: if you have 1,000 square feet, I’d order enough product for 2,000 square feet or more. I love your comment and question, and this is something I need to add to this video. These types of decks are a different animal entirely and folks need to understand the realistic expectation. If your objective is to completely eliminate the contoured texture of the deck, a preliminary leveling product (cement based most likely) will need to be employed PRIOR to the COOL being installed as a temperature reducing top coat and safety (and decorative) coating. Hope this makes sense, please reach out to us for a detailed technical discussion if you need us. Thanks! (888) 776 2242.
