    Just finished a large pool and firepit deck area and could not be more pleased. The videos are amazingly helpful- watch them thoroughly, and follow the simple step process, and you will not be disappointed. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Hard work? Yes, but gratifying and well worth it. Also, kudos to Jeff for being so helpful and available whenever I had questions.

    It's been a year since I used this product on our pool deck, I followed the instructions perfectly through all steps and used the recommended Lowe's paint in the color Almeria.. It's fantastic and beautiful! Absolutely no problems. I also coated the diving board and it has held up through snow and ice last winter and through kid-abuse all summer in scorching heat and drought and the coating still looks new. I highly recommend these videos and this product. - Dallas/Ft.Worth

    Our Cool Decking around our pool is flaking off and the color is fading out. My wife did the research on what we could do ourselves to refresh (I think that sounds correct) the whole thingamabob. She found you watched the video and told me to watch it. She's a genius and so is this product and your how-to video. We will be tackling this job very soon. We have the knockout you mentioned so I am off to watch that video now. Really an awesome informative detailed and idiot-proof video you made. God Bless You!

      Thank you for the awesome comments! Yes definitely watch the “do you have a knockdown?” Video. Although boring, It will shed some good insight . If you do your homework, the job will turn out great. I’d say at least half of all COOL projects are resurfacing existing, tired knockdowns. You need to determine whether yours is too far gone, or simply needs some TLC (has good bones) . We’re here to help you diagnose that. Thanks again. (888) 776-2242 . M-F closed weekends.

    Great video Jeff. I was a career painter when I was young and a few pros and cons I hope helps everyone. Pros, rinse the paint with resin, plastic floating around the pool, sealer sprayed with a bug sprayer and backrolled. Material suggestion, cleanliness, and temperature considerations.
    Areas to consider, use a 1 gallon grid and 5 gallon metal grid in your buckets, it helps create consistency and dunking is messy, use a 2.5 or 3 inch brush that is not the thin version- put the material down and work with it, keep a wet edge per square of cement- use the expansion joints as breaks and roll up to them- avoids all flashing, use a hoe to pull back dirt then light rinse to remove cleaner then use a dedicated brush on the vertical where you can roll the horizontal, listen to the roller regarding how far to go and you can it the dirt edges with the roller spread and backroll to disburse finishing perpendicular to the direction you are backing as opposed to parallel, practice technique with Kool and same method with the seal. The job looks great but much of flashing I refer to will likely appears as the materials age so allowing it to be as close to the same mail thickness would be ideal. Great work. It looked really good just some things that may help a homeowner.

      Triple crown is no joke! I put down 2 coats of Cool and had to cut a bolt I had placed in the concrete. I was waiting to seal it because i had another section that wouldn't use a full bucket and I was going to add another coat to this area then seal all at once.
      Well it rained and the metal dust from the bolt rusted and stained the Cool.
      I sprayed the spots with Triple Crown and they disappeared quickly.
      This is great stuff!

      It ranges so much, but with everything going up in price lately, you’ll probably want to start close to $4 per sq foot (materials, labor, everything included, “turnkey”). Crack repair, patching , etc are usually a la carte .

    How long does this keep it's new install look? Sealers out here in hot Nor Cal start turning white and look terrible after a couple or few years. Will this installation process work on stamped concrete? How much cooler does your concrete really get?

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  3 месяца назад

      Our sealer won’t become white unless it gets wet before it cures . Our sealer needs to be re/applied every two years. This will work for stamped concrete but any existing sealers MUST be stripped beforehand using a sealer stripper / remover. Then begin our protocol. COOL! Will not eliminate the stamp’s contours. If heat reduction is the priority, choose color accordingly and you’ll have good results! Thank you!!!

(I also considered white, which is the old & faded color) Seeing that the clear resin lightens it a shade, the Repose looks like it became more or less what I'm shooting for. @@encorecoatingsuniversity3203 Unfortunately, I tried to do it today with no rain in the forecast and it was a fail. The bucket I ordered from Amazon showed up and did not contain the sealer. Per your directions, I paid close attention to the outside temp and planned it out to do before it got to 82 degrees, which gave me a small window in South Florida. I also ensured that although the temp should have been ok, I kept the bucket in the shade the entire time. Once the temp got to 81 degrees per Weather.com, it quickly became impossible to work with and any attempt I made to finish a section I was working on failed. Now I'm stuck with half the bucket that I'm not sure will be usable anymore.
      I was so excited to use this, but am super disappointed and am considering just going with something else, especially after the wasted time, effort, and money. The dried texture also feels very rough. I'm sure that would have been somewhat better with a second coat...

    I have about a 2 sf area where insecticide spilled on my CoolDeck. This was over a year ago, and even to this day it remains sticky. I've tried everything to wash away the stickiness. I would like to repair it, and I am considering 2 options. First, scraping up the old and reapplying new. Is that possible, and if so, is there a repair kit or do I have to mix a whole batch? This was all done by the pool company about 6 years ago, so it's new to me.
    Second and preferable option is to tile the entire area (about a 10x20 ft area on my patio, which is separate from the pool area). I plan to enclose this area so tile would make more sense. Can I tile over CoolDeck, or does it need to be removed? If the latter, how?
    Great video, thanks!

      You must add paint. “Clear” is not an option , that’s a common question . Yes the cooling features are significant. Make sure you put a vapor membrane (visqueen/plastic) between the soil and new slab if you’re pouring new concrete. Allow to cure for 28 days. Inspect for chalky residue ! See my bad concrete video and “5 things” video for more info on that. Thank you !!!!’

      Apply the first and second coat two separate mornings as we did in this video. Although it may be over 80 degrees, not having direct sunlight and a surface that has come out of “hibernation” (night time) with no heat build up will go a LONG way for
      You. I had someone the other day saying it was mid-day, 90 degrees, and the product behaved great, HOWEVER he was under a covered patio with zero direct sunlight. Again, that will go a long way! Make sure you use the correct paint also. Additionally, keep the product in climate control environment until it’s time to use it

      TC is cheap insurance and basically is free if you purchase it with our “project bundle” at www.encorecoatings.com . We prefer people use it . Prep is everything, with any paint or coating you may choose! There are alternative cleaners you could use, of course, but may not be as effective or be harder to use (muriatic acid must be mixed, applied, rinsed, then neutralized… more steps). Pressure washing without some sort of cleaning agent is sometimes okay, but most of the time it’s not. Depends on the surface and it’s condition. Muriatic acid used correctly is an alternative for concrete surfaces . Any painted surface or previous toppings should at least be scrubbed with TSP (Tri-sodium phosphate) before application . Thanks! Here to help anytime (888)776-2242 . THANKS!

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  4 месяца назад +1

      Stamped concrete needs to be “stripped” first. Using a “sealer stripper/remover” product. Very easy to find these. Follow directions!
      After the sealer is stripped, now begin our 3 step process - triple crown, two coats of COOL, 2 thin coats of sealer.
      You MUST make sure the clear sealer is removed from the stamped completely. It is ALWAYS sealed during initial installation and often sealed over the years to maintain it. These sealers, although you may not see them as much as you used to, can interfere with ANY water based coatings you may consider. THANKS !!!! 🤟🙏 (888)776-2242

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  3 года назад +1

      Yes, stamped concrete is fine. BUT / you will need to confirm there is no active water repellents (clear sealers). Stamped concrete is ALWAYS sealed with a clear sealer when it is first installed. Often it is maintained throughout the years with clear sealers. Do a water repellency test, see how water behaves on it. Is it beading? Or penetrating ? We want penetration, because COOL is water based. This is a 7-12 year product depending on many factors. Geography, traffic volume, UV exposure, and the integrity of the surface it’s applied on. Thanks for your comment. Any further technical communication is best via email as I often forget to check RUclips comments! Thanks! Jeffjr@encorecoatings.com

    • @encorecoatingsuniversity3203
      @encorecoatingsuniversity3203  2 года назад

      The clear sealer is a sacrificial layer that will prevent the COOL from fading . I’d recommend RE/sealing every year if you’re in a high-UV area. Also, some colors fade quicker than others. Blues and reds are notorious for fading first. But the sealback clear sealer has UV inhibitors in it to protect the COOL, which also has UV inhibitors . Great question. Thanks! Hey Gene , interesting! - I think choosing a light color would be critical, but I’m not sure the non-slip texture would be ideal for a countertop. Triple crown will chemically abrade and clean the surface but it will not produce a physical profile. It might be a good idea to create one yourself. Just don’t go overboard , don’t “scar” the concrete! Less is more, just open it up in the slightest way, then let triple crown do the rest. Hahaha this is a very common question! First of all, I’m in the metro ATL area. Secondly, Ryan and I are very busy trying to keep up with the phones, emails, social media etc . It’s our peak season currently. But find a contractir you feel like you can trust and we will train them!
